Found you all! Thought you'd just gone quiet 😂

So many lovely scans, congratulations everyone 💕

Glitterbug86 · 01/04/2020 15:48

@Treaclepie19 fantastic news, delighted for you. And great scan pic ❤️

Buzz22 · 01/04/2020 15:50

Confetti cannon surprise for the DH/DP that cant be at scans is a great idea!
@Treacle81 I'm sure you can find them to buy online. Would need to order one of each though!
@Treaclepie19 yay lovely scan. What a relief that must be for you. Congratulations!

EllieGolightly · 01/04/2020 15:51

I was on such a high, but to be honest I'm feeling a little deflated now, didn't know I was supposed to take a bigger dose of folic acid because I'm overweight, I've just been taking pregnacare and it's way under the recommended dosage for high BMI. Nothing I can do as I'm 13 weeks now, measuring at 13+6 but I know 100% date of conception, cause it was the first month we stopped trying and only DTD once! Being referred to consultant because of my weight, so will be jointly managed by community midwife team and hospital. Hubby is mad GP didn't tell me when I first went for referral to maternity services that I'd need extra folic acid, but maybe she wouldn't have known that.

Baby was very active and got some great pics with their little hands up covering their ears, midwife said they don't like the ultrasound, they were bouncing around, showing us the front and back, so just trying to settle myself and be excited.

LexiM · 01/04/2020 15:53

@Aquablue1123 welcome to the group!

@Treaclepie19 really pleased for you. I agree great scan!

I’ve literally done nothing today but move from my bed to the sofa and put the dishwasher on. I’m so unmotivated but don’t even seem to care, which I guess is good in a way as we are stuck inside!

EllieGolightly · 01/04/2020 15:58

Moping so much, forgot to attach pics!

@EllieGolightly sorry I posted same time as you. Glad you got to see the baby lots on the scan and sorry to hear you are worrying about the folic acid. I agree with you, by the time I saw the midwife first time I was nearly 10 weeks, so advice for first trimester is nearly not useful. My doctors didn’t seem to know much at all, even just basic things like how the appointments work.
Hope everything will be ok once you’ve seen the consultant.

Aquablue1123 · 01/04/2020 16:02

@Luce123456 Thank you, I’m not sure if they are similar but I definitely feel a lot better talking to you all in this group. I’m sure it will be fine, that goes for your tests too x

Thanks @CouscousEvaporator means a lot. So pleased you got low risk, you must be relieved.

@Lexim thanks :-)

@Treaclepie19 ahh such good news, congratulations!

Aquablue1123 · 01/04/2020 16:10

@EllieGolightly I’m sorry you feel deflated, this is hard enough as it is without extra things to worry about. We get folic acid from some foods we eat as well so you may have been having additional supplements anyway but you will feel better when you see the consultant. Lovely scan picture 🥰

I’m taking so many different medications at the moment I think they may be adding to my morning sickness, but it will be worth it I’m sure.

Luce123456 · 01/04/2020 16:11

After doing a little more research into it and looking at gender reveal things we have decided to get gender reveal golfballs off amazon for about a tenner. I'm going to take them with me to the 20 week scan and see if they will pick the ball of the correct gender and give it to me mi us the sticker so I can take it home and we can do it together. If not and they have to tell me the sex I'm sure DH will get to have fun in the garden finding out either way. Long way off yet got to make it through the 12 week scan yet 🤦🏼‍♀️

EllieGolightly · 01/04/2020 16:13

@LexiM I suppose whatever will be will be now, hubby is trying to soothe me saying neither of us are products of the correct prenatal tablets and we have no health issues!

I had my do nothing day on Monday, it was great, just about pulled myself off the sofa in the evening to make dinner. We should enjoy it while we can!

Buzz22 · 01/04/2020 16:21

@Aquablue1123 @Luce123456 I think the bloods taken at your booking appointment by midwife check for things like HIV/syphilis, sickle cell , anemia, also your blood type among other things.
The bloods taken at your 12 week scan are used to along with the Nuchal transluceny and maternal age/history to determine a risk factor for down's syndrome, Edwards syndrome and pataus syndrome.
Extra blood work I assume could be anything else a consultant wishes to cover. I had 8 vials taken at beginning of pregnancy. In my case it was to determine if there was any possible underlying issue that could have caused previous bleeding and pre term rupture of membranes such as clotting disorders and who knows what else?! My midwife told me the results were back but the consultant would discuss them with me when I next see him. I dont think anything serious was found as they were taken at around 7weeks pregnant and I had no phone call.
I hope that's some help. I think extra bloodwork is due to particular circumstances so I wouldnt know what they are looking for in your case. I'm sure if you are worried you could give your midwife ring and she would do her best to help you understand.

Hi all!
Had my first scan today and baby put on show!
I've been getting so worked up, worrying something was wrong so it was amazing to see little bean moving around, even when they started kicking me in the bladder 😅
Due 10th October!

Buzz22 · 01/04/2020 16:31

@Aquablue1123 sorry I saw your other message saying you were high risk. Did they ring you after your scan/combined screening?
I'm sorry I dont have experience with what happens next. I'm sure some other ladies on here have previously had to undergo some further tests like the amnio so I'm sure they will be able to shed some light. Fingers crossed for you. Try not to stress and take comfort in the fact the doctor was happy with the scan measurements.

NWnature · 01/04/2020 16:37

Just had the scan! So embarrassing at first I had taken the full bladder instruction too literally and she had to send me away to wee!!!
Then the baby hid behind my belly button the entire time even with her literally shaking me. It was quite awkward. Seemed to go ok and it was moving round loads. I have no idea on measurements etc and whether that was ok or if she even got what she needed.. assume she did. She said estimated due date 10 October.
Just waiting to do bloods now.

Aquablue1123 · 01/04/2020 16:37

Thanks @Buzz22 yeh, my one is the 12 week trisomy blood check; the PAPP-A and free beta hcg. They came back showing high risk based on the levels and my age, so they want me to do the NIPT test. I just hope that comes back low risk so I can relax slightly.

otterbaby · 01/04/2020 17:41

@NWnature that happened to me twice in my last pregnancy! Never knew how difficult it would be to half empty your bladder when you're desperate for a wee!

NWnature · 01/04/2020 17:56

@otterbaby really! You have made me feel much better. She wasn’t friendly at all and it was so awkward! She didn’t say try and keep some so maybe there was then too little when I went back. Blinking Goldilocks wee situation! I hope she managed to get all she needed as she vigorously wobbled my stomach Confused

otterbaby · 01/04/2020 18:18

Haha we clearly take the "drink loads of water" brief too literally Grin now for scans I drink less than I think I need to and it's always enough for them to see everything they need.

Quiffy · 01/04/2020 18:19

@Treaclepie19 Lovely photo

Treaclepie19 · 01/04/2020 18:20

Thanks all! After 4 hours at the hospital I came home and had an hours sleep.

You know, I always fill my bladder so much they tell me to empty it. Today I tried not to do that... and it was too empty 🙈
Had to have a cup of water and wait 20 mins.

Indigogirl88 · 01/04/2020 18:33

Lovely scan photos forgot to attach mine from last week! I am hoping nausea will ease but not looking likely at the minute. I'm trying to brave myself to tell my boss, but just enjoying it being a few friends and family knowing at the moment. Etsy have some lovely pregnancy reveal things which is keeping my occupied during lockdown

How are you doing @SkyBlue20 ? C

Loving all the pics!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I might book in a private 16 week scan I just feel so worried constantly feel like it will ease my nerves a bit ..

Don’t worry to much about folic acid - I constantly sick it up and my doctors said we consume it through our food aswell. I’m
Meant to take a higher dosage but been taking the bare minimum barely .

@Aquablue1123 please don’t worry to much - I know easier said than done x

My consultant appointment got cancelled today via a text I assume my midwife one will be As well - we also got a text today saying no birthing partners allowed currently .

bluemoon2468 · 01/04/2020 19:52

Lovely pics everyone! Out of interest, where is everyone on the naming front? Does anyone have names picked out or shortlisted yet?
