Carrying on our discussion and hopefully having less of the nausea, morning sickness and sore boobs as the thread progresses!

@Ranoutofgoodnames I also have no morning sickness. I spoke to my mum and she didn’t have any with any of us either. So maybe we are part of the lucky 25% Smile

bluebell94 · 28/03/2020 12:39

@Ranoutofgoodnames none for me either. Had the occasional wave of nausea last week but nothing recently. My mam said she never had it with me or my siblings, I'm trying not to worry! X

Ranoutofgoodnames · 28/03/2020 12:51

Thank you for responses!!

It’s such a strange time isn’t it. I have my booking in appointment next week - don’t think I have a scan then. Have the harmony test scheduled privately (I am 40 so decided I wanted to) but need to balance that with essential journeys only...

And then googling everything I feel in my body to make sure it is “normal”...

Also have a really badly congested nose. Anyone else have that? Haven’t been anywhere for nearly two weeks now so can’t be a cold. Googled this ( 🙄 ) and apparently this does happen sometimes in pregnancy...

Hi ladies. Hope it’s ok to join this thread. I’m 6+3 according to my LMP although I think I’m probably more likely to be around 5 weeks cos my cycles were quite long/variable.

I feel dizzy/lightheaded, my boobs are a bit sore, I feel constantly queasy and I’m waking up between 5 and 6am everyday and can’t get back to sleep!!

I work in a GP surgery and am still seeing patients so I’m a little anxious. I haven’t told work yet as I feel it’s way too early but I think I might have to tell them as there was talk of us staffing community coronavirus clinics which I’m not really happy to do. I’m waiting for union advice about this although I don’t think anyone can tell me what to do for the best in this situation.

Lovely to find this thread! I haven’t read all comments as there are so many but I have read a few pages!! Sending love to you all

Sakura54 · 28/03/2020 13:01

Yes! I’m also all clogged up. My nose is kinda blocked/runny and when I lie down, I cough which disturbs my sleep! Found out it’s post nasal drip and can be another pregnancy symptom (as if I wasn’t already suffering enough).

Usually when I visit my in-laws, I get a bit sick due to a kid there always being sick and because they are smokers, but I never get a cough.

littlegem84 · 28/03/2020 13:06

@Ranoutofgoodnames - here! I had really bad pregnancy rhinosinositus (basically pregnancy hay fever) with both pregnancies!

Hancock2020 · 28/03/2020 13:13

I'm finding my sinuses are really sore and when I blow my nose its usually blood coming out.

Also I'm thinking about having a scan done at 8 weeks, but will I actually be able to see anything? Will it be worth it? Any body with any experience of an 8 week scan

HarrietM87 · 28/03/2020 13:22

@Hancock2020 8 weeks is a good time to have a scan - there will be something baby shaped with a heartbeat! I had one at 6 weeks exactly and it was a little blob with a flickering heart. Have another at 8+1.

Fouryearslater · 28/03/2020 13:25

@TangBloodyFastic yes, I do. But Our mattress needs replacing (and I’ve just been raking the garden!)

Ranoutofgoodnames · 28/03/2020 13:32

@Hancock2020 I had a scan at 6 weeks something and saw a heart beat so I would do it again. Problem is though if your dates are actually earlier than you think it can be stressful and you may have to wait for a while to have another scan and that waiting period will be challenging

Here’s to the nasal congestion! It comes and goes but as I don’t have morning sickness I am kind of pleased to have something that makes me feel pregnant.

I hope everyone is ok and not too stressed about cv and scans alone etc - I have read other threads and concluded that what will be will be but it is still not the beginning to my pregnancy I thought it would be and although I know it is all for the best I still want to let myself feel sad for losing the first few months in this way and then I think I will come out the other side and feel more resolved to meet it all head on xx

Natopp · 28/03/2020 13:34

@Hancock2020 yes I've had rapid weight gain. Twins runs in DH family, skipped his brother so might be our turn!! I definitely have the hips for two 😂😂

Natopp · 28/03/2020 13:41

@BeMorePacific just read your post about a cheese and pickle sandwich and now I must eat one... But we have NO pickle..... Need to send husband out Now WinkGrin

Hancock2020 · 28/03/2020 14:02

@HarrietM87 good to know I'll see a baby shape. I just want to know that everything is ok, seeing as with everything that's going on midwives are being more hands off, I've had my booking in appointment but still haven't heard when I'll get to meet / speak to my midwife yet 😕 and even then it will probably be over the phone, so for me that's not really reassurance 🤷‍♀️

BeMorePacific · 28/03/2020 14:15

Sorry @Natopp. If it helps reading your message has made me want one too... I just really can’t be bothered to move xxx

Anon87 · 28/03/2020 14:28

@Hancock2020 I had a scan yesterday after my little worry. A definite blob and a heartbeat going like the clappers that's at 7+5 x

AnxiousLady1 · 28/03/2020 14:35

@Anon87 That's great news!!

HarrietM87 · 28/03/2020 14:41

@Natopp twins only run in the maternal line so your DH‘s family has no impact on your chances (his sperm can’t make you release more than one egg, and identical twins are totally random).

Natopp · 28/03/2020 14:45

@harrietM87 ah OK, thanks for the information.

HarrietM87 · 28/03/2020 15:09

@Natopp my brother and sister are twins so I’ve done a lot of research into it! Only one baby in there for me though.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 28/03/2020 15:54

I've just booked my Harmony Test for a few days after I should be 10 weeks. Pretty steep but I think with all the delays etc with the nhs will be worth it.

AnxiousLady1 · 28/03/2020 16:33

Is the Harmony Test better than the screening done by the NHS? They seem to screen for the same things, but I can't work out why it is better? Well - it claims to be more thorough on a site I just looked at.

burntpinky · 28/03/2020 16:38

@AnxiousLady1 I believe so - I hear it’s a lot more accurate and it saves anxiety! My friend had the normal screening and it said she was high risk for downs then she had a very anxious 2 week wait whilst she got the harmony done and results back. Because of my age I decided to cut out the middle man and go straight for it (though I had Iona instead just cuz that’s what was available in my area) and because I got low risk for all trisomies (obv with our 18 month old, not this baby) they didn’t do the standard test as they said Iona was more accurate. We also found out the sex from it

ParisInTheSpringtime · 28/03/2020 16:56

@AnxiousLady1 it is more accurate, and it was recommended to me as I am a bit older. Also, I want to avoid relying on the nhs as much as possible.

bluebell94 · 28/03/2020 16:59

Struggling today, just feeling so bored and deflated. Don't even know what I'd do if we were allowed out the house but the fact we're not is driving me crazy. Just want all this over and a bit of normality Sad can't wait for my scan next Friday, that's what's keeping me going at the minute as I just want to see a little heartbeat and know good things are happening but time is going sooo slowly. Not sure what's up with me today! Hardly moved all day, just so exhausted from doing nothing. Going to take doggy out and try clear my head 🐶

Fe333 · 28/03/2020 17:11

Hey first time on mums net and first time commenting... Im due on 7th of Nov with first child. All this corona virus thing is overwhelming particularly for first timers I think. Im am worried about going into hospital for blood tests and first scan etc... it feels unsafe but I suppose they are keeping it extra clean and taking extra precautions. Annoying part of it all is not being able to eat what you crave sometimes coz either it isn't available or not worth risking the trip to the shops! mehh!!
