Thats horrible @Buzz22 I'm sorry they were so insensitive. My first two I felt nothing until 20 weeks. This time I'm not sure if I have but I wouldn't say so for sure.

My midwife appointment was a bit annoying. She asked if she should leave booking me another appointment in case we have to have another TFMR 🙄

Zaalfruit · 26/04/2020 10:11

@Buzz22 that’s horrible care - and so insensitive the way she just dismissed it . I am so sorry that she acted like that :(
The care around pregnancies has been appalling recently - call your doctor and speak to them to see if they can arrange someone else to be your midwife - you have the right to change who is caring for you . On my first visit to the hospital they mentioned that to me . I am so sorry that they have made you feel down in the dumps - sending you lots of positive baby sprinkles.

In regards to hay fever - I am using a balm it’s alright - you just look a bit shiny and need to repeat a few times a day . I use it in combination with a nasel saline spray the nasel saline spray just helps to get rid of pollen stuck in the nose . I get pollen stuck in my throat that gives me an itchy cough I just have to hold my cough in public and then run and cough .

Don’t worry a lot of us here aren’t showing and I know how you are feeling just waiting for that belly to pop and to feel baby movements - I haven’t felt any flutters - no really change in boobs - and just some lower flab .

Also anytime you feel down rant away in here !

Zaalfruit · 26/04/2020 10:18

Thank you to everyone who has provided reassurance on FTM and about belly popping and movements . I’m just hoping it’s my genes that aren’t making me pop my mum hide me and my sister her whole pregnancy at 17 years old and 18 years old .

@Quiffy i started to see a little bit of hair above my belly button like a weird line of hair. A thought came to me shampoo or shower the hair 🤣 Rest up and don’t over exert your self hope the sickness goes .

I’m just counting down to my scan - I want to know that I have a baby in me . 17 days to go now !

otterbaby · 26/04/2020 10:23

Bloody hell @Buzz22 and @Treaclepie19 what on earth are these people thinking?! Absolutely no tact at all. It's awful that they're being so insensitive, especially when we're all feeling even more anxious with all of this going on.

Treaclepie19 · 26/04/2020 10:26

@otterbaby she was trying to help in her eyes because she didn't want me to have to ring and cancel. I felt like shouting that cancelling an antenatal appointment would be far less of a bother to me than planning a funeral for another of my children.
I kept calm and just said no thanks, book me one please.
She knew that I was planning on having no amnio and just seeing how the scan goes so its not like I'd told her we'd already had bad news 🙄

LostinAusten2 · 26/04/2020 10:43

Lord love a duck - so sorry @Buzz22 and @treaclepie19 - it really isn’t fair for the consultant or midwife to cause you extra stress, not when pregnant during a global pandemic! You’re doing brilliantly, and hugs to you both.

I think the whole darn thing is stressful- I’ve got a bump but still bringing up meals most days so trying to work out how on Earth me and little one are going to make it to October on a diet of white rice... C’mon somehow feeling fabulous after week16 🤞

HerondaleDucks · 26/04/2020 11:06

That sounds so awful @Buzz22 any scope to complain and ask for someone else for your next appointment?

I hit 17 weeks yesterday and I feel fat. Getting stressed out trying to get a home delivery for food. I got a call from the covid government people who said I was super mega high risk and they would give me help with getting deliveries but zilch.
Hey ho.
Going to deep clean the house today to keep me busy

Glitterbug86 · 26/04/2020 11:44

Wow @Buzz22 @Treaclepie19 sorry you had to deal with such insensitive witches! Those comments could cause such needless worry 😕

From anything I've read,16 weeks would be on the earliest end to feel movement, even for non-first timers buzz. Plus anterior placenta position could make it later. And I know your nuchal measurement was very positive treacle. Neither of ye have any reason to believe your pregnancies are progressing anything other than perfectly, so I hope you both brush those insensitive comments off. Hugs to you both ❤️

LexiM · 26/04/2020 12:18

@Buzz22 and @treaclepie19 sorry for the way you were spoken to, it’s really bad any time but I would think they would try and make more effort at the moment to reassure pregnant women not make them feel worse.

I’ve got a bump but definitely haven’t had any movements. I keep telling myself everyone is different and it will happen when it happens. It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing/feeling especially at the moment.

Aquablue1123 · 26/04/2020 12:46

@Treaclepie19 @Buzz22 I'm sorry you had to deal with insensitive people like that, it really doesn't help. I had a two miscarriages last year at 10 weeks and when I asked for some help or answers afterwards, I was told 'two miscarriages are no big deal, some women have 5,6,7' and I was in shock. I get they see a lot of women and I know it's common (famous last words) but it's happening to us and we are experiencing it now so they should try to be sensitive around this surely, it's just as much about mental heath as physical. I didn't go back to them after that, I changed my doctor.

I hope you are both ok! Sending hugs to you xx

Treaclepie19 · 26/04/2020 12:49

Thanks everyone, I'm okay! I've heard worse Smile

Hope you're all having a nice day x

BntTowers · 26/04/2020 13:40

I'm so sorry for those who are having terrible experiences with midwives. It does feel like maternity care has gone out the window, but there is absolutely no need to be so insensitive. I hope you both can start to feel a bit better soon.

I'm not feeling anything yet, I just want my bump to pop properly now so I know something is going right.

We did a 4 1/4 mile walk this morning, I'm exhausted, and now I have backache and even more than normal stretching in my stomach. I need to deep clean the kitchen at some point today, probably after a nap though.

Aquablue1123 · 26/04/2020 14:19

Hey girls,

You have probably already heard of them but the positive birth company have free sessions on various things from breast feeding to hypno birthing and if you sign up on their website they give you access to a positive affirmations download.

I've started to watch some videos today and now I feel a bit overwhelmed 🤣 but I need to look into this at some point.

CouscousEvaporator · 26/04/2020 14:44

Just popping on to say @Buzz22 and @Treaclepie19 that is awfully insensitive of your medical professionals. I've felt my midwife appts by phone are a bit rushed and abrupt, but never rude or insensitive like those. I hope you're both ok.

I have had terrible hayfever yesterday but fine today. DH has covid so that is absolutely brilliant.....it was only a matter of time, and I'm safe and baby is kicking about. Just sucks.

blankiesandunicorns · 26/04/2020 14:58

Thanks @spark27 iv got one daughter and one step daughter 6 and 8 they're really good but with the job I do from home (I'm a nurse) is exhausting whilst trying to juggle their work as well. I think I'm probably putting too much pressure on myself to get things done. My husband is working at the moment so I'm on my own during the day. But my sister has offered to help with school work over zoom as she's a teacher so that should make it easier.

@Quiffy @Treaclepie19 yes I agree not being in your normal routine and being able to go out is difficult enough especially when pregnant. We must look after ourselves.

I'm hoping for a better week this week 🤞🏻

blankiesandunicorns · 26/04/2020 15:23

Wow @Buzz22 and @Treacle81 how awful, my 16 week phone call was a bit rushed but no where near as insensitive as yours. Iv only felt little possible flutters and I'm 17 weeks and it's my second and I think if a midwife said that to me I'd freak out!

Treaclepie19 · 26/04/2020 15:29

Oh gosh @CouscousEvaporator your poor DH. I hope he's on the mend soon and you escape it!

I'm coughing on and off with my hayfever and just managed to freak myself out because I got so breathless in the kitchen cooking dinner and my heart rate was really high. Normal for me really with having allergic asthma but of course common sense is out the window.

Only a week tomorrow until my scan and I so hope I'm able to go.

Quiffy · 26/04/2020 15:30

@Buzz22 @Treaclepie19 sorry ladies that's rubbish and really cruel :( my midwife asked about movements but said it could be upto 24 weeks so not to fret at all. Hopefully they'll be better in the future ❤️

@BntTowers great job on the walk. My only walks have been to the loo today 😂

@blankiesandunicorns that's really nice of your sister, hope it helps ❤️

@CouscousEvaporator hope you're dh gets better soon :( scary to be so close

Glitterbug86 · 26/04/2020 15:48

@CouscousEvaporator sorry to hear about your husband. Wishing him a speedy recovery

Spark27 · 26/04/2020 15:59

@Buzz22 and @treaclepie19, sorry to hear the level of care has been so bad. I cant believe people can be so insensitive.

@Couscousevaporator, I hope your DH feels better soon and you manage to escape it. How long until your scan? I hope it doesnt get in the way of you going?

It's good that your sister is able to help @blankiesandunicorns. I'm done with today already, and I've only had to look after 1 toddler. My headache being back is not helping. I feel like I might as well live on paracetamol

CouscousEvaporator · 26/04/2020 16:01

Ah thanks, you're all lovely - he hasn't got it too bad thankfully and I managed to remove myself from the house in time. He's already feeling much better so hopefully just a 7 day thing for him!

marauder1994 · 26/04/2020 16:32

Hello! I'm due in the middle of October...

Head the heartbeat Wednesday so happy.

But today I've been experiencing 'fanny daggers' has anyone else experienced this?

CouscousEvaporator · 26/04/2020 16:42

@Spark27 sorry I missed your message, scan is unfortunately ages away, so I’ll still be able to go thankfully!

@marauder1994 I haven’t experienced it 😂 the phrasing made me laugh though.
Not be honest a lot is going on down there so it makes sense to get weird feelings now and again!

NWnature · 26/04/2020 17:32

@Buzz22 and @Treaclepie19 so sorry to hear! I know everyone is under pressure but surely midwifes should be supportive and sensitive to those expecting!? I’m so nervous and clueless myself I just think you put a lot of weight in those professional meetings so if they don’t go well it’s horrible.

And @couscousevaporator hope your husband feels better soon and you take it easy!

I’ve had a mega lazy weekend just mooching , eating and cleaning (same old lockdown routine to be honest!). Finding it a bit harder to get comfortable at night and quite wakeful throughout which is annoying and very unlike me- I’m usually out like a light!

Buzz22 · 26/04/2020 19:13

@Treaclepie19 urgh sorry you had the insensitive comments too. I cant believe the midwife actually asked you that. My loss was also a TFMR so I understand how hard it is.

I'm just hoping my midwife...who is always fantastic...is more helpful at my 16 week appointment next fri than the awful consultant. Luckily my cervical scans are done by a brilliant fetal medicine consultant who saw me during my last pregnancy so is very understanding of my current anxieties! Looking forward to another sneak look at baby before my 20 week scan!
Did a long 3 hour walk with the dog today which was good for the soul. Feeling fortunate to live in the outskirts of a city next to the countryside. Although hayfever is being a total pain in the arse!

@marauder1994 I haven't felt them yet but I have heard of them! My friend in her pregnancy used to call it 'lightning crotch!'
