@NWnature I don't think there's much for us to do apart from our hospital appointments in the second trimester. I've already been asked by friends about my birth plan though which I think I'll start looking into eventually... My nausea touch wood has not been as bad today or yesterday so I'm hoping this is a turning point. If it is I can start putting some energy into researching birth/things to get the baby. I haven't had the energy before this, was just trying to make it through the days!!

I'm absolutely loving this weather. Been sitting outside in the garden enjoying the sun 😎 husband also managed to get a super market shop for Sunday (we were seriously running low on food - especially fresh food!) So feeling very lucky now in these circumstances.

Struggling to sleep through the night like everyone else! Don't know what to do, it's really hit and miss whether I go back to sleep easily or not after I have my middle of the night wee!

Spark27 · 10/04/2020 13:20

@couscousevaporator, we bought a Close Caboo sling/wrap thing and I hated it. Never used it. Sold it on, unused. It was so fiddly to set up, there was no way i could do it on my own, and baby did not seem safe in it. DH and I tried to use it once and was such a faff even with 2 of us, and DD didn't feel secure. I'm sure some love it, but it was not for us (it was one of the few items I let DH pick.....) I'm tempted by a more structured carrier this time, where you just slot them in. Might be easier with having baby and toddler. But if I do I'll get one 2nd hand, and wait to see how much of a chunk the next one is!

CouscousEvaporator · 10/04/2020 13:25

@LexiM I much prefer the under the bump even though I didn’t think I would! They will feel low if you’re used to high waisted jeans but I find them super comfy. And long enough for a change!

@zaalfruit a sling is like a baby carrier made from one piece of material, so you can carry baby and be hands free. I like the idea but have no idea yet how to wrap haha

CouscousEvaporator · 10/04/2020 13:27

Ooh thanks @Spark27 I have been looking into structured ones as well and DH much prefers those...

Quiffy · 10/04/2020 13:34

@couscousevaporator thank you! I'm hoping the sickness eases off soon. Great job on trying some shed lifting. I have a box sitting to start sorting my wardrobe but still not moved 😹

@Zaalfruit I'm with you. I know breast is best but I don't want to do it exclusively. I'm thinking combi to start and see where it goes.

@Aquablue1123 that's super exciting on your sister!

@BntTowers great scan photo!!

@Applesandlemons great news on your scan

Got my blood results in post today - low risk so super pleased

Quiffy · 10/04/2020 13:35

My friend loved her sling. I think you get libraries with them? I'm sure I get one in my baby box

BntTowers · 10/04/2020 18:43

We are thinking about getting a sling or carrier, going to wait until the shops are open to hopefully try some out (not sure where yet though...)

Today has been productive, we've measured the room so we know some of the furniture we want will definitely fit! DH has ordered a blind for the velux window and I've ordered some safari themed wall stickers too. Just need to think of curtains and have a look into cots and I think we will know what we want then room wise.

I've got some Jean type things, they aren't demon, much lighter in weight and have a ribbed waistband. They aren't advertised as maternity trousers but they are super comfortable and I think will allow for a lot of growth!

LostinAusten2 · 10/04/2020 20:49

@kateriina and @Applesandlemons and @bnttowers - congrats on your scans 😊

Had mine today - so so relieved - little heart beating and so far looking low risk, but will see what blood test comes back with 🤞

Due date 13th October - 6 months to go 🥳

And thanks for all the advice on buying things, first time mum so totally clueless!

Zaalfruit · 10/04/2020 20:50

My sister in law told me today she will give her sling to me - she personally said she didn’t enjoy the sling and preferred a wrap . I watched a wrap you tube video and there are a lot of step to master . I think a sling is better for me .

I picked some wardrobes today as-well but just want to see the stores before I order anything . I miss going window shopping so much !!

Due to lack of space - we have decided to dedicate one wall to baby where the cot will lean against and this will have decal against it - totally ruins our theme in our bedroom - but all worth it !!

Safari theme wall stickers sound so cute - I wish I was way more adventurous- my confidence in home decor isn’t the best. Been looking on Pinterest excessively for Lots of ideas 💡

Quiffy · 11/04/2020 08:24

@LostinAusten2 yay on your scan!

@Zaalfruit the one wall sounds like a great idea

How’s everyone today?

I sorted out my wardrobe and drawers yesterday putting everything I’m just not going to fit in this year into our big suitcases (not going to need them any time soon). Overdid it though, ended up being too tired and sick so sent to bed at 7pm 🤮😩 total day off today

bluemoon2468 · 11/04/2020 08:40

I shared a baked camembert with my husband last night, and even though the NHS website says baked soft cheese is fine, I can't help feeling so anxious about it today 😔 Wasn't worth the worry! Even though I know realistically that listeria outbreaks can come from anywhere and there's very little evidence that cheese is any worse than salad or shop bought sandwiches 😕

Quiffy · 11/04/2020 09:04

@bluemoon2468 it will be absolutely fine but like you say, if you feel worried today it's not worth it for your own sanity. You can enjoy it all at Christmas instead :)

Spark27 · 11/04/2020 09:25

OMG, I'm thinking of baked camembert now, yum. It is completely fine as cooking it kills the issue, but if you're worried it's not worth it. If anything doesn't sit well with you and leaves you worried then it's not worth the hassle, esp as theres not that long to wait.

I've had a busy morning. Got up early with DD (DH is still asleep), did the breakfast, last nights washing up, a huge pile of ironing, tidying etc. Feeling very pleased that when DH finally wakes up I can be all smug about it. And I've done all the cooking for the last week+ so hes on dinner duty tonight. Feeling so smug with myself today.

Planning a very lazy day, enjoying the garden and the sun. Trying to take my mind of the worry that seems to have hit me the last few days, wondering if everything is ok. Wait from 12w to 20w is soooooo long, esp with our private scan (should have been next week) cancelled. Cant wait to feel so definite movement and get some level of reassurance. xx

LexiM · 11/04/2020 10:14

Ah I feel so disorganised compared to you all!

@Quiffy hope you are feeling better, that’s the problem I have when I do jobs, I am happy I’ve done it then I feel awful later to the point where I wished I hadn’t done it! I keep trying to remind myself to not feel bad and go with what my body can cope with. @Spark27 sounds like you’ve had a really productive day and deserve enjoying the sunshine. I would feel smug too 😄

@bluemoon2468 I am sure the Camembert was fine although I had one the other week cooked with my husband and felt awful later, probably not related at all but it’s put me off it.

I don’t want to shout too loud but I’ve definitely noticed an improvement in how I feel overall the last couple of days, feeling less sick and I’m just hoping it’s to stay!

Treacle81 · 11/04/2020 10:41

Morning girls! I’ve woke this morning without feeling sick and I’m still in shock lol! Maybe I’ve turned a corner!!! Bloody hope so. Online4baby got Easter deals so might purchase the Chicco next to me crib. xx

Congrats on scans yesterday. I am also due 13th of October. What is the 1st thing you have purchased for your baby after the scan? I purchased a little baby grow for my husband saying daddys new golf partner. I thought I'd be over enjoyed and buying everything in sight but it felt very strange like is it too soon

Mum2Bump · 11/04/2020 11:29

Hi ladies,

A bit late to join the party, but I can remember some of you from the previous chats before we all conceived!

Had my scan 2 weeks ago (at 11w+5d), now soon will be 14 weeks.

Can't wait to start feeling that little bean, just to know it's active and growing well...

MrsD1990 · 11/04/2020 14:08

@lexim don't worry, I've not started sorted things yet, we have time! Depending on the situation with everything going on we might be moving house in the next few months so want to have moved before I buy lots. Need to buy some maternity clothes though - I weirdly haven't gained weight but my body has changed shape so I have a little bump.

@mum2bump lovely scan photos! Can't wait to start feeling little bean moving around. Not long now I'm told!!

Zaalfruit · 11/04/2020 14:32

I love seeing all the scan photos xx so cute !!!

I did something really naughty today I had a fizzy drink I just really needed the sugar! It’s the first time !

@Luce123456 that’s sounds like the perfect starter gift !! I have lots of stuff to buy but still not managed it . I just want to be able to see a bump 🤩

LexiM · 11/04/2020 15:01

@Mum2Bump welcome to the group! Lovely scan photos 😄

@MrsD1990 I’m glad we’ve still got plenty of time. I’m the same, I’ve actually lost weight but definitely got a little teeny bump which grows as the day goes on!
Annoyingly I hurt my back this morning moving my guinea pigs run, i don’t really understand why and it’s not even heavy! It has ruined my plans a bit but I have managed to sort my winter clothes out and get out summer clothes I will fit. Half have remained under the bed! It’s nice to be able to wear a sun dress.

@Luce123456 sounds fun to buy something even if small. I keep looking at things but haven’t taken the plunge yet... not even sure why. I guess subconsciously I must be waiting for the 20 week scan. There’s so many Easter discounts tempting me.

@zaalfruit if you’ve waited his long for fizzy drink I think you’re doing quite well!

BntTowers · 11/04/2020 15:05

We went for a long walk today, about 4 miles, the most I've gone in a fair while. Paying for it a bit now with back ache and twinges. DH is saying I'm definitely starting to get a bit of a bump, I'm still just feeling podgy. Since we've been back I've been taking full advantage of the sun and been sat out getting some vitamin D. I don't think I'll be doing much else today!

MrsD1990 · 11/04/2020 18:02

@lexim snap mine grows as the day goes on too! Sorry you hurt your back, hope it goes back to normal once you've had a sleep!

@zaalfruit I drink a diet Coke every single day! I gave it up along with coffee in preparation for trying for a baby but after about 5 weeks pregnant the fatigue was too much, I needed some caffeine! But I can't stomach coffee with my current nausea so I have one weak green tea in the morning and a diet Coke at lunch time, so you've done very well not to have any fizzy drinks until now!

Indigogirl88 · 11/04/2020 18:37

@Quiffy me too for over doing it yesterday but on the plus side I got a good sleep.

I'm having a weird kind of day today, nothing fits me from my summer wardrobe and I'm feeling really self conscious about just looking fat at the minute and not pregnant. I lost a lot of weight last year so I know that's why. But oh wel little bean is my priority Smile

Is anyone suffering with acne? I've never had bad spots before not even in teen years. Has anyone got any tips?

Ps I'm looking at slings as well!

Spark27 · 11/04/2020 19:07

@Indigogirl88 I had really bad skin in the 1st tri and was getting really down about it. I got sent Centraben Daily Cleansing Cream in my Glossybox and it seems to have cleared up. Not sure if it was that, or moving into tri 2, but I'm happy at the mo x

CouscousEvaporator · 12/04/2020 08:34

@Zaalfruit I drink fizzy drinks if they are flat! It helped my nausea massively 1st trimester, I didn’t know we shouldn’t??

@Indigogirl88 I have been suffering with bad skin but at 15 weeks it seemed to clear up!! I’m not usually a spotty person so it was so annoying.
Have you found any good slings?

I’m also finding my hair is less greasy as well as my skin! Is this the glow??! Lol

About buying things early... I have the same thoughts about telling people early... I read something that said “joy is now” and that you should celebrate for now as you have no control over the future. I do a lot of mindfulness, being present in the moment (I’m not a hippy!) and it resonated with me so that’s how I’ve decided I’m going through this pregnancy! Currently all is well and I’m celebrating that!

Happy Easter all, hope you eat lots of eggs 🐰
