Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

@DressingGown87 I ve written down my family history of heart problems, blood clots and high blood pressure.I just can't remember what everybody has exactly on top of those.

DH could list his families mental health history but he has no clue what the physical health side is like.

Midwife just called me. My 5pm appointment is now going to be done over the phone this morning. She said they'll do bloods/pressure at my scan instead.

DressingGown87 · 31/03/2020 09:09

@1990shopefulftm if you don’t know the answers, don’t worry. I didn’t know any from the fathers side, and only some from mine. Your appointment today?

@firsttimebumps that’s good, that they will do it all together, less at risk.

FirstTimeBumps · 31/03/2020 09:14

@DressingGown87 I could never understand why they did two lots of bloods so close together but apparently the ones for sickle cell and thalassemia need to be done before 10 weeks ideally

1990shopefulftm · 31/03/2020 09:20

@DressingGown87 no it's on Thursday afternoon, going to call them tomorrow to check if it's still in person. I'm asthmatic so they might want to check my lungs/plan if i have a flare up I suppose so i'm thinking its unlikely they'll change their mind about seeing me.

I don't have my scan date yet, so although the risk scares me a little, i'd like to get the bloods done soon in case my scans late. I also got whopping cough as a baby, so I want to ask them if I can get that vaccine booked as soon as they allow it.

My symptoms are going away, and this makes me very uneasy. 9+3 today, and woke up this morning feeling like a human being. Ive been vomiting for past week or so, and constant all day nausea, not to mention tiredness and sore boobs. Yesterday was ok, had lots of energy, got stuff done. Today I am feeling fine, and boobs are not as sore as they used to be, headache is gone... Got my scan on 13th April but that seems like an age away. Worried.

FirstTimeBumps · 31/03/2020 09:52

@Mc3209 I'm the same this time and I was last time. I had an absolute awful day and actually vomited last Tuesday then spent the rest of the week pretty fine to the extent I thought I'd gotten over the nausea part (it stopped by twelve weeks last time) but then yesterday I felt awful, head over the toilet again. It's ups and down with me so that may be the case with you too.

For anyone considering the issue with birth partners thinking way ahead, midwife just told me our particular trust would not go down the route of having no birth partners. She said the midwives recognise the importance of partners and they would be up in arms if the trust tried to ban all birth partners.

DressingGown87 · 31/03/2020 09:52

@1990shopefulftm they do whooping cough vaccine at 16weeks, so it can protect the baby. She booked mine when I was there. I’m asthmatic, she just did the co2 test and told me to order a preventer, spare inhaler and a spacer. Then booked me in for the flu jab, which I had later that day at my GP. It’s all surreal isn’t it?

@mc3209 sorry to hear your feeling anxious. Symptoms come and go, so try not to read to much into it. My boobs haven’t hurt since week 6, and I’ve never had sickness, think a few of us are in the boat. Hope your ok?

Freddie1987 · 31/03/2020 10:19

@Mc3209 i was exactly the same, it was the reason I started posting on this thread! The more I've spoken to people the more normal I think it is to start feeling fine around 9 weeks, you expect to feel crap right up until 12 weeks but everyone's body is different and yours might just be getting used to the hormone surges quicker Smile I am totally anxious too, so I know it's really easy for people to say try and remain calm but honestly, the main thing is to be kind to yourself and give yourself a little extra TLC until your scan.

@KitKatKit sending best wishes for your scan today!! Grin

Flora20 · 31/03/2020 10:42

@KitKatKit good luck for today!

I've been feeling absolutely normal with no symptoms for a while now (11+1 today) and remember being the same last time round too. It's ridiculous, we feel so rubbish for weeks and then as soon as we feel better we complain about that too! Apparently it's linked to when the placenta starts working properly, it stops you getting so affected by the hormones etc.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 31/03/2020 10:47

Hi Ladies, can i join in? I am 9weeks + 2days acccording to a scan. EDD is 31st October

Mc3209 · 31/03/2020 10:57

Thank you @FirstTimeBumps @DressingGown87 @Freddie1987 @Flora20 I really appreciate your support. I've never had anxiety issues before this pregnancy so it's a whole new uncharted world on all fronts. You gals are keeping me sane 😘😘

@UpsyDaisy1234 Welcome ☺️ How is your week so far?

UpsyDaisy1234 · 31/03/2020 11:50

@Mc3209 Thank you😊

I am always tired! All I just want to do all the time is lie down & sleep.

This is my 3rd and quite different from the last two.
With the previous ones, I had horrible morning sickness and heartburn up until around mid 2nd-trimester

But with this one, its just different. Really sore boobs, nausea no vomitting (am so glad but it only goes away when am eating😒), and extreme fatigue. And having very active 6 & 3 yr old doesn't help at all getting the desired rest.

And with the lockdown, it's just impossible.

Every minute I'm needed.

Demanding my attention every second of every day.

From preparing snacks to providing entertainment or keeping them out of my husband's home office.

There's been complaining. And fighting. And at certain times, there's been laughter that's been a little too loud.😃

We've lost the little bit of routine we had🙉. But DH's here with us - working from home - in the middle of our chaos. And he has been very supportive?

How's everyone doing so far?

I've got my midwife phone booking today? Bloods and scan date will be discussed too.

Lolllyf · 31/03/2020 11:50

My symptoms also come and go. One day I feel almost normal, can exercise normally and the next day I can barely function. I haven’t been vomiting, I have mild nausea which comes and goes and I want to eat more carbs. I also get nervous every time I have a good day!

1990shopefulftm · 31/03/2020 12:26

@DressingGown87 I got taken off my preventer last year as I ve been doing quite well asthma wise but my GP is anti spare inhalers for costs ( mine costs about £30 for one inhaler) so I ve only for the one rescue one. I had an asthma review just before TTC so already had my flu jab done so I think it's just the whooping cough one they do as I don't need the anti rhesus one as the baby should have positive blood.

1990shopefulftm · 31/03/2020 12:38

@FirstTimeBumps it's comforting to hear your midwife say that. At the moment one person is allowed to visit between 10-8 on my trust, it's the being alone with baby overnight if my birth ends up being late afternoon that worries me as I was hoping for a midwife unit birth which in normal circumstances they allow a partner to stay with you overnight and understandably they ll be short staffed so less people around to help.

OP posts:
FirstTimeBumps · 31/03/2020 12:46

@1990shopefultm my last one was meant to be a home birth because I hate being stuck in hospital. I ended up with an EMCS followed by a one night stay and honestly it's not that bad. My OH was sent home at 8pm just after wed got back to the ward and I was a bit fuming because I'd been awake for 32 hours at this point and was still connected to a pressure cuff on one side, an IV on the other and a catheter down below plus the mattress for my bed was too big and it dipped in in the middle. My partner buzzed for the MW before he left and they sorted me out and it was okay from then on. The MW even took my LB for a few hours so I could get some sleep. This time I'm intending on an elective section and am going to enquire about possibility of same day discharge as we have #1 to think about childcare wise. If we're still on lockdown regardless of them allowing partners in I may end up in by myself regardless as it seems pointless isolating then plonking my LB with someone he could catch it off

Preggerspat · 31/03/2020 12:55

@FirstTimeBumps you are so right about the elective csection in these rotten times, I didnt know same day discharge was an option after csection that wud be brill. Also saw in the news lots of hospitals are suspending home birth, god knows what shape the place will be in by time our turn comes around.

@KitKatKit good luck with your scan today xx

Isnt it so messed up how we cant wait for the symptoms to ease then as soon as they do we think there is something wrong lol I love the way every single one of us feels the same way Smile

@UpsyDaisy1234 welcome Smile I am.the opposite to you pregnancy wise - this is my 3rd too, I have 2 girls and both pregnancies were bog standard sickness wise whereas this one has been severe vomiting and nausea from week 5, but thankfully I am definitely feeling stronger now and hopefully the nausea eases now over next few weeks xx

FirstTimeBumps · 31/03/2020 13:03

@Preggerspat I'm not sure on it but my friends is a trainee physicians associate and she's done placement at the hospital were at and said first section of the day theoretically can go home same day although they don't do it often. Plus I've heard other trusts have agreed to it given the circumstances. I'm pretty set on a section though. I don't like the idea of birthing in a hospital let alone having to go it alone because of childcare and a home birth wouldn't be the safest given I've had a previous section.

Preggerspat · 31/03/2020 13:17

Here u would really like to think by time we are giving birth that this will be under control enough to let us have a birth partner Shock it's not something any of us should have to do alone with strangers regardless Confused

Danielle95lab · 31/03/2020 13:51

So just FYI, my 16 week midwife appointment I have in May has already been switched to telephone and it's not even April yet. I'm so sick of this coronavirus.

FirstTimeBumps · 31/03/2020 14:23

@Danielle95lab my midwife said to me today my 16 week will likely be telephone to but they're working on a day by day basis.

Luce123456 · 31/03/2020 14:28

Hey everyone. I have my 12 week scan next week. Does anyone know if they are letting partners in for the scan?

1990shopefulftm · 31/03/2020 14:45

@FirstTimeBumps hopefully they ll be making discharges as quick as they safely can if this is still going on.

I d happily like to try a home birth but DH says he ll be too anxious (the hospital is half a mile from where we live so if I needed transferring it wouldn't be far) , however he says if the pandemic is still going on and home birth is an option then he might calm down and be happy to do it , so at the moment I m hoping for midwife led unit birth.

My main issue with a ward birth is really that I know interventions are more likely.

@Luce123456 my hospital is only women to attend alone for any appointments, it's best to check with your hospital direct.
