Welcome new joiners and congrats! I’m 5+1 today, anyone else?

Only 6 days now until my early scan. Symptoms have been coming and going - just a bit of cramping, mild nausea and sore boobs so far. Keep swaying between feeling like the pregnancy is doomed to really hopeful!

canueve · 12/03/2020 10:51

Welcome everyone!

@Sacho same here, first pregnancy and very excited.

@HarrietM87 I'm 5+5 today and will do a scan at 8 weeks, though I'll pay for it, as I am not sure when I'll have on on the NHS. got my first appt for 03/04.
I am on the same boat, I am super hopeful but I tiny bit scared and anxious to get to 12 weeks asap.

onetime10 · 12/03/2020 11:08

Hi @Happymama24 my last af was 12th February usually 29/30 day cycle. Doctor couldn't confirm me as her test was negative so I've to rebook for the end of the month! X

Hi @NoseringGirl no history of twins but I'm hoping I'm not the first 😂 x

BeMorePacific · 12/03/2020 11:50

Has anyone been having fainter pregnancy tests. My 1st test was a really strong line, 2nd test the same, 3rd test lighter. All taken on different days, but same brand of test.
Concerned I am having a missed miscarriage. I’m 5+6 xx

Hufflepuff1 · 12/03/2020 11:53

Hi 👋 got my bfp last week following a ivf cycle. All going well should be due 8th November 🤞🤞💜

@HarrietM87 sorry can I just ask as I read the last few pages and saw your comments re thyroid level. So I've got an underactive thyroid and my levels before I got pregnant were 0.09, I saw your post yesterday and went to the docs today who has arranged a blood test for next week but has said to continue with normal dose. He didn't seem clued up on it as much as my normal GP, should I increase by 50mcg every two days in the meantime? He said that it won't have affected it by that much but that's not the case as I just re read your figures in your post. Confused at what to do, this is a long awaited baby who we've been through a lot already for. X

SMcG1 · 12/03/2020 12:55

Has everyone told their work? I wasn’t planning on telling anyone until my 12 week scan. This is my 1st so I’m not 100% sure what I’m supposed to be doing.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 12/03/2020 13:11

@smcg1 you don’t have to tell them until 15 weeks before the due date. I will be leaving it as late as possible as I suspect there are people in my team who will not be very supportive.

I did a digital test yesterday, which said 3+ (as it should) but I can’t shake off the worry as still no symptoms, aside from very light and very irregular cramps. Only a few days until my private scan, so just need to wait and see.

ACatCalledLola · 12/03/2020 13:22

Congratulations on all the new bfps!
I’m also swinging between feelings of doom and hope. Still very stressed about my thyroid results but hopefully I’ll get some answers next week. There’s nothing I can do at the moment so I’m trying to put that to the back of my mind. I have sore boobs and on/off nausea. The nausea isn’t too bad at the moment which is worrying me but my boobs are very sore today so I’m taking that as a sign that things are progressing.
@BeMorePacific how much lighter have they got? How many days apart? Have you been drinking more? My first test was darker than the one I took two days later (same brand) but then the one in the EPU later that day was as dark as the control line. I haven’t taken any tests since because I’m scared to! The nurse did say that tests can vary so fingers crossed it’s just that for you.

Wise0wl · 12/03/2020 13:33

@ParisInTheSpringtime a question about digital tests, am I right in thinking that they calculate from the date of conception (not the first date of your last period)? I did a CB this morning and it said 1-2 weeks (but first day of my LMP was 8th Feb)

ParisInTheSpringtime · 12/03/2020 13:35

@wise0wl it’s from conception so add 2 weeks

Wise0wl · 12/03/2020 13:40

Great, thanks @ParisInTheSpringtime - that's what I thought but wasn't totally sure!

BeMorePacific · 12/03/2020 13:51

@ACatCalledLola They were a day apart. I have been drinking loads. Because I have a cough and cold so trying to help shift it. I guess that could impact my urine.
Thanks so much for replying ♥️ Xx

FireflyGirl · 12/03/2020 14:00

@BeMorePacific are you taking the tests at the same time of day/after holding for the same amount of time/using the same brand? It could be sometimes your urine has been more dilute.

How strong are your lines? Can you post a picture of all of the tests?

SMcG1 · 12/03/2020 14:14

@ParisInTheSpringtime the only reason I was thinking about telling them is because I work in a hospital and with everything that’s going on just now I don’t want to be putting myself at risk. I had symptoms last week but they seem to have eased off now. Still feeling a bit nauseous when I first wake up but otherwise I feel fine. I don’t have my first appointment until 3/4 which seems so long away! Have you booked your first appointment yet?

ParisInTheSpringtime · 12/03/2020 14:28

@smcg1 my first appointment isn’t until start of April as I’m (meant to be) going abroad for a few weeks. Will see if that actually happens!

Sakura54 · 12/03/2020 14:47

@Devias no, don’t worry, its mainly the elderly and the sick that may die. I’m not worried really, just a bit concerned, because don’t want to catch it whilst pregnant...I’m already suffering from my symptoms without adding corona into the mix! Doesn’t help that I’m from London.

Sakura54 · 12/03/2020 14:59

@ParisInTheSpringtime I bet you’re just one of the lucky ones, who get no symptoms. What I would give to have easy pregnancies instead of feeling like crap and having issues for 9 months lol. Yesterday my cramps returned and my stomach feels hard, so deffo uterus growing. Deffo keep us posted after your scan.

Devias · 12/03/2020 15:09

@Sakura54 I am also from London and work in Victoria, one by one my colleagues are asked to stay home hence me being nervous! The research is so little, who knows what the virus may do to our little ones?

Sakura54 · 12/03/2020 15:16

Apparently there is no affect on the babies..but I wouldn’t want to find that out for myself! That’s good, so you will probably be able to stay home too given your circumstance?

HarrietM87 · 12/03/2020 15:22

@Hufflepuff1 you should increase your own dose by 25-50mcg as soon as you find out you are pregnant - see the guidance here:

www.btf-thyroid.org/pregnancy-and-thyroid-disorders-guidance-for-patients

It certainly does impact it and the impact is greatest in the first trimester before the baby can make its own thyroid hormones. Not to frighten you but it does increase miscarriage risk so it’s very important you address this quickly. In my first pregnanact I started at 150 and only had to increase to 175mcg per day for the rest of the pregnancy. But in this pregnancy I’d already increased to 175 and it wasn’t enough so I’m now on 200.

GPs are useless on this stuff so you need to take responsibility for it yourself and tell them what to do. Let me know if you have any questions!

AnxiousLady1 · 12/03/2020 16:44

@HarrietM87 I'm 5+6 and I'm similar to you with the symptoms coming and going. Boobs are a little tender, but it comes and goes. I've never been particularly well endowed in that department so maybe that plays a part in how sensitive/heavy they will feel at this stage! Grin Had the start of mild nausea yesterday and found that weirdly reassuring. My appetite is definitely changing - I am hungry a lot but equally struggling to eat in the mornings (which I don't normally have a problem with). I went to yoga last night and thought I was going to be sick throughout most of the class - not ideal. I had cramps last week but they seem to have passed and I don't have any bloated feeling or anything like last time. But might be a bit early. Obviously wary of the symptoms seeming really mild, as I had a previous MMC, but equally trying to remind myself that I continued to have symptoms despite that happening. So I just have to roll with it. Will do a scan around the 7-8 week mark.

NoseringGirl · 12/03/2020 16:53

I'm another one that has symptoms that go up and down. I've already got two kids so you'd think I'd know what was normal but it seems to be so different every time and I can't remember what happened at each point in pregnancy. I know I didn't have any nausea until around 6-7 weeks with my first. It started really early this time though and has varied a lot in severity!

Hannah1996 · 12/03/2020 18:34

Hi everyone! So I’m so new to this, literally found out I was pregnant this morning, I’m so scared/happy/excited so many mixed feelings! This is a world of unknown for me! I worked out I should be due mid November! I know I’m still so early and I haven’t told anyone yet other than my partner!

Anon87 · 12/03/2020 18:36

@SMcG1 I told my boss 2 or 3 days after I got my BFP (9dpo) as we have a friendship too and he'll not ask me to be moving big ass TV's.

I've now let the other staff know emphasising that it's not for public/customer knowledge but so I don't look like a lazy witch when I'm barking orders at the others to move bulky/heavy stuff or climb ladders.

I've got a really good support network in there because we're a small team so had no fear.

Wise0wl · 12/03/2020 19:09

@SMcG1 I’m a bit nervous about telling work too early because I’m in line for a pay review sometime in the next three months and I’d really like to get a pay rise before telling them!

Welcome @Hannah1996 and congratulations! I’m also due mid-Nov by my calculations
