@Sakura54 I was referred to birthing options when I was pregnant with my second. I told them I wanted a c section because of one previously so they went through pros and cons and referred me to a consultant. He did his best to persuade me to have a Vbac until I burst into tears and he couldn’t wait to get rid of me. He told me to think it over and come back in a week. A week later he just signed a piece of paper no questions asked. This time it seems expected I’ll have a section.

CoBell · 15/04/2020 13:15

Thanks everyone for replying regarding my tilted womb concern! :) I have read up a bit about it now and it seems quite common affecting approximately 20 in 100 women. I had no idea what it was as I had never heard of it before so thank you for your replies.

Fredthespider · 15/04/2020 13:15

@Chickoletta I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope you and your partner have some support xx

Rainbowafterthestorm · 15/04/2020 13:20

@LozEliza, I’m glad you googled that, I’ve noticed them quite bad over the last few days, increased discharge (sorry tmi) and the odd headache. My gut instinct was screaming ‘hormones’!

At least I know I'm not the only one :)

ParisInTheSpringtime · 15/04/2020 13:23

@Chickoletta I’m so sorry to hear your news. Look after yourself x

canueve · 15/04/2020 13:27

@seventhrow mine is midwife only.

as @HarrietM87 just mentioned, for all of you who already have babies, what is the feeling of the membrane sweeping?
I had never heard of it before and now I am curious if it's painful, weird etc.?

canueve · 15/04/2020 13:28

@Chickoletta so sorry to hear that will be thinking of you. x

burntpinky · 15/04/2020 13:29

@ACatCalledLola just out of interest, why did you want a section? I went elective with DC and think I want to do the same again but as this will be our last I’ll never get to experience a vaginal birth if I do which is making me think a bit more. But on valence i think I’ll be going section

Sakura54 · 15/04/2020 13:31

@ACatCalledLola really? That sounds mean and annoying. My consultant appt is for something else. I’ll just give him my many reasons for not wanting VBAC and then refuse to go to the Birthing Options one if he says I still have to go lol.

@ParisInTheSpringtime @Pink15 - at my last smear the nurse said, and I quote, ‘when you decide to have a baby get your husband to point down” 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m 9 weeks today and still feeling quite anxious. Scan is booked for 12+5 and I just feel like I’m counting down until then. I’m so worried about a MMC but also that there’s nothing I can do either way. Anxious business this pregnancy game.

burntpinky · 15/04/2020 13:39

Just got called re my 12 week scan - 9am on 29th so will be 12+4. Hoping it all fits together with getting the Iona test results back as we have that tomorrow (10+5) and they said it might take 2-3 weeks for results

Workingmama1 · 15/04/2020 13:45

@Chickoletta so sorry to hear the scan didn't go well. I have been thinking of you, sending a virtual hug

I have booked a private scan for tomorrow. I couldn't bear to wait until my follow up scan at EPU next week as I'm pretty convinced it's bad news and now I would rather just know where I stand.

Was supposed to be my booking in appointment today, was pretty crappy having to cancel it Sad

Chickoletta · 15/04/2020 13:50

Thank you very much everyone and particularly to those who held my hand over that very long weekend.

For anyone who finds themselves in the EPU, I can honestly say that the team who looked after me could not have been more wonderful. They took their time, gave me lots of information and were incredibly gentle and kind. The transvaginal scan was also absolutely fine - not even uncomfortable.

I’m feeling a strange sense of calm now, alongside feeling desperately sad, of course, and have fantastic real life support. I am very grateful to you ladies too though.

I’m going to leave the group but wish you all the love and strength in the world for your pregnancies. My situation is very unusual so please don’t let it worry you. I’ve had 2 wonderful pregnancies before and know how amazing they can be - the morning sickness and generally pantsness of it all Is absolutely worth it in the end! Lots of love. Hopefully I’ll be joining another birth group soon.

AnxiousLady1 · 15/04/2020 13:50

@Chickoletta I'm so so sorry to hear your news. xx

HarrietM87 · 15/04/2020 13:50

@Chickoletta I’m so so sorry to hear this. Please PM me if you want to chat about next steps - I’ve been through most of the various options. I’m just so sorry.

HarrietM87 · 15/04/2020 13:52

@canueve my sweeps were uncomfortable rather than painful - they felt quite veterinary! The midwife literally shoved her hand inside me but she couldn’t actually reach my cervix so couldn’t do the sweeps. I had 2 attempts and was eventually induced at 12 days overdue. But the induction was amazing and I had a wonderful waterbirth after a 3 hr labour - not the nightmare of interventions I was expecting!

Sakura54 · 15/04/2020 13:53

@Chickoletta sorry to hear about this. I wish you the best of luck.

Hello! 8 weeks today. Worried about everything including wait until 12 week scan. Booking appointment next week on the phone

Anon87 · 15/04/2020 14:14

Came over to mark place and we're already 3 pages in! Bloody hell women! 😂
Skimming through - I was told at a smear I have a tilted uterus, she said it should have no affect to pregnancy or birth.

Sweeps - I had 2 whilst in slow labour. They're uncomfy but not painful, bit smear-ish. Don't think it did anything for me anyway, still went hours and ended up hooked up to speed it up.

Had my call from hospital and doctors today to confirm over the phone for booking in. Doctor midwife said hospital midwife is "in transit" with a note for me. What the hell is that about? 🤔

Addler · 15/04/2020 14:18

I've had my scan letter today, I'm booked for the 20/5, so I think I'll be 13+1 so pleased it's not later. Still seems so far away!

I haven't had my booking in appointment arranged yet, I've left a message with the community midwife before the weekend but still haven't heard anything back, not sure how long to leave it.

mrsAndeke · 15/04/2020 14:46

Just marking my place in the new thread.

I'm 8+5 and an anxious wreck most of the time with constant nausea. Have my 12 week scan in exactly 4 weeks, such a long time to wait!

kkr168 · 15/04/2020 14:57

Im 7+2 today & have been struck down with sickness, really hoping this is a 1 off. Anyone else get a sudden bout of morning sickness around this time?
I had taken my pregnancy vitamins about 10 mins before, not sure if I should take another.

ACatCalledLola · 15/04/2020 14:59

@burntpinky my first baby was huge and so I had an emergency section because I didn’t progress. Dd was distressed (hr had to be monitored and meconium in my waters) and I didn’t want another baby to go through that. I knew I would be having another big baby and I suspected that I would end up with another section anyway. I decided that I wanted to have the section under calm planned conditions when in my mind it was pretty much inevitable anyway. Giving birth ‘naturally’ doesn’t bother me, mine and my baby’s safety are more important.

EBM20 · 15/04/2020 15:02

I'm 9+1 and got my scan letter though today. I will be 13+6 on my 12 week scan day and it worries me that it's too late for the window for the screening! Also in the letter it mentions I have to go over to the main hospital for blood tests! Surely that's putting an extreme risk to me with the coronavirus! Shall I contact the midwife and question it?

Natopp · 15/04/2020 15:16

@kkr168 hi lovely. Yes that's roughly when my MS struck. I'm taking pregnacare max and they're a very high dose of certain vitamins so they can contribute to you feeling awful. My advise is stop taking your vitamins during the day. I got told to take my vitamins in the evening before bed and ever since I've started doing that I have felt much better!
