How are you feeling if so? How far along are you?

I’m due 12th August, 21 weeks 1 day today, first baby and I’m having a boy!

I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed with this whole pandemic and the unknown of whether it’s going to be better by then! Fingers crossed for the best.

I also really want to start buying things but feel bad for shopping online given the current scenario, I just don’t want to leave it all til last minute and be really unprepared.

Would love to hear from you all Flowers

We are torn, and are either getting one as part of a travel system or going for the Joie i-360. Every time I look I change my preference!!

RLGGG · 30/04/2020 14:17

Hi all! Hope you don't mind me jumping in (very late to the party) due on the 1st August, first baby and have opted not to find out the sex (though everyone is having a good guess :)) Teacher as well, also bundled out on the Tuesday following The big announcement so is a strange feeling not thinking we'll be back in before Mat leave starts! Hope everyone is doing well through these crazy times :)

cannotmakemymindup · 30/04/2020 15:37

Hi @RLGGG welcome to our August group! It's very friendly and helpful, I am finding the support invaluable as I have no friends going through the same thing currently at all. It's great having people in the same boat understanding specific worries and concerns timed to the craziness we're living through.

2020Aug · 30/04/2020 18:44

I've actually got quite a bit now, we went for an Ocarro travel system with a cybex car seat. We ordered it at the baby show in Feb just before things escalated with Covid, took about 8 weeks for it to be delivered and have one item (footmuff) outstanding and have been told that isn't coming until June!
I've been making the most of being at home and been ordering loads of stuff, I'm never usually in to get deliveries so that has been nice.

How is everyone feeling?

I'm so tired but not sure how much being at home all the time is contributing to that, I'm still working (from home) and pretty busy. Still got achy ribs but otherwise fine. Just noticing how things in every day life is becoming more difficult, bump getting in the way etc 😂!

kaxxz · 30/04/2020 18:50

I'm good thanks had my GTT this morning, only took me 15 minutes, they just took two blood samples and said they'll be in contact if there's any concerns.

Is everyone still getting face to face check up with their midwife?, I haven't saw mine in over two months as they keep cancelling.

falkor32 · 30/04/2020 19:23

Hello,

My bay girl is due the 5th August which I think is quite close to a lot people here?

We got an ocarro bundle with the cybex car seat from Pramworld delivered last Friday which was only a couple of days after we ordered it. We were very impressed!

We also ordered a cot, mattress and changing table/drawers from Silver Cross as well which is due to be delivered on the 14th May!

@kaxxz my 25 midwife appointment was over the phone last week, won’t be seen till my 28 week appointment. Last saw midwife at 16 weeks and obviously had scan at 20 weeks but that’s been it since booking appointment and first scan at 12 weeks.

squashie34 · 30/04/2020 20:02

@falkor32 @2020Aug we've gone for the occaro too and the cybex car seat.. which colour pushchair did you go for? There was so many to choose from!

Does anyone else tend to feel their LO doing a lot of rolling rather than kicking all the time (like feeling your on a rollercoaster or gojng over a hill in the car?) that's still classed as movement isn't it even though it's not a kick I can see on my stomach

2020Aug · 30/04/2020 20:22

@squashie34 we went for a dark grey one. I know it was difficult to choose, what colour did you go for?

Yes my baby seems to switch between kicks and rolls, I got loads of rolls the other night and kept saying to my husband I feel like I'm the tower of terror at disney, he gave me a look like I'd gone mad 😂.

StephD2020 · 30/04/2020 22:08

Well I've been on a panic-buying spending spree the last couple of days to try and get everything sorted as we are also trying to move @kaxxz so I need the baby stuff to be sorted so I can reduce my anxiety!

We've gone for Obaby nursery furniture (belton range) and the iCandy peach travel system with the cybex car seat. We got all of our big purchases from the baby show which we went to in Feb but if you still have stuff to buy you can sign up to their virtual shows (I'll put the link below). I went to the virtual one in April and got the chicco next2me magic crib bundle for a great price so defo worth a look, even if all you log in to are the free lives!

@2020Aug I'm with you on things getting more difficult - putting my trainers on at the door is a definite two stage process, need to catch my breath between trainers 🤣

squashie34 · 30/04/2020 22:25

@2020Aug us too! I really liked the light grey but I know within a week I'd get it filthy 😂 never mind baby! Haha

That's so reassuring to know your little one is doing the same! I'm more paranoid over movements now since I've been told to pay closer attention to them.. if I can't feel her for an hour I get worried!

Tink2007 · 01/05/2020 08:40

Hello :)

Our third baby girl is due on 23/08 :) Anyone else due the same day?

Beau2020 · 01/05/2020 09:16

I saw everyone is posting their travel systems, I went for the Egg full travel system which I ordered when the lockdown started.

I tried ordering more things this week because everything is low stock and September delivery! Managed to get the Tutti Bambini cot in the end from wayfair. It was the only place that was in stock and it arrived next day. Partner put it together last night and it's absolutely amazing, really happy with it!

JMill13 · 01/05/2020 10:34

This is all so helpful. I'm going to have a look and see what prams and stuff I like, and check out some of the ones you guys have got so far. Just in case we can't get to shops before August.

24 weeks today! Apparently that means baby is officially viable so yay. Terrible night with heartburn, woke up starving, had breakfast the threw it up again 🙄. What's everyone's movements like? I'm just trying to work out if I should be feeling actual kicks yet, or if my light nudges are normal? The bubbles have stopped and I've definitely felt hiccups a couple of times or rolls and light nudges. I keep thinking I should be feeling solid kicks by now? Also think baby just likes to lie on their belly with their back to me so that they're kicking into my back. Every week I keep getting the same worries but more escalated the further a long I get.

StephD2020 · 01/05/2020 11:32

Ah @Beau2020 that tutti furniture is so lovely - my best friend had it with her baby but we couldn't as we don't have the space yet. Very nice!

Welcome to all the newcomers - love this group, it's giving me life in lockdown!

I'm 27 weeks on Sunday @JMill13 and I would say the kicks have really come on in the last three weeks. Where is your placenta? I had a little scare yesterday afternoon as she didn't move for about 3 hours but I think she must have been sleepy from being soooo busy the day before!

If you are at all worried though you must call your midwife, if nothing else but to ease the anxiety as stress is not good for you or the bean! X

Nfblues · 01/05/2020 11:34

I’m also having rolling type movements most of the time, mostly when I’m trying to sleep or about 9pm when I’m trying to sit down and finally watch some telly in peace. Occasionally I get proper kicks which always surprises me but mostly it’s just nudges and rolling feelings. I’m now 25+1 and had a reaction to a hay fever medicine a few days ago so was seen (all is fine tho) and the midwife said babies movements are fine. @JMill13 so don’t worry too much!

We went for a M&P flip xt3 travel system in a beautiful light grey colour which came with the cybex aton car seat, due to be delivered in July. I’m getting the itch cuz I really want it now but DH is being practical and saying we have no space so no point it sitting around looking pretty before it’s needed. I just had a look at the M&P website and we got the 8 piece bundle (with car seat / isofix as extras) pre lockdown for slightly cheaper than what they’re now selling the 6 piece bundle for!

We got an Ikea changing table for our bedroom and put it up yesterday, mainly to organise clothes and stuff in the drawers. I know it’s early but it’s so nice having it out Blush Will get the bedside crib out of the garage to test it soon also as we went for the MyBabiie one from Aldi’s baby event ages ago and I’ve seen some posts on MN saying for some people it’s all wobbly and not safeShock

Nfblues · 01/05/2020 11:41

@kaxxz My 25 week appointment was due to be face to face but they called me in the morning to tell me they were gonna do it over the phone. It took about 5 mins of her asking if I was okay, and then arranging my next one lol. Good thing is that I got emailed videos of what’s covered in their antenatal classes so we will be watching them slowly. I should be getting the 28 week one face to face she said as I’m also due a glucose test but like you will be quick it seems, in and out.

How’s everyone feeling being at home? I’m starting to get a little down being stuck indoors, at the beginning of lockdown I had lots of motivation and decluttered a whole room at a time. Now I’m waking up at 11am every day and am too tired to shower every day Confused No longer working so the days are dragging and all my friends are also nurses so too busy to chat really. One positive is that I have time to be creative for the first time in ages, I used to have an Etsy shop years ago and reopened it a few weeks ago so at least I’m earning something even if it’s £20Grin

Beau2020 · 01/05/2020 11:52

@stephd2020 it really is lovely! They do a space saver range too if you don't have room for the full size cot? I got a sale price on wayfair too so really affordable considering the quality!

I'm trying to work out if we will need a next to me cot aswell. I have a Moses basket, so I'm going to trial that before I invest in a next to me cot xx

cannotmakemymindup · 01/05/2020 12:09

@Nfblues I agree that I started lockdown all motivated but struggling now. I definitely feeling a little more emotional at not seeing people and how little support I'll be able to have in person potentially.

Last time my mum stayed locally and helped after the birth for a couple of weeks. I also had friends popping in with cakes and the like and now it's just the unknown is getting to me.

@JMill13 I agree do you know where your placenta is? I have massive kicks and rolls, ribs getting kicked and you can even see my belly moving when the baby does but this is my second, so I don't know if that makes a difference? I to am trying to pay attention to the movements and check that they are regular enough. Talk to your midwife or maternity team though if you're worried.

April1990 · 01/05/2020 12:11

Hello all!

I'm due 25th August so hopefully an August baby 🤞🏼

StephD2020 · 01/05/2020 12:18

@cannotmakemymindup and @nfblues I got really down about things yesterday too. Maybe it was to do with the rubbish weather over the last few days? Feeling SUPER stressed about moving and how many things we've got to try and squeeze in over the next 3 months but everyone's in the same boat I guess. To cheer myself up today I got showered and put nice clothes and make up on and I defo feel a bit better for it. Gonna try and tick at least 3 jobs off my list today to help manage the anxiety and then have a nice long walk once the bloody rain stops!

@Beau2020 we went for the Obaby range in the end instead and it's just as gorgeous. Can't wait to get into the new house and put it all up! X

JMill13 · 01/05/2020 12:32

Hey all thanks for replies :)

My placenta is right up top apparently. So I don't think that cushions anything. I had proper kicks a couple of weeks ago even my oh could feel them, then they stopped for a week altogether and came back with rolls and nudges last Friday. They just don't seem to have changed this week. Maybe I just have a lazy, chilled out sleepy baby. I've my 25 week appointment on the 13th so will hold out till then for now, while I still feel it moving a little. If it stops again I'll contact the midwife. It's all just so new a strange still really isn't it?

cannotmakemymindup · 01/05/2020 12:34

@StephD2020 we had hoped to move before baby was here to, even had found a great house but we never put the deposit (rent) down and have decided we need to stay put for now as we are both self employed and just don't know where things will be for us after this is all over! So trying to fit into our current house with all the baby stuff now to and not get overwhelmed by it.

Really grateful that the government is doing the self employed grant as I can no longer work and my husbands work is down by about 20%, although aware we're lucky he can still work in his job. He did apply for alternative just in case. Another stressful thing to try to not be overwhelmed by.

Considering a space saver cot for when the baby will need it, however also wondering if I should order now as everything is taking so long to arrive/be in stock.

cannotmakemymindup · 01/05/2020 12:37

@JMill13 the 13th is a couple of weeks away to wait, surely it wouldn't hurt to share your concerns with the midwife now though? I know I couldn't wait a couple of weeks!

JMill13 · 01/05/2020 12:46

@cannotmakemymindup I know, I probably should but I keep talking myself out of it thinking I'm just being crazy cause I can feel something at certain times of the time or I feel a bum sticking out making my belly feel lopsided 😂 I think it's all just my anxiety playing with my mind. I always thought it was just social anxiety but since lockdown I'm starting to wonder. Could just be hormones and quarantine driving me crazy though.

StephD2020 · 01/05/2020 12:50

Ohhh @cannotmakemymindup we are both self employed too - such a nightmare! We've managed to do most of our stuff from home and our work (we are freelance lecturers) should pick up again in July so we have earned enough in Q1 and April to see us through fingers crossed. Such a stressful time isn't it? We are actually in the middle of a house purchase which is a bloody nightmare to be honest. But we are fortunate as it is a vacant possession and we aren't selling our flat but renting it so we can still hopefully get a decorator and bathroom fitter in, despite the lockdown as long as they work alone. Nothing like having a baby and moving all at the same time as a global pandemic! My husband and I were laughing about his cousin getting married, moving and having a baby all in the same year; on reflection I think they probably had the better deal! lol
