Carrying on our discussion and hopefully having less of the nausea, morning sickness and sore boobs as the thread progresses!

For the past 3 days bang on 6:30am I've felt sick but not actually been sick yet. Only seems to last an hour or so. I'm on nightshift this week so wonder what time of day I'll feel sick next week when my body clock returns to normal 🤔 yesterday morning I was driving home from work retching with my eyes streaming, stopped at traffic lights and thought god I hope no one looks at me 🤣

Natopp · 19/03/2020 06:27

My DH was in close contact with someone who has fallen ill with coronavirus symptoms and has been quarantined as a result. They are now beginning to quarantine other colleagues who may have been interacting with him. It is terrifying. We are staying away from our parents this weekend and will miss mother's day, like most people.
It's not the way I imagine my pregnancy to go, as I'm sure you're all in the same boat, too. We will get through this together and support each other. I hope you all have a good day and stay off the news as it is going to drive us mad and we need to relax as much as possible. Xx

bluebell94 · 19/03/2020 06:53

@Natopp it really is frightening, I hope you all stay well. The company I work for are closing for a couple of weeks (nurse in non-essential private setting) and I'm desperately hoping I can just take that time off to try and relax a little, I'm scared I'll be asked to work frontline to help - if I wasn't pregnant I'd be there in a heartbeat but this just makes everything scarier and more difficult xx

Morning all
Re: first app with midwife is it anytime before 10wks?
I was thinking of booking an appt at about the 8wks mark or should it be earlier?

sundaym · 19/03/2020 07:31

Hi ladies, I’m a first timer on the forum and newbie to pregnancy... and terrified! It was unexpected and I feel way out of my depth at the moment! I work out myself to be 6+6. I found out on sunday morning and haven’t stopped googling since. I called my Dr’s and they have booked me in for april 6, what will happen at this appointment? Should I book an early scan for before that/the same week?! Also I need to learn all these acronyms being thrown around it’s like a secret language lol! TIA

canueve · 19/03/2020 07:38

@Luckyhuman2020 hey there, big congratulations! Nov 21 is my dad's bday!

We also ttc for 2 years and when we least expected it happened. I went to my 1st IVF appt on a Friday and on Sunday I decided to do the test just for peace of mind and it was a shock to see the BFP.

Cannot wait for the next week to go by as fast as possible as scan + midwife appt and i just want to make sure the baby is ok and in the right place. I'll be able to relax a lot more.

sundaym · 19/03/2020 07:40

Good start, I meant 5+6 in my first post!

wannabebump · 19/03/2020 08:20

Welcome @sundaym, congrats! X

Sakura54 · 19/03/2020 08:38

Looks like a few of us are in a similar position. DH and Dsis work together...their colleague suddenly got very sick the other day (fever, cough, chills, ache) so who knows who else has caught it. They can’t even WFH. I’m more concerned about my dad than myself though...

On another note, the puking has begun :( nausea and retching was bad enough as it is.

SqidgeBum · 19/03/2020 08:46

I must say I am finding this self isolation and coronavirus thing very hard. Maybe it's because I feel quite sick already with MS, but I am hating being at home. DD is constantly moaning and screaming for attention. All I can think is 'this will be my life when the baby is born'. I will be alone with 2 kids and it will be chaos. Not to mention we have no idea if DH will even have a job after all of this, and I have to quit my job before Mat leave so I will only get state pay. I couldn't sleep last night with the things running around my head. Anyone finding the same, that this coronavirus has just messed you up big time? I am usually very able to handle whatever is in front of me, and I have managed through hard living situations, but bringing a baby into this, and managing it alone (I have no family around) is freaking me out.

canueve · 19/03/2020 08:48

@TangBloodyFastic yes, but I am not sure you have a choice with NHS? They just gave me a date, I'll be 9 weeks then.

@sundaym hi Sunday, congrats and welcome. Mumsnet shows what the acronyms mean which helped me a lot when I first got here as I couldn't understand anything Smile.
I've booked a private reassurance scan for 8+4 because my appt with the midwife will be a talk + blood tests and only then she will book my scan which from what I read happens between 10 and 12 weeks. I am sure the mamas in the thread might be more helpful, as this will hopefully be my first.

private scans are recommended after 8 weeks, the clinic advised me not to book before it.

Whatatimetoseealine · 19/03/2020 08:55

Hello! 🤗 can I join? Just found out I'm four weeks. I know it's still early days but due date would be end of Nov.

I'm trying to be pragmatic about the coronavirus situation and we'll just take every precaution but I feel extra worried as our beautiful toddler DD has some congenital anomalies that happened for an unknown reason early in first trimester. So I'm extra terrified of a fever etc!

Also worried that if her surgery ends up being earlier than we think that it would be really difficult as siblings understandably not allowed in hospitals at the moment. I don't know what I'd do with a newborn too but DD1 would be our priority emotionally as she'll need me there, I would just have to hope someone can help me with the new baby if it comes to it and I'll pump.

As it stands though obviously surgery is more likely to be delayed than brought forwards.

sundaym · 19/03/2020 09:52

@canueve Thanks so much. I will look into booking a private scan around 8 weeks. Congrats to you too :)

I know it has briefly been discussed, but I am also concerned about having to tell my employer earlier than I would like too, due to the corona outbreak! I am working from home mostly now but expected to go in sometimes which is making me a little on edge. Weighing up speaking to my boss honestly or making up every excuse under the sun to not have to go into the office!

SqidgeBum · 19/03/2020 10:43

@sundaym I just told mine the other day. I am only 6+5. But in these times things are different and sometimes it just needs to be done.

Natopp · 19/03/2020 11:01

@sundaym I've told my employer and she was great about it. These are really difficult times and I felt like I couldn't focus or look after myself if my boss who I see daily wasn't aware what I was going through. She appreciated me telling her and will provide support to help me.
Tell yours today and then it's done and you can move on xx

Bluebell2020 · 19/03/2020 11:44

Hi Everyone,

Hope it's ok to join. I think I'm 5 weeks today. Very new to all this. First pregnancy and very anxious that something will go wrong. Had to tell work way earlier than I wanted to. Is it worth getting an early private scan at around 8 weeks? I didn't want to tell people this early but looks like people will find out with the 12 week social distancing recommendation. Thinking a private scan might put my mind at ease if everything does look ok?

inahaze · 19/03/2020 11:51

I've had some spotting this morning, dark brown, is this normal? :(

Wise0wl · 19/03/2020 11:53

Hello @Bluebell2020 - I'm in a similar position and also tempted by a private scan at 8 weeks. My booking in appt isn't until 9+5, which feels ages away.

And @inahaze I've had spotting for my last few cycles including brown spotting since I got my BFP, I've done quite a lot of Googling and it seems that as long as it's brown it seems to be ok. I hope you're doing ok.

canueve · 19/03/2020 11:55

@Bluebell2020 welcome and congrats.

I did book one, don't think I can cope with waiting for the 10-12 week NHS scan. Mine will be in 10 days time, when I am over 8 weeks.

inahaze · 19/03/2020 11:58

Thanks wiseowl x so scary when it happens

Really should phone the midwife for my booking in. I feel guilty as I'm sure they are swamped

AnxiousLady1 · 19/03/2020 12:00

@inahaze I had the same Monday, and a few others on this group have also mentioned spotting. Dark brown also, which usually indiacates old blood. I gather it is particular common at this point in the pregnancy and not soemthing to worry about. If it gets heavier, changes colour, or you get bad cramping also, then call your midwife.

inahaze · 19/03/2020 12:04

Thanks @anxiouslady1

Mummy1998 · 19/03/2020 12:15

Sorry ladies hope you’s don’t mind me joining. I need some help. Period is due in 2 days but was having very obvious pregnancy symptoms- metallic taste, heartburn, sore boobs etc etc. I decided to take a test and it’s a very strong positive. I’ll attach pic. I’m just unsure how it’s so strong so early ? I mean I haven’t even missed my period yet it’s due in 2 days.

Wise0wl · 19/03/2020 12:16

@inahaze I also felt guilty for bothering them but they were lovely - I originally did my self-referral online but didn't hear for a week and then they called me yesterday and were great!

AnxiousLady1 · 19/03/2020 12:25

@Mummy1998 Some tests will give you a positive 6 days before your period is due. Ultimately, once implantation occurs (I think 6-14 days after ovulation), your HCG levels start rising, and that is what the pregnancy test looks at in your urine.
