Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

@FirstTimeBumps yes I also thought so. Forgot to ask on the phone, I'll ask on Wed when the midwife calls.
I don't feel too concerned right now, I had some blood tests recently so I know I am not anaemic! Have had flu vaccine at work last year, checked rubella immunity.
Everyone's circumstances will be different though. Just hoping to remain low risk and healthy. Can't wait for first trimester to be over!

FirstTimeBumps · 30/03/2020 10:39

@Lolllyf I know they do the ones that go with the scan to determine risk of genetic problems at the time they do the scan. For the booking ones I think it's thalassemia and sickle cell and determining rhesus status plus HIV/syphillus etc. I'm actually going to ask about skipping them this time. Nothing has changed since my last pregnancy unless there's something that can change without any external factor?

Freddie1987 · 30/03/2020 10:48

@roarfeckingroar Congratulations, what a lovely thing to happen in amongst all this madness! Flowers

I got a maternity bra and a non wired bralette from Hot Milk lingerie. Really pretty styles and comfy, most important thing!! uk.hotmilklingerie.com/ Code THANKYOU20 gets 20% off at the moment.

I've now told my close friends and they've all been so supportive, really glad I've told them now as it means I can vent a lot of my anxiety on my midwife friend and hope that these next few weeks pass quickly!

Lolllyf · 30/03/2020 10:51

@FirstTimeBumps You could ask, sounds reasonable!
Do they normally do the screening bloods for genetic conditions at the 12 week scan date?
Hoping I can have blood tests all at one time. This is all very new for all the maternity units and I know everyone is under immense pressure.

FirstTimeBumps · 30/03/2020 10:57

@Lolllyf yes, well at least they did last time at my hospital. I remember thinking surely this could have been done in one go. I'm a nightmare to get blood out of. Last time my midwife couldn't get them out of me at 28 weeks and had to sent me to a phlebotomy clinic.

sunbreak · 30/03/2020 11:11

@FirstTimeBumps @Lolllyf it's our first so we have no idea what to expect. At least it's in a smaller hospital and not in the main one near us (my mum works as a nurse there and they already have about 80 non critical cases and at least 3 people on oxygen).
We had blood and urine done in Jan (Jude before I was pregnant ) and that was normal but I've been anaemic few times in the past so I guess it's worth having the blood tests.

I also called them to confirm and the admin team just told me that all is going as originally confirmed unless I get a call. I think I'll be sawing face masks for me and my husband tonight, just in case.

sunbreak · 30/03/2020 11:13

Forgot to say that I'll be 9+2 or 9+3.

DressingGown87 · 30/03/2020 12:35

My booking appointment 2 weeks ago was at the hospital and they did bloods. My consultant appointment today was over video link. And my peri-natal appointment is over the phone this afternoon.
I do have to go for my 10 week scan on Wednesday though. Anxious to go to the hospital too, although maternity is separated from the main hospital. I think it’s because I’m literally not leaving the house.

Hope your all well, and welcome to the newbies!

BS9790 · 30/03/2020 12:39

Has anyone been suffering with headaches?
My sickness had all but gone, my boobs have stopped hurting. And then yesterday I started with the most horrific headache, I've been in bed since... Almost 24 hours.
Head still thumping and feeling sick with it.

Making me nervous as I feel so poorly and all my pregnancy symptoms disappeared a few days ago.
I'm about 9 + 2

roarfeckingroar · 30/03/2020 12:43

@BS9790 headaches here most days, it's not much fun.

Freddie1987 · 30/03/2020 12:43

@BS9790 weirdly, I have experienced almost exactly the same! I was 9 weeks last Monday and by the Tuesday I woke up feeling pretty normal, panicked for the rest of the week then on Friday or Saturday had an awful headache (which in turn made me feel sick) but it passed after one night. Hopefully you're not suffering anymore? I think it's really normal as your blood volume goes up you're more susceptible to headaches and even migraines.

Mc3209 · 30/03/2020 13:35

@BS9790 Same here. Nausea is better, and I am not vomiting today, but headaches are worse. I always had quite a specific migraine triggered by hormones, so I thought it was just me. For me I take it as a reassuring sign that hormone levels are high enough. Silver lining Smile

KitKatKit · 30/03/2020 14:34

I've bitten the bullet and booked a private scan for tomorrow afternoon. I've been largely symptom free for a few weeks and have been getting increasingly anxious as the days have gone on. I just don't feel as positive as I have been. The coronavirus situation hasn't been helping either.
Need all your good vibes folks Confused

Mc3209 · 30/03/2020 15:04

@KitKatKit Sending all the good vibes your way and I will have everything crossed for your scan tomorrow. Taking things one day at a time is the only way I could stay sort of sane so far.

professorastrocat · 30/03/2020 15:23

You need to do what feels right for you! All the best for tomorrow! Hope you enjoy it :) if it helps I had no symptoms with my first at all at this stage apart from a bit more tiredness.

1990shopefulftm · 30/03/2020 16:00

@KitKatKit do what's best for you, I got a private scan and they were very thorough checking everything and explaining how it's normal so I hope it gives you some comfort.

@sunbreak my booking appointment was over the phone but then had to go into the hospital for bloods, urine sample, weight etc

I’m still working in the main hospital with everything going on so try not to worry too much, there taking many special measures to make sure everyone is safe and the maternity unit where I went even made people wait outside in their cars rather than the waiting room until the midwife was ready for them.

Scary times for everyone I totally understand.

@KitKatKit I feel you with the loss of symptoms (except my constant backache over the weekend) good luck for the scan tomorrow!!

DressingGown87 · 30/03/2020 17:12

@KitKatKit good luck for your scan tomorrow.

@jaffas22 that reassuring to hear, I know when I went two weeks ago there was lots of measures in place, and that was before it all got more tighter.

I’ve had confirmation, that I will get weekly visit now from a Perinatal nurse, who will be assigned to me for the duration of my pregnancy and after the birth. So feel like I’ve got some support now.

Why have Hoover’s sold out! 😂

professorastrocat · 30/03/2020 17:37

That sounds great re the perinatal nurse @DressingGown87

roarfeckingroar · 30/03/2020 18:39

Good luck @KitKatKit. I didn't realise private clinics were still open - good that they are.

KitKatKit · 30/03/2020 19:24

Thank you all, will keep you posted with hopefully good news tomorrow afternoon. Hope you all have a lovely restful Monday evening x

1990shopefulftm · 30/03/2020 21:34

Hoping for an in and out appointment on Thursday since I couldn't do it over the phone, I presume they don't ask anything about birth plans (my honest answer at the moment to that question is I know what I want but I don't want to get my hopes up that things are back to normal in 7 months time ) or such in a booking appointment and it's just history, taking bloods and a little advice?

OP posts:
Mc3209 · 30/03/2020 22:02

@1990shopefulftm they won't ask about delivery plans at this stage. Booking is pretty much 101 question about your health and family history on both sides, bloods, weight, and urine test.

DressingGown87 · 30/03/2020 22:06

@1990shopefulftm it’s basically; your details, medication, smoking, drinking (units), medical history, family history, any previous births, urine sample, bloods, talk about screening and scans. Then they explained about jabs, scans, symptoms, do a risk assessment and following that they did a management plan.
It was basically following all the pages of the green book, we didn’t cover birth plans etc. I was told to plan about 1-2 hours, and mine was 2, as she went through my injections etc. hope that helps, maybe write some bits down on a piece of paper, I had my book beforehand, so had already completed some bits.

1990shopefulftm · 30/03/2020 22:07

@Mc3209, It ll just be the family history bit that might slow things down then, I ve been tested for some of the main issues myself so that hopefully stops most of the worries they could have.
