Hi,

Starting a thread for ladies in early pregnancy after one or more miscarriages or stillbirths. A safe place to let off steam and hopefully grow healthy rainbows together......

Aahhh all these scans are gorgeous. I'm so happy for you all! Flowers

For those of you that have had scans at around 9 weeks are they abdominal or TV? I have one on Thursday and my letter doesn't say (think hes just put it through as a 'check up' to get it approved maybe) so I don't know whether to go with full bladder or not... I will be 8w5d ish.... I hope. Anyone had an NHS Scan at that point?

@DressingGown87 Welcome to the group. What a shock that must have been. Those early weeks are so hard, it doesn't feel real as you aren't getting any medical attention yet and just left to your own devices, but keep yourself busy and hopefully you will be booking in before you know it.

@didslysquiddlydoo You do what you need to to keep your sanity. The wait for the next scan is agony, but you will get there soon enough. Keep yourself busy, I hope you have a busy weekend ahead.

DressingGown87 · 25/02/2020 09:55

Thank you all for the welcome

@Treaclepie19 my nausea has also disappeared. Think it’s coming back sometimes, then realise it’s not.

@tunnocksTcake good luck with your scan on Thursday. I’m only 5+4, but seen my GP, midwife, Counsellor and nurse for bloods. I had no folic acid or iron last year (not pregnancy related) so was already being treated for that. Scan next week at 6+3, so anxious! Did another test last night to make sure I wasn’t dreaming!

Treaclepie19 · 25/02/2020 09:57

@TunnocksTcake I'd go with a full bladder. Either way it's best because you can empty it or not.
At that point though I'd expect an abdominal. I have one at 9+3 and as far as I know its going to be abdominal.

Scout20 · 25/02/2020 10:00

@tunnocksTcake It will depend... Go with a full bladder - that way they can start off as abdominal and then if needed you can nip to the loo and they'll do a TVS. I asked this last time and they said 'easier to empty than to fill'! I have an anteverted uterus, like a lot of ladies here, so they prefer to do TVS until the second trimester.

Lovely to see all the scan pictures - not just because of the positive news, but because it seems a lot of people are feeling more positive. Thinking of everyone who is still anxious, though, and hoping the milestones pass quickly for you. Likewise, thinking of everyone struggling with symptoms and struggling with the lack thereof...

I had a positive scan last week and my next this afternoon, which means I'm currently a solid mass of terror. Will let you know!

Avocuddles · 25/02/2020 10:00

@TunnocksTcake my nhs scan yesterday at 9 weeks was internal - my hospital doesn't offer external before 12 weeks as it's not as clear. Good luck for Thursday!

@DressingGown87 welcome! I hope this is your rainbow. Are you on any particular treatment or medication as a result of your medical history?

@Treaclepie19 hope the cold clears up soon. My nausea comes and goes, I think that's pretty normal and nothing to worry about....

@Scout20 good luck for this afternoon!

Scout20 · 25/02/2020 10:03

Thanks @Avocuddles - so glad yours was a good one yesterday Flowers

Treaclepie19 · 25/02/2020 10:05

Thanks @Avocuddles
I think it's just how it went from awful to nothing. This pregnancy business is just one worry after another.

Knotemma · 25/02/2020 10:34

Well the sickness is back with a vengeance after a couple if days if feeling slightly better. I've gone back up to full dosage on my tablets (I'm trying to only take them when I need them, which can be quite hard to judge)

I'm a lovely grump after next to no sleep, so going to have a very quiet day.

Somehow going back to work on Friday doesn't feel that feasible, so I think I'll be back to the doctor's tomorrow. This first trimester malarkey is hard work, I have a lot of respect for you lovely ladies who are managing to do your normal routine, whether that's work or family oriented.

Avocuddles · 25/02/2020 11:39

Just had my 12 week scan date confirmed as March 19th - it feels like AGES away! Fortunately the next couple of weeks are pretty busy which will help it pass more quickly. Hopefully it will be worth the wait..... 🤞

OP posts:
TunnocksTcake · 25/02/2020 11:52

Thanks ladies, I think I will go with full bladder, as you say its easier to empty than to fill on command Grin keeping nice and busy the next couple of evenings with hair cut and nails tonight and Tomorrow to make the days fly by. Just wish work was busier....
@Scout20 I think I have a retroverted uterus funnily enough so I imagine it will be harder to see on abdo as further away...? I will find out on Thursday!

@Knotemma sorry your sickness is back Sad must be so frustrating when it comes and goes like that.

@Avocuddles exciting!! I want mine to come soo badly, need another milestone to aim for after Thursday all being well. Its not too far, remember its March on Sunday! Can't wait for some sunnier days and a bit more warmth!

SammiLou2312 · 25/02/2020 12:07

@TunnocksTcake I also have retroverted uterus and both my 8 and 10 weeks were abdominal ones. Only needed internal for 6 weeks. From what I understand it takes almost an hour for your bladder to fill (I woke up late yesterday so nearly didn't have enough in my bladder lol) so much better to go with full bladder and empty if needed x

Knotemma · 25/02/2020 12:13

@TunnocksTcake, I hope everything goes well for you, I agree that it's much easier to empty a bladder than to fill it... I always remember being asked to completely empty my bladder for a a scan and thinking.... What, how do I know😂. Both of mine have been abdominal, but I think it's normal to try that first and if not move on to TV.

I am a bit frustrated, I was starting to see a point where I could get back to normal life a bit more. I'm missing getting out and even a short walk is exhausting, which is difficult because I was really active before hand. But this fun rollercoaster has its ups and downs and at least I've managed to get some tablets down this morning and have a snack. Going to attempt some lunch soon as actually feel a bit hungry, which hasn't happened for a while. Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday x

Rachael321 · 25/02/2020 12:23

Afternoon all. Another awful sleep! Was awake from 2ish-5ish and was sick in between. Morning sickness currently feels like middle of the night sickness!!

Generally so run down. Tired, achey, dry skin, spots, nails breaking, hair awful. Cannot win!!

What's this "glow" everyone goes on about??😂😂😂

SammiLou2312 · 25/02/2020 12:44

Does anyone else find it confusing to know what you can and can't eat? I had a real hankering for an egg mayo sandwich at lunch and have no idea if I'm allowed one from Gregg's or not. I know you are allowed eggs if they are lion brand but can't tell if they use lion in Gregg's. Tried looking it up and some sites say hard boiled eggs are fine but avoid mayo, others say shop bought sarnies are fine while another said to avoid prepacked sandwiches completely! So confused 😣

Littlegoth · 25/02/2020 12:49

Just catching up! Lovely to see your scan pics. My next scan is Friday and if positive will be a record for me, anxiety starting to ramp up. I’m glad I don’t have long to wait between scans, but those last few days before I’m over analysing symptoms and worrying about any fluctuations. Hopefully I’ll
have a lovely picture to share on Friday

Seahawk80 · 25/02/2020 12:58

@Scout20 good luck! Just off for a scan too. It's my 12 week and I'm so worried, I've never had a "happy" 12 week scan, even though DS was fine in the end. Feeling really nervous now, although I was weirdly fine this morning.

@didslysquiddlydoo totally get it, I felt the same for a while. Also you are probably still getting used to the fact that the bean is still there! Sounds like we've had similar experiences both with that and no symptoms. I like to think of it as compensation after going through hell waiting to miscarry and then being told all was fine!

Treaclepie19 · 25/02/2020 12:59

@SammiLou2312 I'd say it's fine. Eggs ate fine. Mayo is fine unless homemade and with eggs that haven't been vaccinated (which is rare now)
Of course with shop bought sandwiches there is always a risk but if you'd take it when not pregnant it's probably nothing to worry about.
I find it hard because I have OCD so have to make myself have things that I'm worried about so as not to escalate it.

Knotemma · 25/02/2020 13:24

@Sammilou2312 your fine with shop bought egg mayo in the UK. A lot of the hysteria online about shop bought sandwiches is from the US, where there seems to be a much bigger issue with listeria? I don't know if there's just generally a different level of hygiene there (they do crazy stuff like bleach wash raw chicken to make it fit for consumption, which makes me think that the farming practices are a lot more questionable) or if it's climate related. But I mentioned eggs to my midwife and she said as long as they aren't from chickens in my own garden they're fine, as almost everything on sale is pasteurised these days. If I'm in doubt I check the NHS list www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/foods-to-avoid-pregnant/ and that's says all eggs are fine as long as cooked through. I hope that helps x

Good luck @Seahawk80, I'm sure all will be fine.

@TunnocksTcake @SammiLou2312 I'm another owner of a retroverted uterus! I hope the abdominal scan at 12 weeks is clear but have no issues with the 'dildo can' after numerous encounters! 😂

Dildo cam not dildo can - that sounds painful!
