Another new thread for the Nov mums to continue our discussion!

Hey everyone, joining the new thread. At 7+4 now, developing what I think is a normal cold and seconding what others have said about beige foods!! Clinging to the hope that I will make up for it in the second trimester 😬

Just can't wait to get to 12 week scan so I can relax a bit and let our mums tells everyone as they have been dying to! 😂

Sakura54 · 31/03/2020 18:53

@WildflowerPetals I think I was a bit hasty in starting this thread. Didn’t expect someone to start a new convo here straightaway when the other still has a few pages left lol!

Ergh don’t get me started on midwives and their inability to draw blood from me. The pain and bruises I got during and after labour, from needles being stuck in weird places...they had to get a nurse to do it in the end. Luckily at my booking, a phlebotomist especially for pregnant women took my blood.

This time, if someone tries to take blood from anywhere other than my arm, I’m going to say “Hell no!” Lol.

Was wondering why it was so quiet on the last thread lol! Just caught up with all the comments. Scotland here too and my first appointment is on Thursday ... no word about it being cancelled/changed as of yet.

SqidgeBum · 31/03/2020 22:04

Hey everyone. I have a question someone may be able to answer. My DH has been called back into work (gas engineer) starting next Monday. I am supposed to be going in for bloods etc next week, and then the scan in 3 weeks. I am supposed to be alone, but I have my DD full time now. Has anyone asked about bringing their kids in? There is nobody to mind her while DH is at work. Anyone else come across this issue?

somegoodnewsforonce · 31/03/2020 22:09

@SqidgeBum as far as I know children aren't allowed to attend atm.
Could your DH take annual leave?

SqidgeBum · 31/03/2020 22:27

Usually they insist on 3 weeks notice before taking a day off but maybe in these circumstances they will make an exception. Its that or I dont get basic maternity care. I think I will have to insist. Its pretty important.

somegoodnewsforonce · 31/03/2020 22:37

@SqidgeBum you could maybe phone the midwife unit and ask if they could do your bloods etc at your scan. Then it's only once your DH has to be off for now.

McGreenhill · 31/03/2020 23:06

Hi there, I’m 8+2 now due 8th Nov. It’s my first and am really feeling the sickness and tiredness. Comforting to see such a friendly group here going through similar things in strange times!

canueve · 01/04/2020 08:24

@McGreenhill welcome and congrats. x

Jay0512 · 01/04/2020 08:24

Hi, wasn’t sure which thread to post on. But 8+3 due November 8th with first! Some nausea, thrown up a few times, lots of bloating! Had an early scan at 7 weeks, everything was fine and heard the heartbeat! Had booking appointment over the phone last week and next scan is the end of April. Exciting but sad it’s during a time like this. Upsetting that partner won’t be allowed in the next scan.

Charlottethevet · 01/04/2020 08:32

8 +5 today :D
For the first time in a while Ive woken up and had very little nausea!- just feeling ravenous- hope this is nothing to worry about... I guess it's normal for symptoms to come and go?

I have my first midwife appointment today- we are still going ahead and doing it face to face,- So exciting! My Husband isn't allowed to come along with me tho.... he's a little disappointed about that

Chuckem15 · 01/04/2020 08:37

@mamayoucefka I've booked an early scan at window to the womb on wood street which is still doing scans. Mine isn't until next Saturday so really hoping they don't cancel!
7 weeks tomorrow! Had a horrible MC dream last night so kinda relieved to wake up feeling sick. Mine tends to get better (although still there) as the day goes on.
Defs gonna try ice lollies otherwise for me it's anything salty/with loads of flavour, crisps, marmite on toast, hummus, oranges, frozen grapes, pasta pesto...

Lyris · 01/04/2020 08:39

6+6 here with first. Still waiting for appointment for scan and midwife. I have thyroid and autoimmune conditions so higher risk of complications so thought I would have heard by now but I guess they are struggling with everything that's going on

somegoodnewsforonce · 01/04/2020 08:43

@Charlottethevet honestly, your DH won't be missing much. When I was pregnant with my son not many people had partners at appointments (other than scans).
You'll just fill in a long form and do a urine and blood test.

Snowwhite2020 · 01/04/2020 09:16

I’m 5+3 and the nausea is really starting to hit.... I’m a bit scared of it getting worse, as I’ve read it does. Xx

Macarena1980 · 01/04/2020 09:34

Hi hope it’s okay for me to join, I’m 7 weeks not told anyone except OH yet and my booking in appointment has been moved forward to tomorrow and will be over the phone. The midwife has said that the only thing they can’t do Over phone is the blood test. I’m assuming this checks your HGC levels? she said they would do this as my 1st scan instead. Anyone else been told this? I’m in Scotland. Xx

mamayoucefka · 01/04/2020 09:38

@chuckem15 I booked one with them yesterday (walthamstow branch) for next Sunday. I will be starting week 8 by then so I hope they will be able to see something.

WildflowerPetals · 01/04/2020 09:44

@Macarena1980 I had my booking appointment over the phone last Friday - the midwife told me I’ll be having my bloods, BP, height, weight, etc done at my 12 week scan. I’m in England but I’m assuming it might be the same for you x

WildflowerPetals · 01/04/2020 09:47

@Hancock2020 I had some dizziness up to about 7 weeks (or there abouts), it seemed to come on when I stood for too long or made sudden movements - I’d also see stars sometimes. I’m 9+3 now and not had any for a while x

Chuckem15 · 01/04/2020 10:06

@mamayoucefka oh great! That's the day after mine! I'll be 8-2. Hoping for the same and will be nice to go with DH as looks like he won't be at 12 weeks. At the moment just feeling excited about it but I know KN the day I'll be so nervous!

bluebell94 · 01/04/2020 10:48

Got myself all worked up and anxious this morning. I'm terrified of MMC - I'd never even heard of them before MN! Google tells me they're really not as common as MN would have me believe but I'm just so scared. I have my private scan on Friday then NHS one 3 weeks today. I've had no cramps/bleeding and nothing like that to suggest anything is wrong except my lack of nausea, though I haven't really had any from the start. I'm desperately hoping that just means I'm one of the lucky ones that doesn't suffer and not that something is wrong. DH mentions 'the baby' and I'm so quick to say 'well we don't know if there is one' and he's baffled as to why I would say that. I'm terrified Sad

mamayoucefka · 01/04/2020 10:56

@Chuckem15 same, I am pretty sure I will be more nervous than excited on the day ;) I am also worried that they will do transvaginal scan, never had that done before so I am not sure how I feel about it. My DH probably wont be able to come as noone can stay with my DS.

Also, I was worrying that no nausea can be a bad sign. Just hit me today to the point that the only thing I can have is orange juice 🤷‍♀️

Hancock2020 · 01/04/2020 11:10

@WildflowerPetals thank you for replying.

Just booked in for a scan on the 13th, very excited Grin
Dh keeps asking if I have CV because I'm tired and feel sick 🙄 it's like hello.... I'm pregnant muppet 🤣

NoseringGirl · 01/04/2020 11:25

@bluebell94 I think a certain amount of worry is normal in the first trimester (and throughout motherhood for that matter...) but like you say, MMC aren't as common as it usually appears on boards like this! I think it's because women who have experienced loss are maybe more likely to look for support on forums so there's a higher percentage. I know it's easier said than done, but please try not to worry too much. Your chances of a good outcome are much higher than the chances of anything else.

SqidgeBum · 01/04/2020 11:31

@bluebell94 its easy to think from looking on these boards and seeing everyone get reassurance scans and talk about fears of a MMC that it happens to every second woman, but as @NoseringGirl rightly said, it's goingto be slightly unbalanced here because people who have suffered MMC previously will seek out support on forums like this. Try to remember that if you are a healthy weight, have no big medical issues, and are under 40, your chances of MMC past 8 weeks are 2-4%. The week before that it's about 7%. That's very very small. Just take it one day at a time. Nerves are normal, everyone gets them, but the likelihood of something bad happening is really very low.
