Ladies can I ask about exercising? When I was pregnant last year with DD I didn't much exercise except a bit of yoga and swimming. I hadn't done any exercise for a good few months before falling pregnant.

But for the last couple of months I have been doing quite a bit of cardio including spinning, body combat, pump etc... I found focusing on getting fit and healthy really helped give me a focus and did a lot for my sleep and mental health. But I'm nervous about doing anything too strenuous now I have a BFP. I think the advice is that if you are used to doing certain exercises before, it's ok to keep doing it during early pregnancy? I wondered what everyone else has been doing?

unh111 · 03/03/2020 09:42

Hi all, hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m 6 weeks 6 days today after miscarriage last year. I was supposed to start IVF then found out I was pregnant!
@Knotemma and @Rachael321, I also planned to go to work today. However, continue to feel just awful. Didn’t make the bathroom and vomited on my bedroom wall 🤢 Sorry I know tmi! This sickness is just relentless! I keep googling when it is expected to end 🙈! I hope you both feel better soon xxx

Ibaadsmummy · 03/03/2020 10:19

Just done my second blood test feel worried that they will say levels didnt rise.... everyday is full of nerves..

SunStruck · 03/03/2020 10:33

@shefliesonherownwings welcome to the thread 🤗 I'm so sorry to hear about what's happened to you, no one deserves that ❤️ in regards to exercise, I have always gone to the gym about 5-6 days a week, 3 weight sessions and 2 cardio sessions. I used to love spinning and HIIT type of cardio, but when I fell pregnant this time I've only used the crosstrainer or powerwalked on the treadmill with incline. I'm trying to keep my heart rate to medium level, and spinning used to take me to max. I'm still doing weights 3 times a week but heavily modified - I use kettlebells a lot and lighter than I'm used to. It's not a time to improve your fitness but to maintain is what I've heard. No abs exercise apart from planks.

@Ibaadsmummy @unh111 welcome to this thread! Exciting with BFP:s, but a worrying time I know. Fingers crossed blood test goes well @Ibaadsmummy and that you'll feel better soon @unh111

@hagster congrats to your scan! 🥰

@knotemma @Rachael321 sorry you're feeling so sick. I'm feeling horrendous too, I'm sitting at work just wanting to cry because I feel so bad! I'm so jealous you can get time off, we can't here. Also completely exhausted, I really hope this will pass in a week or two 😔😔

@avocuddles hey twinny, how are you holding up? Only 2 weeks left for us... if I didn't feel so bad I'd feel slightly excited! I have my 10 week scan today, wish me luck!

Knotemma · 03/03/2020 10:34

@Rachael321 @unh111
Sorry that you both aren't feeling well. Ive managed to have some toast this morning. Not sure if I maybe need to up my carbs at tea time and maybe have something straight before bed to try to settle through the night, but then I end up just feeling and being sick at bedtime 🙈. I got on the scales last night, just because I'm hugely bloated, so can't use any of the usual indicators of whether Ive lost any weight and luckily I'm only a pound less than my pre pregnancy weight, which has reassured me a bit (not sure why lol, it just did) I'm just frustrated. I managed to clean my bathroom yesterday and I felt so much better for achieving something, but maybe I did too much.

@Shefliesonherownwings you can absolutely keep exercising while your pregnant, I've just read a statistic that women who exercise in pregnancy are less likely to have complications. Listen to your body, because early on you'll tire quicker and might get light headed. If you're doing classes and you're comfortable with the instructor maybe let them know you're pregnant? ( I told my aerial instructors, but I'm quite close to all of them. Ive only managed 1 class in the last 4 weeks because I've been so I'll, but I felt awesome for doing it, I just did a bit less than usual).

@Ibaadsmummy I hope that your tests have gone well, the waiting is awful but I have everything crossed for you. Try to remember that it's a new pregnancy and the odds are in your favour, I know that's easier said than done.

Knotemma · 03/03/2020 10:36

@SunStruckgood luck for your scan today, I've got everything crossed for a wriggly jumping bean xx

Shefliesonherownwings · 03/03/2020 10:43

Thank you all, I just wanted to double check. I just finished a set of personal training sessions with a guy who was super lovely and very sensitive to what happened last year. He really helped improve my fitness and get my enjoying working out so I think I will speak to him in a couple of weeks if everything is ok and sign up for some more sessions with him. For now I'm going to stick to swimming and aqua aerobics and walking I think.

@SunStruckgood best of luck with your scan today. X

SammiLou2312 · 03/03/2020 11:15

@shefliesonherownwings if you are in doubt it would be worth checking with your midwife...I was advised against exercising at the gym when I spoke to my midwife due to the number of early miscarriages I have had and due to my blood pressure (it's rather low) so I had to cancel my gym subscription

Sunflower1608 · 03/03/2020 11:41

@Knotemma I feel your pain. I was starting to feel good. But last few days have been awful. Threw my guts up this morning on the school run. Can't tell the difference between my morning sickness nausea or indigestion nausea (despite glugging bottles of gaviscon). All my previous pregnancies it had finished by now. It's really getting me down feeling so exhausted, and so I'll all the time. Combined with running around after 3 kids feeling a little overwhelmed. But then I feel so guilty for feeling miserable as I'm so grateful to be pregnant

Sunflower1608 · 03/03/2020 11:46

@Shefliesonherownwings the advise I was always given was to continue what you have been doing but at a lower intensity. I was doing CrossFit 4x a week and running 3x. I lost the motivation to run but am walking everyday with my dogs a couple of miles. I spoke to my coaches about being pregnant and they're really knowledgeable. The general advise is to not do any exercises lying on your back 2nd trimester onwards. No impact sports where you may sustain an injury. And be careful of not overheating, adequate hydration and be aware that all your ligmanets are looser so may be more susceptible to injuries. My coaches have encouraged me to go lighter and change certain exercises around. Go at an intensity where you can still chat without being to out of breath. I'm currently on 2weeks rest following a bleed to allow it to heal. But they've said I can carry on carefully following

SunStruck · 03/03/2020 13:22

All went well on the scan today thank a God 😅😅😅 The pea was waving at us and looked so cute! Also measuring ahead now
At 10+4 (supposed to be 10). Have Harmony test booked in for next week too. Feel so relieved!!!

Littlegoth · 03/03/2020 13:49

@SunStruck how lovely! X

Knotemma · 03/03/2020 13:55

@SunStruck thats great news! So pleased you've had a positive scan and hope it's helped ease your mind a bit more.

SammiLou2312 · 03/03/2020 14:04

@SunStruck brilliant news. Thanks for sharing the scan pic x

SunStruck · 03/03/2020 15:20

Thanks ladies! 🥰 I'm so much more relieved now. The Dr said the chance for miscarrying after you see a heartbeat at 10 weeks is really, really small. Now I know this could definitely be a possibility, but since I've had 2 already I'm just hoping we can't be that unlucky again!!!

Rachael321 · 03/03/2020 15:30

Been to the doctors today, new anti sickness meds and a gaviscon like thing for inbetween them! And signed off work for another week!
@unh111 I know the feeling of not quite making it there, and then you need to clean it up which is the worst!!

Avocuddles · 03/03/2020 15:55

@SunStruck so glad your scan went well and that you're feeling more relieved. It's a lot bigger than a pea now!!!
Do you have a date for your next scan lined up?

@Rachael321 I hope the new meds and some rest do the trick. I feel very sorry for you, @unh111 and @Knotemma as you all seem to be having a really rough time. I hope things ease off for all of you and the later stages of your pregnancies are nice and settled to make up for the awful symptoms you're experiencing now! I'm still feeling nauseous at times though I've never been physically sick and it's usually relieved by eating something unhealthy. I lost weight in the first 8 weeks but dread to think what the past couple of weeks have done to me!

@Ibaadsmummy I hope your blood tests results are positive and give you some reassurance. Keep us posted....

@Shefliesonherownwings it's great that you've been enjoying exercising. I had just started a big health kick when I got my BFP but as I'm out of practice when it comes to exercise I'm feeling far too scared to do anything other than walk. As others have said unless you have any contraindications there's no reason why keeping it up won't be great for you both physically and mentally.

Speaking of being too scared to do anything, is anyone regularly DTD or is it off the table for most of us? I'd like to but DH is far, far too scared. My first miscarriage started with spotting not long after we had sex so in his mind he's terrified that it would be risky, even though the second miscarriage occurred at a similar without having been anywhere near the bedroom so to speak! I imagine his attitude might change later on but for now it's a no go.....

Hey all
Had my blood work back and hcg was 1800
She said it's all good and positive.
I'm not clued up on this hcg so is that normal? Bloods were taken at (5+2)
I'm 6 weeks tomorrow but didn't get a positive test until 9 days late!
I'm feeling positive and excited.
I got my positive on the day my baby boy Alvie would have been due 😫❤️ I believe it's a gift from him.

Third time lucky 🙏🏼
Xxx

Littlegoth · 03/03/2020 16:38

@Avocuddles it’s the same for us, we both want to but far too scared! Maybe after a few more positive scans. Realistically we know it’s the blood clotting issue that is most likely to blame for the miscarriages but the fear of ‘what if’ is well and truly there x

Rachael321 · 03/03/2020 16:58

@Avocuddles same here! First mc started with spotting after sex. Think we have only DTD once since we found out, both too scared but think its him more than me. Granted feeling the way I have been for the last month hasn't helped! Cant remeber the last time we had proper kiss never mind anything else!

Aria2015 · 03/03/2020 20:28

@SunStruck congratulations on your scan! Lovely news.

@Avocuddles I haven't dtd with dh since my bfp. After the first two mc's I felt too nervous so every time I've been pregnant since I've abstained. With my one successful pregnancy we resumed things after my 12 week scan. If I get that far with this pregnancy I'll probably do the same. I'm not really much in the mood anyway because I tend to feel the most nauseous in the evenings!

Knotemma · 03/03/2020 20:59

@Avocuddles we've managed a few times during recent breaks in nausea and sickness, but not regularly, mostly because I haven't been feeling well enough. For me I think that's it's important to remember that you can still be intimate and enjoy each other without that having to necessarily lead to penetrative sex... I'm trying to be objective and grown up and typing that made me cringe 🙈. But you can still have lots of fun without going all the way. And it might help alleviate some of the stress of both of you 😉.

Ibaadsmummy · 03/03/2020 21:47

@Avocuddles thanks they called today with sundays blood results to say that yes I am defo pregnant again which I knew lol😂..she said hcg level 507 which is good for 4 weeks so as long as todays test shows positive increase if its doubled in 2 days I'd be in the thoutheneds I'm good for now and they will book another scan for 2 weeks to see if its progressing. Just one stressful wait after another 😂😂😅

SunStruck · 04/03/2020 04:31

@Avocuddles not yet, we have this Harmony test for next week and then they will book the NT Adam which should be around 13 weeks. So long without a scan!! 😱 when is your next scan?

@Aria2015 thank you... such a relief for now 😄

SunStruck · 04/03/2020 04:32

Sorry forgot to ask @Avocuddles when is your next scan? When is everyone else's scan to look forward to??
