@blankiesandunicorns I would automatically say no, but given the current circumstances and how things are differing between hospital/medical trusts (many examples in this group alone), I cant say. You might get a sonographer who will do that, but who knows.
With the NHS 20w scan they dont have to tell you the gender if it's not immediately obvious, cos their biggest requirement is to check the health.
A private gender scan they will definitely put it in an envelope.

I'm really hoping to find out the gender I my NHS scan in a few weeks as my private gender one that was supposed to be today was cancelled.

Quiffy · 19/04/2020 07:37

@LexiM same as you, bit of tidying and organising the house. The back bedroom is a riot though, I keep putting things in bags and leaving them to sort later... ahh.

@Aquablue1123 Congrats on boy!! That's very exciting

blankiesandunicorns · 19/04/2020 08:41

Thank you @Quiffy me neither unfortunately

blankiesandunicorns · 19/04/2020 08:42

@spark we nearly booked a private one but didn't because on the website it said not to if it's just to find out the sex. Why was yours cancelled? Is the partner allowed in for a private one?

Treacle81 · 19/04/2020 09:52

Morning girls! @blankiesandunicorns I’ve heard that they won’t write it down for liability reasons however some hospitals will tell you if you ask. I’m hoping giving these circumstances they will hopefully help us out as really want us both to find our together xx

Morning ladies, I'm having a proper lazy morning today, and keep thinking about food!

How did you sleep @Aquablue1123 I'm so hoping my pillow comes this week it's due Friday im so excited!

otterbaby · 19/04/2020 10:47

We had our private scan this morning - it's a girl! 🥰 what a way to start off our Sunday!

@blankiesandunicorns I rang yesterday to check and they said my partner was allowed to come. We went in for a "fetal medicine check" but they had absolutely no issues checking the sex while they had me in there.

Early Oct babies part 3!
Glitterbug86 · 19/04/2020 10:53

Aw congratulations @otterbaby so exciting!

apple777 · 19/04/2020 11:20

Congratulations @otterbaby that’s a beautiful pic. How far along are you? I’m going from a scan tomorrow morning and will be 14 weeks.

Quiffy · 19/04/2020 11:27

@blankiesandunicorns It's really rubbish, I hope you can find a way around it or find a private scan. We decided to try with a couple of nub places as we figured it's only fun and they both came back 90% boy and we read at the same time and it kinda feels like we've found out together.

@otterbaby congratulations on your girl! And absolutely gorgeous scan photo

Aquablue1123 · 19/04/2020 11:27

@Indigogirl88 I actually had a really nice sleep and didn't get up once, I woke up desperate for the toilet but I obviously was too comfy too move. The pillow was smaller than I thought it would be but it did the trick. I got the Mums & Bumps Dreamgenii Pregnancy & Feeding Pillow.

@otterbaby ahhh congratulations, how beautiful; look at her little nose! So cute 💖 xxx

blankiesandunicorns · 19/04/2020 11:32

Lovely pic @otterbaby!

Did you go because you needed to for medical reasons or just to find out the sex? I'm not sure we will get an opportunity to go with no one to have our other children. I completely understand people going to find out the sex but didn't know if they grill you when you get there about your reasons.

otterbaby · 19/04/2020 11:43

@apple777 I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow x

@blankiesandunicorns we went because we lost our first baby at 16 weeks last October so I was feeling very anxious about hitting that gestation "anniversary" if you will...just needed a bit of reassurance that everything was still cooking properly in there! But they didn't even ask questions about why I was there, I ticked on the form that we were there to check on the well-being of the baby and to find out the gender and nobody even blinked twice.

Thanks everyone 😊

MsSian93 · 19/04/2020 11:44

Morning ladies,

Congratulations to those finding out! We found a place near us still doing reassurance scans and my partner was able to come too. She checked everything over which was really nice to be able to go into the 20week scan on my own a bit more relaxed. We also found out it's a boy! It was glaringly obvious even if we hadn't wanted to find out haha!

blankiesandunicorns · 19/04/2020 11:48

@otterbaby goodness me you must have needed that reassurance after what you went through, I am so glad that baby is healthy. Thanks

I will see how I go as think you can book them with pretty short notice. My anxiety around the babies well-being is on and off so I may feel the need for it anyway. Lately I am finding myself worrying because I haven't confidently felt baby move yet and I'm 16 weeks.

Spark27 · 19/04/2020 11:51

@otterbaby, aggghhhh, congratulations. And I'm so jealous. Lol.

@blankiesandunicorns, we had a gender scan booked, which was cancelled as they aren't doing just gender scans or 4d scans as theres no medical reason. We could book in for a fetal medicine check and hope they tell us the gender too (I'm sure most would) but now we have the childcare problem too. One of the other reasons to go for the gender check was to take DD with us so shes a part of it and can understand it more. She could have come in before but now they cant and we wouldn't have anyone to leave her with. Her and DH would have to wait in the car, and then I might as well wait til NHS check.

Still pretty grumpy about it today though Grin

Spark27 · 19/04/2020 11:56

Congratulations @MsSian93. A little boy, yay.

@blankiesandunicorn, is it your 2nd? I cant be sure if I've felt mine yet either. It's my 2nd and I'm 17w 1d. Whenever I wonder if I have felt something it's gone straight away and it could just be my body. I was lucky enough to see the mw at 16w 5d and she heard the hb so that relaxed me a little at the mo.
I'm hoping if things relax later on we can get a later private scan in so DD can come too. Flowers

blankiesandunicorns · 19/04/2020 11:56

@spark27 it all quite hard work making it happen when you have to think about childcare too isn't it. How long do you have until your 20 week NHS scan?

LexiM · 19/04/2020 12:02

@otterbaby great scan picture and congratulations on a girl!

Everyone knowing their baby’s sex is making me excited and impatient to have my next scan. I’ve still got 6 weeks to wait still. Hopefully my next midwife appointment will fill a bit of that gap and it won’t feel like so long.

Well my productive Saturday went out the window, I just felt lousy by lunchtime and did nothing all day. I wonder if it’s because I over did it on Friday with the organising and cleaning! Glad to see the sun shining again today here.

Indigogirl88 · 19/04/2020 12:33

@otterbaby congratulations lovely pic!

I'm still keeping it a surprise I think till the birth. It super tempting to find out though!

Zaalfruit · 19/04/2020 12:43

@otterbaby congratulations 🥳 omg the scan is so clear as well . I am so happy for you - sending you lots of good vibes .
@MsSian93 congratulations on the boy 🥳🥳🥳 so jealous my private scan place wouldn't tell me .
@LexiM I’m the same impatient to know the gender I always thought I wouldn’t care !! My 20 week scan is in 4 weeks time I dunno if I can wait that long !!
@Spark27 You are lucky you got to hear the heart beat at 16 weeks - mine was so crappy over the phone and they set me up for a blood test on central London which is an hour away from where I live . Hopefully by our 20 weeks they relax the rules and your DD can be a part of it.

@Quiffy How are you? The pain is still there, I noticed if I sleep with a pillow under my left side the pain eases up - need to order a proper pregnancy pillow but I just feel that husband will steal it - anyone else have partners elbowing them - I think my husband had a weird dream last night as he woke me up and asked me if I’m pregnant I think my anxiety is getting to him .

Zaalfruit · 19/04/2020 12:45

@Indigogirl88 you have willpower !!! I have zero 🤪

Spark27 · 19/04/2020 13:14

@blankiesandunicorns, my scan is on the 6th May, so not too long to wait. But feels like an age. And before the next lockdown review so guessing DH def wont be able to come even if we didn't have DD to look after. I'll be 19w 4d then.

@Indigogirl88, so have so much more willpower than me. If I can know something I have to. This time round I'm blaming it on being able to know whether to keep DDs old clothes. And to prepare her.

@Zaalfruit, my DH kept me awake between 0300-0400 snoring. He had a video chat with his mates last night, and when I went to bed at 2330 they had been chatting since 2000! I think he drank a lot of rum, he cant remember much of the convos or when he came up to bed. I had to get up with DD even though it was his turn. Needless to say I've been smug today and he owes me.
I love my pregnancy pillow and he doesnt try to steal it. I dont think he'd dare. My cat does though

Indigogirl88 · 19/04/2020 15:52

@Spark27 I totally get that, dp would like to find out but I do have quite a lot of will power. The only thing I'm thinking is that it would be nice to be prepared with clothes especially being in lockdown, but I think I'll worry about that closer to the time.

The main reason I'm not finding out is because EVERYONE wants a boy, obviously I'm not bothered either way but its annoying me that everyone wants a boy I feel like saying I cant HELP IT! And then if it's a girl dp and his family will he disappointed, so basically I feel like if I control it till the birth, it's my way of telling everyone to sod off!

BntTowers · 19/04/2020 16:19

@Indigogirl88 we are waiting to find out too. I don't think anyone has a preference really, although DH would like a boy and keeps calling baby him.
I'm sure everyone will be happy no matter what the baby is. There is absolutely nothing anyone can do to determine the sex of a baby.
Good for you to keep up with the sod off attitude, definitely something I would do in the same situation!
It is so tempting to find out when everyone else is, but feel deep down I know really I would like to wait.
