@anxiouslady1 I haven’t yet but be reassured it’s quite normal at this time as it’s probably implantation bleeding. Keep an eye on it and if it gets any worse, maybe give the midwife a callxx

overandoverafail · 16/03/2020 08:32

Our LA also makes us do a self referral to midwives. It's all completely different to when i had our last dc 5 years ago. Feels like this is the first time I have done any of this Blushreally want to book an early scan after the miscarriage just to confirm there is actually a baby in there! So constipated and bloated it's unbelievable no Ms yet though thankfully!

overandoverafail · 16/03/2020 08:34

Spotting is surprisingly common during pregnancy. Would still definitely recommend calling midwife though to be checked over. From what I was told as long as the spotting isn't accompanied by cramping it should all be ok.

LxGx · 16/03/2020 08:44

@anxiouslady1 i'm 7+1 and have had very light spotting this morning. First baby so i am a bit panicy but have read lots of posts about this being quite common. Think i'll keep an eye and if it gets worse phone GP as my first appointment isn't for another 2 weeks Confused

AnxiousLady1 · 16/03/2020 08:53

@LxGx Yes I'm going to keep an eye on it today I think. If it gets worse I will call EPU. My booking in appointment isn't for another 2 weeks also.

FlashesOfRage · 16/03/2020 09:29

Hi @anxiouslady1 💐

Sorry you’re having spotting it can be quite a shock and scary x

I had a couple of days of very pale brown discharge before suddenly having a bright red bleed at 6+2. I was all doom and gloom because I really don’t think we’re aware enough of how normal it actually can be ❤️ (FTM here x)

I emailed my clinic who asked me to come in for an early scan and found out that it was just a random part of my endometrium having a little burst. No particular reason why and nothing to do with the gestational sacs. As a result I’ve been spotting for the last four days.

My consultant and the nurse who replied by email kept saying it’s often normal and has no bad effects. Their main concerns were to watch out for if there is also severe pain, especially if paracetamol doesn’t make it go away.

I hope you feel better soon and the spotting buggers off! Xx

Whoamieven · 16/03/2020 10:05

Hi all

Just a tip that I've figured out now this is my 4th pregnancy (3rd baby)
For those who are boated and constipated, constipation for me makes my MS so much worse too. I have been taking baby prune purée pouches, 1 a day and they massively have helped!

uisage · 16/03/2020 10:22

@gb88 I rang in my self referral today, the lady on the voicemail message said to not leave a message unless you're 6 weeks. Perhaps they're the same? I would give them a chase up though. I'm hoping mine comes through sooner rather than later, last time it took a few days for them to ring back.

I am trying to get a different early pregnancy scan booked. The only other clinic in the area only does scans out of working hours and that doesn't work for me because I'll have to take a toddler along as DH wants to come too.

I'm going to have to tell my boss tomorrow, there are some interesting work circumstances that mean I'm going to have to let him know. A bit earlier than I'd like, but that's just the way it is.

Spotting is a common pregnancy symptom, if a worrying one.
@LxGx You'd be better trying the midwives, doctors don't want to know about you when you're pregnant. In a more trivial example, during my last pregnancy I had thrush. The doctor and pharmacist wouldn't give me anything because I was pregnant, and the midwife couldn't prescribe me anything because she's not a doctor. Eventually I had to send my sister to buy some for me.

@overandoverafail Lots and lots of water, plus I found eating dried 6 apricots a day helped (much more palatable than prunes, I chopped them up and mixed them with yogurt). I hated pregnancy constipation, it's not one of the ones they tell you about.

FlashesOfRage · 16/03/2020 10:22

@Whoamieven These are the tips we need 🙏 Thanks xxx

wafflewafflewaffle · 16/03/2020 10:55

Congrats on your BFPs to all the new joiners 😊

My nausea has really ramped up a notch over the weekend, I haven’t actually been sick at all but have been feeling really sick and have had a constant headache lately. Anyone else with a toddler struggling to keep up with them at the moment? I just don’t have the energy to play with him like normal, he is loving it in a way though as he’s been getting to watch more tv than usual for the last few days Grin.

Just had a call from the midwife about my booking appointment - they are trying to limit face to face interactions now so I’ve to go in on Wednesday morning just for bloods etc, and then I’ll have longer phone appointment later to do all the booking questions.

Have to admit I’m feeling a little bit worried about coronavirus- it’s reassuring that the official guidance says there doesn’t seem to be any increased risk to pregnant women, but there’s just so little evidence for them to go on. I’d really like to avoid catching it until I’m in the second trimester at least, so I’m planning to ask if I can work from home for the next few weeks (I can easily do my job from home and I think my whole organisation will be asked to work from home at some point anyway, so shouldn’t be a problem!).

EssentialHummus · 16/03/2020 11:02

Hi all, had a scare overnight with bleeding but a very efficient scan this morning and it looks like things are ok, they found baby and heartbeat. I’m still shaking, didn’t sleep at all last night. Sad

It looks like we’ll need a new thread soon, this one is so busy!

EssentialHummus · 16/03/2020 11:04

I’ve quickly made a new thread for when this one is full - don’t want to lose you all!

overandoverafail · 16/03/2020 11:15

Thanks for all the tips! I don't remember any of this from last time! Not sure if it's just rose tinted glasses!

ParisInTheSpringtime · 16/03/2020 11:19

I have my early scan today, so looking forward to seeing if my lack of substantive symptoms means anything. Have been getting a few little cramps on one side but that’s it.

uisage · 16/03/2020 11:22

I am struggling with lack of caffeine at the moment. I'm just drinking 2 cups of 'proper' tea a day, the rest is decaff. I'm hoping that I'll go off it soon anyway. I am having to have a nap at lunch to get through the day.

@wafflewafflewaffle I am currently WFH too (I said that I had a preexisting cough so was going to stay at home to avoid panic). My husband works in a job where he's not around lots of people, the main risk is from nursery! Luckily I haven't got the nausea yet, but every time I pick him up or change his nappy or put him in his cot, I keep thinking about how much harder this is going to be in a few months time! I'm starting to train him to pick things up for me and stand up when I ask him to so I can pick him up more easily.

WildflowerPetals · 16/03/2020 11:23

Hi all!

I’m due 1st November with my first baby, super excited! Although, at the moment, the nausea and fatigue is taking away some of the excitement - I just want to be able to enjoy food again 😩

eleanorsos · 16/03/2020 11:46

@uisage The lack of caffeine is a real killer! Combine that with pregnancy exhaustion and it is a struggle getting through, so resentful of DH's morning coffee haha...

GB88 · 16/03/2020 11:53

@uisage I rang re my self referral and my 12 week appointment is booked on 23rd April Smile feel alot better now i have an appointment - i asked about if i will have any earlier appointments and they said they are all booked up and i will just see them on my 12 week scan and will receive my letter 2 weeks before the appointment. (This is my 1st preg so was kind of hoping to talk to someone before 12 weeks but i'll see how things go)

How far are you, if you let your boss know she/she might be really supportive which will take any pressure/anxiety off you coming into work if there are some things you can't do.

uisage · 16/03/2020 12:01

@WildflowerPetals Congratulations! It is an exciting time. I'm sorry, you might not enjoy food until baby is here. Indigestion/baby squashing your stomach might get in the way until then.

@GB88 Yay! The booking in appointment isn't anything exciting, they just ask you tonnes of questions, test your pee and take your blood (midwives love your pee, never go to the toilet before seeing them). My midwife never really gave me much in the way of advice anyway, just told me not to drink/smoke/exercise. You can find lots of information on the NHS website, plus I love Expecting Better by Emily Ostler. That explains lots of pregnancy choices and the risks behind them, with statistics and studies.

Busybee143 · 16/03/2020 12:39

@AnxiousLady1 @LxGx
I am having spotting too, well more coloured discharge for me what about you guys?
I had an early scan on Saturday and i seem a little behind on dates though im not too worried at the moment.
I think anything is 'normal' at this stage so positive thoughts all round.

LxGx · 16/03/2020 12:47

@Busybee143 mine was very faint just after going to the toilet this morning but seems to have stopped now 🙏🏼 hope your early scan went ok. We booked in for one in 2 1/2 weeks as the scan at the hospital isn't until 27th April which is too long for me to wait lol. Keeping positive Thanks

AnxiousLady1 · 16/03/2020 12:54

@Busybee143 and @LxGx Mine was when I went to loo this morning also. Also more like coloured discharge. Definitely dark brown, which I gather means it's old. Was planning on trying to get an early scan next week either way. I've had mild cramping off and on since I got my BFP but now I'm more paranoid as I'm questioning whether to attribute it to a normal pregnancy symptom or to a possible MC.

Busybee143 · 16/03/2020 13:06

@AnxiousLady1
Cramping is very normal, if anything a good sign, im sure all will be fine

wafflewafflewaffle · 16/03/2020 14:07

@uisage yes I agree about nursery being the biggest risk, they are just little germ factories at the best of times aren’t they! At the same time though, I’m dreading nurseries being shut as I’d have to take time off work to look after my DS (there’s no way I’d get any work done from home with him around).

Aaand I think that’s it for this thread so will see you all over on thread 2 Smile
