@Whiffle77 @SunStruck sounds like you guys are still doing proper exercise even with the higher heart rate? Do you find you're OK doing that, do you go dizzy at all? I know the NHS says it's important to stay healthy and I would like to do more as I am putting on weight but I've properly slowed down - last time I carried on as normal and had a couple of times where I went really dizzy playing racquet sports and went shaky and got spots in my vision and worried that was linked to my MC (I realise the odds are that it was nothing to do with anything I did but I will always wonder if it just ran out of oxygen at a really critical time). This time as soon as I start getting out of breath I stop. Some days that means I'm not really doing anything as just walking from one room to another is getting my heart racing. I don't know which is best - keeping my own fitness up or keeping my heart rate down and avoiding dizziness?

Littlegoth · 14/04/2020 14:16

@Pippop21 I’m having a lot of dull stretching, and finding stairs horrible! I’m only 16 weeks so didn’t plan on getting a support band so early but might have no choice!

MrsMGE · 14/04/2020 14:32

@Mimba1 I think you've got to listen to your own body, if it's telling you now that some things are too much then don't push yourself, do gentle walks and yoga. I think this will pass in the second trimester if you did exercise before, you'll probably feel fitter and more energetic again. From what I read you're not meant to go above 130-140 heart rate in the first trimester. In my first pregnancy (MMC) I was still going to the gym and doing cardio and felt ok. At the moment I feel this would be too much (and of course gyms are shut too!). So that's also normal that you might not be feeling the same, don't worry. Do what you can and I'm sure it will gradually improve 😊 Instead of working out hard, I'm trying to have a good diet now, avoid naughty snacks, replace them with things that are good for both of us 😊

DH did the shopping, I'm delighted to say he's got everything 😁 I just had a lovely berry medley, mmm. You've all given me some meal inspiration for next week, thanks! 😁

MrsMGE · 14/04/2020 14:35

@Knotemma I may have had Welsh rarebit for lunch yesterday (about a million calories, but let's forget about that, a one-off!). I am obsessed with cheese 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

SunStruck · 14/04/2020 14:37

@Mimba1 absolutely stop if you feel dizzy, you wouldn't have harmed the baby but it's more for yourself so you don't faint! I took it very easy the first early weeks when I felt breathless, I did weights (much lighter than I'm used to) and just cross trainer or walking on treadmill. After the first few weeks the breathless feeling disappears and it's easier to train a bit harder. I'm tracking with a heart rate belt so I always try to train at max 80-83% of my max heart rate at most, and I do a lot of intervals so rest inbetween. The general advice is to always be able to keep a conversation while training - if you are too out of breath of that you should slow down! Also keeping hydrated and not get too warm while training.

I have always trained so I'd feel uncomfortable not doing anything (as it is a stress reliever) I also don't want to put on too much weight (trying to keep within the recommended for normal BMI, if I can put in the lower amount in the range that would be fab). I'm aiming for 11-12kg max. I think it helps during labor to be as fit as you can, especially as an older first time mum (36).

My DH does the shopping too, I haven't been outside for weeks! 🤣🤣

Mimba1 · 14/04/2020 14:54

Thanks @SunStruck @MrsMGE really helpful advice. I'll keep taking it easy for now! I've always struggled to keep fit - I partially tore my left achilles when I was 11 or 12 and ended up missing all sports for the rest of school and was quite overweight by the time I got to uni. I managed to get from "obese" to "overweight" via a myriad of back and leg injuries but got stuck there and it's only getting harder as I get older (another 36 year old here)! I do want to be healthy through my pregnancy but what you're saying makes sense and I'll see how it goes. And I know diet is probably a bigger contributor anyway (she says looking at the wrapper from her Easter lindor truffle...)!

Sounds like you had a win with the shopping @MrsMGE!

Sorry I’ve been quiet on here for a week or so. Once I’ve given my head a wobble I will catch up.

I’ve done it. I’ve reached this point, and all I’ve done is cry... I think from relief. Had my scan today, and all looked fine. So today was one of the first days I’ve told myself “I am pregnant, I am having a baby” congratulations to everyone who has had scans recently, or reached their next milestone. 3 weeks until my 16 week one now.

@DressingGown87 congratulations!!! ❤️ such a relief isn't it! It feels really magical passing that hurdle! Doesn't it! Upwards and onwards 😄🥰

Whiffle77 · 14/04/2020 15:26

Absolutely just do what you feel like you can @Mimba1 don't be going hardcore if you feel tired or dizzy! Some days I can workout as normal, and then some like this weekend I can't bear thinking about it! My meals are pretty good but my snacks are terrible 🙈 I'm already the heaviest I have been in years which is not a good start! Hey ho.
I'm trying to keep up with it like I say for my brain more than my body - it hugely helps my anxiety to keep active.
Congratulations @DressingGown87 that's lovely news 💞

TunnocksTcake · 14/04/2020 15:45

Thread 3?! Wowzas! Just been catching up on all I've missed sinceSunday!
Glad to see you here @MrsMGE I recognise you from one thread or another... our stories are v similar, I had a MMC in July followed by 6 months trying, fell again in December, MC at 5 weeks immediately followed 4 weeks later by this one, which is now 16 weeks, wooo!

So my spotting returned on Sunday, it had gone for 3 days before it came back and I was so dispirited. It's not heavy at all I just want it to go away! So yesterday I got I a tizz and rang the midwives who confirmed that 16 weeks would be over the phone so no heartbeat for reassurance. I was so upset that she invited me in then and there and I heard a very strong heartbeat! It was amazing! Baby kept moving around but I managed to record it for dh too. She also looked at the photos I had of the bleeding and she was not worried at all, said they see people like me all the time which made me feel so much better. She did say that because I had a D&C my cervix might be more sensitive/ have an old small cut from that which I hadn't considered, but makes sense.

tmc14 · 14/04/2020 15:48

@tunnocksTcake ah so pleased they took you seriously and you managed to get everything checked out. I know it's tricky times for everyone, but it is really important that they take any spotting seriously. So pleased you got to hear a strong heartbeat! How exciting. Hope you can get some rest and look after yourself until the spotting finishes x

@MrsMGE I recognise you from the TTC thread I think, congratulations!

MrsMGE · 14/04/2020 15:54

Oh wow @TunnocksTcake this sounds very similar indeed! My MMC was in June, then 8 very difficult and dark months tbh, not like me at all. Then a very early natural MC Feb/March and here I am again. Thank you for the warm welcome and delighted to hear you're now 16 weeks and everything is going well ❤️ I bet you must have been worried re the bleeding. I had no idea 16 weeks is done over the phone these days, presumably we only get the appointments in person and scans done at around 12 and then 20 weeks then? I'd be out of my mind if I was bleeding and they'd refuse an emergency scan, I'm so glad you had it done immediately and it turned out ok ❤️

Also congratulations @DressingGown87 you must be so relieved now 😊 I love all the good news, think we all need them right now 💐💐 xxx

MrsMGE · 14/04/2020 15:56

Yes @tmc14, hello to you too 😊 Thank you and congratulations to you as well, lovely to see you here 💐😊

Sunflower1608 · 14/04/2020 16:18

@MrsMGE glad to see you back. Congratulations!

Re exercise and heart rate. Increased heart rates is down to your blood volume increasing so your heart has to work harder to pump it all around. This is also one of the reasons we get out of breath quicker. Mine kept increasing to about 6/7weeks, had a little dip and then has stayed consistently 20bpm above my pre pregnancy heart rate (used to be 50-55 and now 70ish).
I've continued with my CrossFit and running (but at a lower intensity) up until last week. It was making me feel much better mentally and physically to have the routine and it helped elevate some of the morning sickness and fatigue of the first trimester.

This week I'm suffering really badly with indigestion. If I don't eat I feel sick. If I do eat I feel sick. Throwing up acids every night. Have stomach cramps. I've got sciatica which means I have no will to train, and my daily dog/child walks kill me. Feeling really rubbish emotionally. The 2nd trimester is meant to be the good bit lol, but out of all my pregnancies I've never felt so bad. And to top it off my consultant appointment has been changed to a telephone consultation between 1&5pm (being on the phone around 3 kids is nigh impossible). Feeling very tearful and whiney

Mimba1 · 14/04/2020 16:43

@DressingGown87 OMG! I am so happy for you. Actually got a bit tearful reading your message.

@TunnocksTcake that sounds like such a lovely midwife. Glad you got to hear your little one!

Loving all the good news today!

@MrsMGE I managed to find my old vivosmart! My HR sat at my desk is now 93 (previously ave around 62) and it spiked at 148 when I went to get a glass of water. No wonder I feel like shite half the time! Having said that I can see my 83yr old neighbour cleaning her car outside which is making me feel rather lazy sat here... waiting for DH to get off a conference call and then I think we'll try a gentle walk.

MOGMOGMOG85 · 14/04/2020 17:21

@DressingGown87 @TunnocksTcake congratulations both, @DressingGown87 on passing your milestone and having a positive scan and @TunnocksTcake on hearing baby strong heartbeat

Knotemma · 14/04/2020 17:42

I've found the high heart rate/dizziness/breathlessness a fun and exciting pregnancy symptom. I keep having moments of dizziness, had to lie with my feet on the headboard the other day 🙈.

I feel like I need to do way more exercise, but I just have no motivation. I'm trying to go out for a daily walk, but I'm not doing a great job of it.

@DressingGown87 I teared up a bit reading your update, I'm so pleased that today went well.

DH is working 2-10 this week, so I need to write myself a list of jobs to try to get some bits done around the house.

DressingGown87 · 14/04/2020 18:11

Thank you all for your such nice messages, and being such a great support network to me and everybody else in this thread ❤️ I realised I didn’t add my scan photo.

@knotemma I’m with you on the dizzinesses. It’s the only symptom I’ve really had. I was walking everyday just to get out the house, but fainted in the woods a couple of weeks ago. I cut both my knees open, arms, hands and head, As I’m on Fragmin to thin my blood, it looked like a murder scene. So I’ve not been out since. I need to find motivation to keep trying again.

@MOGMOGMOG85 I also find I don’t have much of an appetite, I just want salt and vinegar crisps! Fingers crossed for you to reach your milestone. Don’t read too much about symptoms, as since week 6 I’ve not really had any, apart from dizziness which could be from anything.

@TunnocksTcake Sorry to hear your spotting has returned. glad the midwife invited you in though, and provided you with the reassurance.

Pregnant after loss and dreaming of rainbows - 3
Knotemma · 14/04/2020 18:18

@DressingGown87 that's sounds like it would have been scary, not surprised you've lost some motivation.

I've just had a call from DH to say he's managed to pull his shoulder at work, so I'm going to walk the long way round to our co-op to hopefully get him some painkillers. Then when I get home I'm going to rewards myself for walking with a slice of the mars bar cake I just made 🤷‍♀️ that's balanced right?

Avocuddles · 14/04/2020 19:31

@Pippop21 just realised that I replied to you on the old thread.....

@DressingGown87 so glad all went well and lovely scan pics! Do you find your blood thinners give you nose bleeds? Every time I blow my nose there's blood, I gather it's a fairly normal pregnancy symptom but imagine the injections will be making it much worse! I also suffer from some huge bruises but touch wood they're not too bad at the moment.

@Shefliesonherownwings in my area the scan appointment came through the post a few days after the booking appointment. Hopefully it'll be a short wait for you!

@MrsMGE next online made the news today as it crashed within hours due to the pent up demand! Re walks I have a walk with DH every day - on work days usually about 40 minutes and an hour at the weekend. I find fresh air really helps to boost my mood. Dinner tonight in the Avocuddles household is chicken sausages with polenta and roasted veg, also just took some mince out of the freezer to make a chilli tomorrow.... I've planned out meals for the next two weeks on the fridge so I can fully capitalise on my Ocado slot this weekend though whether I stick to it is another matter.
I baked a banana and chocolate cake today too, I'm not much of a baker usually but have already knocked out three cakes during lockdown and there are a LOT of naughty snacks in the house (including Haribo!).

@TunnocksTcake so glad you got to hear the heartbeat and have some reassurance after your spotting, all sounds like it makes sense and glad it's nothing to worry about.

@Knotemma mars bar cake sounds great, might have to be my next home bake! Hope your DHs shoulder isn't too bad.

Just adding @rachelrainbow onto the roll call....

Tiniestsky · 14/04/2020 20:01

Hey everyone, how are you all coping with the fear and anxiety of miscarriage? I'm 8+6 and can't stop thinking about it, this is the furthest I've got into pregnancy which I'm chuffed about, but every time I celebrate it I'm brought down when I see stories of people having a mc at 11 weeks.... 17 weeks.... I'm utterly terrified :(

Knotemma · 14/04/2020 21:10

@Tiniestsky welcome an congratulations. I think that there is a lot of fodder for anxiety in pregnancy after a loss, and that for me for better once I got past my "longest period of being pregnant". With my previous 3 pregnancies I didn't make it past 8 weeks, so my early scan at 9 weeks was a big deal this time around. I then broke time up into "milestones" which was a suggestion I got on here, so 12 weeks, dating scan, 16 weeks midwife's appointment (which ended up being a phone call) things like that. My next 2 milestones are the anatomy scan in 16 days and then 20 weeks in 22 days. That has really helped me keep some sense of control over my anxiety. Don't get me wrong I have had some really bad days. But as time passes I have far more good days than bad. But that's just me. There are ladies here who have had late losses, and there is no such thing as a risk free pregnancy. Unfortunately we are just in the group of ladies who see that, rather than having the naivety to think that everything will be ok. All that being said this is a brand new pregnancy and a whole new set of circumstances and that's really important to remember. Everything crossed that this is your rainbow x

Mimba1 · 14/04/2020 21:56

@knotemma that's some really great advice.

Also... you can turn mars bar into CAKE!?!?! How have I made it into my 4th decade on this planet without knowing that?
