I'm trying not to give myself too much of a hard time for not exercising. Doing an online class (barre or pilates) once a week right now, might try to up it to twice a week if the nausea goes away like everyone keeps saying it does in the second trimester. I definitely did lots more when I could physically go to exercise classes and had to book them in advance but my evening nausea is still pretty bad tbh so counting once a week classes as a win.

NWnature · 04/04/2020 21:34

I’m impressed by all the exercise! I am literally lounging on the sofa lifting crisps to my mouth on occasion! Eeek.
Going to try and find the motivation tomorrow to give a YouTube class a go and then see if I can try and get a routine going in the week. Hope you’ve all had a nice Saturday.

otterbaby · 04/04/2020 22:01

@NWnature the one I did today was Bodyfit by Amy 2nd trimester 20 min cardio. It wasn't actually too bad!

Aquablue1123 · 05/04/2020 05:07

I feel better reading the thread today, I have cravings for McDonald's salty fries and Easter eggs. Basically, I have craved hangover food for 8weeks because of the sickness ... oops.

I've put 2kg on upto now, but need to keep an eye on it, as I can't afford to put loads of weight on as I'm short. :-)

I will definitely try to keep the exercise up, but I do struggle with motivation especially with working from home.

@Buzz22 that's great news on your results Daffodil

Zaalfruit · 05/04/2020 07:30

@Aquablue1123 I have so many cravings to , I want waffles and pancakes . I have put on so much weight to . If I exercise I end up being sick . My exercise is walking up and down the stairs and getting up to rummage the cupboard for snacks.

@Buzz22 yay for the results :)

@LexiM you got me craving I really want an Easter egg now at7.30 am the one with mini eggs. Yum 🤤

Indigogirl88 · 05/04/2020 07:41

@Aquablue1123 I'm really short as well and cant afford the extra weight I've put on around 4 or 5 pounds so far. Is your lower back hurting much? Mine is killing as my lower back has a slight curve in it Sad

Aquablue1123 · 05/04/2020 08:44

@Indigogirl88 yes I am starting to feel backache now too, plus I found my first stretch marks today on my belly! Eek I have been oiling up too ... no more Easter eggs for me :-)!

What creams/oils are people using to help with stretch marks? I've been using mama bees lemon oil and Estée Lauder miracle oil too.

Spark27 · 05/04/2020 08:53

@Aquablue1123, I've been using the Palmers cocoa butter stretch mark cream. Used it throughout my last pregnancy and didn't get any stretch marks. I'd be surprised if I'm as lucky this time round as I seem to be craving more beige food. Last time I was making sure I ate loads of fruit, this time all I want is chocolate eclairs, Easter eggs, McDs (still gutted its shut), etc. I think my only saving grace will be running around after my toddler and not being able to eat as much as I dont want her to eat all that rubbish too.

Woke up this morning with a headache already. Great. Both DH and I are completely knackered already today, whereas DD seems to have all the energy. It's going to be a struggle

Treaclepie19 · 05/04/2020 09:03

I normally use bio oil but have none in.
I'll have to get some!
I've stil got this rib pain so I'll be ringing the doctors tomorrow 😩
Let's hope it's just something harmless that goes away.
I'm on the beige train too! Really off food still and just eating what I fancy. Plenty of chocolate in the mix.

Aquablue1123 · 05/04/2020 09:07

I've heard palmers is good, will have a google. Yes, beige food all the way, I need to get some veggies down me!

Ah no, @Treaclepie19 I hope the pain eases soon!

Buzz22 · 05/04/2020 09:14

I've just ordered some mama mio tummy rub butter. Used the bounty app and there was 25% off. No idea if it's any good. I think strech marks are genetic anyway? You're either prone to them or you're not. I'm a slim person but have stretch marks from growing upwards as a teenager! I'm expecting to get them at some point along the way!
Anyone have a noticeable bump yet? I've definitely widened out a bit around the middle. Still in my usual clothes though. Generally feel bloated and despite managing to do exercise I've mainly been eating crisps and potatoes! Cant stomach anything else!

Spark27 · 05/04/2020 09:22

@Buzz22 I have a bump that grows throughout the day. In the mornings I just look a bit fat and wobbly, then by the evening it's a taught, small bump. But last time round I dont think I was like that until closer to 20w. I'm in my under the bump maternity jeans as I already have them and it's more comfortable to wear those then go for the hairband trick. Think I might treat myself to a new pair soon as my black pair are still fine, but my blue pair have gone a bit baggy.

Treaclepie19 · 05/04/2020 09:42

Looking rather round today. I'm overweight anyway though.

Quiffy · 05/04/2020 10:21

Morning everyone!

@treaclepie19 very cute bump. Hope your ribs are okay?

I have a bump but it also has a doughnut ring of flab underneath after my "we're not getting pregnant so I'm going to eat my feelings" before christmas. So, unfortunately I was heaviest when I got pregnant so scared how much I put on. Avoiding bump photos because of that hehe. I had lost over a stone but feel the beige food is adding up.

@Spark27 Hope your headache eases up

Treaclepie19 · 05/04/2020 10:26

@Quiffy thank you! Rib is still sore 😭 Going to ring the doctors tomorrow if it carries on.

I also put on loads of weight right before getting pregnant. I've lost 8lbs so far but not sure where from 😂

I'm with you on the food front. I'd love some food we haven't had to cook.

No exciting plans. If I'm up to it I'm going to do a house clean. If it's too painful, I'm playing the sims!

NWnature · 05/04/2020 11:29

@Quiffy that sounds like a nightmare!

I just did two work outs! Did the Lucy Wyndham-read first trimester HIIT- really short and just two moves but I am clearly v unfit as it did get my heart rate up. Then I did one round of the 2nd Trimester workout she with Anna Saccone. I think I’ll try some of the BodyFit by Amy ones next. Also need to find a yoga routine that I like thinking that perhaps in the evenings before bed.

It’s such a beautiful day- I want to go to the park and read my book Sad

bluemoon2468 · 05/04/2020 12:09

I had put on 3kg by my booking in appt at 8 weeks, but was weighed again at my 12 week scan and had only put on an additional 0.3kg so I'm happy with that! Definitely have a small but clear bump now, and it's my first pregnancy! Can't wear any of my old tight clothes so am already in maternity jeans. I don't think it's general weight because it's very clearly all on my bump! A bit worried about how huge I'm going to end up!

MsSian93 · 05/04/2020 19:43

I'm definitely noticing a bump now too! Given up with my jeans but my under the bump ones still feel a bit loose! Ordered a few maternity tops as mine are not fitting right. I was getting too fat for my normal clothes before getting pregnant so pushing it now haha !

BntTowers · 05/04/2020 20:29

The bump photo is so cute.
I think mine is still mainly bloat, maybe a tiny hump but I'm not sure.

I had quite a bad dizzy spell when cooking tea tonight. Had to sit on the stairs until it passed and shout DH down. DH finished cooking and once I ate and had an apple I feel a fair bit better.

Quiffy · 06/04/2020 09:02

@BntTowers That sounds scary, are you feeling okay today?

@Treaclepie19 How's the ribs, still phoning doc today?

How's everyone else??

Made the decision over the weekend that we're going to sell the single bed in the back room to make into just a nursery with a home office/game bit in the corner. Rather than it being a guest bedroom too. The initial plan was to get a blow up single for the living room but we'll get a double now. I was struggling to find any cribs that were going to fit in and was stressing out.

It's one of those big Ikea day beds that transforms into a double bed. Seems crazy to keep it just for one weekend every 6 months or so. With it gone will be able to get a crib and chest of drawers in that space and a wardrobe where there's a bookcase. Plus there will be much more floor space for playing and annoying DH if he's working from home.

BntTowers · 06/04/2020 09:32

@Quiffy I had a terrible night's sleep, felt sick every time I moved. Still feeling a bit light headed and dizzy this morning. Just had jam on toast so hoping the sugar will help. Will let the midwife know next time she calls, but when I've looked online it seems quite common.

Your nursery plans sound good! The room which will be ours still has some stuff from moving in! Need to get that sorted asap really and get at least some curtains up in there soon. DH wants to wait for a fair while until we start ordering things for the nursery.

Quiffy · 06/04/2020 09:47

@Bnttowers Make sure you're eating often and rest up - defo sounds like your blood sugars are playing up.

Do you think your nesting instincts are kicking in? I want to go go go and DH is like "it's April you weirdo".

Treacle81 · 06/04/2020 09:48

Morning girls! 2nd trimester 🥳 just hoping start to feel better soon! Just back from Aldi, managed to get my essentials so that should do me for a fortnight! xx

OP posts:
BntTowers · 06/04/2020 09:58

I don't think my nesting instincts are kicking in yet, I just like to be organised super early for everything! I also am able to do a little research and then make decisions quickly and be sure about them, something DH finds incredibly difficult as he needs to do a ridiculous amount of research into everything. Which is another reason I think we need to start looking for things soon. I might give home the job of finding a baby monitor and just leave him to that...

I think when nesting kicks in I'm going to be a bit unbearable...

Quiffy · 06/04/2020 10:06

@treacle81 Happy second trimester! Great job on the shopping, it's hard atm.

@Bnttowers That sounds a nightmare on the research. The baby monitor sounds like a great idea, let him get on with that. Tbf, I think I'll do it all, happened at our wedding I found everything, asked him if he liked and he still thinks he planned half of it.
