How are you feeling if so? How far along are you?

I’m due 12th August, 21 weeks 1 day today, first baby and I’m having a boy!

I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed with this whole pandemic and the unknown of whether it’s going to be better by then! Fingers crossed for the best.

I also really want to start buying things but feel bad for shopping online given the current scenario, I just don’t want to leave it all til last minute and be really unprepared.

Would love to hear from you all Flowers

@SpimblesDimbles tbh I’m trying not to worry that far ahead! They don’t really know how things will be in the next month let alone that far so I would try not to think too much about that the now & just take it one day at a time xx

Bubblesbebe · 07/04/2020 15:01

I bought some maternity jeans in the Topshop sale for £15, really like them, although I have been wearing joggers at home for the last 3 weeks.
I tried different maternity jeans from H&M just before the lock down and found the sizing very off, would be scared to buy from them without trying them on.. there was a huge difference in sizing between different models.

2020Aug · 07/04/2020 19:52

@SpimblesDimbles I'm the same as @Lolxx, things are changing so rapidly I don't think you can predict and I'm choosing not to even think or worry about it at the moment. You would hope things will have improved by August and I'm staying positive, but I'll face whatever happens when its here.

Luna321 · 07/04/2020 22:28

I'm taking each day as it comes at the moment. My hospital are currently allowing partners during labour and birth but not on the antenatal ward and I'm completely fine with that.

JMill13 · 09/04/2020 11:03

Hey ladies! Hope everyone is doing well!

I was wondering if anyone has had their 20 week scan yet and asked to record the heartbeat for their partners? I'm aware we're not allowed to video or record the rest of the appointment but I think at least having the heartbeat as a keepsake would be nice. Or is there a way to buy a copy from the NHS?

Lolxx · 09/04/2020 12:10

@JMill13 when I had my 16 week appointment with the midwife they listened to the heart beat & let me record it. My partner couldn’t be with me so I had asked so that he could hear it, they were really nice & the midwife done it for me

cannotmakemymindup · 09/04/2020 17:56

Our local trust has just started a mobile phone number for women to ring with pregnancy related questions and concerns but not emergency ones. As they know that there is lots of concerns and questions going unanswered. I think this is really encouraging and reassuring.

As some questions you need a human being to answer plus the acknowledgement of it being a tricky time where you can't easily get in contact with your midwife. (Especially for me as mine is shielding)

JMill13 · 09/04/2020 20:40

@Lolxx oh that's good to know! hadn't thought to ask at the 16 week appointment 'cause I assumed he'd be able to come with me to the 20week 🙈 hopefully they let us do something at the scan.

@cannotmakemymindup yeah ours has as well. It's definitely a good idea, hopefully help put a lot of women a bit more at ease. I've been moved hospitals already as the original one has been turned into a covid only hospital.

cannotmakemymindup · 09/04/2020 22:03

@JMill13 wow that's a bit of a change, different hospitals. I wish they could keep some hospitals just as maternity!

MrsAmelia · 10/04/2020 05:19

How are you all doing? Movements? Funny stories to share? I’ve been awake since 3:45 and have read all of the major news articles online and trawled so many baby sites 🙄... wish I could go back to sleep (as I sit on bathroom floor - don’t want to wake anyone with my mobile light).

I’m suffering from weird early morning wake up (3:45/4am) and can’t get back to sleep til 5:45, but my other two DC are early risers 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️, so they’re up and bouncing around at 6/6:15. I’m
So groggy by the time 11 comes around I need a nap. Never had this with my other two... and no, napping is not an option (during M-F) because I’m full-on with my girls.

Any odd cravings? I’ve been insane hungry for purple cabbage salad! Weird 😁 but healthy & tasty with carrots, cucumber, red onion and white cabbage with a hummus/lemon juice/oliveoil & salt dressing 😋😋 I’ve been eating it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and my five year old thinks I’m nuts 😂😂 She steals my Ryvita Rys/pumpkin seed crackers ... Anyone have any current go-to cravings??

We are preparing for a house move in 14 days and can not wait!! It’s a bit of a logistical nightmare (boxes everywhere) but looking forward to it so I can quickly set up our new place before I hit “nesting” mode. Unpacking and nesting needs aren’t precisely something I want to combine 😅

I hope you all enjoy a lovely warm long weekend with your partners or family and manage to find some time to nap and get your VitD under the sun 😎😎

mable88 · 10/04/2020 15:41

I had my 20 week scan this week (at 21 weeks!) - all looking good, feeling a fair bit of wriggling about as well now, although hubby hasn’t been able to feel her yet which he’s getting annoyed about! Smile little madam thought it would be funny to be awkward when having her picture taken for daddy, and so decided to give us a delightful ‘face on’ shot with her hand tucked under her chin! So I think that suggests she is going to be a sassy little wotsit! Silver lining is that I didn’t have to pay for the pictures this time, which is good as I’m not sure I’d have bought it as she looks so odd - there’s a reason they like to do the picture in profile!!

sel2223 · 10/04/2020 16:04

@mable88 was it something like this? This is my 20 week scan pic from a couple of weeks ago and, like you, they gave me it for free as couldn't get a decent pic.

Anyone else due August 2020?
mable88 · 10/04/2020 16:33

@sel2223 yes very similar to that! Smile Not sure if I got it for free because it wasn’t a very good picture or due to all the restrictions etc - think they may have wanted people not to hang around for longer than needed, paying for photos at the desk and so on, the lady didn’t say anything about not needing to pay and I know others have had their pictures for free just to get them out quicker!

Lolxx · 11/04/2020 19:23

Hi everyone, how are you all getting on?
When would you all start worrying about less movement? I’ve been feeling small fluttering from about 16/17 weeks (currently 20+1). From about 19 weeks I started to feel a stronger kick feeling, all these feelings were very intermittent & not entirely regular, the usual when lying down at night etc. In the last day I haven’t felt too much movement like that, very small fluttering again but only a couple of times today.
Is this normal? I know they say reduced movement is a worry but is it at this stage when you aren’t used to having such regular movement anyway?
I think I just need some reassurance 🙈

MrsG200 · 11/04/2020 21:05

Hello :) I'm due around the 15th August, with our second baby - a girl :) Luckily I had my 20 week scan at 18 weeks, before the pandemic crisis really took off. But I dont have another appointment until May and I'm starting to feel a bit in the dark about it all and how the pandemic might effect everything - not that there is really anyway of knowing!

22 weeks today and after realising that I'm almost at the six months mark, I'm starting to panic a little because I haven't been able to buy a single thing in preparation.

Luckily my son is only two and a half so we already have the major things - a pram, cot, moses basket etc. But I'm trying to start buying clothes and things online but i'm really struggling to find even basic clothing in new born sizes.

Just trying to keep calm about it all really.

2020Aug · 11/04/2020 22:07

@Lolxx I was wondering the same as had less movement for a few days, but I have a high anterior placenta so I thought baby probably had changed positions. Spoke to my midwife who told me to lay on my left had side and after 15 mins or so I did get a few wiggles.
He/she then moved back to kicking really low so could feel loads, now has shifted their legs back behind placenta again I think, but I can now feel the odd kick through the placenta and could even see my belly twitching so I'm hoping I'll notice it more - such a worry already!!!
If you're worried I'd speak to your midwife, even though they say a baby doesn't have regular movement yet, if it is worrying give them a call.

2020Aug · 11/04/2020 22:10

@MrsAmelia I keep waking up at 4am too! Its driving me mad, luckily I'm working at home so I can try to sleep in a bit, but I'm so busy at work I'm working long hours despite being at home. Hoping I'll get past this annoying phase soon!

PanicAtTheDiscLo · 11/04/2020 22:34

Hi Everyone
I’m due on 14.8 with a little girl! :) hope everyone is feeling ok ?

Lolxx · 11/04/2020 22:35

@2020Aug thank you! I’ve been lying on my side for the last 10 mins & started to feel some movement again! I think I may be over thinking things 🙈 how do you know about the placenta? Did the midwife tell you? They’ve never mentioned anything to me about my placenta at all! I have my 20 week scan on Tuesday so I’ll ask some more advice on movement then!

Crackerscheesescabbyknees · 11/04/2020 22:43

I have an anterior placenta. Today is the first time I've felt movement outside of my body (she kicked my hand away!). I'm 20+4.
I'm calling her Daisy right now but I might start calling her Bruce instead if I get another boot like that!

You'll be told the position of your placenta at your scan, that's when they will check it for you :)

sel2223 · 11/04/2020 22:46

@Lolxx I found out about my placenta at my 20 week scan a fortnight ago. Mine is high anterior which can apparently mean you don't feel movements till a bit later and the movements (When they do come) are often more subtle/muted.
I'm 22+2 and haven't felt anything yet. Baby was spinning around and kicking like crazy at the 20 week scan but I couldn't feel a thing!

PanicAtTheDiscLo · 12/04/2020 07:18

Yes you’ll get told about the position of your placenta when you have your scan.
I found out I was high anterior as well and so have had little/no movements at 22 weeks and 2 days!

Beau2020 · 12/04/2020 08:07

Anyone else feel like the second half of our pregnancy is going to really drag?? With this pandemic I feel the days are going really slow but maybe it's just me lol. I'm due 4th August but I feel like I'm really ahead of everyone who is my stage. We found out the gender at 14 weeks, I felt flutters from 16 weeks and strong kicks at 19/20 weeks. Now I see her poking out my stomach and I'm only 23+6 weeks. I feel like I'm going to give birth early but I don't know why... I keep thinking they've got my dates wrong when I read that people can't feel the baby yet at 22 weeks xxx

2020Aug · 12/04/2020 08:18

@Lolxx yeah I was told and it will be in the notes. I was surprised mine was anterior as been feeling movement since 17 weeks.

@Beau2020 I feel like the whole pregnancy is dragging! I imagine with everything going on the next 17 weeks will go so slowly too!

Beau2020 · 12/04/2020 09:02

@2020Aug I feel guilty as everyone is saying don't wish it by fast you'll miss being pregnant, but I've really struggled with my mental health and sickness tbh so I'll be just happy when I can see the finish line 🙈
