@DressingGown87 I'm pretty sure that one of the recommenced sleeping positions is on your back but a bit sat up. I asked the midwife during my first appointment about sleeping and she said that the only reason they say that you should t sleep on your back is because of the weight of the baby presses on one of your main arteries which makes you feel sick and lightheaded. This should be ok if your top body is a bit higher or if you sleep on your side (left recommended but right is ok too).

In terms of clothes I'm finding it a bit hard. I'm 6"3' so finding normal clothes has been a bit of pain until I discovered Asos but even they don't have that many tall maternity things in my size. I haven put on any weight yet (even couple of kilos mostly due to indigestion and not agreeing with some foods) but some of my normal clothes feel tight around the waist and I'm now reduced to wearing one sports bra and one sleeping bra. Only tracksuit bottoms and loose fitting tops as my work don't really care if you're wearing a hoodie during meetings 👍🏼

Hey all, hope your all okay just caught up with all the messages! My bump feels so big for 13 weeks I don't know why lol maybe it's bloat who knows lol.
Also I think if it's not your first baby you definitely feel the odd twinge quite early on as I'm pretty sure I have this week.
This weather is just miserable, finding it really hard now, I've been off work coming up to 6 weeks now and I haven't been out at all, apart from my scan. I think I'm losing the plot honestly, I don't want to affect DD and DS with how I'm feeling but I just want to curl up and sleep all day, it's really getting to me now.

1990shopefulftm · 28/04/2020 14:10

@SamK93 I ve been going out for walks a couple of times a week but it's not what anyone really imagined pregnancy would be. There's a list of a few things I wanted to do before baby arrives but a lot involve going out, it's okay to grieve it not being the experience you expected.

SamK93 · 28/04/2020 14:16

@1990shopefulftm thank you for replying, it is hard I haven't really spoke about how I'm feeling because I don't want to sound ungrateful especially with what's happening out there and the people that have been affected by it. I have an 8 and 4 year old at home with me too and they can tell I'm not myself, so I'm just really trying to keep up my energy and mum mode on for them but it just is really hard sometimes. My iron and
vitamin D being low really doesn't help either lol.

Flora20 · 28/04/2020 14:19

@SamK93 Sorry you're feeling like that, can I ask why you haven't been out at all? Are you shielding? Sorry if you've mentioned this before! I haven't been in any buildings other than for my scan since I left work in March, but been out for a walk every day. I'd really struggle if I hadn't...

It's not raining here but grey and dull compared to the past week or so. Has anyone been buying any bits for bump yet? We don't need much but I've got a couple of sleepsuits and a few cute newborn nappies - want little one to have something of their own and pretty much everything else will come from their big sister!

1990shopefulftm · 28/04/2020 14:22

@SamK93 it's not ungrateful, your pain isn't invalid because someone elses might be perceived as worse by other people. Have they checked your levels? I ve had a vitamin D deficency before so I know how tired that can make you.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 28/04/2020 14:25

@Flora20 Same here. I'll just need to buy a few new sleepsuits & vests. And new teats for my medela bottles. I have everything, boys & girls from my DS & DD.

1990shopefulftm · 28/04/2020 14:36

@Flora20 I ve had some muslin clothes and a teether arrive from Aldi today, they were too cheap to resist. Going to order the bigger bits in June but keeping an eye out for offers on other things.

SamK93 · 28/04/2020 14:40

@1990shopefulftm Yes they have given me a 6 week course of those liquid shot things to take for the vitamin D. Really hoping it will kick in soon.

@Flora20 Im a health care assistant but I chose to take time off work to self isolate at home with the kids, things were getting pretty bad at work and I didn't want to put myself at risk, who knows if I'll still have my job if I decide to go back because work aren't being too great about it. OH gets all the shopping and things that are needed as he still goes out to work and I just haven't gone out I have no idea why myself, I've been in the garden a few times and sat in my car for a few quiet minutes on the drive. Just miss being able to do all then normal stuff, visiting family, shopping etc.

1990shopefulftm · 28/04/2020 14:44

@SamK93 if I remember right I think after 2 weeks of high vitamin D it kicked in for me so hopefully it will work for you soon.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 28/04/2020 15:18

@1990shopefulftm Way to go girl! The muslins, you will need plenty of those by the way😊

1990shopefulftm · 28/04/2020 15:31

@UpsyDaisy1234 I ve got 9 so far, I had no clue how many to order.

Flora20 · 28/04/2020 15:35

@SamK93 Hopefully the vitamin d will help you. If you can try to get out for a walk it will really help you feel more positive, fresh air and seeing a bit of greenery is amazing for your mental health. I can understand why you left work if they couldn't give you a different role - hopefully they won't cause you too many problems. X

UpsyDaisy1234 · 28/04/2020 15:51

@1990shopefulftm Wow! 9 is a good start, Probably enough, you'll be washing frequently anyway so can throw them in every wash.

You'll know within a week or so if you need more. .

With my first I think we ended up with about 15 which I thought might be too many but actually wasn't. Having plenty means you can have them lying around in each room so there's always one at hand, as well as in your changing bag etc. Also place them under the baby's head in their cot / moses basket / pram in case they spit up - saves you washing the entire bed linen.

For me, i love using it to burp baby after a breastfeed. I also place it over my shoulder to avoid baby licking my skin or sucking my cloth.

Freddie1987 · 28/04/2020 15:56

@SamK93 I agree, getting out for a walk every once in a while is really helpful to clear the cobwebs away and get rid of that weird, flat feeling a lot of us seem to be experiencing now that we know lockdown is going to be another 3 weeks at least. I shove a really interesting podcast in my ears and quick walk around the local park, it seems to help! Is there a way you could do that with the kids too somewhere quiet?

I think you're completely right to take time off work, but I understand it must have been a tough decision and it doesn't help when bosses are being less than compassionate...fingers crossed you can transition back into something with them soon and keep the communication lines open in case they can adapt your role maybe? I'm in a slightly different position in that I've been furloughed for a month now and it's making me more and more anxious about the security of my role - I'm in a creative agency, so not exactly essential work! Not nice worrying about redundancies before any chance of mat leave...

1990shopefulftm · 28/04/2020 16:00

@UpsyDaisy1234 yes I ve heard duplicates are good so I m trying to have as much of everything but not too much that I go over budget.

DressingGown87 · 28/04/2020 16:02

@KitKatKit @sunbreak Thanks guys, did it sking when I was 9/10 years and then twice more in my teenage years playing sport. They said to try my left side, so hoping my right (which is how I've always slept) is ok. Been googling pregnancy pillows this afternoon. Also added to my list of questions, if whether i can use a carrier?

@SamK93 Hope your ok, and that the vitamin D shots help. I try go for a walk per day, even if its just round the block, which helps clear my head. Could you get out with the kids, or later on when your DP is home? You have chosen to protect your family, remember that, and don't feel bad for leaving work.

I've purchased a Groegg so I can start looking at what my temperature my room is at.

SamK93 · 28/04/2020 16:16

@1990shopefulftm I've just too my second weeks dose so hopefully feel a bit better soon fingers crossed.

@Flora20 @DressingGown87 I think I'm definitely going to take all your advice and try go out for a walk with the kids later on if the weather gets a bit better, I think the fresh air may do us all good to be honest. Thank you x

@Freddie1987 yeah that's also what I've got to remember there's so many of us going through the same thing at the moment. I love that feeling of just putting earphones in and just zoning out for a while, definitely will try that. Yes it's a such a difficult decision, cant blame for you being anxious. Work places obviously need the staff to come to work which I don't blame them but some of us aren't ready to go back to work yet but we're still so far away from being able to take maternity leave.

Sls668 · 28/04/2020 19:26

I’ve felt quite lucky to be off work as it’s been easy to keep a secret and I felt absolutely shocking the first 6 or so weeks when I was working. I’m bored now but feel like I’m getting the rest I really needed. I’m working bits from home but, as I work in a nursery, there isn’t loads to do.
I haven’t bought anything yet apart from my announcement bodysuit which I’m still waiting on! My partner and I are isolating separately for a variety of reasons so we’re doing lots of research over the phone/through WhatsApp but I don’t want to really buy anything without him.

DressingGown87 · 28/04/2020 20:03

@SamK93 Hope you managed to get out, I went in the drizzle, certainly not as warm, but grateful to get out the four walls.

@Sls668 Sorry your away from your DP. I suppose that is one of the benefits that we can rest. I've just made a huge list of jobs to do, some of which are pointless.

I've just seen that mamas and papas is having a sale. So I've bought a cuddly toy, its like the generation game! For some reason it's reminded me of the secret life of toys!

Sls668 · 28/04/2020 20:11

@dressinggown87 we’re doing ok with it to be honest, we txt throughout the day and video call daily so we get the nice bits without the chance to drive each other crazy in a tiny house with 2 dogs! 😂 I think if lockdown is extending any longer, we’ll come back together, it’s been too long now!

EmmaA96 · 29/04/2020 13:55

Hi ladies I had my official NHS scan yesterday 13+5 due date 29th Oct, although I probably won’t go to term! They are identical separate sacs same placenta, although have a scan with fetal medicine at 16 weeks to confirm and will be there going forward! I have picked up a few packs of vests/bibs when I’ve been in Asda so hopefully will have a bit of a collection if I buy frequently! Still no bump, but can’t wait to feel pregnant! Living in my gym clothes as my jeans are too sore, getting some maternity clothes for my birthday on Saturday who knew that’s what I’d be getting this year 🤣

@EmmaA96 Gorgeous pictures! Glad to hear that your scan went well. I am living in my pj bottoms, joggers & leggings at the moment. I need to buy some sleepsuits & vests too at some point. I am showing a bump already & its suprising as i didn't show until 19weeks+ with my Dc1 & 16weeks with Dc2. Are you feeling any flutters yet with your twin babies?

1990shopefulftm · 29/04/2020 14:36

@EmmaA96 that's a wonderful scan picture :) I ve been showing already but I do know I have gained some weight so that's probably why.

EmmaA96 · 29/04/2020 14:42

Thank you! Not at all yet, I keep having dreams where I can feel them and they’re born etc just constant crazy dreams 🤣 comfy definitely best at the minute some days we are in our pyjamas all day! I haven’t got my appetite back yet, managing breakfast some times lunch then that’s it! Can’t wait until I can just eat normally! I got horrendous heart burn with my girls at around 16/17 weeks so I’m hoping it doesn’t come back!
