Did anyone get their BFP recently? I got mine last night so I think I'm 4 weeks 1 day today and still very much in shock, according to apps my due date would be October 30th.

@1990shopefulftm yes I keep forgetting words mid sentence! Keep yourself well!

Frankincense88 · 23/02/2020 10:21

@Waggers91 I think you have to do what's best for you - I really want to tell people but I'm such a worrier I just don't want anything bad to happen. I think I'll have to tell work relatively soon as I'm a teacher so it's going to be difficult to hide it if I'm feeling rough. My classroom is absolutely nowhere near a toilet which is giving me major anxiety already!!

1990shopefulftm · 23/02/2020 10:25

@Waggers91 I ll do my best, i've been eating a little bit extra to give my brain more energy but I'm not sure it's working.

@frankincense88 I am also a teacher and I would really really recommend telling your head at work or your HOD at least. It's not like other jobs where it's easy to 'take it easy' or go to the loo whenever you want to vomit/wee! I told my head early last time and she was amazing. They are more understanding when books aren't marked or you are sitting down during a lesson too! Also it's impossible to take time off for appointments as your can't take holiday to hide it. They have to risk assess you as soon as they know so the earlier the better! I also think it's worth work knowing is something does happen. I just asked her to keep it private and it was all good xxxx

Frankincense88 · 23/02/2020 11:28

@Ktn35 that's really useful to know thank you. I think it'll be my HOD I tell rather than my Head. Staff wellbeing isn't really a priority to most of SLT but my dept are amazing and we cover each other whenever we can. My HOD will be signing off my appointments anyway then I think as soon as 12 the first weeks are over I'll speak to management.

I'm just praying that my no nausea continues so I don't have to dash out mid-lesson. I teach secondary, so the kids will be onto it straight away and our parents are very nosy and will be emailing to find out what is going to happen to my GCSE groups next year etc!

YouBringLightInToADarkPlace · 23/02/2020 11:37

Yes meeeee! #1 took us 4 years, this little poppet took 1 month!
E.d.d is 2nd November.

Can't quite believe it!

ablisha · 23/02/2020 11:55

@Frankincense88 @Ktn35 fellow teacher here too!

Flora20 · 23/02/2020 13:11

Secondary teacher here too! Also nowhere near a toilet and hoping to stay sickness free 😂 managed last time around but some of the kids guessed really early anyway, still not sure how! I got better responses from the kids than SLT for sure... Lots of presents when I left too 🙂 It's parents evenings that are the real killer x

Frankincense88 · 23/02/2020 13:36

@Flora20 Hello fellow teacher! Luckily I've already done 6 out of our 8 parents' evenings this year and the other 2 are over the next 6 weeks. We've still got our presentation evening to go but it's not until summer term! Not expecting much support from the all male, unsympathetic SLT! My department will be fab though.

Flora20 · 23/02/2020 14:22

@Frankinsense88 oh that's not too bad then! I only work part time now and all the ones left are on days I'm not in 😂 our SLT is all female but makes no difference... Last time I sat in year 11 parents evening less than a week before I gave birth, so glad I'm not doing that again!

1990shopefulftm · 23/02/2020 14:51

fortunately, i work in an office and I'm not far from the toilets so i m hoping that buys me time before I have to tell people.

@frankinsence88 you will be surprised how long it takes 15 year olds to notice ... They are astonishingly self- absorbed! My form didn't even notice when I stated wearing a 'baby on board' badge at 18 weeks ... 😩😂 One boy even asked 'what are you pregnant?' when I was 30 weeks gone ... Kind of insulting!

Ktn35 · 23/02/2020 16:11

Ergh parent's evenings 😭😭😭 I'd forgotten !

ablisha · 23/02/2020 16:26

@Ktn35 haha the students are the same at my place!

My Head kind of knows it's on the cards as I went for a new role and wanted to be open and honest with him so told him before I was appointed. He was fine, really supportive in fact! Teaching PE however come September will be interesting I'm sure!

Frankincense88 · 23/02/2020 16:50

@Ktn35 @ablisha Hahah yes I have a few like that! I'm just a bit worried with the stress levels / data / managing behaviour / marking getting on top of me. I tutor and mark for the exam board as well so might have to cut back on extra curricular stuff so I can breathe!

DressingGown87 · 23/02/2020 17:33

I’m here too! 5+2 so due around 23rd October, following date of conception or 25th from period 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’ve told a few friends, and a lady I work with. As this has taken me by surprise, and it’s going to be a lonesome journey, so it will be nice to have some MN support!

Ktn35 · 23/02/2020 18:58

@frankincense88 it's amazing how you just stop caring from about 5-6 months! Nothing is worth putting yourself or the baby at risk! Kids tend to be a bit nicer when you are pregnant too! Xxx

Frankincense88 · 23/02/2020 19:06

@DressingGown87 congratulations! And welcome Smile

@Ktn35 If you're due end of Oct, when do you think is sensible to go on mat leave? All being well, I'm toying with the idea of going for 2 x Sept INSET days then starting mat leave early September. I think I'll be about 32 weeks then. That way I can take 38 weeks off and then go back the week before May half term when Y11 leave. Xxx

Ktn35 · 23/02/2020 19:52

@frankincense88 honestly I would work as long as you can as you will want the time off more at the other end when the baby is here! I worked till 37 weeks last time and then she wasn't born until over 42 weeks so I had 5 weeks sitting around which I wish I could have had with her later on! I am going to work until October half term and have my first day of mat leave as the first day back after half term. I'm taking a full year if we can afford it so will return exactly a year later. Money is tight but I'd rather be skint and at home 😂 I'd book mat leave in for as late a possible as you can bring it forward easily but you can't put it back last minute 😊 xxx

Ktn35 · 23/02/2020 19:53

All being well with this baby that is ...

Flora20 · 23/02/2020 20:35

I worked until 37+3 last time, wanted to go as late as possible to get more time with the baby. I finished on the Friday and had her on the Sunday night 😂 Bearing in mind they say second babies come sooner I'm wondering when to finish this time! Finances are going to be tight here so thinking about finishing start of October and going back for a couple of days in July - ie getting paid over the summer - and start back properly in September. It's hard trying to plan for something so abstract!

Ktn35 · 23/02/2020 22:14

@flora20 I did exactly that last time. I did exam marking to pay for a holiday but on reflection I wished I'd just had another month off work. My daughter was born 14th October (but due 29th September 🙄) which meant when I went back in the Autumn she was just 10 1/2 months which felt way too young to put into full time childcare. Luckily we have an amazing childminder and she settled really well but I found it so hard. I was utterly miserable (and still am really - I've just got used to it! - It one of the reasons I'm pregnant again so quickly 😂 )

Flora20 · 24/02/2020 16:19

@Ktn35 I'd rather take the full year like I did with my first, but financially probably not going to be able to this time. I'm assuming this one is going to be born early Oct as my daughter was 2 weeks early, so by Sept they'll be 11 months ish which isn't too bad... Hopefully I'll win the lottery and not have to go back at all 😂 I'm part-time which makes it easier.

Anyone else ridiculously tired? I'm not sure how much to blame my toddler or the pregnancy! 6 weeks tomorrow ...

1990shopefulftm · 24/02/2020 16:21

Sometimes I feel really energetic and then I ll feel so tired again. My throats felt like metal today.

OP posts:
Frankincense88 · 24/02/2020 16:24

@Flora20 pretty tired but no other symptoms. Keep doing tests to make sure it's actually real. I don't know whether tiredness was just first day back tiredness or pregnancy related. Bit dehydrated as well so just downing as much water as I can.

Has anyone got any thoughts on early scans? I really think it would help me with my anxiety - I am so worried it's all going to come crashing down and can't seem to stop with the intrusive thoughts so thought a private early scan might ease my anxiety a little.
