Hey all, just got my bfp which puts me on course for a Christmas baby! According to my calendar it will be around 27th Dec but we'll get a better idea once we get the 12 week scan. I've already got a handsome 2 year old boy. ♥️Anyone else due à Christmas baby or fancy some pregnancy chat?

Afternoon ladies. How are we all feeling? So I have my over there phone midwife appt on Thursday and have booked in a private scan at 8 weeks on Friday 8th May. Until then I want to do weekly pregnancy tests just to be sure (this is my first one and anxiety is through the roof right now) I don't have any pregnancy tests left in the house however I've read online that you can use ovulation tests. Has anyone else done this? I've just used an ovulation test and it's the boldest positive I've ever had! Thoughts?

I’ve already had 2 children (not that long ago!) with my second child I was actually only 5 or 6 weeks pregnant at the booking appointment as I ovulated over 2 weeks late, I thought I was 8 weeks (it’s how I ended up pregnant in the first place). It didn’t make any difference to the booking appointment, all they do is go through the green notes that you have to take to every appointment and fill in/go through your answers if you have been given it ahead of the appointment. The notes ask about your medical history, the baby’s father’s medical history, ask you about living arrangements, any previous pregnancies etc etc. They take your height and weight to work out your BMI, take blood to test you for a list of dieseases (hiv etc) and things such as blood count, iron levels etc. Takes about an hour.

I ended up having to return for an extra scan as I was too early to do certain measurements, as the scan was booked at the booking appointment off the dates I had given. Going early for the booking appointment didn’t make a difference to that appointment though.

@Katbaby I am desperately trying to remember what they did and in what order 3 years ago... I don't think they did bloods the first time. I think they went through a bunch of questions like confirming which hospital you want to deliver at, whether there are any people you would worry about being around your baby - I know it's odd but i guess there's a lot of violence in some families- and just general health stuff. They will prob also ask you to book in with the nurse at the GP to get a flu and whooping cough jag.

Mind you, a lot changes in 3 years I'm sure!

@Jadey31 I think you need to step away from the tests in the nicest possible way. If you haven’t got your period take it you are still pregnant. You’ll drive yourself nuts. I did 2 tests 1 day apart, my period hasn’t shown up yet so I’m assuming I am still pregnant. If you are more hydrated and pee on a stick the line will be lighter there really isn’t any point in analysing lines. Hope I don’t sound mean, I don’t mean to xx

Jadey31 · 21/04/2020 12:51

@DontStandSoClose thank you for your reply. I sound like a crazy woman 🙈 I just don't want to get our hopes up. I'm 6+2 so it's still early days xx

Tbug · 21/04/2020 13:20

@Tink679 I'm about to complete my 2nd year, I have been working in the hospital as a HCA and yes the PPE is horrendous 😭😭😭 I've opted for non covid area for my placement so hopefully it'll be all okay xxx

DontStandSoClose · 21/04/2020 13:25

It’s not crazy at all! I think I’ve always tried to cope by not getting too attached too early, it’s 12 weeks plus where I start to believe there’s going to be a baby. Right now I say “if” a lot. “If we have a baby at Christmas” not when. I’ve no real reason to do this. I probably sound more crazy the way I think about it all!

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 14:05

Thanks for all the info girls
Im a bit like that with all the ifs and buts. Can't quite believe it's real yet, wish I could fast forward to seeing and hearing a heartbeat!!

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 14:05

But I know in my heart I'm already attached and I've only known I'm pregnant for the last 5 days

djmbaker · 21/04/2020 14:09

@DontStandSoClose I do the same!!
Both me and my OH keep saying "if we have this baby" "if everything is ok"
We had a MMC in August last year so this will be our first.. IF it goes ahead as we hope and pray.
I've got an early scan in 2 weeks so we shall see...

Is anyone on any pregnancy vitamins yet??? I was on fertility multi vitamins but obviously need to stop them now..

Hope your all ok xxx

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 14:13

I've also had a positive yesterday so still needing dates etc but according to apps I'm due 19-12 🙈

I've always hated the thought of a Christmas baby.. just for the cost of Christmas and birthdays 🙈🙈 but over the moon with our news 😘😍😍

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 14:30

Congrats @TashaJBC94

I was taking ttc vitamins seven seas and today I've just had delivered the seven seas all through pregnancy multivitamins so started on those today.

Just had my first proper bout of nausea when we out some almond butter on one of those lickmats for the dog omg the almond butter sent me pure sickly 😩

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 14:31

And I agree aboit the Christmas baby thing, always said any month but December but now Im just over the moon! Can't work out my due date as irregular periods but knowing my luck will be Christmas day!! Haha

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 14:35

Hello everyone, congratulations to all of you with lovely news. I've done 3 tests in less that 24 hours and they all have a very faint positive. I'm 13 days late for period too. I'm fairly certain that I am expecting for the the first time but with the line being so faint I have some doubts.

djmbaker · 21/04/2020 14:49

@Katbaby my cycles are irregular to, that's why I can't believe I'm pregnant to be honest...
It's so hard to know how far gone you are isn't it?? I've got an early scan in two weeks so I hope that's far enough along to be able to have some good news!!

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 14:56

Yes @djmbaker so frustrating. I havent had a natural period since coming off the pill so it's really anyones guess. I assume around the 4 week ish mark? As my bfp on Friday was a real squinter but yesterday's and todays are nearly as dark as control line.
I'm seeing the midwife on 7th May so I think I will book an early dating scan around mid may- which would put me around 8 weeks I'd have thought. But it's all guesswork and after reading other people's stories on here. I'm just thrilled to be pregnant and really hope it's sticking around, have a real fear just something is gonna go wrong and burst my happy bubble.

Sorry if you've said already but when did you get your bfp?

SpannaNose · 21/04/2020 15:03

Hi everyone! I’ve just found out I’m pregnant with our first, due on 21/12 😊 Beyond excited but trying to take each day as it comes!
Lovely to read your stories! I’ve had similar symptoms but also a lot of headaches. Midwife tells me paracetamol is safe to take but it feels wrong taking it!
Interested to know if the people booking private scans are 2nd/3rd timers or first time mums? I hadn’t thought of doing this but seems v popular on this thread.

djmbaker · 21/04/2020 15:05

@Katbaby
I got my first BFP on Friday.. it was there but faint.. then I did one Sunday and Monday and both super strong.
I have ordered some more though just to see 🤦🏻‍♀️
My periods went nuts after my miscarriage, I was regular before that.
Now I'm between 32 and 38 days so... we shall see!
The app says I'm 6 weeks.. and the nhs says I'm 5.. so they are reasonably close I guess
Is this your first??
Have you got any symptoms?

Tbug · 21/04/2020 15:19

@spannanose congrats!! I have one booked at 8 weeks and it's my first :)

leannewithadash · 21/04/2020 15:51

@SpannaNose congratulations!! I'm the same hasn't thought of booking an early scan until I read all the comments on here. It's so nice to have something exciting to share at such a strange time

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 16:03

Hi and welcome @SpannaNose!
Congratulations and welcome to the Christmas babies thread 😊😊 I'm a first time mum so have nothing to compare my symptoms to so would like to get a early scan to put my mind at rest. Hubby is keen to as well, and as it stands he is allowed to come to the private clinic so if worst case covid stops him seeing our 12 week scan at least he will have been to one.

@djmbaker sounds like the same as me then Id love to be further along than I first thought as I just want to get to 12 weeks 🤞🤞 feel like I can relax more once I'm there. I'm sure it will throw up a whole host of new worries and emotions though haha.
Yes I've been feeling hungry but mildly nauseated, really bloated and fairly tired. No boob soreness though which I don't know whether I should be worried or not. You?

leannewithadash · 21/04/2020 16:08

Does anyone know if the digital test is more accurate? I'm desperate to see pregnant as the others have such faint lines x
