@zaalfruit and @LaxiM thanks for your kind words. I have spoken to my midwife before hand when she did a home visit and she has assured me that they will monitor me like they did with my youngest two children. But it's been 5 years since I was last in this position of pregnancy and my anxiety for the babies safety is slowly moving up a peak. Congrats to you on your pregnancy, bet you and your families cannot wait for your bundles of joy. My scan is at 11:50. Feel sick but really I'm excited too. Thanks for the advice I will speak to the consultant when I meet her today, she's the same I had for my younger two.

babymama09 · 17/04/2020 07:05

Sorry @LexiM.

Quiffy · 17/04/2020 08:00

@babymama09 welcome and sorry for your losses

Indigogirl88 · 17/04/2020 08:55

Thanks @Quiffy yeah a little better after a rant for sure!

Any other first time mums deliberating whether we need a pram for October? I'm obviously getting a car seat but I'm wondering if I can do with a sling until the spring, baby will be 5 months by then and could look at other options. What a everyones thoughts, am I being totally bonkers?

BntTowers · 17/04/2020 09:41

@Indigogirl88 we tried looking at prams last weekend online. I was just so overwhelmed by them DH has kinda decided what he thinks is best but I'm still not sure. I think as the winter continues I might want a pram, a few years ago I slipped on ice and really hurt my back so I'm always paranoid about it now and would dread to think what would happen when baby is being carried and if I slipped. Although I do want to try and carry more than use a pram at the moment, but we'll see how it goes.
Do whatever you think will suit you best. I suppose it depends where you live and what sort of activities you'll be doing. If you find you want a pram you can always go out and get one, try not to limit yourself is what I think I'm trying to say.

Sorry if I rambled, hardly any sleep last night due to lots of stretching and discomfort, this morning my hips hurt as well.

Treacle81 · 17/04/2020 10:14

Morning girls! @BntTowers I’m the same. Woke at 5 to really bad pains, lasted a few mins but v painful so scared me slightly then I had left hip pain which eased when I put pillow underneath me. Also burned my tummy with oven tray last night serving dinner due to this wee bump that appeared overnight! xx

BntTowers · 17/04/2020 10:20

@Treacle81 I've knocked mine a few times accidentally already. I hope your burn isn't too bad, such an awkward place to get one, but I can see myself doing the same at some point!

Has anyone thought about or had a pregnancy band before? I know they are for when you get a little bigger, but the fact I'm getting joint pain already makes me think one might be useful?

@babymama09 sorry for your previous losses, I hope all goes well at your scan today. Let us know how it goes.

Quiffy · 17/04/2020 10:35

@bnttowers @Treacle81 Same, up a lot of the night with pain in left groin and my hips and back are struggling with the way I'm sleeping. I have a massive pregnancy pillow but felt a bit claustrophobic with it in the bed before. Might need to retry though.

@Indigogirl88 I think I'll get a pram, I'm not sure on slings yet and not sure how I'll like them. Bit worried about picking a pram off the internet though. It's hard to know what to do...

I'm going to make a list of things I'd like I think. I got a good bargain for a new Tommee Tippee prep machine last night (I don't want to exclusively breastfeed) so pretty happy. It's like a little bubble of anxiety gone to have one thing off my imaginary list in my head.

BntTowers · 17/04/2020 11:23

@quiffy @indigogirl88 I'm hoping that we won't have to buy online and that we'll be able to get out to the shops at some point, even if it's fairly last minute. Pram especially as I think it's going to be important to test them out. I've been eyeing everyone who is walking past with one, seeing what brands neighbours have, is that a little weird?

I'm trying not to buy too much at the moment, I orders some nursing bras and some muslins last week as I'm finding wired bras hurt too much at the moment. I think the next thing I'm going to look at are breast pumps so DH can do a feed during the night. He is always awake for much later then I am so it makes sense.

DH was booking his holidays for the year yesterday, trying to plan lots of time off in November and December a bit of time at the end of September as well to help me during the last few weeks. I need to sort mine out as I have a full years allowance, but only 6 months to use it. I am definitely going down to 4 days a week during the last 6/7 weeks of work and having an extra week before Mat leave starts. Just keep thinking it's not too long now, especially on days like today where I'm getting micro managed from afar and I just want to tell them all where to go and to leave me alone to try and get caught up!

Treaclepie19 · 17/04/2020 11:36

Ooh @Quiffy where did you get your perfect prep?
We had one with our 4yo but got rid of it.

Quiffy · 17/04/2020 11:56

@Treaclepie19 Just on eBay, I really wanted a black one to match my kitchen haha. I was looking for secondhand but managed to get a new one cheap. Asda has the white ones on special at £60 atm I think as well.

@BntTowers That's a really good idea on the prams, gives you a better idea what they look like in person. Your 4 day week sounds like a great idea, hopefully the time comes in quickly and you can tell them all to eff off for good soon.

Indigogirl88 · 17/04/2020 12:00

@BntTowers no that's really helpful, hopefully the shops will open with plenty of time

I'm also reluctant to buy stuff but then I dont want to have to buy loads at the end and feel even more overwhelmed. I've started a list though which is helping me feel in control

Im also thinking of a band due to my back pain, probably get one after next pay day tbh

I'm also thinking of holidays but still not telling work but dp said that I can do what i want. By the way bit of good news I'm not officially engaged to dp yet but we are talking about getting married. Weve known each other years but only just got together a year ago. I don't want to be a pregnant bride so thinking of a spring wedding 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃 be my excuse to start the diet!

I'm actually feeling relatively human today apart from the hair needing a wash but I noticed my skin is looking a bit better this week. Could this be the start of the glow, I'll keep ya posted!

What's everyones plans this weekend?

Treacle81 · 17/04/2020 12:07

Oh v exciting news @Indigogirl88 💍🥳xx

BntTowers · 17/04/2020 12:12

@Indigogirl88 that's very exciting news! Congratulations

I think I'm going to book two weeks off at the end of September and drop down to 4 days a week from end of July, so not far off really!

Indigogirl88 · 17/04/2020 12:19

I know I swear time is going fast so i probably should tell work sooner rather than later so I can plan if I want to go down to 4 days if they let me

roarfeckingroar · 17/04/2020 12:31

@Indigogirl88 that's exciting! My partner proposed a few weeks ago and we had thought about a big summer party shotgun wedding before the baby but now COVID has cancelled everything I reckon we will aim for next October.

Quiffy · 17/04/2020 12:36

@Indigogirl88 @roarfeckingroar congratulations to you both! That's super exciting

Treacle81 · 17/04/2020 13:32

Congrats @roarfeckingroar and @Indigogirl88 - that’s smashing news 🍾🥂🥳

LexiM · 17/04/2020 14:25

Congratulations @Indigogirl88 and @roarfeckingroar - I love a wedding, so exciting!

I am really hoping we will be able to go and look at prams but I have a feeling from other posts you often have to order them and they can take a few weeks to come, so I have no idea the latest date to get one. I think I will get a pram as although I’m interested in using a sling I won’t want to all the time.

I have no idea on what I am doing about maternity leave or holidays this year. Currently on furlough and my main job is organising an event which takes place early September, if it goes ahead I will be really busy but need to be conscious of the fact I’m going to be tired too. I would probably work until nearly due date with a couple of days off each week after the event just to finish everything off before I go off. Equally if it doesn’t go ahead I have no idea in terms of what my role will be like and can possibly take holiday/leave earlier. I don’t want to finish so early that i’m waiting around at home bored. When I read online everyone seems to go on maternity quite early, if baby is then late it could be like a month off. People with children already - what’s your thoughts on this? Or are you so tired you need to stop working? I have no clue!! Aside from the event my job is office based.

I’m going to have a lot of holiday to take as I’ve only taken a couple of days this year and whilst in lockdown it’s pointless!

babymama09 · 17/04/2020 14:25

Hi @brittowers, and all the ladies on here not long got back from my scan 😁😁soooo made up. Baby is absolutely fine I am currently 13 weeks and 2 days so a day out of predicted due date but I never go full term. Have to go back next week to talk to my consultant as they had me down as not being seen until I hit 16 weeks and Jo scan until 20 weeks. Instead I am now being seen on Tuesday next week and will have new scan arranged 🙏🙏🙏☝️☝️☝️☝️ how did all your scans go if you had one today? Thank you to all who wished me well.

BntTowers · 17/04/2020 16:02

@babymama09 glad to hear it all went well and you've got your next scans and appointments sorted.

SkyBlue20 · 17/04/2020 17:43

Congratulations @Indigogirl88 and @roarfeckingroar, such fab news! 💕🎉

Spark27 · 17/04/2020 18:12

Great news @babymama09. Really pleased to hear everything went well.

Congratulations @Indigogirl88 and @roarfeckingroar. Really exciting news, and great to have some more good news at this time.

Spark27 · 17/04/2020 18:18

@LexiM, I'm the same with holiday and maternity leave, I have no idea what to do. I only work 3 days a week, but end up with so much leave as it's actually difficult to take it. I dont want to use leave for nothing in case DD is ill and sent home from nursery and I need it. And I dont want to plan family stuff cos every day I take DD out of nursery is £54 wasted. And as I dont work monday or fridays I get a long weekend anyway. And I enjoy the adult company. Poor me, too much leave. Lol.
And with being home now for 12 weeks on SPL I have no need to use any leave.

I will probably plan to take the 2 weeks off before my due date as it will be nice to have a few days to chill while DD is at nursery. If I feel too tired/big before then I'll add extra leave.

And then I might come back from maternity leave with about 14 weeks worth built up.
