How are you feeling if so? How far along are you?

I’m due 12th August, 21 weeks 1 day today, first baby and I’m having a boy!

I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed with this whole pandemic and the unknown of whether it’s going to be better by then! Fingers crossed for the best.

I also really want to start buying things but feel bad for shopping online given the current scenario, I just don’t want to leave it all til last minute and be really unprepared.

Would love to hear from you all Flowers

I'm also loving fruity ice lollies at the moment- especially those Roundtrees ones! Also have cravings for jelly with fruit in. But we're all out of both now and shopping isn't coming till thurs 😬
I never had the glucose test last time. I think it'll get picked up from testing your urine each time you go in and if you're not already at risk. So I'm sure they will let you know if you need it.

2020Aug · 27/04/2020 21:09

Im really into ice lollies too, actually got some moulds so I can make some so I always have some in!

Nfblues · 27/04/2020 21:46

@JMill13 you’ll only need a glucose test if you are high risk or they notice something in your urine. High risk is family history of diabetes, age, BMI and ethnicity (Asian and Afro Caribbean people are more at risk) - if you were high risk it should have been noted at your booking appointment. I’m high risk and have been told I’ll find out about it at my 25 week appt this week.

@StephD2020 we’ve done quite a bit of shopping, got the most important bits (unless I forgot something!) and have gotten a few outfits in newborn and 0-3m, mainly from Sainsbury’s which imo has the best baby clothes out of all the supermarkets. Still got more to buy but trying to space it out so I can cope financially as I’m no longer getting any income. I’ve found loads of handmade bits I love from Etsy also so have saved lots of things for next month and closer to due date.

JMill13 · 27/04/2020 21:53

Okay, I need to get some fruit pastille ice lollies. That's those going on the shopping list this week. Not sure if anyone is from NI here but the lollies I've been having 2 a day of at the minute are Dale Farm ones. They all have cool names but my favourite at the mine is Polly Pineapple, Applesaurus and Pear Picking Porky 😂 so yummy and refreshing.

I was tempted to buy moulds but would know how to make nice flavoured ice lollies.

JMill13 · 27/04/2020 21:55

@nfblues ooh that's okay then, I should be fine, hopefully.

mable88 · 28/04/2020 11:25

I had my appointment! So exciting to get out of the house Wink and everything was great with baby so that was even better news. My midwife told me that all appointments are taking place as usual, as well as the glucose tests etc, so I think it really does just depend on the area/nhs trust. So I’m feeling very grateful that in my area appointments are going on as normal.

@JMill13 I got flagged up for a glucose test at my booking in appointment, my bmi was 30.3 and if it’s higher than 30 you have to go for one. So I only just qualified, nothing else to suggest I need one so far. But good to get it ruled out I suppose!

And I really want an ice lolly now after all the ice lolly chat!! Confused

JMill13 · 28/04/2020 11:36

@mable88 yay, glad everything is perfect with baby!

I just booked my 25 week appointment there this morning for the 13th so all sounds like things are going ahead in my area as normal as well, which I'm very glad of.

Hahaha what are we all like with our lollies. I only have one lolly left and it's calling to me but I'm trying to hold of.

sel2223 · 28/04/2020 11:58

I've just rang up to check my 25 week appointment is still going ahead tomorrow and it is.
It's only the earlier appointments being affected in my area apparently, everything 25 weeks onwards is going ahead as normal.

cannotmakemymindup · 28/04/2020 12:00

I went to Farmfoods to get my frozen ice lollies and fruit quota as all the other supermarkets are out of the fruity flavours and I really don't care for the chocolate ones the same way - just not refreshing!
Got bags of pineapple🍍, mango and strawberry for making ice cold smoothies!
Massively stocked up so I should be okay for next couple of weeks.

Really glad it sounds like everyone is getting the appointments they need and want!

JMill13 · 28/04/2020 14:42

@cannotmakemymindup well now I want fresh smoothies 😂

2020Aug · 28/04/2020 15:23

My 25 week appointment has been cancelled 😔, but confirmed I will definitely have a face to face one for 28 weeks. I had reduced movements over the weekend so midwife asked me to go in and ended up getting some of the checks anyway! All was fine, baby just clearly got into a position I couldn't feel as much and as soon as I got home from the hospital wouldn't stop kicking!

The only thing I'm slightly worried about is my lack of weight gain! I feel silly worrying about it and raising it with the midwife (forgot at the weekend with the panic about baby movements), but I've only put on 2kg, I'm petite so thought I would have gained a fair bit by now. I have a bump though which is rapidly growing so baby clearly seems to be growing so hopefully by 28 weeks I might have put a bit more on.

I keep waking up at 3am everyday and struggling to get back to sleep so the tiredness is a struggle at moment 😴.

cannotmakemymindup · 28/04/2020 15:30

@2020Aug were you really sick at first? As in did you loose weight either through nausea or actual sickness?
Also are you going to bed hungry or waking up in the night peckish? I know get hungry fast but full fast so eating more often just smaller amounts and trying to not ignore that I am 'hungry again'

cannotmakemymindup · 28/04/2020 15:31

Also you are still most definitely still allowed to ring your midwife and discuss any concerns you have! So don't hesitate just because you saw over weekend.

Lolxx · 28/04/2020 15:48

I haven’t been weighed since my 12 week scan where I had lost 2kg since my booking app (I had no appetite due to nausea). I haven’t been weighed at any of my appointments

Superscientist · 28/04/2020 15:50

I've was starting to get a bit worried by my lack of weight gain too. I had been stuck at the same weight for the last month (~4lbs above prepregnancy weight) this week I've put on 2lbs already! It took me a while to regain the weight I lost in my first trimester. I was expecting to gain quite a bit as I'm short and petite, I'm sure there's still time!

Is there anything that is reducing your appetite /in take at the moment? If you need a bit of reassurance I'm sure your midwife would prefer you called that fretting about it between now and your next appointment.

JMill13 · 28/04/2020 17:24

@2020Aug I think weight gain prior to 20 weeks can be quite minimal anyway, especially if you're sick, nauseous and don't eat much in the first trimester. Try not to worry too much as long as the little is growing and developing and getting the right nutrients but definitely call your midwife to check to help ease your mind before your next appointment.

2020Aug · 28/04/2020 17:31

Thanks, I emailed the midwife in the end and they said not to worry, if I've still not gained much but 28 weeks they might send me for a growth scan. I'm eating well, more than I was pre pregnancy but definitely noticed I'm getting full more easily at the moment.
Hope everyone else is feeling well!

kaxxz · 29/04/2020 23:40

Hi guys

I'm due on August 4th, I was wondering has anyone started purchasing baby cribs etc, I don't know where to start. I'm a FTM btw x

squashie34 · 30/04/2020 07:26

@kaxxz hello, I'm due on the 2nd so super close in due dates!

We got our cot and dresser from mamas and papas just before the lockdown and gong to put it up in the nursery this weekend. We have quite a small living room so aren't planning on getting a Moses basket for downstairs and instead let her sleep in the pram. We have a next to me for upstairs.

Have you looked online? I would say with all this uncertainty and things taking much longer to be delivered (our mamas and papas order took 3 weeks) it might be a good idea to have a shop at least for a crib so little one has somewhere to sleep when she arrives? The nursery furniture can always come later! Smile

squashie34 · 30/04/2020 07:27

@kaxxz also a car seat if you haven't got one yet is worth ordering as you will need it to bring baby home in?

JMill13 · 30/04/2020 10:38

@kaxxz I was going to buy a cot and moses basket the other day and chickened out, I keep thinking August is so far away that shops will hopefully be open again before then and I can actually go and see stuff in person, figure out what I actually like.

kaxxz · 30/04/2020 10:58

Hiya

We're planning to move into our new house once the pandemic eases so right now I'm thinking of getting a Moses basket for were we live at the moment. I've seen a few on Asda's website and they come with a stand too.

@squashie34 I completely forgot about a car seat lol that will be next on my list!.

squashie34 · 30/04/2020 12:03

@kaxxz the ones on the Asda website are lovely aren't they are they're so cheap for how good they seem! Gosh you have so much going on with a new house move too Grin best of luck that you managed to get settled in there before LO arrives xx

Lolxx · 30/04/2020 12:28

What kind of car seat is everyone going for? I was hoping to wait until shops open to see if I got one with my pram but starting to worry these things won’t be open on time!

cannotmakemymindup · 30/04/2020 12:39

We got a silver cross travel system. However I got this before lockdown second hand off a friend who had barely used it.
I'm not FTM but it feels like it as we will have a 6.5 year age gap! So we have had to start all over again.
