@Quiffy he's in for a shock if that traumatised him 😂
My DH had to hold up a light while I was being stitched up post episiotomy with my ds1 🙈 and help me clean up after I threw up all over myself with DS2 after labour.
It's a glamorous business having children 😂🙈

Still not feeling quite right here. Ribs sore on and off and I've worked myself up about it so I'm breathless.
On the plus side I'm 14 weeks today! Finally. Those 3 days they moved me back took forever to catch up 😂

otterbaby · 08/04/2020 09:28

I've had a letter through for my 20 week scan (which actually will be at 18 weeks)...and a 32 week scan and a 36 week scan 🤔 they take their time with everything but they're clearly very organised when it comes to scheduling in advance!

Spark27 · 08/04/2020 09:32

Haha, @Treaclepie19, my DH is in the same boat. He had to empty my catheter bag and change the pad I was lying on post birth (well, he didn't have too but staff were all busy taking DD SCBU so we didn't want to disturb them). Warn him @Quiffy that it could get a LOT worse.

I was feeling all smug yesterday after a few good nights sleep, then this morning I was awake from 0300 to 0600. Weird dreams, needing to wee and insomnia. Fortunately DH got up with DD and I then slept til 0900. But still feel awful. Like I've got a hangover. Annoying.

My bump is being annoying. I feel its huge in the day, but looking at it it just looks like a fat belly, and then when I lie down its completely gone. I'm in that awkward stage between scans where I need reassurance that all is ok. Shame I dont think I'll get to see the mw next week and hear the heartbeat.

Quiffy · 08/04/2020 09:46

@treaclepie19 @spark27 I'm warning him about nothing, I've only just convinced him to be there for the birth and he's easily scared. He's fine with everything bar blood, that's a big phobia and he faints. Which is pretty funny as he's 6ft5 and nobody believes him until he starts swaying. He's told me that he's not coming if it's a c-section. I'm not sure he knows about umbilical cords or placenta and I'm not telling him haha.

Apparently cats being sick is fine but I make weird noises??? Excuse me for not being a pretty boaker.

Happy 14 weeks @Treaclepie19!! The ribs sound awful though :(

@otterbaby I think I'm just concerned as I've had 37 week scan and appointment but not 20. My mum says it's likely because the consultant said she wouldn't see me until then and my 20 week and other growth scans would be midwife, who don't have a dedicated secretary booking everything in and sending out letters. Which makes a lot of sense! It's weird having those dates for later scans isnt it? I was like waaaaaah that's nearly time.

Quiffy · 08/04/2020 09:48

*I should say he knows there IS a cord, but I don't think he knows he's going to be offered to cut it. As as soon as any hospital ward appears on TV or films he zooms out the room.

CouscousEvaporator · 08/04/2020 10:38

Hey ladies!
Glad to hear things are going well for you all, minus the insomnia. I’ve got a bit of that too at the moment, but FINALLY I feel like normal me again!

Sorry to hear you’re still vomming @quiffy I really hope it sorts out soon. I hope your DH surprises you in the delivery room and doesn’t faint 😆
I would actually completely trust my DH to deliver my baby but I don’t want him looking so it’s not happening 😂

We’ve been getting the house baby ready, sorting storage etc. Just need the shops to reopen so I can get wallpaper and paint! Has anyone else started on the nursery or buying things? I’ve got my list ready for when the shops let people back in!

My 16w midwife appointment was booked at my 8wk appointment- I didn’t get a letter or anything, it’s just written in my notes. I also got my 20wk appointment through 2 days after my 12wk scan.

I can’t believe I’m almost 15 weeks. I’m in a weird limbo where I feel totally not pregnant but I’m getting a bit of a belly.

It does feel a bit lonely being pregnant during this craziness. No one from work has contacted me or anything (I know they’ve got a lot on). I am trying to reframe it in my head that I should enjoy the quiet but it still feels a million miles away from how I imagined back in January.

Quiffy · 08/04/2020 10:47

@couscousevaporator ahhh you give me hope that the 'normal' feeling will come soon, so happy for you

Zaalfruit · 08/04/2020 10:48

@Quiffy hope it eases up too !! Yep deffo not telling my husband anything or he will get freaked out .

@Couscousevaporator I feel super lonely too - I miss my siblings and I think my hormones are kicking in. I feel angry and upset and then I want to cry.

I’m not showing yet - I am putting on weight most likely from eating a lot of bread. I haven’t eaten any protein since February- the idea of it makes me gag.

Indigogirl88 · 08/04/2020 11:28

@CouscousEvaporator

I've got a belly due to bread must eat more couscous!

I'm just going to ring my midwife next week to chase things up.

Not started nesting yet because we are currently using said nursery as a make shift office 😂 damn my small 3 bed house!

I would however like to decorate this weekend and maybe do the garden...

Spark27 · 08/04/2020 11:31

@Quiffy, I would love to be a fly on the wall when you give birth. You have to tell us what your partner is like Grin They end up seeing so much.

@Couscousevaporator, I'm the same as you, pregnancy is feeling really weird this time round. Sometimes I forget I am, and seem to be just a bit fat. Then the tiredness/nausea/headaches kick in. Fortunately not really felt nauseous the last few days. Really annoyed as well that this should be my last pregnancy and I dont feel like I'm getting to enjoy it.

I've got most of the nursery/baby stuff from last time. If you want any honest opinions on what I found useful just let me know. But it's all personal choice.

Treaclepie19 · 08/04/2020 11:38

This is so strange. I was vegetarian before getting pregnant. Slowly over the weeks I've been eating meat now and then as I've really fancied it. This morning it's like a switch has been flipped and I'm repulsed thinking about it and planning some yummy recipes.
Am I out of the food aversion?! 🤞🤞

Quiffy · 08/04/2020 11:43

@Spark27 Honestly, I think it will be great entertainment. You should have seen his face when he found out it could be more than a few hours. "But what will I EAT???". He says he's been watching YouTube videos to prepare (goodness knows).

I would love to know your opinions on what's useful to get. FTM and clueless here.

@Zaalfruit how's your sickness been?

LexiM · 08/04/2020 12:01

@quiffy sorry you are still being sick. Your husband sounds like mine, if I so much wretch he tells me to go to the bathroom! We haven’t discussed cutting the cord etc. yet.

@Treaclepie19 sorry your ribs are still sore, I hope that eases soon.

I booked my 20 week appointment with the sonographer at the 12 week scan, it’s really odd how different everywhere is. I will be 20+5 when I have mine as she said she prefers to do it as near to 20-21 weeks as possible.

I’m still not massively keen on eating or food, I miss it. I just want to snack on fruit and crisps mainly and only really eat dinner because my husband does.

I am so unprepared for any kind of nursery, ours is currently a spare room/dressing room. I won’t be able to bring my furniture into our bedroom until baby swaps from sleeping next to me to being in his/her own room so it’s never going to feel finished anyway. I don’t think I’m realistically going to do anything to it until we are out of lockdown and who knows when that will be!

BntTowers · 08/04/2020 15:02

@Quiffy that's so funny, I'm sure no matter how much he prepares there'll still be something that gets him if he's a bit squeamish! I don't think the food realisation has hit DH yet, we are going to have a snack bag for him.

I've really not had any work motivation today, made worse by having so much to do. I've started a list of things we need and started actually putting links to items now. I still think we are going to wait to buy until after the lockdown is over. The thing that's getting me at the moment is all the adverts that are directed my way for baby clothes, there's so many cute ones! DH has asked if we can get some of the star wars themed stuff from Gap. It's actually kinda cute and gender neutral so might not be a no.

Spark27 · 08/04/2020 16:29

@BntTowers, just looked at the Gap stuff. Looks very cute.

Called my mw (turns out I needed too, haha, baby brain kicking in already). Mine are still doing face-to-face appts provided you're showing no symptoms. I'm very surprised, but pleased. Got my 16w appt booked in with them next thursday. Hoping I'll get to hear the heartbeat and that will make me realise it's all real again

Indigogirl88 · 08/04/2020 16:36

@Treaclepie19 oh I've gone the other way, ate meat regularly pre pregnancy now the idea of raw meat is making me feel sick and I'm craving vegetarian food more often than not!

Zaalfruit · 08/04/2020 17:25

@Indigogirl88 I’m with you - the idea of animal protein even thinking about it makes me gag. 😂🤣

Zaalfruit · 08/04/2020 17:28

@BntTowers I forgot about gap clothes I need to check it out now. Work is so Boring I have zero motivation end up just googling baby stuff .

I picked a few prams , my husbands so annoying he wants to read the which reviews about them and then make a decision this applying for electrical and car seats .

Treaclepie19 · 08/04/2020 17:40

@Indigogirl88 that was the same as me with my last two pregnancies. This one is just different!

LexiM · 08/04/2020 17:53

@Zaalfruit which prams have you picked out? Must say I’m a sucker for a review! The problem is you can’t tell nowadays which are genuine ones.

BntTowers · 08/04/2020 17:56

@Zaalfruit that's about all I've done today... not got to prams yet though. Today I was looking at these little highchair type things which look like a little camping chair, great for taking out and about. A friend of ours had one a few years ago and loved it.

Zaalfruit · 08/04/2020 19:03

@LexiM I have no real basis on why I have picked them 😂🤣 I have never pushed a pram ever before : Maxi Cosi Nova 4 Wheels- is my number one currently I am sure I will change my mind in a few days. I like this one because you can face it forward and rotate it so baby can face you . Also I like the handle contrast - but seems a little heavy the pram at 15kg I think 🤔 I don’t want to spend a lot on a pram either - really wanted to go to some second hand sales to see what is on offer. I don’t mind washing everything and disinfecting it all.

Ooh @BntTowers you need to show me some pics . I do like the Tripp trap chairs they look so cool 😎 I didn’t even think about chairs it skipped my mind completely . Some stuff over whelm me like cots and sleep alongside ones . I thought all babies slept in cots - but I read that’s an upgrade after the smaller sleepers I don’t know thou 🤷🏾‍♀️ My biggest issue is space in the bedroom . Where to place the cot if it’s my side of the bed then no room to open the wardrobes . If I swap with my husband then the baby will be right near the toilet and the door will just about miss the cot .. decisions or can you place a cot at the end of the bed?

( also have you heard that Mumsnet might become a subscriptions service £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year)

Spark27 · 08/04/2020 19:26

@BntTowers I looked at those last time, and they do look good, but my problem is it's another thing to take around with you. You'll have buggy, clothes, blanket, nappies, etc, toys, maybe food/snacks, bottles/cups, etc, then anything you need (my cards and phone just get shoved in the changing bag now)
I found that the bottom of the buggy was always full of the other stuff, and then you might have shopping bags as well. And if your not using a buggy for that trip you also have the baby to carry.........
It you go to eat restaurants/cafes have high chairs or if you have a picnic they can just sit. But obvs personal preference

Indigogirl88 · 08/04/2020 19:30

Oh god, pram shopping. First time mum here, any tips? I'm mainly concerned with having some off roading and a large storage bit. Plus I'm short and oh is tall so something to adjust easily. I'm looking at the ickle bubba ones
