Another new thread for the Nov mums to continue our discussion!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@seventhrow 1lb is fine because we are barely pregnant! I’m desperate to weigh myself even though I know my weight hasn’t changed, but my scales still have no battery!

I wish my ms was easing. I’ve been signed off work now and need to find the right combo of drugs but the gp is pushing back a bit 😔 I’ve lost 4kg (nearly 9lb). Can’t even take my three year old for his injections today.

Just found out booking in is by phone. I’m crap at discussing things over the phone and I need to push for things that were promised by my consultant after my disastrous labour last time. I’m really worried I won’t have the back up and can’t get my thoughts through on the phone 😔

Keep bursting into tears and stressing that I’m losing even more fluid by doing so 🙄 haven’t kept a drink down in days.

Pink15 · 14/04/2020 15:07

@Fouryearslater maybe you could write down a list of your key points before the phone call so it may be easier to remember as the phone call goes on and you can even write down the answers and tick things off?

Rainbowafterthestorm · 14/04/2020 15:23

@AnxiousLady1 I’ve literally just had my 12 week dating scan letter through for 4th May which will make me 13 weeks exactly (if my calculations are correct). My letter a bit confusing, it says that I can take 1 person and the scan photo is £5. I can’t help but think it’s just a standard letter as my OH wasn’t allowed in the hospital when I went to the epau a few weeks ago, but I’ll keep an eye on the hospital fb page as the policies are changing all the time at the minute.

@seventhrow, even though I’ve only had nausea I’m finding ice lollies seem to help a lot (and fizzy sweets - but I’m trying to avoid those). I bought some ice lolly moulds and I’ve frozen yogurt and fruit too, they are seeming to help as well without all the artificial sugar.

Has anyone actually gone off something they used to love? I now cannot face anything associated with a chicken - eggs, chicken meat. The thought and smell if the other half makes any, literally makes me wretch.

KatieGlo · 14/04/2020 15:34

Can't stand the idea of a curry, I (and DH) used to absolutely love curry, I'd make my own or we'd get a takeaway. He's very disappointed that the evening meal has been mashed potato pretty much every night for weeks.
I'd kill for the hoisin shredded crispy duck pancakes from the Chinese at the moment, but all the ones nearby are closed for the foreseeable future... so sad...

Amymone · 14/04/2020 15:43

I'll be in the November gang too! Hi!

burntpinky · 14/04/2020 16:17

Shit I’ve put about 9lbs on but I have been eating like a pig and doing no exercise. I’m on 2 x types of pills for morning sickness and wonder if they’ve anything to do with it. My eating has probs calmed down a bit in the last week. By Monday will have been signed off 5 weeks but going back Monday so maybe I’ll eat less then

FilthyforFirth · 14/04/2020 16:18

Had my scan, all good! Strong heartbeat and measuring where it should be. So pleased as been feeling very anxious.

Bonus, my call only lasted 45 mins and wasn't sick!

Samanthalouise1 · 14/04/2020 16:19

Just had my booking appointment over the phone, she says i will get my appointment for my scan through soon but my husband is not allowed even into the hospital building he must wait in the car Sad
Hoping i can facetime or something!

kkr168 · 14/04/2020 16:22

I'm 7+1 today, just got off the phone to the midwife, I wasn't expecting to hear from them yet. She said she'll call back next week & do the booking in appointment over the phone.
@ParisInTheSpringtime I've been having cramps from approx 3 weeks, they come & go & are quite mild. I did take a paracetamol last night, after they'd kept me awake most of the previous night. I don't remember having these cramps with my son but that was 16 years ago.

Fouryearslater · 14/04/2020 16:25

@burntpinky May I ask what drugs you are on? And have they eliminated the sickness?

cmosh · 14/04/2020 17:00

Managed to get a private scan (through Groupon no less!) today and it was amazing! Measuring 10+3 (I thought I was 10+6) so really pleased. Even better the OH could come and experience it with me - still have my NHS scan on 27th.

I had bad cramps from 6-8 weeks and a bleed at 8 weeks so for all you ladies there's some hope! Also had almost all symptoms disappear in the last week so just just be the placenta taking over Smile

seventhrow · 14/04/2020 17:11

@Rainbowafterthestorm What is it about the fizzy sour sweets?? I just had half a bag of Haribo Shock. felt so good whilst chewing but feel terrible now.

FilthyforFirth · 14/04/2020 17:12

I have found chewing sweets randomly to help a little bit. I had some moam strips last night!

seventhrow · 14/04/2020 17:18

@filthyforfirth Maybe it's to do with being pure sugar with no substance to trigger nausea.... and then also being so tired that the sugar rush is amazing...

Chuckem15 · 14/04/2020 17:25

Love hearing about the cravings and food aversions. I've been vegan since January but suddenly the idea of all plant based dairy alternative products making me want to throw up and I've been craving cream cheese and meat 😳 I've given in and had cream cheese bagels, fish and chips, and started back on all the non vegan snacks. Anyone else hating the smell and after taste or onion and garlic? DH is doing all the cooking and I can eat it but the smell beforehand always turns my stomach.

Had blood and urine test today so hoping that'll tell me if I'm lacking in anything hence the meat cravings. Was surprised when she said my blood pressure was fine as I've been eating so much salt and grease and doing no exercise for weeks. I'm 9 weeks today, and had a private scan at Window to the Womb on Saturday. So emotional seeing the little heart beat!

Reassured by messages of MS subsiding after this week too. Thank you!

Tonicandgin · 14/04/2020 17:26

I've been thinking. If the country opens early May (or after) it will be after my 12 wk scan so I think we might pay for a private scan thereafter so my kids and dh can come and see baby.

Amymone · 14/04/2020 17:30

Anyone else feel sad that their 'lockdown treats' are no more now they are preggers?
I literally put in a giant wine order the night before I found out I'm pregnant and was so looking forward to diving into that!! Also normally love cooking and eating so lockdown would be the perfect opportunity, but now can't bear to do either given nausea! Don't even like coffee any more!
Watching everyone get tiddly on Zoom calls and I'm just over here in the corner, clutching my water... Little pity party for one...!!

calimommy · 14/04/2020 17:39

@Amymone Cali is a big drinking place, people see it as a right to drink whenever and wherever 😂 I'm ABSOLUTELY missing my 4pm gin. However I'm also so nauseated that I dont mind too much. I am also a tiny bit happy I can't drink because I think this lock down would have made me an alcoholic 😂😂😂 having said that I am absofuckinglutely ready to leave the house. I'm planning to book us into a hotel as soon as it's fully lifted. Maybe burn the house down. I'll see how I feel at the time.

jeleigh · 14/04/2020 17:56

@Chuckem15 I’m vegetarian and I’ve gone off everything which is a meat replacement, as well as basically all vegetables so I haven’t been left with a lot of choice 😂
I’m also craving meat probably because I’ve barely had any protein for weeks now. I gave in and I’ve had meat twice in a takeaway, it actually made me feel a lot better which was annoying!

Pink15 · 14/04/2020 18:01

I've just had a chicken and mushroom pie... well I ate the pastry from the top and that was it 🤢

seventhrow · 14/04/2020 18:08

@Amymone YES. COMPLETELY. Basically everything that I would do to normally cheer myself has been taken away either by pregnancy or lockdown. My birthday was on Thursday and all my colleagues were saying "at least you can drink loads of champagne", and I'm all "Yeah, thank God! [sob sob sob]".

My fun activities are reduced to baths, reading books and going outside to see how the roses are coming along. That's all very well for a weekend, but not for months! We moved into our house in December and all the work we had lined up has been cancelled. I got so frustrated with the picture rail in the living room last week that I tried to take it off myself and now there's a hole in the wall. I can't repair it because the DIY shops are all sold out and we don't have a car for click and collect.

(realise there might be a man with a tiny violin playing somewhere as I write this)

FlashesOfRage · 14/04/2020 18:14

@Fouryearslater

I’m so mad that you are not getting the support you need from your GP ☹️

You should not have to suffer like this and there are safe treatments available.
First line safe meds are;
Cyclizine,
Promethezine,
Prochlorperazine.

If those don’t work you can be tried on;
Metaclopramide,
Domperidone

And if you have hyperemesis and are losing weight, unable to rehydrate orally, you may need IV fluids at hospital and Ondansetron to treat it.

Are you still peeing? What sort of colour is it if you aren’t peeing much? X

SqidgeBum · 14/04/2020 18:20

I hate nearly all food except pasta, toast, boiled egg, potato, basic boiled veg, and chicken nuggets. Even the thought of everything else makes me feel a bit sick. I do try to eat more, but I mostly dont enjoy any food. I have an aversion to my fridge, my cupboards, everything. We are huge food lovers in our house, and hubbie is a great cook, but I dont enjoy any of it. He put parmesan on my pasta tonight and I nearly vomited. Breakfast is my worst time every day. Nothing makes me feel nice. I have to read the cereal box to distract myself. However, sweets are something I am not hating, which is odd for me as I have never had a thing for sweets. Sucking on hard boiled sweets have helped a lot, and I eat chewy sweets in the evening. I just want to go back to enjoying food!!

Hancock2020 · 14/04/2020 18:20

Dont know if it's because I'm older this time, but I dont remember pregnancy being this crap 🤢
