@LexiM he sourced me a tuna baked potato so I've forgiven him now. These men definitely need some pregnancy tact though... Or I'm pretty sure we can get off with a few stabbings due to pregnancy hormones. Ahh you sound so productive!! Feel free to come over and hoover here haha.

@NWnature I had to buy knick knocks off Amazon as my usual was sold out. They weren't maternity ones but I was super shocked by how soft and nice they were - much nicer than my bog-standard supermarket ones. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01M0V9BN8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

@Glitterbug86 That link is amazing thanks!

I'm not sure what weight I should consider as my first. I weighed X a week before my BFP then I lost around 13lbs before my first midwife where I was weighed so Y. Unsure what I should use in my head as SW. I guess Y as that's what's in my preggo notes and ideally want to put as little on as possible. Jumped on the scales this morning and I'm Y+5 so put on 5lbs. Not as bad as I thought as eating through nausea.

Looks like I'm aiming to only put on between 11 to 20lbs by end of pregnancy. Nice to have a number in mind!

@ChickenDipper28 welcome and congrats! FTM too, I'm due Oct 5th :) I'm with you on the nausea and sickness, been a bloody killer. Hoping it eases soon.

@HerondaleDucks Oooh a fizz is very exciting!!!

@BntTowers How was your mattress topper? I saw that too, I think I'm going to give it until July for a pram, if it's not letting up I'm just going to have to order online. I'm also thinking about putting together a shortlist of more expensive ones to look out for on Gumtree etc. and get sooner. Just a bit sad not getting to march around a shop with a pram.

@roarfeckingroar was it good? I have a big U-shaped one but it's not comfy for me so looking for something different.

HerondaleDucks · 23/04/2020 07:29

@ChickenDipper28 my first time doing this. Sorry to hear how poorly you've been! Hope things brighten up for you now. I heard we're supposed to start glowing soon.

@roarfeckingroar that pregnancy pillow sounds amazing! Did it help you sleep?

I tried everything to get rid of the indigestion yesterday... I couldn't sleep I was so uncomfortable and I've woken up this morning and it's still here. Angry

HerondaleDucks · 23/04/2020 07:31

@BntTowers I hope the mattress topper helped!
It's all a bit worrying about this lockdown. I was thinking the same thing.

ChickenDipper28 · 23/04/2020 07:57

@roarfeckingroar There seems to be a few of us due around the same date! 😬 Oh how was your new pillow?

@Quiffy Thank you! Congrats to you too ☺️ Lovely having so many people around the same due date! Oh no, it's the worst! I hope your sickness eases up soon too. Nobody tells you how difficult it is trying to keep it quiet for the first 12 weeks when you feel so rough!
To jump in on your pillow conversation, I have the DreamGenii and I love it, it really helps keeping you laying on your left hand side throughout the night.

@HerondaleDucks Thank you, I hope so too.
Can't wait for the glowing to start 🤣

Quiffy · 23/04/2020 08:14

@HerondaleDucks Have you been using Gaviscon? The Tums that you can get on Amazon are pretty good too.

@ChickenDipper28 I know! I've no idea how people in work keep it quiet. I WFM freelance so I don't have an office or colleagues - there's no way I could have hid it. Apparently 16 weeks is the average for it calmning down so fingers crossed for us both. That pillow looks ideal, I have a £20 Amazon voucher (I swear I don't work for Amazon, despite bleeting on about them all morning haha) so that one could be a shout.

BntTowers · 23/04/2020 08:20

@Quiffy it's was so good, although I didn't sleep well. One of the cats decided to stay out last night and at 2.30 it was time to come in. He has such a loud meow and he woke me up so I had to go down and let him in then I was awake for about 3 hours then had a really weird dream that SIL didn't know she was pregnant then went into labour and had conjoined twins and a another baby with a bit of a funny bumpy head which looks like it may have been another conjoined twin.
I'm late getting up today, will definitely need a nap by lunch time. I have a crescent shaped pregnancy pillow and it's just not helping yet. I find it too big, so I'm quite glad in a way I didn't go for a U shaped one.

ChickenDipper28 · 23/04/2020 08:35

@Quiffy I really struggled at work to cover it up because I felt so ill 😳 I'm pretty sure everybody guessed straight away. Probably that and the running to the toilet every 5 minutes to pee was a clue giver! You so lucky you didn't have to hide it.

Fingers crossed for us both! Then we can start enjoying pregnancy a little more without the sickness Smile
Ooh, it's okay, everyone loves a little Amazon from time to time 🤭 I've found it's really helped my back too, although sometimes I do pop a normal pillow behind my back as well for extra support

Quiffy · 23/04/2020 08:45

@BntTowers Cats, I love them, but they can be right little turds at times. Definitely get that nap in! Those dreams sound super freaky no wonder you're knackered.

I was thinking crescent-shaped but I'm just not sure what will help. I'm waking up with such sore hips and back. I might just get a spare pillow out and try it before I buy anything else. It is the big factor, with DH, cats, the pillow and the fact I move a lot - it's just too much.

@ChickenDipper28 That dream genii looks pretty interesting as it tucks under more. Looks more like that I'm looking for. Ahhh decisions.

The needing to pee more is a definite give away! I used to work in a place where one of the office women kept a spreadsheet of your bathroom visits - another reason why I WFH now. Bring on being a SAHM haha.

BntTowers · 23/04/2020 08:54

@Quiffy I've been using a pillow with a little cushion under it to give a bit more height. DH ended up taking over the whole bed by the time I got back upstairs last night so I had to get rid of them. Cats are a nightmare at times. This one will follow us on a walk, decide he has gone far enough then start with the foghorn meow to get us to go back and let him in. He's quite popular with a few of the neighbours because he's so friendly and chatty, but embarassing a lot of the time.

DH thinks even if social distancing does carry on they will open up some of the bigger shops soon, he was trying to compare b&q to John Lewis "what's the difference really?" He just got a massive eye roll and I was too fed up to talk to him last night about it!

@ChickenDipper28 I ended up telling work mega early because I wanted to work from home sooner rather than later in regards to Covid so I told them at about 9 weeks. I've since messaged the rest of the team to say, but if it's a possibility that the office doesn't re-open for a while it might be that I don't go back in! Just have to wait and see.

HerondaleDucks · 23/04/2020 09:00

I know what you mean. I told my work very early on for the same reasons.
They've been very supportive but I have joked to my line manager that I might have actually given birth by the time this is over!

otterbaby · 23/04/2020 09:22

@Quiffy I'm also struggling with really sore hips and lower back. At the minute, I'm sleeping with a normal pillow under my bum to help cushion my hips a bit more, and then I have a crescent shaped maternity pillow from M&P. The crescent shaped one is good for cuddling against yourself as it sort of cradles your bump, but both are doing F-all for my hips. I'm not sure if there even is a solution! Laying on my back helps but obviously not meant to, so...

What are Braxton Hicks meant to feel like? I woke up last night (1/50,000 times) to roll over and laid on my back for a minute to rest my hips. I felt my tummy and one part of it was rock hard. After about 15 seconds it went away. No sort of "tightening" though. Unsure if that's just my uterus rolling around inside me?! Pretty sure it wasn't the baby.

roarfeckingroar · 23/04/2020 10:06

@Quiffy @HerondaleDucks @ChickenDipper28 it's a U one and yes I slept very well thank you! To be honest I always sleep very well but having the pillow to keep my hips level was awesome. I may well have a nap later, just as it's there.

Treaclepie19 · 23/04/2020 10:57

@otterbaby sounds like braxton hicks to me. Mine started yesterday too.

I've also got sore hips. I'm waking up so achey and sore even with my pillow.
Ligament pain is really bothering me today too.
I've also just fallen asleep on the sofa while my 4yo was playing. Safe to say I'm feeling rather pregnant today 😂

ChickenDipper28 · 23/04/2020 11:56

@Quiffy I find it doesn't take up loads of the bed either which the OH appreciates haha. Let me know what you go for ☺️ I remember researching non stop because of all the decisions out there!

Wow, that's crazy! 🤣 Can't wait to be a SAHM, we'll love every second!

@BntTowers @HerondaleDucks
I also told work very early, around 6 weeks! But only because work includes heavy lifting and running around constantly on my feet! You're so lucky you can work from home, I wish I could. Fingers crossed the Covid situation improves soon as it's a scary time ☹️ You may not have to go back until after your maternity leave 😱

@roarfeckingroar I nearly went for a U one! I'm glad you slept well. I completely agree, the pillow is there to be used so why not have extra naps? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Quiffy · 23/04/2020 12:07

@ChickenDipper28 Going to have a proper look tonight and decide, I'm just procrastinating from work atm hehe.

@BntTowers That's so funny following you making a scene. Cats really are so bad haha. And spoiled. I think that's the problem, ours get away with murder.

@otterbaby @treaclepie19 I feel like we should be given the bed to ourselves with various cushions to try out. DH would sooner out me on the couch though. Not really sure what to do about the pain or if anything will help argh.

Well I just had my midwife phone appointment - I thought it was tomorrow afternoon. Glad I had my phone near and at least I dont need to sit and worry about when they'll ring now

Glitterbug86 · 23/04/2020 12:52

@Quiffy I'd go with weight Y seeing as that's what they will be working off when monitoring you, but I'd say anywhere around that is fine. Does it change by much when you put in weight X?

Anyone looking for maternity leggings - I had a pair of the new look seamless ones arrive today and they are really comfy (I'd already ordered and returned some from Very - these are much better). And new look are doing 20% off over £50 if anyone was thinking about picking up a few bits. They have a good range of maternity wear!

Quiffy · 23/04/2020 13:50

@Glitterbug86 Yeah I think that makes the most sense to use, I better put down the extra cake... hehe.

BntTowers · 23/04/2020 14:19

Oh I am craving chocolate and sweet things so much. There is nothing in the house like that and DH keep refusing to buy any. I'm fed up of eating so healthy. Is there such a thing as too much fruit and veg? Yesterday I had 8 portions of the stuff. Seriously thinking tonight's walk will be to the corner shop to get something sweet.

Also I tried to nap at lunch but didn't work. At least there were 30 minutes of no phone/computer, bit I'm still exhausted.

Spark27 · 23/04/2020 14:32

@BntTowers both times I've been pregnant I've turned into a cake/biscuits/chocolate, etc fiend. I'm not like that usually. I'm having to make sure I get lots of veg in with my meals to stop me feeling so guilty.
I'm fed up with having to send DH to do the food shopping, and dont know what I want until I see it. Last night I really wanted twiglets or salt and vinegar crisps, but obvs I hadn't thought of that when I wrote the shopping list.

Had a productive hours whilst DD is napping. Just got out all my old maternity clothes and put away some other clothes to make space for them. Basically things I cant fit in to (normal skinny jeans, work trousers, skirts, etc) or anything I dont want to be stretched out and ruined as been boxed up and put away. All the maternity clothes, anything baggy, or anything I dont mind getting stretched is left out. Means I now have space for my clothes and can work out what I need. But just doing that has knackered me so I'm now collapsed and hoping that she sleeps until near 1500 Brew

MrsD1990 · 23/04/2020 14:42

@Quiffy someone had a spreadsheet with toilet trips in it!?!? Wtf that's insane - don't know which is worse, if she did it on her own accord or if it was company policy!

I've had two very bad night's sleep in a row so really struggling today. Husband says I should go for a nap which is tempting but I'm meant to be working and also I'm quite a bad napper (always wake up more tired than I went to sleep). At least the nausea seems to have lifted a little this week, at long last. Still have loads of food aversions though.

@bnttowers 8 portions!? That's amazing!! I pat myself on the back if I manage three these days because I have an aversion to most vegetables right now. Really doesn't sit well with me. Hoping that with the nausea going away I'll be able to eat normally soon.

Anyone got tips on getting back to sleep after waking up to pee? Seems to be just luck whether I go straight back to sleep or not!

LexiM · 23/04/2020 15:00

@BntTowers I would keep moaning at your husband until he gives in on the cake front! 8 portions, you are doing well... I have been trying to up mine since I can stomach food but still don’t always get to 5.

I love a good clear out although I agree about needing a nap after. I can’t do anything without feeling tired later on even with more energy.

I couldn’t believe it’s 8 weeks sometimes for a pram to come, I will need to be more organised on my research than I realised although I did see the news so who knows how much use we will get out of it this year!

I’m also part of the I own an annoying cat club. Ours randomly starts running up and down the stairs in the middle of the night. He also keeps scratching our sofa, he used to be good at scratching his own post but I think it’s so worn out he’s moved on! And the thing that annoys me the most is he knows he’s not allowed to do it, he’s started looking at me and making sure I’m watching before he scratches, little beep!!!

@Quiffy a pee spreadsheet!! What is wrong with her... I would definitely have lots of ticks next to my name. 🤣

@MrsD1990 I also have problems sometimes going back to sleep after going to the loo, I wait a bit and if I still can’t get to sleep I listen to meditation or sleep podcast and usually fall asleep before the episode ends. The more boring the better!

BooMamaBear · 23/04/2020 15:02

I've read it's better to lay on your left side and not on your back in second trimester but then I wake up coz my shoulder hurts so I add an extra pillow but then my ear hurts so I keep waking up mega early and can't get back to sleep!! Apart from mild back pain I feel much comfier in my back I'm almost 16w do you think it matters that much this early? Xx

Treacle81 · 23/04/2020 15:36

Hey girls! I’ve had an awful headache since last night! I also prefer sleeping on back as start off on left side but then my shoulder, ear and hip hurts so I have to move and the baby really doesn’t seem to like me being on the right side at all so only option is my back.i think it’s after 20 wks that it’s a no no tho, so still a while yet. Yea I got the New Look vests and leggings and so comfy! Big yet but v comfy Beautiful day! xx

Aquablue1123 · 23/04/2020 16:10

@Spark27 I feel the exact same about the food shopping, my DH sticks precisely to the list! I asked him 'don't you fancy picking anything else up as you're walking around' he said no that's what a list is for 🤦🏼‍♀️. Every time he gets back I fancy something and we haven't got it in.

@BntTowers wow 8 portions, that's impressive. I definitely need to up my veg intake now the sickness has subsided.

Quiffy · 23/04/2020 16:32

@BntTowers Husband are there to be slaves to pregnant ladies. If you want sugar he should be making you cake from scratch. Great job on the veggies.

@Spark27 sounds super sensible - get a rest in now.

@MrsD1990 @lexim Honestly the craziest place I've ever worked. It was this mad women who did admin and if he didnt go in and befriend her she'd make your life a misery. So glad to not be there anymore.

@Treacle81 Hope your headache gets better
