Pregnancy

Placenta Previa, please ease my anxiety

Hi all
So, 20 week scan yesterday, baby perfect. Sonographer casually mentioned placenta is blocking the exit, covering the os. Had no idea what he was on about, just happy baby was okay. He said it can increase the risk of needing a section, I'm having a planned section anyhow so didn't think anything of it. Had a 2 minute after appointment with a midwife who said any bleeding I must immediately come into hospital, if it's heavy then 999 ambulance. I was a bit shocked to ask any questions and she hurried me out of the door saying I'd have a scan at 30 weeks and hopefully it's not previa anymore.
I promised myself I would not Google.
So obviously I googled last night and I am now a complete mess of anxiety. Convinced myself if I have sex or a long walk I'm going to bleed out and die on the spot leaving my beautiful 3 year old daughter and husband behind.
I've had a tough start to this pregnancy with HG and it had finally eased up and I was enjoying my life again. Now I'm terrified. I can't find out if I should rest/avoid sex etc NOW or if it hasn't changed by next scan.
Please can anyone share/comfort/virtual shake me?

Yes it was... really cheap and nasty vanilla ice cream (thanks for the sub Asda) and "treat" raspberry sauce. Brought to me in bed as I was really dizzy from the infection Grin
Sugars this morning were 5.1 so I'm guessing ice cream makes a good tea haha. Sorry you can't get yours down, will you have to go onto insulin?

So positive news! They're happy with my sugar readings, prepared to leave me alone for 2 weeks without insulin or Metformin. Considering my section is 2 weeks 2 days from now I'm not sure why I've got a review for 2 weeks time but hey ho.
Found a beauty spot nearby today, went for a big long walk along (and in for a paddle) the most beautiful stream. Followed by a picnic. Absolute heaven, could almost forget we were in a pandemic. Not been anywhere other than for local walks since Feb. I did have a comedic moment however using my "lazy Jane" for the first time...that's a skill I need to master Blush
@Snowbear20 how are you? Any babies yet?

Had my scan today. Total placenta previa and sonographer and Consultant said it won’t move now due to how bad it is.
Section booked for 38 weeks but got to prepare myself for earlier. Have been referred to feral medicine specialist to check if it attached to my previous c section scar which would then make it a lot more serious xx

Ah sorry to hear this Flowers I wonder why 38 weeks, I asked for 38 weeks and they said 39. Is your Placenta posterior or anterior do you know? Good they're checking your scar, but much less likely if posterior. How are you feeling after your scan and app?

It’s anterior. Due to it being a total previa they said 38 weeks at the very latest. I have stupidly googled and read nothing but horror stories about the potential of it attaching to the scar and how the section goes x

MamaBearThius · 19/05/2020 20:29

Very rare for it to attach, I'm sure you'll be okay. Mine was complete Previa at 20 weeks and is now abutting, 13mm from the OS. So strange how different hospitals are. Sending hugs, distanced of course x

@MamaBearThius it says chance of it is 67% of previa with previous section. Because I am 32 weeks tomorrow and how low the placenta is both said no chance of it moving. Will hopefully hear from specialist today xx

Feeling amazing somehow! Up and about after no time at all! Staff were brilliant in hospital and all so appologetic about the PPE. They were so helpful though, honestly you don't really think about the Covid stuff once you're in.

Toddler is really struggling, we may have to put him back in nursery sooner than we planned.

How are you?

Really struggling, lots of hitting attempts and saying baby to go back

Oooh nearly time then! Must be getting excited now?

That's so funny 😂 worth it? Oh no, sure it'll get easier. Bless you though must be stressful.
Nearly time, a week on Thursday. I'm so ready. Not sure about excitement tbh, it doesn't actually feel like I'll ever get a baby out of this!

Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
38 week scan today...10lb5 Shock
They want me to have my section Monday, and to admit me Saturday morning for steroids and a slide and scale until Monday. I burst into tears and refused. Zero visiting so I'd be saying bye to 4 year old DD Saturday morning until Tuesday at the earliest. I can't do it. I also won't sleep if I'm canulated and being constantly pumped with insulin etc. I don't get it, my blood sugars have been below all the guidelines yet I'm being treated like a proper diabetic.
So the compromise is, I go in every day to be monitored. And any sign of labour I have to get to labour ward quick for a section. The Dr said the baby is way too big to birth, especially after a previous c-section. Feeling super stressed out. And the stupid Placenta hasn't moved Hmm

What week was your daughter born and how much did she weigh? Glad the have compromised with you. Exciting that it is so close.

I’m 33 weeks today had scan, no sign of accreta luckily, scan again in 2 weeks and then birth plan. Section will be 38 weeks latest possibly 37 weeks x

MamaBearThius · 28/05/2020 19:15

She was born exactly on her due date and weighed 9lb11. I don't make small ones!! Exciting it's close yes but also terrified I've made the wrong decision and I'll go into labour and be totally destroyed!
How are you feeling? Why will yours be so early?

Feeling ok, pleased about todays scan but she also said some accreta can not be picked up on a scan and will only be found during surgery. Anxious to get next scan done and have birth plan in place.

I dont know.... specialist and consultant both said for total placenta previa the section is done at 37/38 weeks x
