Oh by the way if anyone wants a laugh have a look at the xmas babies and lockdown babies, theres definitely going to be a baby boom!!

Zaalfruit · 25/04/2020 04:31

@Indigogirl88 deffo me - i get scared when I sneeze feel like I’m an ageing woman with that fear of bladder control 🤣😂 I brought panty liners just to feel alright about it 🤪

They hay fever cough is annoying but I know will run a mile if they hear a cough or even a sniffly nose .

There will be so many December babies 👶🏻

It’s 4.31 am and I have woken up hungry - tempted to eat breakfast ...

LexiM · 25/04/2020 08:08

Hope all of you with hay fever feel better soon, it’s annoying anytime but you just don’t need it when pregnant.

I have seen that some people trying to conceive decided not to since Coronavirus but I can imagine there may be lots of extra December babies... that’s if partners aren’t killing each other instead 😂

I’ve woken up today with a really sore ankle, I can barely walk. I don’t have a clue why either and it looks fine. I feel it’s just one thing after another with pregnancy and I’m such a moany person sorry. I’m hoping it’s just a little sprain and will go away very soon, I didn’t realise you could get one from just sitting on the sofa all day!!!

I’ve just seen for anyone on Furlough and less pay, the government has announced that maternity pay will be based on your usual pay not furlough which is good to hear. My work might be taking me off furlough for next month and I would actually look forward to being able to use my brain again, I do miss working which I never thought I would say. I know maternity leave will be different as I will have a new focus but there’s only so much of the house you can sort/tidy.

Has anyone decided yet what maternity leave they are telling their employer they want?!

Spark27 · 25/04/2020 08:40

Is it bedtime again yet? I'm 18w today and still shattered. Where is this burst of energy in the 2nd tri?!

@LexiM, sorry to hear about your ankle. Odd to think you can do it when sitting on the sofa Grin.

Ive been looking into maternity leave. I'm supposed to send my Statement of Intent into my work 15w before EDD. I've worked that out to be around the 15th June, but the vulnerable lockdown isn't supposed to be done til 12th June, so a short time to make decisions. Last time I took 12 months and then went back full time for 4 months, but used up leave so only did part time. I'm now wondering whether to take 10, 11 or 12 months, depending on how much I leave accure and then adding that on the end to make it the full year. I've emailed my HR team last week to ask them to work out the leave as I'm part time already and working out the hours was confusing me. I also need to balance how much I'll earn by going back earlier, but save by not having to put the new baby in nursery (fortunately DD will be in free childcare by then). Its all so confusing, and when I try and discuss it with DH he just looks at me, confused Hmm

blankiesandunicorns · 25/04/2020 08:48

@spark27 I'm the same I can't stay awake past 9 and feel exhausted in the mornings still. Hoping I get a few weeks where I have more energy!

Quiffy · 25/04/2020 09:57

@ChickenDipper28 the hairy belly is crazy isn't it?? Although I've started to fondly stroke mine... I've not got my 20 week appointment either. Midwife said I should get it at 17 weeks but might be a little late due to covid

Hope all you hayfever sufferers get some rest bite soon :(

@lexim ouch on ankle get plenty of rest.

Knackered today, was up for ages during the night boo. Keep getting cramps. Hopefully a tidy out of the future nursery will help me sleep tonight. Happy weekend everyone!

Indigogirl88 · 25/04/2020 12:23

I woke up so early but started watching you tube videos about minimalism and simple living....then cracked on with some cleaning but ended up crashing on the sofa with a bacon sarnie 🤣

I've not even thought about leave yet I feel a bit unorganised but thats because I havent told work yet, planning to tell them after lock down but before my 20w scan

Spark27 · 25/04/2020 12:53

@Indigogirl88, that sounds awesome to me. My DH likes to hoard his stuff, and I think it's all rubbish, so he has to have his own man cave to keep things in. But every now and then when hes away I do like to have a mini clear out, just enough so he doesnt notice.

I'm very excited, been feeling some definite movements this morning when I'm sst on the sofa. Just some little pokes and prods down low (kind of in line with my hip), but its definitely helping with some of the 'is baby ok' anxiety.
Only 18w, but I dont want to freak anyone out as this is my 2nd, and I think if I was up and moving around I wouldn't have felt them.

Treaclepie19 · 25/04/2020 13:17

Hayfever sufferers how are you doing today?
I'd been doing okay until 2 doors down started cutting their grass and our windows are open. I've coughed a bit and now I'm starting to worry that I will end up having to isolate and miss my scan.
Its not persistant or anything but I'm just freaking myself out.

Thats exciting @Spark27! I've had some moments of wondering but I'm 15+3 so thinking its likely wind 😂
3rd pregnancy but first two I didn't feel until 20 weeks.

roarfeckingroar · 25/04/2020 14:08

@Quiffy @Indigogirl88 @blankiesandunicorns thank you. There's a note on my file about previous weight issues and my midwife has checked in. I need to try to keep on top of it. It's hard to not feel like a whale, especially now my bump is getting more visible.

@LexiM I had sore ankles last night too. Pregnancy is such fun 😁.

I had a clear out this morning which felt pretty good. Shattered now, rewatching season 2 of The Tunnel. Should really go for a long walk.

ChickenDipper28 · 25/04/2020 14:46

@Quiffy I do the same! 🤣 The hair is somewhat satisfying when you're stroking it!
Ah that's reassuring, thank you! I'm 16 weeks today, but my 16 week appointment isn't until I'm nearly 18 weeks.

Hayfever started bad again today ☹️ But the Vaseline has helped again.

I keep feeling these new movements/bubbles quite low down to the side which are getting more frequent over the past week, but shrug it off because I'm only 16 weeks and I was told a while back I had an anterior placenta 🤷🏻‍♀️

Zaalfruit · 25/04/2020 16:08

Everyone is making me laugh so much . Stroking hairy belly 😂🤪

ChickenDipper28 · 25/04/2020 16:24

@Zaalfruit It fluffs up when I dry it after a shower 🤣 Might have to start shampooing it!

BooMamaBear · 25/04/2020 17:08

Hope you hay fever sufferers are doing ok it's such a bummer coz your nose feels bunged up when you're pregnant anyway coz of the increase blood flow through your vessels!
My 20 week scan is 3 weeks on Tuesday I'll be just over 19 weeks I'm 16w on Sunday!
My bump is now really firm and when I wake up it's usually mainly on the left but evens out when I get up I've been in maternity leggings for weeks coz none of my jeans fit over my tummy! I've just ordered some more pairs!!
Got a new pregnancy pillow coming on Monday coz I'm getting shoulder, ear and hip ache from laying on my left as I can't lay on my back! Xx

Zaalfruit · 25/04/2020 19:27

Ahh so jealous of everyone who has their belly’s showing !! Getting a little stressed- however I’m hoping it’s cos I’m a ftm it will take some time to show .

@ChickenDipper28 such a funny image in my head 🤣😂

MrsD1990 · 25/04/2020 19:42

Sorry to hear about the hay fever everyone! Husband really suffers from it too and is constantly sneezing.

Had another bad night's sleep last night but at least got to sleep in in the morning!

Had fun researching baby stuff to buy today! For the first time I decided to research what I need to buy the baby before they come (haven't had the energy before now with all the nausea and fatigue etc) Started a spreadsheet with links and prices etc where I found things I liked. It was so much fun! Can see why people have bought lots already, was feeling super broody looking at all the cute clothes etc (well maybe not broody since I'm pregnant already). I think I'll start buying clothes after my 20 week scan but not make the bigger purchases like the pram etc until closer to the time

BooMamaBear · 25/04/2020 19:46

@Zaalfruit - think I'm only showing coz my stomach muscles are knackered from my DD -when I had her I didn't look pregnant til about 21 weeks but once it starts it grows quickly by 29 weeks I was pretty big!! Xx

Treaclepie19 · 25/04/2020 19:53

@Zaalfruit definitely a first baby thing.
My first I was 20 weeks before you could see much. This time I look 30 weeks already!

ChickenDipper28 · 25/04/2020 21:34

@Zaalfruit I haven't really started showing yet! Ftm here and I've got a little bigger but doesn't look like a bump yet, more like a bulge towards the bottom and I'm 16 weeks.

blankiesandunicorns · 25/04/2020 22:13

@roarfeckingroar Please don't struggle along, if you need extra support ask for it and try and be open with people about your thoughts and feelings.

Anyone else struggling with this lockdown now? Iv been working from home and teaching our children this week and iv really felt stressed and caged in. I can't do the things that keep me
mentally well

Spark27 · 25/04/2020 23:39

@blankiesandunicorns, I'm not surprised you're feeling like that, you have a lot on your plate. How old are your kids? Are they able to 'entertain themselves' for a bit with film/tablet/games, just to break up the home schooling and give you a chance to relax or work? Do you have any leave days you can pop in randomly to limit the amount you have to complete for work? Do you have a partner around who can help divide up the schooling? Or take on some housework?
I'm definitely switching between positive days and really fed up days. I find the beginning of the week harder as it just seems to loom ahead, whereas the end of the week feels like I'm getting somewhere. Sending love and patience your way Flowers

@Zaalfruit, last time I didn't really get a bump until 20w and even then it grew through the day. Probably wasnt til about 22w it really popped and was permanently there. Even now at 18w with my 2nd I still just feel fat and wobbly in the am until food pushes it out again

Spark27 · 25/04/2020 23:40

@blankiesandunicorns that was supposed to be flowers and not gin. Although gin is probably want you want in the middle of a difficult day!

Treaclepie19 · 26/04/2020 07:55

@blankiesandunicorns that sounds really tough. I'm feeling the same and have no reason to. I'm a SAHM and my husband is WFH. Just my mental health is struggling with not being able to come and go as I please.

Quiffy · 26/04/2020 08:32

@ChickenDipper28 it could be worth a phone to double check you didn’t need to book, but I have seen a few saying the same, that it’s around 17w. It’s hard when every area is different!

I also fluff up the hair after a shower hehe. It’s so much fun - you have to make the most of looking like an ape @Zaalfruit it does give a funny image though 😹😹

@MrsD1990 shopping is so much fun, although the pram bit scares me a little. I need to make a spreadsheet to make sure I’ve not gone crazy on the clothes...

@blankiesandunicorns hope you’re okay, I’m finding it hard enough to concentrate on work, never mind home school as well :(

Managed to clean out the back room/future nursery a good bit, but definitely found that being overly physical makes me ill. Ended up being sick for first time in a week and feeling 🤮🤮 for rest of day. Still here this morning which feels like a waste for the weekend.

Buzz22 · 26/04/2020 09:39

Hi ladies haven't checked in for a few days as my 16 week consultant appointment left me feeling really crap. Was totally pointless and whoever it was I spoke to on the phone really upset me. Only lasted about 5 mins in total if that. Maybe I'm just being hormonal! I dont know.
She straight away said 'so you're feeling the baby move yes?', I said 'no I am only 16 weeks though'. She said 'but it's a second pregnancy, usually you notice sooner', I said 'well last time I didn't feel the baby move at all...he physically couldn't move as I had no fluid and I lost him at 22 weeks', she said 'yes i can see that on your notes' then changed the subject to something about smear tests. Said I'd be there in about 2 weeks for my next cervical length scan so she didn't have anything else to say. Then got off the phone. Haven't spoken to her before. Think it was the initial question about baby movement that set me off. Was a totally useless phone call to be honest.
Also heard from my midwife that my 16 week appointment with her next week will be over the phone.

Fellow hayfever sufferer here! The sneezing is driving me mad! Mines worse in the morning. Yesterday was particularly bad and I woke up at 5am and couldn't stop sneezing for an hour. I did have to pop into the chemist so I asked the pharmacist if there was anything that would help in pregnancy and he said no! He suggested trying barrier cream. Do any of you find it actually helps?

No bump here yet. Just a bit fatter round the waist. So I haven't yet bothered ordering maternity leggings as Im still wearing my usual. Boobs haven't grown either. Think that is stressing me out too. Want some sign of baby!

Sorry for all the ranting. Obviously having a bit if a down week...
