Placenta Previa, please ease my anxiety

Hi all
So, 20 week scan yesterday, baby perfect. Sonographer casually mentioned placenta is blocking the exit, covering the os. Had no idea what he was on about, just happy baby was okay. He said it can increase the risk of needing a section, I'm having a planned section anyhow so didn't think anything of it. Had a 2 minute after appointment with a midwife who said any bleeding I must immediately come into hospital, if it's heavy then 999 ambulance. I was a bit shocked to ask any questions and she hurried me out of the door saying I'd have a scan at 30 weeks and hopefully it's not previa anymore.
I promised myself I would not Google.
So obviously I googled last night and I am now a complete mess of anxiety. Convinced myself if I have sex or a long walk I'm going to bleed out and die on the spot leaving my beautiful 3 year old daughter and husband behind.
I've had a tough start to this pregnancy with HG and it had finally eased up and I was enjoying my life again. Now I'm terrified. I can't find out if I should rest/avoid sex etc NOW or if it hasn't changed by next scan.
Please can anyone share/comfort/virtual shake me?

Sorry not been on here much lately, the negativity and nastiness seems to have reached impressive new heights!

How did today go?

MamaBearThius · 21/04/2020 17:40

Oh really? On what?
App was yesterday...she's estimated at 5lbs9! 33 weeks. Placenta is now abutting the OS, so want to leave my section til week 39. I broke down tbh, I'm struggling so much with anxiety and pain and all of it and was hopeful for 37 weeks. Been prescribed dyhidracodeine for the pain but a bit wary of taking it.
How are you?

Snowbear20 · 23/04/2020 09:19

Oh all the Coronavirus stuff thats all

Have you got a c sec date yet? The thing is by waiting til 39 weeks things might have calmed down somewhat with restrictions in hospital after your c sec!

I'm shattered and feeling pretty useless but also dont want baby to arrive yet as it feels like a rubbish time to be having a baby

MamaBearThius · 23/04/2020 15:37

I know I know and it's best for baby and her lungs...just selfishly want my body back! Not got a date no, have you?
Got another scan on the 18th

OP posts:
Snowbear20 · 25/04/2020 07:29

I can completely understand wanting your body back, I'm feeling like that too. Especially when trying to keep up with the toddler.
I've agreed to go for a VBAC.....terrified but could arrive anytime now!! Managed to arrange a friend to come have the toddler which is great as i was scared to go into hospital alone

Fingers crossed for the 18th.

MamaBearThius · 25/04/2020 08:23

Yeah I feel so unfair, I'm just a mopey giant shouty hippo who is always in pain. Trying my best, got some school books delivered as very very doubtful she will be starting school in September but she's such a bright curious little girl. Going to start them today with her and see how we get on.
Oh wow, so your placenta has completely moved then if you can have a VBAC? That's so exciting. Will you be induced?

OP posts:
Snowbear20 · 29/04/2020 17:52

Hows your daughter and you getting on now?

Yes placenta moved completely! I was very surprised! No I've said I wont be induced, but I've been engaged for a few weeks now so you never know it might happen anytime

MamaBearThius · 30/04/2020 08:16

Everything crossed for you!
She's loving the "school work" the weather was lovely so we sat in the garden doing them.
Just found out I've got GD now ontop of everything else ..gahhh!! Got a phone appointment today with my new team, not sure if they'll do the section a bit earlier? Hoping I don't need insulin etc, I've been home testing as I refused the GTT and the levels are borderline so we'll see.
How are you?

OP posts:
Snowbear20 · 04/05/2020 07:26

A friend had GD for the last month, worked really hard and controlled it with diet alone!! It was a dull diet granted but it can be done. I think they will only get them out earlier if growth increases too much

Bump is due whenever now so feel like I'm sat around waiting

MamaBearThius · 04/05/2020 07:28

C'mon out baby snowbear!

Snowbear20 · 04/05/2020 07:41

I keep thinking of jobs I haven't done yet though, need to get the sterliser through the dishwasher and a few bottles ready to go (currently in the loft). So disorganised this time Confused

MamaBearThius · 04/05/2020 20:05

Uh oh! Any signs of anything? I had to go in for a check over today as my hands feet and face swelled up! Apparently just another beautiful pregnancy symptom though...yay me!

OP posts:
Snowbear20 · 04/05/2020 20:37

Been having Braxton Hicks for weeks but nothing more (although I'll be honest I have no idea what signs there will be!)

Oh blimey, is all OK?

MamaBearThius · 05/05/2020 08:44

I had hideous Braxton Hicks last night, felt like the real deal!
Yeah I think so, just swollen. Bought myself a BP monitor to keep an eye on things as I get really anxious having to go up to maternity at the min.
Are you still working from home?

OP posts:
Snowbear20 · 05/05/2020 15:26

I have a BP monitor too as I've been so stressed going in to the midwives I've been getting high readings. She agreed that if I could prove it was Covid stress (thankful Amazon Prime) by the end of the next day she wouldn't act on it.
No, I'm now on annual leave thankfully, rest of the business has been furloughed anyway. I'm so nervous about having a job to go back to!!

MamaBearThius · 05/05/2020 19:21

Oh that's good. What's your maternity hospital like? Ours is seperate to the main hospital which gives me some reassurance and zero partners etc allowed in but I still get really anxious about going. I very rarely leave the house anymore, I can see it only getting worse with a tiny one too.
Try not to worry, I hope everything will be great for you Brew

Unfortunately its all one big building, but they have green and red areas and I think you use different entrances. My midwife isn't based there so I've not been since I last gave birth so I'm unsure of the set up now!

I've still been having a walk a day with thr dog and toddler, helps the toddler sleep at night so its got to be done. Everyone seems to be behaving so no one really to avoid which is nice!

Still no baby, I suspect the world is not seeming an appealing place right now

How are you?

MamaBearThius · 06/05/2020 18:29

Ah, haven't you had your scans there? Hopefully it'll be a nice safe place.
Yeah daily walks are lovely, planning on sticking to them. We've got a gorgeous river side walk we've been doing which is really lovely and quite quiet.
I'm okay thank you, struggling with the pain a bit but better now the sunshine is back - means more garden days!
How are you?

OP posts:
Snowbear20 · 06/05/2020 20:48

Oddly scans are in a different building! My main worry is getting lost and ending up in a red zone!!
That sounds a lovely walk. All the nice areas here are so hectic its just not worth bothering. I'm hoping it won't be long til we can do 2 walks a day so we can get out very early and then again late on and avoid the madness.

MamaBearThius · 06/05/2020 21:40

Ah, we are a bit too lucky and managed to move to a gorgeous village on the outskirts of Lincoln - it's seriously beautiful. But, hadn't realised how much was on our doorstep til this lockdown, we'd usually travel to national trust places to walk etc. Is it busy where you are? I don't think anyone would know if we went out more than once, in fact I have had two waddles out today as we took the dogs out again after tea Smile

MamaBearThius · 11/05/2020 09:14

How are you doing @Snowbear20? And anyone else still following this thread
I've got an appointment on Thursday, double scan and diabetic review type thing. Should get my section date too, desperate for it to be this month

OP posts:
Snowbear20 · 11/05/2020 15:46

Still pregnant, starting to think it'll be eviction by c sec!

How are you getting on?

MamaBearThius · 11/05/2020 19:59

Currently on a monitor for reduced movements! Such a pesky baby.
I'm fed up! I'm so so so big Hmm
When's your next appointment?

OP posts:
Snowbear20 · 11/05/2020 20:18

One this week just the normal 'hello how are you, you seem to still be pregnant' type. Then just waiting on back up plan c sec date!!

Oh thats not ideal, thats a trickster you have there!! Have you got a c sec date yet?

MamaBearThius · 13/05/2020 19:11

Trickster indeed! She had best be the cutest baby ever I'm telling you. Getting that at tomorrow's scan and appointment! Really stressed about it as I want to argue to have my section at 38 weeks. Especially if placenta is still low, the longer I wait the higher the risk of a spontaneous labour which of course would trigger a giant scary bleed and an emergency section after an emergency ambulance etc. I'd just rather have an ounce of control and have a lovely gently planned one you know?
