@bnttowers I haven't heard on mine at all, at least I can ask the midwife next week. Definitely take lots of breaks, they are well needed. Even going for a pee is really tiring atm!

BntTowers · 15/04/2020 09:11

@Buzz22 I'm exactly the same with the dizziness only half cooked tea last night and needed to get DH to finish it.

@Quiffy I'm sure it will all ease up soon, then the 3rd trimester will hit us all!

Aquablue1123 · 15/04/2020 10:08

@Quiffy I feel a lot better today actually, I was sick but I'm more alert thankfully. Still zero motivation to work though haha.

I've been getting little twinges in my stomach so not sure if they are kicks or just growing pains. I can't wait to go to my next scan for peace of mind.

X

Zaalfruit · 15/04/2020 10:11

Good morning 🙂

When do we officially have to tell our work about our pregnancy?

I can’t find anything on my work portal and I don’t want to ask anyone yet either . I’m still not convinced I will have a baby until I can see a bump and feel the baby .

@Buzz22 I’m half tour trust is so good with appointments mines is pants - they are so confused and it’s hard to get through to anyone .

Does anyone know what they are thinking hey are having - my guesses is I’m having a girl - my husbands is a boy ! My scan pic wasn’t clear enough for a nub tech to give a guess at 12 weeks 🤣😂 but my gut is saying girl 👧🏽

CouscousEvaporator · 15/04/2020 10:30

Welcome @roarfeckingroar! That’s a big jump in dates! Bet you were surprised at the scan haha

@BntTowers definitely take lots of breaks. I feel very guilty to the point I think I may go back into work as there’s just not enough to keep me working full time at home ☹️

I’m getting round ligament pain occasionally but I am sure I feel flutters. Only at night when I’m very still and concentrating!

@zaalfruit I think I’m having a boy! I craved potatoes and tomatoes and the scan looks like a boy 😆
You have to tell work 15 weeks before your due date! I told work at 6 weeks feels like a lifetime ago 🙈

BntTowers · 15/04/2020 10:45

I've sent loads of work off to other people today so it looks like I've been really productive, but actually not had to do much. I've just been having a break and looking through eBay for a few bits.
@CouscousEvaporator only go in of you feel it's safe to do so.

I think I'm still a couple of weeks off feeling flutters, I'm cynical in that it's just gas or something like that. I definitely get a lot of stretching and tugging feelings, it feels like it's growing constantly.
I have a feeling we are having a boy, not sure why but as I've said that DH keeps calling it him.

@Zaalfruit I agree and this it's at least 15weeks before your due date so you have a while left yet if you want to wait. I told them at 9 weeks just to give them time to get cover staff as I'm the only one that does my job and the lockdown stuff was all starting.
DH told his boss last week, but hasn't told his team yet. There's a slight situation as one members of his team has told him she is pregnant and high risk so he has been keeping her pregnancy quiet as she isn't ready to tell anyone else yet, but he also wants to tell the rest of his team our news. I've said to just have a quiet word with her to say, that we are pregnant and he wants to tell the team, but obviously won't say anything about her pregnancy. Just to give her a few days notice rather than just launching it on her and possibly outing her pregnancy as well when she isn't ready.

Glitterbug86 · 15/04/2020 11:50

Hi ladies. Haven't posted in a while but have been reading all your posts (and learning a few things!). I'm still feeling good, never did have morning sickness/tiredness etc - I should count myself lucky to get off with just sore boobs by the sounds of it! Oh, I also had a couple of light nosebleeds lately - I saw some of you mention this - apparently it's normal around now.

I think we're having a girl. My husband thinks boy. I'd love a girl (I feel kinda bad admitting preference but obv I would also be happy if it's a boy too, main thing is it's healthy!). Nub looks like a girl to me, will be interesting to see!

I still haven't told work - I'd planned to wait until about 16 weeks if I wasn't showing too much (now at 15 weeks and not really showing at all) but since it looks like I'll be working from home for the foreseeable, so no one will see me, I think I might wait until 20 week scan now.

To the non first timers, what do the first kicks feel like? And when did you first feel them? So excited for this, although the dr at my private scan did say it looks like my placenta will be front facing so i might not feel them until a bit later as it creates another layer/buffer

Glitterbug86 · 15/04/2020 11:58

@BntTowers that sounds like a good plan for your husband, and nice that ye are being sensitive to the other girl

@zaalfruit do you have your scan pic to hand? To take an uneducated guess just for fun! 😀

@roarfeckingroar welcome. That must've been a nice surprise to jump ahead a couple of weeks, esp as the weeks seem to go so slowly in the first trimester

Glitterbug86 · 15/04/2020 12:07

@skyblue20 just wanted to say hi, have been thinking of you. I think you would've had your follow up app last week? Hope you are doing ok x

Buzz22 · 15/04/2020 14:09

@Zaalfruit nub techs told me girl. I have no idea how they could see anything from the scan to be honest! I'm secretly hoping for boy, but I think that is because the baby we lost was a boy.
Obviously we will be very happy just to actually take home a baby this time.

Only issue is names. We have 3 boys names we love. Girls names we cannot agree on! I know there's lot of old wives tales about sickness and shape of bump and what you're craving that points to boy or girl. If that's the case then my pregnancy is going the same as last time so I'd say boy! Although nuns tech guess is saying me towards the idea of a girl!

Anyone got names already decided? Do people like traditional or more unusual names?

Buzz22 · 15/04/2020 14:15

@Glitterbug86 I was wondering the same. Although I made it to 22 weeks last time, due to the lack of fluid I never got to feel baby move.
I've been having a few funny feelings low down but not sure if its baby flutterings or just general stretching or gas!
My friend said the first movement she felt was was like a sort of blob moving from bottom to top of stomach. She said like how she'd imagine a lava lamp to feel like! I certainly haven't felt like a lava lamp inside!

Glitterbug86 · 15/04/2020 14:25

@Buzz22 ha that's a really interesting comparison, a lava lamp! I think I can imagine what that would feel like!
I guess when you do feel your first flutters (if you haven't already!) it will be all the more special.

We have a few names we've mentioned but we're not really agreeing on any haha. I think after the 20 week scan when we hopefully know the sex, we'll think more about names then. And I'm sure we'll agree on something! I think we'll be somewhere in the middle though - I can't see us going for anything too unusual or too traditional. What about you?

LexiM · 15/04/2020 14:25

@Zaalfruit I think boy for us and husband thinks girls. Have no idea why really, my guess isn’t based on anything at all!

@buzz22 We haven’t properly discussed names, I keep asking my husband to not discuss names with his family as don’t want the influence! We probably won’t seriously discuss it until we find out the sex. I feel we are more likely to agree on a boys name from discussion and girls will be harder as more options/less we both like. It’s such a big job choosing a name! I always think I like more unusual names but you can never tell as a name you think is more unique becomes popular that year.

I have had ligament/stretching pain but can’t wait to get some flutters.

I told my work at 10 weeks but I understand we have to write and confirm maternity leave start/length - is that correct and do you do this at the same time as confirming it in writing? I have no idea and will be first to go on maternity at my work so need to make sure as they won’t know either and will have to read up on it! I’m on furlough full pay at the moment but think it might go to 80% next month if we are still on lockdown same as now, which is annoying for maternity pay calculations. I will still be grateful to just have a job though and saving money being home anyway with no petrol etc. I think if I had been going into work these past few weeks I would have been useless as my energy was so low.

bluemoon2468 · 15/04/2020 14:36

@Zaalfruit it's 15 weeks before you want to go on maternity leave (not your due date necessarily). For me it would be at 23 weeks. But if you want maternity rights e.g. paid leave for appts then you need to tell them before the appts.

Spark27 · 15/04/2020 16:35

We sent off to nub tech and they said 85% chance of girl. The scan looked like a girl to me too. We'd ideally like a girl as we have loads of girls stuff and then DD can play with her, but again we just want a healthy baby.

We have a few girls names picked out, and a definite for the middle name. Once you have one it narrows your choices as you want ones that go together, but aren't too similar. If it's a boy that will be tricky as we couldn't really choose any boys ones. We like traditional, long names that can be shortened, so you/they have different name choices.

You need to let your company know your pregnant 15w before due date and usually (in big companies) fill in a form indicating your maternity leave preferences (although these can change of you want), and you have to send off the original MATB form with it. This is a form your mw gives you around the 20w pregnant mark. Given the situation at the moment these might be posted out to us. If you have access to review your companies maternity policy I would and then make a note to ask your mw about the MATB form as a long delay to these could cause issues with maternity being registered and pay. I think the MATB is also used for SMP. Fortunately we have lead up time to get this sorted.

Last time I thought initial movements felt like butterfly flutterings. I also had some popping feelings. This time round I'm not sure if I've felt anything yet. Not sure if I'm expecting it to be too early as it's my 2nd

Spark27 · 15/04/2020 16:39

Sorry to double post but didn't want it to be massive!

Had a call from my mw this afternoon. She confirmed the time for my appt tomorrow and then said they clinically didn't have to do 16w ones face-to-face so asked me if I wanted to or not. Obvs I do as I want to hear the hb, and she said this was fine and she completely understands. She said I need to come on my own but we could record hb. She also confirmed that the surgery I'm going to is now only doing mw/antenatal stuff to limit exposure, and that she'd be fully owned and masked up.

Found it reassuring to hear, and so happy they are still doing them
I know I'm so lucky. Definitely feeling in need of some reassurance that hopefully hearing the hb will bring.

SkyBlue20 · 15/04/2020 17:26

Hi all! I have been keeping up and am so glad you’re all doing well ☺️

Thanks for remembering, @Glitterbug86 - I did have my appointment last week and they confirmed everything there but also said that my body had reabsorbed the baby, which I actually found quite nice - it’s quite calming that I don’t have to pass it and also that it feels like it’ll be forever with me now. They then sent me away for another week to see if anything happens naturally (this is due to CV19, not normal protocol) and I have to go back tomorrow morning. As expected, nothing has happened this week so it’s looking like I’ll need medical or surgical management. I’m hoping for surgical but expecting that I’ll only be allowed medical (again, CV19 meaning they don’t want people in the hospital any more than they have to be). Physically, I feel back to normal and just last week I started allowing myself to eat and drink as normal and exercise as normal, so slowly getting back to pre-pregnancy routines. It’s all just dragging on a lot now so just want it all over so I can start to move on. Time is a healer though and I am much better than I was three weeks ago, though still have my sad days.
Husband and I have decided we want to try again straight away so as soon as all is sorted and I’ve had a period, I’ll be right back on the TTC board and then hopefully back on the pregnancy one not too long after 🤞🏼 Not looking forward to another pregnancy though (if we’re that lucky) - it’s going to be extra stressful now, I’m sure.

Sorry, essay!

Like I say, really really glad to hear how well you are all doing but sorry to hear about the nausea and nose bleeds, etc! Hopefully it’ll all go away soon and that elusive glow will take its place. Xxx

roarfeckingroar · 15/04/2020 18:31

Thanks @Quiffy @Buzz22 @CouscousEvaporator @Glitterbug86 it was quite a surprise - private scan put me two weeks ahead of when I thought and 12 week put me forward by another two!
when are you due?

I'm WFH and managing to fit in a nap most afternoons and still get it all done. I find my hips ache a bit after a long walk which feels strange because I'm usually very active.

BntTowers · 15/04/2020 18:38

@SkyBlue20 it's so good to hear from you. I'm glad you are feeling better in yourself and that you'll always have your little one with you in some way. I hope tomorrow goes smoothly for you.

Spark27 · 15/04/2020 19:04

Thanks for the message @Skyblue20. Sorry to hear all the Covid stuff is messing you around, but you sound like you're in a good place (hope that doesn't come across as patronising, cant think how else to write it). Sending love for tomorrow. Flowers

That must have been a surprise @roarfeckingroar. My last pregnancy I got put back a week at the first scan and that felt like the longest week ever. The 1st tri must have sped a bit for you.

NWnature · 15/04/2020 19:16

@SkyBlue20 lovely to hear from you. I hope tomorrow goes smoothly.

Glitterbug86 · 15/04/2020 19:43

@SkyBlue20 so glad to hear you're doing well. That is nice to think that it will always be with you now ❤️

Good luck for tomorrow and sorry covid is affecting your care/options. It does sound very dragged out unfortunately, but sounds like you're handling it as well as could be, and great that you're starting to look to the future. Brighter days ahead for sure xx

SkyBlue20 · 15/04/2020 20:03

Thanks all 💕

roarfeckingroar · 15/04/2020 21:22

@Spark27 it has a bit! It still seems to be long though, i can't believe I have to wait another six weeks for the next scan

MrsD1990 · 15/04/2020 21:23

@SkyBlue20 so good to hear from you, I'd Ben thinking about you too. You sound like your doing better, glad you're staying to do some of your pre-pregnancy routine. Sending you lots of love xx
