Morning ladies.
Good luck everyone with scans today! We seemed to have an abundance of lovely photos yesterday so I'm hoping for some more today! So relieved mine is done but now the worry of the 20 week scan...

We will definitely find out the gender if we can. I have no idea how people manage to wait! I'm thinking we are expecting a boy. Nub theory wont work for our scan photos as little one decided to cross their legs! Does anyone know much about skull theory?

@esmerelda1988 I didn't see bladder at scan yesterday. She had a hard time scanning me as I have a uterus which tilts backwards so makes it harder for the ultrasound to see, she used a different probe thing which can see deeper but not as clear.
She did note a stomach, limbs, brain, heart, and also the cord insertion. But on my notes it said view restricted by retroverted uterus. My 12 week scan last time they couldn't see a thing. Just about managed to pick up a heartbeat. No photos or anything.
I think bladder is hard to spot anyway. Like the kidneys. I was scanned internally last time by fetal medicine consultant and it took her 40 minutes to locate kidneys at 20ish weeks so I wouldnt worry. Dont go on google! It's not always our friend!

esmerelda1988 · 01/04/2020 09:10

@Quiffy thanks, my Nubtech photo had the bladder circled too but I figured that was just to show where it would be. Actually that was what prompted me to worry about it! Duh. 85% a girl though Grin

Treacle81 · 01/04/2020 09:13

Hi girls, felt so bad yesterday, slept most of the day. Oh, I was thinking of asking them to write down sex with partner not being allowed in and then seeing together. I doubt allowing you to use your phone is normal so imagine they will allow it given circumstances we are in 🤞🏼 Need to wait till 19th May to find out I guess. Just heard from news that a healthy 13 year old has died from this horrendous virus (can’t bear to say the name) so looks like kids aren’t just carriers 😢 Good luck for scans today xx

@Buzz22 I've been looking at skull theory a lot but it still confuses me a good bit at times. There's some good pictures online though where you can see the differences really well.

@esmerelda1988 a girl is very exciting! Roll on the 20 week so we can hopefully know for sure

BntTowers · 01/04/2020 10:04

I think we are waiting to find out. It's going to be hard, but we'll wait. I do have a feeling it's going to be a boy. Not sure why, just do.

My mum has been knitting already. She loves knitting baby things because they are quick, normally when she starts a jumper or something it takes her years to finished it, if it actually gets finished at all.

LexiM · 01/04/2020 10:17

Good luck and enjoy to everyone having scans today!

@Quiffy your nursery plans sound great. In my head I think my baby will have something amazing but in reality I think he/she will be lucky to have the room even painted by the time they are born! 😂

@bnttowers my mum is exactly the same with the knitting, she also likes it because it’s quick! She’s done a blanket and a teddy so far. We keep joking it’s a shame a cot, pram and car seat aren’t knitted, could save us some money!!

In the scan we just had baby had it’s legs crossed, hopefully this won’t be the case at the next one! We will probably tell everyone the sex if they ask but certainly won’t the name. Probably won’t 100% decide a name until he/she is born.

Quiffy · 01/04/2020 10:24

@LexiM I have all these great plans... But if that actually pans out we shall see hehe.

My mum doesn't knit, but I do crochet and sewing so I have a few plans. Although I've not done anything this year with the sick and tired. I've also just bought the materials to try and embroider our baby scan. Not sure how well it will go...

@BntTowers You have so much willpower to wait!

BntTowers · 01/04/2020 10:29

@Quiffy I think I'm going to try and make something for baby as well, not sure I have any ideas as to what yet. Mum is knitting, SIL is going to crochet a little cuddly toy so I'm thinking some sewing of some sort. Will probably be on the machine though as I don't have too much patience for hand embroidery unless I have a clear plan.

We are thinking lots of animals to decorate baby's room too. I love animals and I've seen some really cute jungle themed wall stickers

bluemoon2468 · 01/04/2020 10:37

I'm going for a woodland theme - getting super excited planning it!

Luce123456 · 01/04/2020 11:03

Hi all. I have my 12 week scan on monday. I'm prepared for my scans to be alone and dont feel too bad about them now I have my head round the idea. Forward thinking to my 20 week scan and I have been thinking of buying two party popper / confetti type things and when they tell me the sex walk out and fire one at my husband pink or blue. If anyone else has any other ideas please share

Quiffy · 01/04/2020 11:09

@BntTowers Sewing machine is a good shout! I only really use mine for cushions but might get inspired with the Great British Sewing Bee starting up again. Sounds like yours will have lots of lovely handmade things

Aquablue1123 · 01/04/2020 12:14

Hi Everyone :)

I'm new to mumsnet, due October 7th.

I had my scan and blood tests done last week.

The doctor was happy with the scan, measurements etc but wants me to have further blood tests, which is worrying me but let's see how it goes.

Has anyone else received the blood test results yet?

Lovely to see all the scan pictures :)

Buzz22 · 01/04/2020 12:43

Hello and welcome @Aquablue1123

I had scan yesterday was told if the combined screening showed any risk we could receive phone call in 3 days. If not we would get letter in a week or so. So I would assume no news is good news if you had scan and bloods a week ago.
Did they tell you a reason they wanted extra blood tests done?

So quarantine got me bored and I submitted to nub techs! Will wait and see! Not convinced you could see a nub to be honest...but I have no idea what I'm looking for!

Quiffy · 01/04/2020 12:43

@aquablue1123 Welcome and congrats! Not had mine back yet, but hopefully some others might have advice :)

Zaalfruit · 01/04/2020 12:44

Low key freaked out all symptoms for sickness gone. Hoping it’s only because i have reached 13 weeks +1 first day I haven’t woken up and not been sick - also feeling so hungry I feel like I can eat everything .

I wish I had the space for a nursery we have a small room but we have to keep it free for DH family when they come over . So unfair but since it’s my Dh house I don’t have a leg to stand on I might try and squeeze in a single and a cot and do a feature wall. Pinterest have great ideas. So jealous of the the people that can sew - I tried but it found it so hard and ended up getting frustrated.

Aquablue1123 · 01/04/2020 12:46

@Buzz22 Yes, they said I'm high risk, :( which has upset me but I have to stay positive. They want me to do NIPT next to rule out anything.

@Quiffy Thank you :) Congrats to you too.

Quiffy · 01/04/2020 12:51

@zaalfruit We need to keep the room as an office and spare room for when family visit but in compromise I'm going with my full theme for the room so it feels more like their little place. My idea is if either parents visit they can have our room, Ill use single bed with baby in their cot/crib in that room and dh on blow up bed in living room. Could you do something like that? Pinterest is wonderful for ideas

Aquablue1123 · 01/04/2020 12:51

@zaalfruit I was like that last week, my sickness stopped for 3 days but its back with a bang now so enjoy while it lasts. :')

@Buzz22 Ooh exciting on the nub tech :) that will be interesting to see what comes back :)

Quiffy · 01/04/2020 12:52

@Buzz22 ahhhh excited for you!

Luce123456 · 01/04/2020 12:55

@aquablue I've not had my scan yet but I had bloods done at my booking appointment. Not sure if there the same bloods. This is my 1st pregnancy. They said my blood required further investigation due to irregular antibodies. This was just over 2 weeks ago and I've heard nothing back. Unsure if this is helpful or not 🤦🏼‍♀️

Spark27 · 01/04/2020 12:59

@Buzz22, haha. That's exactly why I sent off to nub tech too. If I had been busy at work or knew we could both go to a gender scan I would have waited. But oh well. It's just a bit of fun.

@zaalfruit I had about 2 weeks of feeling good and being energised. Now 14w 4d and felt awful for the last few days. Nauseous, tired, grumpy. Enjoy feeling good.

I'm lucky that the spare/guest room has been taken over by my husband as his man cave, and seeing as it would be his family who would need to stay over, they lose out. If he wont give up, or dual use, a man cave I am not giving up a child's room. So gutted the MIL cant stay anymore.......GrinGin

NWnature · 01/04/2020 13:45

Hi ladies
I just had a message literally minutes ago saying no guests at any scans or on the wards and only one birthing partner. I will be going alone this afternoon then!
I was also kind of considering a home birth (if we have moved into our new place in time) but this seems unlikely now as builders not even started and everything has ground to a halt. I read some trusts are encouraging home births and others have stopped offering them all together and everyone has to go birth centre/ hospital.

Treacle81 · 01/04/2020 13:54

Oh that confetti idea sounds great, will shops for these kinda things be open tho? I done Nub techs at 9 wks (75% girl) done again at the 13 wk (98 % boy) lol. Makes it even more exciting!! 💙/💓?? Great nursery ideas guys! I’m not in a position to buy a home till Sept next year so not going to ‘do up’ spare room here. I’ll wait till it’s got it’s own bedroom in our hopefully forever home🏡 ❤️xx

I found you all!! So glad the scans are going well. Good luck @Aquablue1123 I’m sure it will be fine x

I got low risk for chromosomal abnormalities so feeling very relieved. 🙂

Treaclepie19 · 01/04/2020 15:07

Hi all,
Good news here! The nuchal measurement was 1.7mm. My little boy with the chromosomal issue had a nuchal of 5.3mm.
I was at the hospital 4 hours though 😩 They're completely understaffed and overworked. I felt for them.

So the plan is still just to see how things go. Unless I get too nervous and opt for the amnio.

Due date moved 3 days back to 7th September.
