@Chickoletta good luck, thinking of you x

Audio30 · 15/04/2020 07:33

Thanks everyone, I guess I'm naturally quite pessimistic but it's probably not a bad thing to be aware of all possible outcomes.

@Chickoletta good luck today, will be keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Pink15 · 15/04/2020 07:41

For anyone that's had a bump before - I want to get some new PJs as my waist band is getting a bit tight on some of mine. Will maternity PJs swamp me at the point like I don't mind if the top does but thinking will the trousers literally fall down? I guess alternative would be to buy next size up in non maternity?

Rainbowafterthestorm · 15/04/2020 07:58

@BabyKnighty1, tbh with my gym being shut I’ve not tried. I’ve been doing squats with a kettle bell and going for about 1 Hrs walk a day but that’s about it. I have thought that if the lockdown does lift during my second Trimester id speak to a PT and ask what she advises me to avoid. It’s the same with classes, I’m going to avoid combat (non contact but abit jumpy) but go to Zumba (there is a least three other pregnant woman go to that so I can adapt like them). At the minute I’m conscious of causing an injury/straining something that makes me worry about the baby. The last place I want to end up in a n e again! :(
@Pink15 I’ve just ordered some in the next size up, my thought was, if I get some next size up, I could wear them after the baby is born for a bit. I’ll probably get some maternity ones come summer. There has been a couple of sales on though (Dorothy Perkins was one) so I have bought a couple of maternity tops as they were 50% off. Nothing major though, as I’m not sure when I’ll need to wear them.

BabyKnighty1 · 15/04/2020 08:09

@Rainbowafterthestorm yeah getting a PT could be a good idea! I have a torn ligament which tore off a piece of bone (happened before I got pregnant) so currently can’t actually do any leg exercises apart from causal walking. I luckily got a couple of weights before the lockdown started but have only used them a couple of times 😂.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 15/04/2020 08:13

@babyknighty1 I managed to buy quite a lot of equipment just before lock down (bar bell and weights, kettlebell, dumbbells, wall ball etc). I’ve been taking it easy and have cut burpees out completely as I don’t feel comfortable doing them (any excuse). I want to keep my core strong so kettlebells have been my go to.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 15/04/2020 08:14

Good coronavirus bonus - the ultramarathon I was meant to be doing this year has been postponed, so I don’t have to make up an excuse as to why I can’t do it 😂 would have been a giveaway. Although now it is when I will be (hopefully) 8 months postpartum which may be a stretch.

SqidgeBum · 15/04/2020 08:19

@Pink15 maternity bottoms probably wont fit til about 20 weeks plus. You will be surprised how massive they are! There is this horrible inbetween phase where normal clothes dont fit, and maternity clothes are too big. I basically gave up on bottoms and went for dresses for work etc for those 8 weeks or so.

KatieGlo · 15/04/2020 08:31

What about some drawstring type PJ bottoms a few sizes bigger? Then you can adjust them to where you are now belly-wise ?

LozEliza · 15/04/2020 08:36

@Chuckem15 my worst aversion has been garlic and onion. I can detect garlic in any food and smell it all over the house for days. It completely turns my stomach! Which is crazy cause I used to love garlic.

@Rainbowafterthestorm yes it completely sucks we haven't had our letters yet! My bloods are being done next Tuesday so if I don't have it by then I'll ask when I go in.

littlegem84 · 15/04/2020 08:36

@Pink15 I had one pair of maternity pjs last time but didn’t get them until a bit later. In hospital I bought a couple of sized up nightshirts which are mega comfy from Primark which I’m still wearing a year later (I actually prefer them being a bit big on me). I’d highly recommend because they accommodate a bump without having to worry about uncomfy waistbands

Rainbowafterthestorm · 15/04/2020 08:41

@LozEliza, I had my letter yesterday for the 4th May. Which will make me 13 weeks if my calculations are correct. It seems like a life time away.

SqidgeBum · 15/04/2020 09:11

I second the night shirts. If you end up with a section you wont want to wear bottoms after the baby is born. I gave birth in a night shirt. So comfy. I just bought 3 of them for the hospital.

HarrietM87 · 15/04/2020 09:18

@Chickoletta good luck today - will be thinking of you.

@Pink15 I agree with @Squidgebum - there’s an awful in between phase when maternity doesn’t fit as it needs a proper round bump to hold it up. If you buy some stretchy pjs in a slightly bigger size they’ll definitely come in useful after the baby is born.

My son was born in April so my maternity clothes are kind of the opposite season to what I’ll need this time round. I’m still in normal ones atm and not going to work will make it easier but already dreading finding work and bump appropriate clothes for summer!

canueve · 15/04/2020 09:34

@HarrietM87 i am so so happy for you and @Chickoletta thinking about you and hoping to hear great news later today.

This is my first pregnancy but I feel worried all the time that something will happen. I see people announcing at 13/14 weeks on Instagram and think are you mad? But then I think, why not enjoy it as much as you can?
It's such a rollercoaster.

Right now I think like all of you I just want to get to 12 weeks and my dating scan to make sure everything is going to plan.
we will do this ladies xx

excitednerves · 15/04/2020 09:39

@Pink15 I bought normal PJs in a size up last time and will do the same again this time. Plus you can still wear them afterwards without them drowning you - and you’re more likely to get cheap normal pyjamas than maternity ones I think.

Tonicandgin · 15/04/2020 09:43

@pink15 it really depends on what you buy. Some are huge, but under bump ones I find fit for ages. I'm in maternity trousers already and they're fine. Fit well around my legs/hips (same fit as my actual jeans) just go under my tummy.

canueve · 15/04/2020 09:45

hey @Pcosandpregnant if you mean messages from a couple of days ago I think I did reply to you, saying that on thread 1 there were lots of ladies with PCOS sharing notes.
I also have one of my best friends with pcos who had a healthy baby in January. ;)

@BabyKnighty1 I am so happy someone asked about that, just yesterday I was trying to do abs and it just feels so weird!!! I do some home workouts and some are definitely different.
Even when I go pee I feel something in my tummy, very funny feeling.

I have done lots of research on going to the gym pregnant and you can do almost everything, I'll just lower the weights and how fast I go.
Abs seems to be the main thing we need to adjust and do it differently.
I have a tiny home gym left by the previous owner but I haven't been there much Grin really hope this lockdown is over soon as I love being in a gym environment.

Tonicandgin · 15/04/2020 09:45

I bought some things a size up and I wouldn't do it again. They're bigger everywhere, tee shirts are too baggy around my chest etc.

Works for some people but I wouldn't do it automatically. I'm going to buy a few extra bits of good quality, Seraphine mainly. I do have several pairs of trousers and a few tee shirts left over from last time.

Tonicandgin · 15/04/2020 09:47

I've been doing Joe Wicks daily and going for walks. Sadly have had to stop running because I'm usually a treadmill runner and it's just too hilly round here to be able to hold a conversation whilst running. (Midwife advice). So going to restart swimming and yoga/Pilates when lockdown is over.

CoBell · 15/04/2020 09:50

Good Morning all, I hope you are all doing well! I’ve been in the shadows of this thread for a while now! Its been reassuring to know I’m not alone in this worrying and anxious time! I had a private scan yesterday and all is looking well and measuring at 10+1 Smile I had the scan internally and found out I have a tilted womb which I had no idea about! Has anyone else found out this and is it quite common? Confused

Sakura54 · 15/04/2020 10:32

What! I’ve just noticed that the thread is nearly full! Made a new one again.

@tonicandgin - I'm also a regular runner but have allowed myself to downgrade runs into stomps - I highly recommend! It's basically "running when it's easy to and I feel I can, and stomping when it's not...". (I.e, just walking at a good pace). I've been suffering awful fatigue but this way I still get some good exercise and fresh air. The run takes longer but it's fun and refreshing!

@cobell - hello! not sure what a tilted womb is as this is my first time round... but welcome!

Tonicandgin · 15/04/2020 10:46

@cobell my Mum has a tilted womb only found out in later life. She struggles with smears and Doctor has to do them but otherwise has never had problems.

No idea on any birth impact, she had 2 Csections but it was 1980s and I think most people did, so may well be unrelated.
