Hi girls!

Recently found out that I’m pregnant and based on my last period I think I should be 4 weeks today! Just wanted to start a thread to see if there’s anyone else who’s in the same boat?

I’m so excited but also extremely nervous about the thoughts of a miscarriage so just wanting to reach out to people who are at a similar stage :)

Thanks! Xx

I started taking Boots prenatal multi vitamins this morning. I wanted to take vit d (January!) but I'm also veggie and have had really cold hands and feet the last week, so wondered if I was a bit low on iron.

I swear, though, the pills are THREE TIMES the size of the folic acid I was taking. But no repeating or chalky after taste so I guess I'll see how I get on. Needless to say, I hear you re pills @mimmi91

I don't want to spend a fortune. Interested what others take?

Still got everything crossed. Seeing my GP on Tuesday.

mimmi91 · 17/01/2020 13:45

I'm taking this brand called Mama's Select , and the pills are also MASSIVE!! I almost choke to death every time I take one... Also, because it has Omega 3 Fatty Acids in it, it tastes disgusting... It gives me fishy burps :S

I can't seem to find a brand that has the good dosage of everything...

Booona19 · 17/01/2020 13:55

@Banbi I take the boots ones aswell and I find them grand so far, I took pregnacare in my last pregnancy and I swear they made my morning sickness worse

mimmi91 · 17/01/2020 15:22

By the way I've just seen on another birth club thread that people create Facebook groups to chat "better".

Seeing that we're all pretty much cycle twins, would anyone be interested in that? :)

cg86 · 17/01/2020 17:21

@mimmi91 I'm taking vitamin d drops. I got it off amazon and just drop into food. I find it quite easy to take. And if it helps I'm a doctor and you can totally take it in pregnancy. Supplementation is actually advised in pregnancy but the amount of what you take would be on individual advice.

cg86 · 17/01/2020 17:22

@mimmi91 btw I take 1000 IU per day. Also I'd be interested in a private Facebook thing too.

mimmi91 · 17/01/2020 17:23

@cg86 oh that's great to know about the vit D thanks! Which brand are you using? :)

Anyone else interested in a private fb group...? :)

LuckyWright · 17/01/2020 17:24

Can I join!? Got my BFP today. I'm 4 + 4 weeks! This is my first pregnancy so it's a bit worrying! Still not sure I quite believe it. Eek!

mimmi91 · 17/01/2020 17:26

@LuckyWright yayyy congrats!!! I think we were on the same conception thread hahah! I'm 4+5 today, so only got my BFP a few days before you :D

LuckyWright · 17/01/2020 17:27

@mimmi91 I just read the comment you wrote about telling everyone on your sisters birthday! That's EXACTLY what I'm going to be doing!!

cg86 · 17/01/2020 17:31

@mimmi91 Nutravita Vit D3 drops

@LuckyWright @mimmi91 my husband and I are travelling to his family for his sister's surprise 30th. I will be around 11 weeks then. We were thinking of telling his family but he's worried we might "steal her thunder". What are your thoughts?! Keen to hear people's opinions - to tell in law family weekend of SIL's b day or not?!

LuckyWright · 17/01/2020 17:45

Thank you! Yes we were on a conception thread together @mimmi91 ! I'm going to be taking another test tomorrow morning to be extra sure! Then I think I will believe it.
On my sisters birthday I will be around 11 weeks so going to find it difficult to say nothing to her for next 6ish weeks as we are very close. Also she just told me like Friday she is pregnant! (6 weeks today)... so we have like a week n a half between us which is mental!

@cg86
I think it depends how well you know his sister? How do you think she would feel?

mimmi91 · 17/01/2020 17:49

@cg86 and @Luckywright I was also worried about stealing her thunder! So have decided not to announce it during the actual dinner, but maybe the next day (we'll all be sleeping over at my parents', so maybe at breakfast??)... I will only be 7w by then though, but hopefully I'll have gotten used to the idea by then :)

I did tell my mum today though, and am thinking of telling my dad soon too. But the siblings will have to wait hah!

I'm having a harder time deciding about my parents in law!! My husband seems to think it's a trade-off, and that if I tell my dad, we also have to tell his parents... But to me it still doesn't feel like a grandchild, just a very private thing going on in my uterus!! Hence my only being comfortable telling my family atm.... Am I being weird?!

cg86 · 17/01/2020 17:50

@LuckyWright we are getting closer. Since we live in different countries not as close as we could be because of distance. I think she would be ok with it though.

Bubble29 · 17/01/2020 17:57

@mimmi91 I'm the same! I'm
Happy to tell my parents, my sister (not brother) and the in-laws don't feel it's necessary at the moment in time for my husbands siblings to know.

I only want to tell my sister as I can talk openly to her and of course because we age sisters. Ha. X

LaurenL7 · 17/01/2020 17:58

@LuckyWright congrats! I'm 4+4 too I've also taken loads of tests and still don't quite believe it haha; I'm not sure when it's supposed to kick in that it's actually real!

@mimmi91 I'd totally be up for the Facebook thing but happy to stay on here too if that's easier. Or both! 😂

I haven't considered vitamin D actually re supplements. I'll have to look into it so thanks for the advice xx

I've decided I will let my mum and probably my sister know soon. Undecided about my dad and in-laws, would like them to know but they all struggle to keep a secret!

My birthday is around when I will be 12 weeks so will probably have a meal and let my other siblings, dad and in laws know then.

@cg86 That's a tricky one. Some people would be upset by that but I think if you think she would be fine with it then that's ok.

@mimmi91 a Facebook group sounds like a nice idea.

LuckyWright · 17/01/2020 19:20

@mimmi91 no that's completely understandable about feeling comfortable with telling your mum/family but feeling different about telling your partners family!

@cg86 Ah sorry didn't quite realise she lived abroad when I read your first message. That's good that you still get along and are reasonably close with her living abroad! Could you say the day before or after her birthday?

LuckyWright · 17/01/2020 19:27

@LaurenL7 Snap! I think once I do one tomorrow morning I will believe it. It's my first... is it yours?
I'm up for the Facebook group too!
How old is everyone? I'm 29 and live in Hertfordshire x

Banbi · 17/01/2020 19:34

I'm up for the Facebook group too Grin

Bubble29 · 17/01/2020 20:21

Ive just turned 33 and from Birmingham. Anyone else around the midlands?
Sounds like I'm on blind date 😂

mimmi91 · 17/01/2020 22:18

I'm 28, I am actually Swedish haha... But lived in London for almost 10 years, and have just moved to France! I really miss the UK, so I felt a strong urge to go on an English forum :)

I've had some seriously painful cramps tonight, all around my lower back too. But it might just be trapped wind lol, although I have no idea what that's supposed to feel like lol

LaurenL7 · 17/01/2020 23:07

@LuckyWright I'm 29 too and it's also my first!

@bubble29 I'm from Stoke-on-Trent so not crazy far away from Birmingham in the grand scheme of things xxx

Yes nice about the FB group. Still in one from four years ago! I'm only taking folic acid and zinc at mo. Good news at doc as levels shooting up but still need another scan to confirm where! Work will hate me.. how do you all know your weeks? Clear blue? I am terrible at remembering date of last period so could either have been end of Nov or mid Dec!

LuckyWright · 18/01/2020 08:57

I've just worked it out from the date of the first day of my last period so it's not exact exact. That was 17th Dec. One app says 4 + 5 today (flo) and another says 4 + 4 today.
I have irregular periods. Often around 30/32 days so I'm not exactly sure on due date but I will find out at first scan!
I took another pregnancy test this morning. Nice clear positive SmileGrin
Is anyone going to have an early scan do you think? I'm tempted to go for one at 8 weeks.

I'm taking pregnacare - the liquid form. I can't swallow tablets! I've been taking it for around 2 weeks now as it says it's fine to take when TTC and through pregnancy.
I was taking folic acid tablets throughout Nov and Dec then moved into the pregnacare. Not sure if I should be taking anything else in addition to pregnacare!
