@Zara1234uk someone suggested ice lollies for me for sickness and they really help as its kind of mindless to get some liquid and calories in! I've started making them at home with orange juice xx

burntpinky · 31/03/2020 13:47

@Hancock2020 sorry to hear that but glad Boris has come through and fingers crossed all will be fine x

Zara1234uk · 31/03/2020 13:59

Thanks @Hancock2020 I will have a look now! And yes that’s a fab idea I’ll have dp have a look in the local supermarket if they have any ice lolly kits!

Hancock2020 · 31/03/2020 14:08

@burntpinky it was an emotional day the day I found out about being laid off because an hour later I found out about bump. I was an emotional wreck lol, but at least not working means bump gets plenty of rest. Not sure how much I'll end up working this year 🤷‍♀️

Hancock2020 · 31/03/2020 14:10

Just been out for a walk, went for a bit longer than normal to get me out the house, and now I'm shattered! My back hurts and I need a nap lol 🥱

LozEliza · 31/03/2020 14:18

@Zara1234uk I'm 8 weeks today too so I guess we're due date buddies :) my booking in appt is on the 9th by phone. Did they say anything to you about the 12 week scan?

My biggest recommendations that I've found help with nausea are

Ice lollies
Jelly sweets
Ice cream
Strawberry milkshake
Grapes (think frozen grapes would be good too)
Raw vegetables (like mange toute)
Lemon water
Porridge in the morning

Fredthespider · 31/03/2020 14:34

@Addler Did you get an early scan because of a previous ectopic? I'm allowed to have one after my suspected ectopic last month, but I wasn't sure if they'll still allowing them if they're not essential. I was going to ask the midwives when they call hopefully this week.

Addler · 31/03/2020 14:46

@Fredthespider I had a private one, I had a MC in jan so wanted to be reassured. Just left with more questions unfortunately but at least it's not ectopic!

LozEliza · 31/03/2020 14:50

@Fredthespider mine went ahead last Thursday they told me they're classed as essential due to the fact you had complications last time

Audio30 · 31/03/2020 14:51

Thanks for all the sickness food suggestions! At the moment I'm living off beige food and sherbert lemons (odd, not sure I even liked them before!!). I'm only 6+4 and the nausea is pretty constant from about 11am til bedtime - have people found the level of sickness is staying the same as the weeks go on or getting worse week on week?

Snowwhite2020 · 31/03/2020 14:56

Hi guys can I join? Due end of November. Been feeling pretty well but totally get what you girls mean about fatigue and craving fatty, salty foods! Would love a Nando’s!! Xx

Fredthespider · 31/03/2020 15:04

@Addler sorry to hear about your MC but good news about it not being ectopic! If it reassures you seeing a yolk sac is still good news at your gestation. They think that develops around 5.5-6 weeks. There is so much change in the early weeks as they grow so fast :)

@LozEliza that's great to hear! I assume everything was good with your scan?

@Snowwhite2020 good to see you here! I default to chicken nuggets and ritz biscuits!

Zara1234uk · 31/03/2020 15:34

@LozEliza yes according to lmp I’m due 10th nov, yeah I asked about the 12 week scan and she said they would send me one out in the post after I’ve had my blood drawn as I was technically booked on the system till then.. thank you I will give your suggestions a go, I’m really suffering currently and being treated for a water infection too! Added to that I’ve got some pain in the region of my appendix so playing a waiting game to see if it worsens!

SMcG1 · 31/03/2020 16:02

@Audio30 my MS had pretty much gone for about a week but yesterday came back with a vengeance! Felling terrible today. I’m 9+2 now so hoping I only have a couple more weeks of this.

HarrietM87 · 31/03/2020 16:04

My sickness is really coming and going...it was on and off but then mid last week started to ramp up day by day and the weekend was terrible. Then yesterday and today I’ve felt much better and obviously panicking that it means there’s something wrong! It’s so weird actually wanting to feel sick. I’m 7+6 today and I have another scan on Thursday at 8+1.

Addler · 31/03/2020 16:27

@Fredthespider That is so reassuring to hear, thank you!

seventhrow · 31/03/2020 17:25

Hello I am new here. Due 11 November. 31 yrs, first pregnancy.

I guess I've found myself here because I feel like I'm struggling sometimes and it's such a strange time to be pregnant. I am working from home and work is kind of awful at the moment because it's all about saving money. I'm worried about staff and paying the bills and how we're going to get through this.

I'm exhausted all the time. Really really exhausted. I get awful nausea frequently throughout the day although I've only thrown up twice.

I went to the hospital for my booking appointment on Sunday and it was completely surreal as London is locked down.. there was no one on front desk in the early pregnancy unit and I had to wait outside the locked door in the corridor for 20mins wondering if they were even open. Appointment went ok but they couldn't find my veins (tried 6 times including the hands!) so they say they'll just do it later when I have my first scan.

Just the whole situation is completely surreal and worrying about work is tiring me so much I just want to sleep all the time!

Anyway, hi!!! Hope everyone is having an ok day, all things considered xxx

Schrodingerscat17 · 31/03/2020 17:37

Hi all, can I join? Found out last week that I'm expecting my first - due at the end of November! I've spoken to the docs and they said a midwife would be in touch, I just wondered when this would be... I've not heard anything and it's been a week. What's other people's experience been like? Xx

LozEliza · 31/03/2020 17:47

@Schrodingerscat17 took just over a week for them to get in touch with me and that was after I left a second message to prompt them a little bit. Mine was a direct midwife referral voicemail to call though rather than via the gp.

FireflyGirl · 31/03/2020 17:51

@Schrodingerscat17 it varies depending on your area, and of course the current situation isn't normal anyway. I'd say give them a call back of you haven't heard by the end of the week, but the appointment is usually when you're 8-ish weeks.

@seventhrow we're all finding it just a bit odd, so here is a good place to vent/ask questions.

Congratulations to you both Flowers

I called, and my booking appointment is still going ahead on Thursday in person.

LozEliza · 31/03/2020 17:56

@Audio30 my sickness has progressively gotten easier to manage day by day. Week 6 was awful. Week 7 was pretty bad but more manageable. Just hit week 8 today and feeling a lot better. I read it's a lot to do with when the baby has a growth spurt for example hormones surge and then you get used to them for a bit until there's another surge and you feel crap again.

@Fredthespider everything was good with the scan thank you had it at 7+2 and was measuring spot on, was in the right place and had a heart beat :)!

@seventhrow sorry to hear that you are struggling you are due one day after me! I'm terrified about getting my bloods done as they can never find my veins either and I don't feel emotionally prepared as I feel weaker than usual due to pregnancy symptoms rn.

WildflowerPetals · 31/03/2020 18:03

I didn’t realise we’d already started the new thread, the other isn’t full yet haha!

I’m in Sheffield and had my booking appt over the phone on Friday - She said I’d have all my bloods, BP, etc. done at my 12 week scan 😊

My last post on the previous thread was about announcing your pregnancy to parents whilst social distancing - Has anyone thought about this or know how they’re going to do it?

Schrodingerscat17 · 31/03/2020 18:08

@FireflyGirl and @LozEliza thankyou both :) I'll see what happens this week and give them a nudge if I've not heard anything! Xx

seventhrow · 31/03/2020 18:19

@LozEliza Thanks for replying :-). I'm normally ok with bloods as I've had several stints of anaemia in the past so used to it. But they really struggled on Sunday! Don't forget to drink lots of water before hand and take a snack in case you get dizzy. And stay warm - my skin was quite cold and they blamed that for my veins hiding. I didn't think the cold would be such a factor and it was quite nippy over the weekend.

Hancock2020 · 31/03/2020 18:33

Is anyone else feeling really dizzy?
