Hey all, just got my bfp which puts me on course for a Christmas baby! According to my calendar it will be around 27th Dec but we'll get a better idea once we get the 12 week scan. I've already got a handsome 2 year old boy. ♥️Anyone else due à Christmas baby or fancy some pregnancy chat?

I'm feeling a bit low today. Put the toddler to bed and sitting watching TV on my own. Nights like this I miss my hubby, who is merchant navy. He'll be home a week tomorrow though, was only a 2 week trip this time thank God! Just bursting to tell folk but it defo wouldn't feel right doing that without my other half.

@ArjaD we can keep you company until he is home!! 😁😁😁

Hi, this is my first ever time using Mumsnet but I figured you are all at around the same point as me so you may be able to help shed some light or just make me feel a tiny bit less worried. I am 5 weeks exactly (well if the online calculators are anything to go by) and first baby after trying for 9 months.
I am just so worried that anything could go wrong.
Last week I had sore boobs but now they don't hurt anywhere near as much, am I panicking about nothing?
I'm not ready to tell friends yet and I can't speak to my mum as she is a nurse and has enough going on with the current situation.
I'm not really showing any other symptoms and haven't done. What about everyone else? X

december2020 · 21/04/2020 07:08

@Tbug aaah!! Hope did the essay writing go? I'm sure the happiness of being a grandad will trump all else hehe! I'm lucky we're in lockdown right now so not drinking isn't the dead give away with work or family. My parents live abroad so it's been a bit hard not to mention anything on a call. With the online calculators I should be due 21 December. Early scan I still need to book 😅 procrastinating! But I think I just to know early if things are not good may be better for me than finding out weeks later.

@ArjaD omg that's awful!! I hope you get through today!! Is there another number you could call or an email address or online referral form?

5weeks today! It still feels a little surreal, probably because we haven't really told anyone. We've been trying to look at potential names but my god our tastes are so different, just this will take 9 months 😅😅

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 07:29

I still have an underlying niggly stressy feeling that I don't have a midwife app until 11th June. I want to ring and bring it forward but I feel like the receptionists judge so much 😩😩

Tbug · 21/04/2020 08:27

@december2020 it went ok 😂😂 ahhh I'm due 20/12!!

I want to tell people because if something does happen I'd still want to talk about it x

Tbug · 21/04/2020 08:58

@Tink679 are you a nurse? 💕 I'm a student nurse and due to go on placement next week for 6 months 🙈🙈 but I will stop if/when I get to 28 weeks cos isn't that when you're high risk?

Twitchett22 · 21/04/2020 09:08

@Tbug I'm also a nurse and have been told that if all the covid stuff is still happening when I'm 28 weeks I have to either go off or move to non clinical. Hopefully it will all be over with by then!
@6jess6 welcome to Mumsnet! Pregnancy is worrying for everyone so you're definitely not alone. This is my 2nd and I'm more worried this time round for some reason. Everyone is different but I don't think you really enjoy the first trimester until you see the 12 week scan and know everythings ok. I had no symptoms at all with my first in the first few weeks, and this time I just feel queasy and tired but I've not had any sore boobs or anything so try not to worry. I might be wrong but I think if anything happens whereby you aren't pregnant anymore you always have bleeding? Not 100% sure on that but I'd just take no bleeding as a good sign. And if you get some light spotting thats also ok. Just speak to your GP if you're worried though! And I don't know what you're relationship with your mum is like but I'm sure she wouldn't feel as though you were bothering her if you told her! Don't feel like you're on your own ☺️

Also I had a dream last night that I was having my 12 week scan. Woke up gutted this morning that I've still got 7 weeks to go 😂

Tbug · 21/04/2020 09:18

@twitchett22 ah okay, but you're all okay to work up until then? Thank you ❤️❤️

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 09:31

God @Twitchett22 @Tbug I admire you for working in nursing in the current climate, im currently off work at the moment, you girls are brave working in this especially now you are pregnant.

Hope you are keeping yourself safe

Managed to contact my gp to move my midwife appt closer it is now the 7th May which is maybe now a little early! But would rather go early and be told to come back than go too late and miss out on slots for scans etc.

Anyone booked an early scan? Think I'm gonna do a digi test tomorrow to confirm for myself and then book an 8 week private scan for approx mid May

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 09:39

6jess6 nothing to worry about, my boobs hurt for a few days and now they are fine again. Wait till the second trimester hahaha, they will become so sensitive you'll threaten your hubby if he comes anywhere near 😂😂
Morning all! Managed to finally get through to that number, they took as much details as they could and now I need to wait for an appointment letter to come in. Appt will be sometime when I'm between 8 and 10 weeks, so second half of May I'd say.

Natt99 · 21/04/2020 10:03

Thank you so much to all the nurses out there 💕 you are amazing!
That's good you were able to move your appointment @Katbaby 😊 is it still face to face? They said mine would be over the phone which is obviously understandable.
Glad you managed to get through @ArjaD must've been really stressful!

Is anyone having any weird symptoms apart from the usual? I am burping constantly, so glad I'm not in the office! Also having really lucid dreams, last night I dreamt about a salad bar WTF! 🤣😂

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 10:15

@Nat99 the night before I got my bfp I had a very vivid dream I was giving birth 😂😂 this is tmi but one of my symptoms atm is that I'm very gassy. Hoping that will get less bad once hubby is home next week 😂

OP posts:
Nic2908 · 21/04/2020 10:24

@Natt99 I'm having dreams every single night without fail. And super gassy too. @Tbug I'm a nurse too, dont know where you are in the country but currently our universities are not sending students into placement (unless third year) to prevent exposing them to unnecessary risk?? I have only told our matron at work, trying to keep it quiet for as long as possible.

december2020 · 21/04/2020 10:39

@Tbug aaaah we're only a day apart!!

@ArjaD so happy you managed to get through finally! What a relief!!!

I've got my early scan at 7+2 in approx a couple of weeks just for some reassurance and peace. Hoping everything is happy and healthy as it should be. Then a week after I have my booking in appointment. I was hoping to tell the sets of parents if everything is good after the scan but DH wants to wait until after the booking in appointment. The wait is killing me 😆😆

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 10:51

Lots of nurses on this thread, you guys are amazing!! It's so hard to keep it under wraps. I keep wanting to tell my neighbours; we have an amazing community of mums with young kids here, we're always at each other's houses for playdates etc (well, before the lockdown) so it will be exciting to let them know. Two of them had babies about 6 months ago and one is due next month so I may be the last of the bunch to have their second lol.

OP posts:
Twitchett22 · 21/04/2020 10:51

Last time I was pregnant I told my mum at 6 weeks, i just couldn't wait and I figured if I was to miscarry I would tell her anyway. I'm now 4+4 and bursting to tell her but DH wants to wait 🙄 I've had to tell my manager at work due to being a nurse and the risk etc and feels weird not telling my mum! So probably won't last much longer lol.
Also (i know there are bigger problems in the world right now) but anyone else hoping the shops will open in the next few months so we can properly shop for baby stuff? I'm fed up of online shopping and I already need new bras 😂

Tbug · 21/04/2020 10:54

@Nic2908 ah okay, yeah where I am year 2s are going in at band 3s so I need to go to be able to claim maternity allowance haha so hopefully it'll all be okay!

Diorissimo1985 · 21/04/2020 11:42

Thanks for the good wishes - just wanted to update that I went back for blood test today and will hopefully get results later this afternoon as GP said he will ask to rush it through, he was so lovely to me.

I tested again with a clear blue just now as I wanted to see ‘not pregnant’ for myself so as to prepare before GP called back - but it still says pregnant 1-2 weeks? As it has changed to 2-3 weeks I’m assuming my HCG isn’t rising so it’s not good news.

Just wanted to tell someone - sorry to be a downer on this lovely thread, wishing each and every one of you lots of luck

Wearenotyourkind · 21/04/2020 11:45

Sending strength and love @Diorissimo1985 💗💗💗💗

Diorissimo1985 · 21/04/2020 11:48

Thank you so much @Wearenotyourkind

ArjaD · 21/04/2020 11:51

@Diorissimo1985 don't worry, we're here to support each other through the good and the bad. Never experienced it myself but it must be so worrying 🙁 keep us posted and feel free to stay on the thread no matter what x you'll want a soundboard!

Morning @Tbug yes I’m an ITU nurse. Let’s just say shifts in PPE aren’t so fun! They have put me in a non-covid part of ITU but still in full coveralls FFP-3 masks and full visors! They’ve not mention anything yet about but I do know those who are further in their pregnancy have had to take time off. What year of study are you?

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 12:14

Hey @Natt99 yeah still face to face which I'm glad about, feel like I want some guidance and reassurance. I hope I'm not fobbed off with being so early, bt I'm just gonna play dumb (which I am with being a first timer anyways) since my withdrawal bleed finished Christmas day I have ZERO clue how far I am anyways, going off the strength of the line I would say anywhere from about 4 weeks tho? Tested again today to a very convincing line 😊 nearly as dark as control.

If I am around 4 weeks then I will be 6 1/2 to 7 at my booking in appointment. People who have babies already what actually happens in that appt? Will they do bloods since I'm face to face to confirm anything?

Sorry for what you are going through @Diorissimo1985 we are all here for you xx

Katbaby · 21/04/2020 12:15

Also I'm super burpy as well!!! Thought I was just weird glad I'm not alone! Hahaha
