How are you feeling if so? How far along are you?

I’m due 12th August, 21 weeks 1 day today, first baby and I’m having a boy!

I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed with this whole pandemic and the unknown of whether it’s going to be better by then! Fingers crossed for the best.

I also really want to start buying things but feel bad for shopping online given the current scenario, I just don’t want to leave it all til last minute and be really unprepared.

Would love to hear from you all Flowers

I'm in Surrey @StephD2020, not sure whether other hospitals are yet.

I have also read a hospital in Southampron is swabbing partners and if it comes back negative they can go to visit on the ward. Obviously there's a wait for the result, but if you're in for a few days they could visit. I wonder if many other hospitals will try this.

JMill13 · 13/05/2020 21:29

@stephd2020 I know, edging closer makes you start thinking. My mum was telling me earlier her cleaner's daughter gave birth this morning at 30 weeks, her waters broke a good few weeks ago though but the thought that 30 weeks isn't that far off for me now has really made me try and get stuff together.

Hopefully home birth is an option for you though, at least you can get all the info now and see.

Looking at prams is causing me anxiety now though cause of delivery dates. 13 weeks from Mamas and papas 🙈 am shopping about obviously but that's just what I seen, it's crazy.

StephD2020 · 13/05/2020 22:08

Oooo @2020Aug that's a great idea! I hope they start doing that in London 🤞🏻

@JMill13 - wowser, 30 weeks - that's like 10 days away for me!!! 😱 I've packed most of my hospital bag but I'm still waiting on a few bits including the newborn baby sleep suits and body suits which aren't due in until the end of June. Anyone else struggling to get the newborn basics? X

squashie34 · 13/05/2020 22:09

@mable88 I've just done exactly this! I saw what must have been her hand or foot go right from the left side all the was across to the right so I grabbed my phone.. 6 minutes of recording my fat belly for about 4 seconds of her moving 😂 will be amazing to show your little one when they're old though I think!

squashie34 · 13/05/2020 22:12

@StephD2020 have you tried jojo maman? They're pricier sleepsuits but I just ordered two newborn and 2 tiny baby so at least I have something for the hospital bag until things come back in stock!

Also have you been on next? If you're on by 9:30am they're still usually accepting orders and have a few first size things on there.

Other than that, sold out everywhere 🙄

JMill13 · 13/05/2020 22:16

@stephd2020 I know! Baby was on 2lb at birth, madness.

Newborn basics have been near on impossible to get. Especially unisex ones. I got lucky with Next a week after they reopened their website but even then stuff was limited so still need a few more things. Most sites seem to have little of anything until 6+ months. I've still no idea how many of each in each size to buy.

Beau2020 · 13/05/2020 22:28

@JMill13 that's the same as me! Although I did have my glucose tolerance test today and have my 28 week midwife appointment next week (even though I'll be 29 weeks by then) x

StephD2020 · 13/05/2020 22:33

@squashie34 yea next was my go to. I ordered 2 packs of 3 sleepsuits in the middle of April for delivery by May 11. Got an email last Wednesday saying there had been a 'short delay' and now today on the chat I was told to expect one pack end of June and the other 31 July - my due date is 2 Aug!

Got another delivery due from H&M for 5 newborn body suits - ordered those last week and it said 10-14 days. I've got fingers crossed all over the show here! 🙈

@JMill13 I've aimed for 5 body suits and 5 sleep suits in both newborn size and 0-3m, so 20 in total. I figure I'll be gifted stuff when she gets here so that should see me through? Oh and obvs some really cute bits from Kath kidston that I just couldn't resist 🥰

JMill13 · 13/05/2020 23:12

@beau2020 I'll be 29 weeks when I have my 28 week appointment too. Its all so weird. Think todays appointment is actually the first one I've had on time (25+5).

@stephD2020 ooh sounds like the perfect amount. Yeah everyone keeps telling me I'll get people buying me everything once the little is here and we all find out if it's a boy or girl. Gender neutral stuff is hard to come by. I was hoping for some nice colour but so far everything is white or grey 🙄

JMill13 · 13/05/2020 23:14

@stephd2020 also omg to the Cath Kidston stuff, I didn't even know they did baby stuff until my friend sent me a cute little vest thing with bees over it and now I'm obsessed.

JMill13 · 13/05/2020 23:16

@stephd2020 ps. Think I lied. It may have been a sleepsuit with bees on it 😂

mable88 · 13/05/2020 23:22

@JMill13 ahh I’ve seen that sleepsuit with bees, it’s so cute! Tempted to get one for our little lady, my parents keep bees so they are a bit of a thing in our family!

Newborn stuff seems to be sold out everywhere - I’ve got my mum on the case and she’s managed to get a few newborn sized things at her Sainsbury’s which she’ll have to post over. And I’ll try our big Tesco’s as well, they have quite a big baby section so hopefully they’ll have something in newborn size. Just a question of convincing my husband to let me go, he’s been very protective of making me stay in for the last 7 weeks! I nipped into the corner shop after my midwife appointment the other week but didn’t dare tell him! Confused

cannotmakemymindup · 14/05/2020 01:05

Has anyone seen the update on RCOG guidelines on pregnant women staying in etc,. It's definitely wants us to really limit contact from week 28 to absolute minimum.

I really am thinking I may avoid supermarkets. Half been enjoying the trip out but I think best to send my husband and/or do more click and collect orders now. I was looking forward to possibly seeing a friend at a time in person from afar again however really suspect that'll all have to be done after baby has arrived.

squashie34 · 14/05/2020 07:43

@cannotmakemymindup could you link the document here please? I've tried to find it but can only see the one that was last updated from the 27th April x

StephD2020 · 14/05/2020 08:13

www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/2020-05-13-coronavirus-covid-19-infection-in-pregnancy.pdf

This is the full document @squashie34 - is that what you wanted? X

StephD2020 · 14/05/2020 08:14

www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/coronavirus-pregnancy/

This is the home page for the latest updates too x

squashie34 · 14/05/2020 09:02

@StephD2020 had a little read of that full one earlier but that seems to be for healthcare professionals so sort of just explains the care we will get as pregnant women rather than anything about shielding x

StephD2020 · 14/05/2020 09:16

Yea I see what you mean @squashie34 - I'm going to start applying a bit of judgement now I think. Still going to avoid the supermarkets and shops in general (DH happy to keep doing that for now). But I am going to try and get outside a bit more and possibly pop to friend's front gardens for a socially distanced coffee (which I'll take with me in a thermos). Also, cleaner is returning on Monday THANK GOD! 🤣

I definitely won't be teaching in a classroom before my mat leave starts (mine is all post graduate teaching so has just moved to online) so work a non issue for me thankfully. X

cannotmakemymindup · 14/05/2020 09:46

Sorry should have linked last night.

This is the information for us www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/coronavirus-pregnancy/covid-19-virus-infection-and-pregnancy/

Then this Q
"Q. I am pregnant – what do I need to do?
As a precaution, you should follow government advice about social distancing, stay away from public places and avoid anyone who has symptoms suggestive of coronavirus. It is still considered necessary for pregnant women to go out for essentials, such as food shopping, exercise and to attend antenatal appointments.

If you are in your third trimester (more than 28 weeks’ pregnant) you should be particularly attentive to social distancing and minimise any contact with others."

For me having a BAME background the update is definitely more of a worry than for others but also just tipping nearly into 28 weeks.

cannotmakemymindup · 14/05/2020 09:47

@squashie34 @StephD2020

StephD2020 · 14/05/2020 09:53

Thanks @cannotmakemymindup 👍🏻

squashie34 · 14/05/2020 11:25

@StephD2020 totally feel your pain about a cleaner 🤣😭 I just hate cleaning so much especially being bigger now! Do you think it's ok to have them back in the house? Will you be going out whilst they clean?

kaxxz · 14/05/2020 11:30

Hi guys

I'm feeling really anxious I'm 28 weeks and and I haven't had a check up since my 20 week scan because the midwife keeps cancelling my appointments. Last week I had an appointment booked went to my gp and waited an hour and was then told the midwife hasn't come in. I feel like my care is being neglected and my midwife isn't even reachable. I'm really worried because I've not had any urine tests or my blood pressure measured since I was 16 weeks. Any advice on who I can contact, my midwife is part of a midwife community group but even they're not reachable.

StephD2020 · 14/05/2020 11:37

@squashie34 I believe cleaners are on the list of people that can go back to work providing they can social distance! So me and dh are gonna head out for a long walk for the 2.5 hours we have her here (we live in a flat) so that should solve any social distancing issues. Plus, I'm keen for her to get back to work - the economy needs to get going again or there will be no NHS if there's no one around to pay their taxes!

@kaxxz I'm in EXACTLY the same boat. Where are you based? I'm in north London and I was given a central admin line to call for any issues or if I can't get through to a midwife. Call and explain and I am sure you'll get a call back today. I got reallocated to the senior midwife of my local community group. That said, haven't heard from anyone since! 🤣

kaxxz · 14/05/2020 11:40

@StephD2020 I'm based in the Midlands. When did you have your last check up, its really ridiculous even our central admin line goes to voicemail.
