Aw thank you everyone Grin. I had always planned to do everything in the "right" order but life gets you and I wouldn't change anything now.

Zaalfruit · 17/04/2020 23:14

@Indigogirl88 and @roarfeckingroar congratulations!! 🥳 fantastic news !! I love weddings and being engaged was my favourite time !!

@babymama09 That’s great news and good to hear regular check ups!

Questions for second time mummies is it usual - for first time mothers to be to get pins and needles and I have been having really bad abdominal pain all of today on my left side - it’s like a dull pressure - I’m so scared I booked a reassurance scan for tomorrow! Tried to get through to midwifes , doctors - no luck. I am hoping I just say funny whilst at work that caused . At first I thought it was hunger pain I skipped breakfast as I was so busy at work and had lunch at 2 pm but the pain hasn’t stopped . Hopefully I wake up pain free !!!

Zaalfruit · 17/04/2020 23:15

Just sat funny -*

Feel so annoyed the pain is getting on my nerves !!

Indigogirl88 · 18/04/2020 07:38

@roarfeckingroar yaay Flowers congratulations as well! I'm still hinting for a decent sized ring as soon as the shops re open 😂 life is never perfect eh, but weve got little ones growing now.

Also some good news one of my friends and my SIL gave birth this week, and had pretty positive birthing stories given the circumstances

Indigogirl88 · 18/04/2020 07:40

@Zaalfruit hope you get some answers, I'm a first time mum but I've still been getting all sorts of pains cramps etc and ive been mainly reassured it's all normal. I must admit I'm looking forward to my 20 week scan, it feels like it's going fast now. I'll be 17w next week!

Indigogirl88 · 18/04/2020 07:41

Ooops I've added a week I'll be 16 next week

Spark27 · 18/04/2020 07:59

@Zaalfruit, I cant remember that particular thing, but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Sorry your not getting any joy from trying your mw and drs. This wont help you over the weekend, but if you go to the Cow & Gate baby club online they have midwives on chat Mon-Fri from 0800-2000, I think. Could help with any random questions in the future.

Hope the scan goes well. I'm still smarting from mine being cancelled tomorrow. Grin

I'm 17w today. Yay. Woke up with another headache. Probably not going to get better as we've got an online toddler dance Class this am Gin

Quiffy · 18/04/2020 08:47

@Zaalfruit hope your scan goes well today. I’ve had ta pain in my left side for a few days. It ranges from shooting pains in my groin if I move suddenly to a dull pressure a little higher up. Sometimes it’s like a cramp you’d get before an upset stomach. From google it seems like round ligament pain - another joy of pregnancy 😅

@babymama09 glad your scan went well

@roarfeckingroar @Indigogirl88 just think of the cute little baby outfit you’ll be able to plan for the big day 😻

Anyone got any plans for the weekend?

Treacle81 · 18/04/2020 09:21

Morning girls! I’ve had stuffy noses for a whilst but last 3 mornings woke up with nose running then when I blow it, it’s all sore and bloody. I put Vaseline inside it before bed last night and seemed to help ease the stuffiness and not so bloody 🙌🏻 I woke with really bad pain yest morning but nothing today and have started up exercising in morning now no longer nauseous when wake. Done a HIIT yest and just completes yoga. Feels good! Welcome newbies and good luck for scan @Zaalfruit I’m sure it’ll just be round ligament pain xx

@Indigogirl88 @roarfeckingroar congrats, lovely news 😊

@Spark27 thanks for the tip on the cow & gate live chat - that will prob come in handy at some stage.

@zaalfruit good luck for your scan today. It's prob nothing but great you were able to get a scan so quickly for the reassurance. What time is it at? x

Glitterbug86 · 18/04/2020 09:48

Speaking of doing things in the "right" order.. we are renting and had hoped to buy before baby (we have been searching for a while) but then didn't want to put life on hold for the sake of doing things in the "right" order. Had hoped we might still find something before the birth but seems less likely now with corona..

You ladies all seem so organised when I see your posts about decorating nurseries and comparing various prams etc 😄 I haven't done any research on anything yet 😬 Feeling a bit out of my depth at times haha, but I think after the 20 week scan I will knuckle down then on what we need. And if we're still in our apartment we'll be just fine... I just have to remind myself of that sometimes ☺️

LostinAusten2 · 18/04/2020 09:55

@Glitterbug86 - feel exactly the same 😊 And I’m thinking after the 20 week scan as well; if the world hasn’t sorted itself out a bit by then we can just roll up sleeves and get on with some serious internet shopping 😄

Glitterbug86 · 18/04/2020 10:01

@LostinAusten2 glad I'm not the only one 🙂 Yeah, hopefully by then things will have returned to some degree of normality, but if not, I'm sure we'll all manage just fine!

Buzz22 · 18/04/2020 10:41

@Glitterbug86 I feel the same! Everyone is so organised on here! We were in the process of putting our lovely 1 bedroom flat on the market when covid-19 kicked off. So it seems like instead of up -sizing before baby arrives we'll be here still. I'm not complaining because I know we are lucky to already own a property and it gorgeous we wouldnt be selling if we didn't need the extra space. But it's not where we expected to be when baby gets here. So no nursery for us to decorate yet! Sometimes things dont go to plan but it could be so much worse. We have room for the time being.

@Treacle81 I have been suffering from terrible nasal congestion and tickling for weeks. It's very irritating. Happens as soon as I wake up so if I wake up at 5am needing a wee then I cant get back to sleep. I believe its pregnancy rhinitis. Probably with a bit of hayfever sneezing thrown in the past week! Driving me mad!

Spark27 · 18/04/2020 10:51

@Glitterbug86, I was exactly the same before DD arrived. We had moved but needed to clear and decorate the nursery, buy everything, get a new car, etc..... the list just went on and on. And DH was deployed and not home until Aug (DD was born end of Sep), so I really felt the pressure as there was a load of stuff i just physically couldn't do on my own, and a load of decisions i didn't want to make on my own (not that he was much use anyway!) But we were fine, and got it all sorted. All you need is a week or 2 or concentrated effort and you'll get it all pretty much sorted. But tbh it doesn't really matter much in the beginning. Provided you have a method to get baby home, somewhere for them to sleep, some clothes, feeding stuff and some nappies, everything else can wait til later. The babies dont care, it's just our expectations and wanting everything to be sorted (and those damn nesting instincts!)x

LexiM · 18/04/2020 11:37

@babymama09 glad your scan went well and they are monitoring you.

@Glitterbug86 don’t worry we still have plenty of time. I talk about sorting out my house and ideas for the nursery but I haven’t actually bought anything or done any decorating. We don’t own a single thing for the baby and probably won’t for months especially as we can’t go out. I think even when I get to 20 weeks I won’t be buying if we are still inside as I will wait in hope for the shops opening again! Even if i purchase online there’s lots I would prefer to look at in person first.

I know what I’m like i will think about it for ages before I get round to it, so seem organised but not really at all. 😄

@Zaalfruit hope everything goes well today. I sympathise with you about getting hold of the midwife, nobody ever answers the phone first time at our clinic. I wish there was a voicemail and they could call back as often I would be leaving a message for them to pass on anyway.

@Quiffy no real plans for the weekend and the weather isn’t great here for the garden either. I had a complete tidy and throw out session in our spare room yesterday so might finish that. I kind of have to whilst I’m on a roll as I don’t get the urge to organise and properly tidy very often! How about you?

Ahhh what an exciting time for both of you! @Indigogirl88 @roarfeckingroar congratulations!!!

Glad your scan went well @babymama09!

I'm very excited my maternity pillow arrived today ... hoping this means I have a lovely sleep on the cards for me this evening haha.

I've been so anxious over the past week, I just can't wait to have my scan next week, I'm just constantly worrying about him 💙 (we found out he's a boy Smile). Plus, all my symptoms are non-existent today, which scares me even though I should be happy! 🤦🏼‍♀️

So, today to take my mind off it, I've got the paddling pool out and I'm having a nice cold non-alcoholic beer in the garden!

My 'mum' friends told me that this is it now ... the worrying never goes away, ever! 🤣

Glitterbug86 · 18/04/2020 18:53

@Buzz22 @Spark27 @LexiM thanks all ☺️

@Aquablue1123 I have bouts of anxiety too but I guess that's normal. But there's nothing like seeing baby wriggling away at a scan to reassure you, so enjoy yours next week 😊

Zaalfruit · 18/04/2020 18:58

Hey everyone the pain is intermittent- I’m hoping it just stretching pains!

The scan was good - the person doing the scan confused me I asked if it’s a girl or boy and that I think it’s a girl and he said look carefully 🤪 I couldn’t see the baby was crossing his or her legs .

(Will feel a bit of relief till my 21 week scan. )

@Aquablue1123 I am the same anxious!! Aww enjoy your scan !

Glitterbug86 · 18/04/2020 19:21

Awh that's fantastic @zaalfruit, have been checking back today hoping for good news, so pleased for you, it must be such a relief!

Ha so I guess you'll have to wait another few weeks to learn if baby is a boy or girl. Something to look forward to x

Zaalfruit · 18/04/2020 19:29

@Glitterbug86 thank you !! I was so worried and then when I saw feral heart beat Felt relief !! How are you?

Zaalfruit · 18/04/2020 19:30

Fetal* omg what did my auto correct change it too 🤪🤪

BntTowers · 18/04/2020 21:20

@Zaalfruit I'm glad your scan went well, just have to wait to see if it's a boy or girl.

I've had such a lazy day today, even managed an after lunch nap, always tired but I'm finding it really hard to sleep at the moment. All I've done today is pot up a lavender plant and order a light shade.

I'm hoping tomorrow we can get out for a walk, just need to feel like I have the energy, which is non existent at the moment.

blankiesandunicorns · 18/04/2020 23:16

Hi all, wondering what everyone thinks. As partners aren't allowed to the 20 week scan do you think the sonographer would write what they think the sex is on paper and we open it afterwards together?

I'm wondering whether they won't because of either infection control reasons or because it might be like them committing to saying it's one sex or the other and they don't usually say 100%. What do people think?
