Hi girls! Beautiful day ☺️ Oh so exciting to find out sex i bet! Congrats to those that have 💙🎀! I’m hoping to find out at 20 wk scan, we’ll see. Are you all feeling baby moving? I wasn’t sure at first but defo feeling movements either first thing or late at night. Not so much kicking but more like the ‘lava lamp’ feeling. Started back my exercise regime so feeling a little more myself which is great xx

@Indigogirl88 it’s awful that people are going on about a preference for you. I think it’s fair enough for the parents (you and your husband) to be honest about that but not everyone else. My husband has a slight preference for a girl and I think because of that I keep saying it’s going to be a boy and talk about it as he. I actually have no idea what sex it is.

@Treacle81 how exciting, I cannot wait to feel the baby move and especially later on for my husband to feel it! It will be the first real sign of a baby for him since missing the scan.

I’ve had a better day today, also managed to persuade my husband to go through his side of the wardrobe and have a clear out. He owns so many shirts and now works from home so wears one in normal circumstances probably once a month. Is anyone else having to empty/rearrange a room to make room for baby? I keep most of my bits (cosmetics, hair dryer, some clothes) in the spare room so will need to relocate these once a cot goes into that room. I have also used it as my own mini dressing room which was a luxury.

blankiesandunicorns · 19/04/2020 20:13

That's lovely @treacle81 how exciting! How far gone are you? I think feeling baby move would really relax me right now. I think I might have felt it earlier but not sure. Can't ever tell that difference between that and wind!

BntTowers · 19/04/2020 20:21

@Treacle81 that's so exciting, I can't wait to feel baby move, but as this is my first I think you generally feel it later with your first. How far along are you again? It would help calm so much anxiety to feel some little movements.

NWnature · 19/04/2020 21:08

I’m also so excited for the baby to move. When did people start feeling with their first?

We went for a really long walk today and I am absolutely shattered!

Has anyone started using oils/ moisturiser to try and swerve stretch marks?

Indigogirl88 · 19/04/2020 22:25

I've felt very faint popping but not sure entirely! Do we find out at the 20w scan the location of the placenta?

Spark27 · 19/04/2020 22:42

@Indigogirl88, I asked at my 12w scan and she said it looked to be at the back and high up. I said something like 'so it's not blocking the exit then' and she said no, you should be fine. I think it was on my notes last time so maybe it gets added in at 20w scan when its confirmed?

@NWnature I've been using Palmers stretch mark cream for the last few months, but only when I remember, so usually every couple of days. I need to get back in to the habit of using it regularly but I usually remember when I've just got into bed. I used it last time and didn't get any stretch marks, but I think I'm def going to be bigger this time.

My 1st pregnancy I had definite movements from 19w, but I think around 18w I had some popping and butterfly flutters. I hoped I'd be feeling them early this time but 17w and I'm not sure. Think I keep getting a nudge here and then, but cant be definite.

roarfeckingroar · 19/04/2020 22:47

I love your name @otterbaby . I want to call our baby Ottilie if it's a girl partly due to my otter obsession but DP has vetoed precisely for that reason Grin. That's a great photo congratulations! If you don't mind me asking, where are you based? We went to a private scan at 9 weeks (London), it was brilliant and I would like another to find out the sex and so DP can see the baby again (not allowed to attend NHS scan) but I'm not sure if the clinics are open.

roarfeckingroar · 19/04/2020 22:49

@Indigogirl88 I don't think I can resist finding out the sex. You have more patience / self control than I do!

Buzz22 · 19/04/2020 23:11

@NWnature I'm using mama mio tummy rub butter. Bit pricey but smells gorgeous and they had an offer on the bounty pregnancy app. I think I'll buy another tub just because its feels and smells lovely!

@Indigogirl88 I think at the 20 week scan. I had a cervical length scan last week and consultant told me mine was currently low and towards the front. She also said it can move quite a bit at this time in pregnancy.

otterbaby · 20/04/2020 07:41

@roarfeckingroar I love the name Ottilie! Don't give up on that one yet haha. I'm up in the North East but we had the scan at window to the womb which I'm sure is based all over the country?

Quiffy · 20/04/2020 07:52

@Zaalfruit Good thanks, nothing last night but back this morning. I found a thread on a Facebook group talking about it and made me feel much better. It's so hard when you don't know what's normal.

@roarfeckingroar @otterbaby Ottilie is super cute

BntTowers · 20/04/2020 08:35

I've not been sleeping well at all and I'm always in a terrible mood about it in the morning. This morning I ordered a memory foam mattress topper which I'm hoping will held with the hip and back pain. DH seems to think mattresses last forever, I keep telling him 7-10 year, we are at the 9 year mark now... Just so frustrating when I can't sleep and I wake up aching. I also ordered a sun lounger as we only have wood garden furniture and as we will be staying in for the foreseeable, might as well make use out of it!

@Quiffy I'm sure your anxiety will ease throughout the day, it's a shame about your scan being cancelled. It's 5 1/2 weeks until my 20 week one, I've been looking at some private ones but the only 2 in my area are not allowing partners in so it seems a bit selfish.

@otterbaby @roarfeckingroar Ottilie is a super cute name, good nickname choice as well in Ottie.

Aquablue1123 · 20/04/2020 08:48

@Quiffy I'm exactly the same today! I've even resorted in downloading MyBabyBeat on iPhone to try and hear the heart beat when I know this is not going to work 🤦🏼‍♀️.

BntTowers · 20/04/2020 09:02

@NWnature I'm using an oil by a independent company called Our Little Bees, not sure if it's helping anything, but it's making my skin feel lovely. If I forget to use that in the morning before bed I use Lush Dream cream. I need some more actually going to have to have a look and see if I'm able to order online yet. I think there's not too much you can do as they are hereditary, keeping skin moisturised will help though and give you 5 minutes in the morning of looking after yourself.

Treaclepie19 · 20/04/2020 09:15

Im not sleeping well either and I'm so grumpy. Doesn't help that I did get to sleep and then had to wake to go to the toilet at 1.30. Then took ages to sleep again and then our 4yo woke up at 4am ready to start the day.
He eventually went back to sleep and I had an hour more. I am knackered 😴😭
Then I tried to get ready and spent 10 minutes dry heaving after brushing my teeth. 😩

However, only 2 weeks until I get to see baby again and I'm hoping to find out the sex then too ❤ I'm impatient to name baby and I can start making bits for their room.

Treaclepie19 · 20/04/2020 09:16

Ooh and you've all reminded me to start using bio oil again. I've used it the past two times so thought I would again.

Treacle81 · 20/04/2020 09:17

Morning girls! Beautiful name @roarfeckingroar. How weird @Quiffy and @Aquablue1123was very anxious through the night too. If it wasn’t for the ‘wave machine’ in front of me I’d be the same. This is my second baby and they do say you can feel things quicker. Think I was around 18 wks with my son, I’m 16 weeks today xx

OP posts:
Quiffy · 20/04/2020 09:29

@Treaclepie19 16 weeks today too! There must be something in the air - don't even have a reason for it just feeling teeth gritty and worried. Ahhh being able to feel soon will be so exciting, be interesting to see if it's earlier this time around for you.

@Aquablue1123 That app sounds scary, did you give it a try?

@BntTowers I think there's ones about 45 minutes away that will let partner in if "absolutely necessary" but I don't know what that means and I agree that it feels unfair to go to another scan without DH.

A mattress topper made a big difference to ours, agree you could do with a new one - that's super annoying especially when you're struggling and in pain. A new mattress seems a good investment atm - especially when sleep might be scarce come October and a good mattress will help.

@Treaclepie19 Not a good sleep at all, hope you can fit a nap in. Very exciting for next scan thouugh!

Indigogirl88 · 20/04/2020 09:33

Morning ladies sounds like we are all having bad night sleeps, I fall asleep early but then I'm awake around 2 or 3 am and then till 7am with bad back. Last night was the worst. Love the idea of the sun lounger @BntTowers my garden is pretty small and i do want to get out and do a few bits

I found that doing some back exercises this morning has helped ease my back a bit, they say its worst during 3rd trimester so we better get ready!

I'm using this Avon oil on my skin not sure if it's doing much either, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who's skipping days haha!

Is anyone else feeling super emotional at the minute it's like HCG switched off then progesterone has come in with vengeance, I'm feeling fat, greasy, my arse is huge and I feel ugly. I think being in locked down isn't helping as I have no real urge to make myself look pretty every day. Must make some time for a pamper today or tomorrow

roarfeckingroar · 20/04/2020 09:44

@otterbaby @Quiffy I know I just love Ottilie but I think I might have to give in this time. Maybe I'll swap the father and have one next time GrinGrin.

I've seen I can still get a private scan here (London) and I'm sorely tempted do have another in a week or so because my 20 week isn't until the end of May. I'm certain it's a girl but I would like to know for sure.

roarfeckingroar · 20/04/2020 09:46

@BntTowers sounds like you need a new mattress now. I'm sure you can convince your husband if you're grumpy enough

roarfeckingroar · 20/04/2020 09:49

@Indigogirl88 yes absolutely. I was very teary yesterday and haven't been for a couple of weeks. Ended up sobbing for no reason with DP saying come on, let it out, which made me laugh instead but it really helps knowing he gets it and doesn't think I'm an irrational loon - just a pregnant one. I know logically I haven't really put much weight on but I feel like I have and it's only going to get worse. I feel like a snotty beached whale.

BntTowers · 20/04/2020 10:06

@roarfeckingroar yeah, it's not going to happen our compromise is changing spare bed and our mattress and a topper. This does mean we have to move one down stairs and one upstairs, not looking forward to that.
I'm super emotional as well at the moment, mostly angry and annoyed, but crying is almost daily at the moment for some reason.

@Indigogirl88 My excuse is that the vitamin D helps baby, not that I sit out in the sun for long, just nice to have something comfy to sit out on when I do.

Indigogirl88 · 20/04/2020 10:36

Sounds lovely @BntTowers

I've been spending the morning looking at nub theory online 😂
