Glad I found this again! 12 weeks scan done and everything looking good! Baby likes doing forward flips!

Buzz22 · 01/04/2020 20:24

@bluemoon2468 we have girl and boy names we both like. Not settled on one particular name for either gender but we have few we like. Luckily we have very similar taste in names!
We aren't married so have yet to decide what surname. I love my surname so I think we will end up double barrelled which I know some people dislike!

LexiM · 01/04/2020 21:03

@bluemoon2468 We have no idea on names. I have a feeling we will be last minute namers! It’s one of the reasons I think finding out the sex will be good, at least we can then just focus on boy or girl names!! My DH just suggests really ridiculous names as a joke.

NWnature · 01/04/2020 21:05

@bluemoon2468 @Buzz22 no idea where to start on names!

Congrats @KelMcC !

Has everyone had the flu jab now? I didn’t get round to it before everything happened and am now loathe to go into the GP germ fest. Might ask the midwife what she reckons.

CouscousEvaporator · 01/04/2020 21:17

We’ve got a top 3 boys names but girls names we cannot agree on lol

@nwnature to be honest I don’t think I’d bother with the flu jab, at least while corona is high alert. For us, our babies will be born right at the jab changeover time anyway so protection will be limited come this winter anyway!

Spark27 · 01/04/2020 21:45

Names is another reason I want to know the sex. Saves making a decision we dont need to make. We've got an awful surname (thanks DH) so need something that works with that. And something that fits in with DD's name. I've got a few ideas, and am making a note of ones I like for DH and I to discuss after the 20w scan. Fortunately having one child does now narrow our field on 'types' of names we know we like.

MrsD1990 · 01/04/2020 21:50

@nwnature I was going to get a flu jab on the advice of my midwife but things moved too quickly with CV and lockdown and now I feel like it's not worth the risk for me to go out and try to get it now. The best thing would be if they did it at one of my hospital appointments since I'm there anyway but my midwife said I should get it from my GP.

@couscousevsporator We're the opposite! We have two girls names and not really any boys picked yet. Definitely need to meet this baby before we properly decide on a name!!

Treaclepie19 · 01/04/2020 22:13

We have some names picked out, I really want to know the sex now :)

LexiM · 01/04/2020 22:23

@NWnature I haven’t had a flu jab. The midwife said I may or may not be able to get one from the GP and I also never got round to it due to CV. I know usually they are offered Oct-March.

BntTowers · 01/04/2020 22:38

@NWnature last week my midwife said I'd missed the window with the flu jab, but to get it early next season.

Indigogirl88 · 02/04/2020 07:43

@NWnature I had mine but only because I had to for other health reasons

@bluemoon2468 weve got a list going but not agreed any yet we decided to keep the names to ourselves as well just to annoy the family who keep asking haha! Plus I dont want their opinions

Woke up this morning with terrible back pain, neither of us slept well either last night which might be why Sad

Luce123456 · 02/04/2020 08:10

We've chosen our girls name but we're struggling with boys names. I was convinced we were having a boy until I had a dream it was a girl. I wouldn't normally believe dreams but I dreamed I was pregnant and that's when I took a test 1la week earlier than we were told to. (We had IVF)

Treacle81 · 02/04/2020 08:17

Morning girls! @Indigogirl88 I was the same last night back at leg pain, been up since 4am. I just ordered this as great price and versatile if any of you interested. Not showing yet but defo starting to get sore so thought best get it just now, dunno how long it’ll take to arrive. Aww love seeing all the scans 🥰 hoping today the nausea isn’t as bad 🤞🏼 xx

Morning girls! Glad I found the third thread! Really loving everyone's scans pics! I had mine last Thursday and was in shock to see there was a baby there and hear the heartbeat! Hope everyone is doing ok? I'm coming up to 14 weeks and it feels like I'm still feeling really Sick when I wake up in the morning, anyone else? Also, anyone know how we're meant to be sleeping whilst pregnant? I heard on the left side, but always roll over in my sleep! Is that what pregnancy pillows are for? Xxx

Quiffy · 02/04/2020 08:59

@Zaalfruit no birthing partners for birth or for scans?

@bluemoon2468 I have a first and middle name picked out. DH loves the first name but isn't so keen on the middle haha. Although I'm fully ready for them to pop out and 'look' like another name. This is presuming it's a boy, although the first is neutral.

@KelMcC yay on scan!

@Buzz22 Double barrelled surname sounds good, esp to have your name in there.

@NWnature I didnt get mine, I think because it's usually Sept to March so I think I'll get it later in the year.

@Lucylou37 woop on your scan

Treacle81 · 02/04/2020 09:11

Oh, with regards to names we are going to start thinking about it after 20 wk scan when we hopefully find out sex xx @Lucylou37 yea not meant to be on your back from 20 wks as disrupts blood flow to baby. Sleeping in left from 2nd tri is best for circulation and blood flow xx

Pregnancy pillow or even a normal between legs is to help you stay on side xx

Buzz22 · 02/04/2020 09:16

Well nub techs said 85% girl. Still think it's a boy! My scan photos were not clear either which the sonographer herself admitted. I really wanted to book a private gender scan but who knows if that will happen now.

@NWnature I had flu jab last October during previous pregnancy and midwife told me I wouldnt need it again because of that. Also because we are at the end of the flu season now anyway apparently. She said whooping cough they do each pregnancy regardless of it being such a short time ago.

@Zaalfruit no birthing partners during labour? My hospital website currently says no partners for scans or antenal appointments which seems to be across the board now. Its says on one bit of website a birthing partner when you are in established labour but cannot be on antenatal or post natal wards. But on another bit of website it says one birthing partner who gets a wristband and can only leave once in 24 hours or will not be allowed back in. So I'm not sure really.
Friend is going in to be induced today and thought no partner till established labour but said the midwife seemed more flexible when they discussed it the other day. So shes going to keep me posted on whether hes allowed to be with her or not. Fingers crossed he is!

NWnature · 02/04/2020 11:12

Ah perfect thanks all re the flu jab advice. I think I will leave it for now. My next midwife appointment is end of April so will see what she says. Imagine it may be over the phone.

I ordered the bbhugme pillow as a scan treat! Just arrived!

Hope you feel better @Quiffy

Our hospital says only one birthing partner at the moment. A lot could change by the autumn too I guess?Daffodil

MrsD1990 · 02/04/2020 11:33

@nwnature I've got the bbhugme too! We got it a few weeks ago. I have a bad back and our sofa is awful for back to support so I've been using it in the living room. Husband loves it too! Will have to squash it in our bed when I start to need to sleep with it - which is probably soon! Trying to just sleep on my side, didn't realise how much I love sleeping on my back!! Husband actually woke me up to put me on my side last night! Luckily I feel straight back to sleep

BntTowers · 02/04/2020 12:45

Everything is changing so fast at the moment, I think it's awful about no birth partners in some trusts and I'm not sure how I would cope with it personally. On the other hand things are moving so fast and hopefully by the time we are due to be going into labour things will have settled a bit.
I really feel for anyone who is currently very close to their due date. It must be terrifying.

Staci1 · 02/04/2020 13:26

Hi everyone, new here. Due 3 of October. I live in New Zealand and have 2 boys already, 12 & 15.

Joined up when got my bloods back from 12 week scan with a few worries but am just glad to join and have people to chat too.

MrsD1990 · 02/04/2020 14:59

Welcome @Staci1 I get a lot of comfort from this group. So good to have people to talk to and share with who are going through their journey at the same time.

@BntTowers just looked up the story - apparently they banned birthing partners in some trusts but then reinstated them after advice from health professionals. I'm so supportive of social distancing etc and take it so seriously but I think forcing women to give birth alone is a step too far. I would be devastated to have to go through labour without my husband. I hope they sort the situation out so birth partners are allowed indefinitely (we would legit quarantine ourselves if it meant husband could definitely be at the birth) hope the situation is much better by the time October comes around

esmerelda1988 · 02/04/2020 15:09

Also hoping like mad that things are different by October, I hate the idea of having a section alone then recovering in hospital for who knows how long. What I don't really understand is why our trust is allowing partners to visit for 1 hour a day until mum is discharged- surely this just increases the likelihood of infection with people coming and going, and potentially popping to the shops in between?
