Yaay what's your due date @BntTowers ?

I'm feeling sick again this afternoon for some reason, I'm blaming it on not being able to get out much Sad

@otterbaby yep I'm in leggings constantly!

NWnature · 09/04/2020 19:36

Ah congrats @BntTowers how lovely!

I have no clue re prams. Hope stuff calms down eventually so we can try some out in John Lewis.

BntTowers · 09/04/2020 19:39

@indigogirl88 due date is now 15th October.

@applesandlemons our immediate family know already, but it's so good to share the news! I did the same and drank too much water, she said to go and empty it and luckily could still do the scan.

LexiM · 09/04/2020 19:48

@bntTowers glad your scan went well and they got the measurements in the end! I’m 14th October, so near your date. Glad I’m not the only one due middle of October 😄

@Indigogirl88 sorry you are feeling sick again, hope it passes soon for you. I don’t like to say when I feel better as usually the next day I’m feeling sick again!!

@Applesandlemons glad your scan went well too, I am all about the sweet things too! I haven’t had much of an appetite previously now I want fruit and sweets. Hoping it will go away soon and I will be addicted to salad haha!

Applesandlemons · 09/04/2020 19:56

@Indigogirl88 They gave me a due date of 22 October. How about you?

@BntTowers Transvaginal is not what I was expecting but happy to do it as I was so desperate for a wee it was relief to not have her pressing on my bladder!

@LexiM It’s strange isn’t it suddenly getting a sweet tooth. Everyone keeps telling me it’s a sign it’s a girl!

BntTowers · 09/04/2020 20:54

@Applesandlemons you'll get a "normal" scan next time, I was thinking I might have to get the transvaginal one again. I did when I had early bleeding because I have a tilted uterus. I'm glad you had your scan and everything is ok. I'm feeling a bit tender tonight now, she needed to do a lot of digging to get baby to move to the right position.

MrsD1990 · 09/04/2020 22:06

Yay good to hear everyone's scans are going well! ♥️♥️

And thank you all for the pram tips. I'm going to be a first time mum so any tips on what we can buy second hand or what isn't needed (or very necessary that we might not have thought of) is helpful!!!

I'm still sort of taking pregnancy as every day comes so not done a huge amount of research yet - so very grateful for tips!

NWnature · 09/04/2020 22:50

@mrsd1990 I am the absolute same. Haven’t really done any research and very much just winging it.
What are the major things to do in second trimester?

I’m already struggling to get comfy sleeping which is worrying. The pillow is good but I’m still not sleeping all the way through like I usually go and it’s very disrupted with loads of weird dreams.

Considering downloading the positive birth programme but it’s probably a bit early!

Zaalfruit · 10/04/2020 05:38

@BntTowers super cute pic xx

I have randomly developed a cough - but I know it’s a hay fever itchy cough -called the doctors yesterday about hay fever medicine and he said no studies about hay fever medicine for pregnant women so to try and avoid taking anything. The only study done is on rats and he doesn’t feel comfortable about it.

This weekend feels like it will be extremely boring - I miss my parents and siblings . My siblings are young and still live at home they are doing a bbq over the weekend.

Constantly having weird dreams - dreamt today I was flying a dinosaur in a Simpson style world 🤪

Loving all ideas for baby stuff, as I can’t sleep I’m looking at baby stuff - the Tommi tippie formula maker thingyi I know breast is best so looking at pumps aswell. Just not convinced about breastfeeding looks a bit over whelming. Will do lots of reading up!

Smile
BntTowers · 10/04/2020 07:04

@NWnature I've just started following their Instagram and it looks interesting. I think I'm going to look into it a little more then get it sorted. Just to make sure it's right for me.

@Zaalfruit I'm missing family a bit this weekend too, we normally go to my mum's for Easter for a big meal and go with his family for a nice walk somewhere. Although if it's nice we can sit out in the garden and I'm going to get DH to go to the shops to get something nice to have on Sunday. I'm the same with hayfever, I get it terribly and I'm not looking forward to it hitting full force soon. Just have to do the preventative things like massive sunglasses and vaseline under the nose. Although I'm not convinced how much those work tbh.

Aquablue1123 · 10/04/2020 07:06

hey girls,

I think it's time to invest in a pregnancy pillow in the hope I will get a good nights sleep, shattered today. I was awake again at 2am for a few hours.

Other news, I told my family about the pregnancy last night and found out my sister is too :-) she doesn't know her exact dates as she's struggling to get an app but she thinks there is about two weeks between us. So my mum is pleased haha xxx

Aquablue1123 · 10/04/2020 07:06

Any recommendations for pregnancy pillows?

LexiM · 10/04/2020 07:18

@NWnature I’ve got the positive birth company download, I haven’t really started it but they had an offer for £12 so got it then as it was a lot cheaper. I think even if I can take some breathing techniques and learning how birth works etc. from it then it will be useful.

@Zaalfruit sorry about your hayfever. It’s frustrating there is so much you can’t take when pregnant and usually just because they don’t know enough but equally I understand most pregnant women aren’t going to put themselves forward for testing!

I’m with you on the weekend feelings, we usually go to my Mums for Easter and I love being there, she has a farm with lots of baby animals around Easter so it’s perfect. My brother and Grandma also live with her so they’ve got each other. I’m just trying to forget it’s Easter weekend and continue like most days as I find that mentally easier to cope with.

I have also been having the weirdest dreams, such a variety too from horrible ones to just very weird and unreal! My husband rolls his eyes most mornings when I tell him how I spoke to a penguin or got my foot stuck in a sea lions mouth!! 🤣

@Aquablue1123 how exciting about your sister too. It’s really nice to have a “real life” person going through this too to share bits with.

Typically today when my husband doesn’t have to wake up early for work I’m wide awake. On work days I always feel bad because I’m fast asleep long after he’s up and in the study working! Our cat is being really annoying and vocal at the moment and demanded early morning cuddles. I do wonder how much they know what’s going on - he was all over me when first pregnant then for about a month not bother and now again he wants to sit on me all the time when he’s always preferred my husband.

Spark27 · 10/04/2020 07:33

@Zaalfruit it's good to look into all the options when it comes to feeding, but know that everything might change at the time. I wanted to breast feed, at least for a few months, but DD went into SCBU and we never managed to get the latch (not that the staff weren't great in helping me). In the end I wanted to get feeding established and get out of there so ended up expressing and bottle feeding with that. It was good as it meant DH could do feeds in the night as well, and we knew exactly how much she'd had. Some times when you feed from the breast it can he a struggle as you have no idea how much they actually consume. Problem with expressing is that it can be time consuming, but it worked for us for about 3 months. You can always store expressed milk for a while in the fridge, and then freeze, etc. Its all personal choice and what works for you all. I would like to bf for the first few months this time, but we'll see what happens.

@Aquablue1123, I got a massive U shaped pillow. Cost about £30-40, but I used it last time and using it again now. So comfy and handy for keeping you propped to one side.

We were supposed to be going to the in laws for Easter. I'm not too fussed about missing that, but it's sad for DD to not get to see them. And just found out F-in law has been diagnosed with Parkinson's so would have been nice to get more info on that. They dont really share much on the phone.

Indigogirl88 · 10/04/2020 07:48

@Applesandlemons 6th October Smile

@NWnature I'm struggling sleeping as well but I had the window open last night which helped a lot

@Zaalfruit same re the hayfever it's doing my head in and I dont usually suffer this bad! I'm also having super weird dreams!

Wonderful news @Aquablue1123 ! My best friend just got pregnant through IVF and I'm so made over for her (I really appreciate the struggle she must have gone through) it's so exciting to share this time with someone close. I haven't got my pillow yet as delay in the delivery but I went for the wedge and round pillow pack on online4baby as I think I'll be too hot with the huge ones! Dh is like a radiator

Im the same with not seeing family this weekend so I'm going to attempt to make a cake to cheer me up, which will clearly fail as I am no way near as good as these Instagram mummies 😂

Indigogirl88 · 10/04/2020 07:51

@NWnature I just noticed the positive birth company have a bunch of youtube videos so that's me done for the day Grin

Luce123456 · 10/04/2020 08:05

Morning all a folic acid question. I have been taking folic acid 5mg. I read I should take this until 12 weeks. Currently 13 with 2 weeks worth left to take. I'm going to finish the packet. Is anyone going to take folic acid beyond this or just get it from veg and pregnancy vitamins. I've read some people take it all the way through.

BntTowers · 10/04/2020 09:18

@Luce123456 I got a folic acid prescription of the higher dose recently and they gave me 3 months worth so I'm guessing it's good to continue taking.

@Indigogirl88 I'll have to look on YouTube for those videos this weekend.

Spark27 · 10/04/2020 09:32

@Luce123456 I think it's up to you really. The NHS says you should take up to 12w, but I'm pretty sure my mw said you could take them throughout the pregnancy if you want. You might as well finish what you have, and then up to you if you want to get more.

Buzz22 · 10/04/2020 09:53

@LexiM I'm 5'10 so if you you find any good maternity leggings/jeans that are long enough let me know!

Seem to have a bit more of a tummy but am able to fit in my usual clothes still. Not sure how long it takes to need maternity clothes? Feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed with pregnancy stuff to be honest. I made it to 22 weeks last time and didn't need maternity clothes but unsure if it was to do with lack of amniotic fluid.
Pram talk is helpful thanks ladies. Feel like I would be totally out of my depth with these things. Also feel like I dont want to do any baby shopping till I know theres a baby coming home this time.

@Aquablue1123 my friend recommended this pillow. I'm going to order it next week

www.pharmedoc.co.uk/products/u-shape-pregnancy-pillow-stars

@Applesandlemons my 12 week scan was hard work for the sonographer too due to retroverted uterus! Didn't get the best photos but she managed to get the measurements she needed.

Anyone else having to have cervical length scans?
I had my first yesterday with fetal medicine consultant. Good news is cervix is long for now and theres enough fluid around baby.
I have to go back for another in 5 weeks for next one. About a week before my 20 week scan. She did a tummy scan first before the transvaginal one, just so I could see baby again which was nice!

CouscousEvaporator · 10/04/2020 12:01

@Buzz22 I’ve bought some under the bump jeans/thick jeggings from new look, which can be a 34 inch leg. I’m the same height as you and they fit so well and are super comfy! I do have an over bump pair but I’ve read in summer you don’t want extra layers...
What I am struggling with is tops that are long enough (as always) so if anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears!!

I’ve already bought a pram and maternity pillow 😳. What I would recommend is not a c shaped pillow if you flip a lot in your sleep, god it is a nightmare getting your legs untangled before you roll lol

I ditched it and sleep way better now 😂

I’m going to keep taking folic acid and vitamin d for as long as I remember, I’ve stopped pregnacare as my iron is high and it just constipated me. Sorry TMI but I’ve been in so much pain. It did help with my hypnobirthing breathing though 😂😂

CouscousEvaporator · 10/04/2020 12:13

Also just catching up since I last posted!
@Quiffy how are you feeling, I hope you get your normal self back very soon. Fingers crossed for 2 birthing partners, if only so you can entertain us with your birth story 😆
Your nursery colours sound lovely - I hadn’t even though of gold! Lovely 🥰

@Indigogirl88 your cous cous comment made me laugh 😆 hope you managed to do the garden in the sun

@Spark27 any advice greatly welcomed, there’s so much to think about! Did you use a sling? This is confusing me currently!

It’s so lovely to know I’m not alone feeling lonely. Glad we’ve all got this group. X

LexiM · 10/04/2020 12:53

@Buzz22 I will let you know! I currently wear higher waisted jeans so they are getting uncomfortable now, I either wear them pushed down or undo them later in the day! @couscousevaporator thanks for the recommendation, I shall take a look. I hadn’t even realised there was under the bump ones - do they feel super low? That being said I agree about the heat in the summer, I’m usually a cold person but feeling the warmth already!

I have stopped taking the folic acid after my midwife said to take until 12 weeks. Don’t think there’s negatives to continue it’s just the benefits to the baby are until then.

Zaalfruit · 10/04/2020 12:55

My nurse said take folic acid right to the end. I am quite bad I do forget to take it. I am not taking vitamin D anymore it ran out and the pharmacy has run out aswell and I don’t trust amazon for vitamins .

@Aquablue1123 soo nice that
Both of you pregnant together I wish I had pregnant buddy !!

What’s a sling - I’m so clueless to baby items - I have never even held a small baby before !! I hope antenatal class are running by the time we are in our third trimester I will
Need all the help I can get .

I did some heavy lifting in the shed today and now my back is killing me - leaving the rest to husband - It’s all his junk anyways😒

It’s so bad - I want to fast track to my 20 week scan I need to know there is a baby in there I don’t really have a bump - my belly’s always been untoned 🤪

kateriina · 10/04/2020 13:09

Hey girls,
I am 13 weeks and 2 days today. My scan went well on 1st of april. I had the abnormality blood tests and my PAPP-A was lower than it should be therefore was sent a letter to start taking aspirin. Anyone else with the same outcome I would love to hear from you Smile
