Hi girls!

Recently found out that I’m pregnant and based on my last period I think I should be 4 weeks today! Just wanted to start a thread to see if there’s anyone else who’s in the same boat?

I’m so excited but also extremely nervous about the thoughts of a miscarriage so just wanting to reach out to people who are at a similar stage :)

Thanks! Xx

@Banbi You're in the same boat as me then! I don't want them to miss their holiday but I also don't want to tell them too early and get their hopes up. So tricky!

@mimmi91 Your day at your desk job sounds a lot like mine when I've been working from home recently! Luckily when I'm in the office I feel like time goes a bit faster, plus at least I can't obsess or Google things too much as my colleagues would twig pretty quickly!

I also feel 'normal' @SleeepyyHead, I am going to enjoy that while I can, just in case it gets much worse in a few weeks time.

Bumblelion20 · 16/01/2020 17:28

@mimmi91 I think a diary is a really good idea. I always write things down and it makes me feel better about them Smile

@SleeepyyHead I’m feeling more positive today. I am actually feeling a bit nauseous though. Was a little nauseous a couple days ago and thought it was too early to be related but I guess anything is possible.

mimmi91 · 16/01/2020 18:25

@SleeepyyHead I'm also feeling "normal" today at 4+4 ! Cramps have subsided, and no nausea (yet). I think we should try to enjoy this symptom-free time before it hits in the next few days/weeks :P

OrDis · 16/01/2020 19:16

Hello 👋
I’m new to Mumsnet but I wanted to join this thread so have just signed up. I’m 4+3! Just found out yesterday! Excited but it definately hasn't sunk in yet! Feels very surreal! I feel mostly fine at the moment apart from some crampy twinges and a lot more burpy gas than normal (sorry TMI) 🤣

Hope everyone is doing well!

LaurenL7 · 16/01/2020 19:20

@sportyfanatic Welcome! I think you might be due first out of all of us, how exciting! 😊

@orDis yayy we're due on the same day, I'm 4+3 too!

I feel totally normal and have had barely any symptoms at all. Definitely want to feel some but on the other hand I'm hoping that I'm one of those lady's who breezes through pregnancy with no issues/sickness whatsoever!

OP posts:
OrDis · 16/01/2020 19:30

@LaurenL7 Same here, I absolutely hate being sick (not that I think anyone really likes it) but I REALLY hate it, so i’m praying my morning sickness isn't too bad. Fingers crossed 🤞

mimmi91 · 16/01/2020 19:45

Wow I'm so relieved to read that so many of us are still symptom-free!
It's so weird when you suddenly remember you're pregnant in the middle of the day and you think... "how is that even possible, I feel so normal?!" :P

cg86 · 16/01/2020 19:58

@mimmi91 I totally get what you mean about feeling normal. I still can't believe it and keep looking at the tests just to make sure.

SleeepyyHead · 16/01/2020 20:55

I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and I can't actually believe how normal I feel! But it's so reassuring to see most of you feel normal too. I wonder what the 5th week is going to bring for me

Carouselfish · 16/01/2020 23:18

Is this the first DC for you? It's my second and so I seem to be instantly pushing the waistband of my work clothes! Totally different symptoms to first too.

mimmi91 · 17/01/2020 06:33

First DC for me (also first pregnancy) so all this feels so newww!!!

4+5 today, and my HCG line is getting stronger, score!! Hopefully not long left until it's just as dark as the control line Grin

Does anyone know when you can consider yourself out of the woods for a chemical...? I've heard various things, but am very keen to believe one theory that says that it usually happens before 5w, and that the main symptoms (other than bleeding of course) is that the HCG doesn't rise (ie line doesn't get darker, but lighter) on PG tests...

LaurenL7 · 17/01/2020 06:49

Happy Friday ladies! Here's to another really slow day at work procrastinating about being pregnant 😂

First DC for me too!

I'm not too sure on the chemical pregnancy. I read 5 weeks myself but I don't know if the signs can be related to light lines on a pregnancy test.

Bubble29 · 17/01/2020 07:35

Happy Friday! @LaurenL7 I agree, here is to another day refreshing this app 🤣

Out of interest when are you planning on telling parents/in-laws?

I'm in two minds whether just to tell them as if anything was to go wrong I'd appreciate their support. Or just to hold out until after the scan. But again, if anything was to go wrong it's just another difficult conversation to have just further down the line.

Thoughts welcome.

mimmi91 · 17/01/2020 07:39

@Bubble29 I'm going to tell my mum today (at 4+5). I can't lie to her any longer, and she will be a great support no matter what.

Not sure about rest of the family though. At around 7w it'll be my sister's birthday ; I'd love to tell them then!!

@LaurenL7 happy Friday to you too! Thank god I'm working from home today, I'll be able to surround myself with music and background TV noises :)

Beth2806 · 17/01/2020 07:51

Happy Friday ladies! I’m a TA so the days go quite quick for me luckily. Not much time to think about anything but definitely needing to pop to the toilet more & I’m struggling to keep my eyes open by 6:30pm! 😬

I think I’ve messed up my dates, so confused! The first day of my last period was 10th December.. I worked it out at 5+3 but downloaded the Flo app & that says 6+3! I guess I’ll just have to wait til I have a date through for the scan to have a better idea!

Hope your all okay ladies xx Enjoy your day xx

LaurenL7 · 17/01/2020 08:02

@Beth2806 oh that's strange, I'd have you at 5+3 too but maybe I'm calculating wrong!

You're so lucky your days go quickly and I totally agree; I can barely keep my eyes open too.

@bubble29 my mum already knows, I couldn't resist telling her almost immediately and she's a midwife at my doctors so I didn't want her to find out that way.

I think I'm going to tell the rest of my immediate family and OH's family in stages based on a few birthdays that are coming up. I'll be 8-10 weeks depending on the different birthday dates.

I totally understand that it can be a horrible conversation to have if something goes wrong, but we figured that we'd want them to know anyway so we may as well tell them so they can get excited too!

I'd just say do what feels right for you xxx

@mimmi91 the NHS consider everything up to 6 weeks as a chemical, not a mc if a pregnancy is lost.

Leadust92 · 17/01/2020 08:34

Hi all,

We told our immediate family last night. I’m only 4+2 but I go away for the night with the girls in 2 weeks and will have to tell them as they’ll figure it out when I’m not drinking. So we thought it was only fair our family should know before them. If anything was to happen I would tell them anyway because we’d need the support. We did say it’s very early and please don’t start buying anything yet haha.. my mum has wanted a grand baby for so long so her reaction was amazing Smile Glad to hear most of you aren’t suffering too much yet, I only have some cramping and a couple of waves of nausea, seem to have lost my appetite but I think that is because I’m so in shock still haha! How are you all this morning?

sportyfanatic · 17/01/2020 09:02

@Beth2806 my LMP was 11/12/19 and I’m 5wks + 3 on Flo. In settings and pregnancy mode you can change display to either current (6wks) or completed (5wks). It’s confusing!

mincedpea · 17/01/2020 10:37

Happy Friday everyone! Haha, yes, another day refreshing MN and Googling away!

Had my HCG blood test results back and they were normal, phew, so the Clearblue tests haven't lied to me! Someone on another thread shared this site with Beta HCG levels, might be of interest to people: www.betabase.info/

Now mulling over the "when to tell people" question again. I can keep using the dry January excuse for a bit longer, but come Feb, people will start asking questions. That said, I work in a team of boys, so maybe they won't even notice?!

So pleased to hear the positive reactions from other people's families, especially yours @Leadust92, your mother must be thrilled!

Still waiting for symptoms to appear. The only one I can use for reassurance (apart from more POAS, which I am trying to avoid) is my average resting heart rate, which has gone up by about 8-10 beats in the last week. Has that happened to anyone else?

mincedpea · 17/01/2020 10:49

Also, any recommendations for pregnancy vitamins? I am still taking my pre-conception ones, oops! Hopefully that's not doing any harm.

LaurenL7 · 17/01/2020 11:51

I've been looking out for changes in my heart beat too as I read about this but mine seems to be pretty similar at the moment, so not much to report on yet.

I've just finished my pre-conception pregnacare vitamins but pretty sure I read on the leaflet that you're fine to carry on taking these until they've finished. I think there's pretty much the same thing in them anyway. I've moved onto the original pregnacare vitamins now but not sure exactly what's in them aside from folic acid. My mum (midwife) said I don't really need anything else at this point, so I'm just rolling with that Smile

@sportyfanatic Ah!! That’s where I was going wrong 😂 I am 5+4 weeks! I have awful trapped winds pains today 🙈🙈

cg86 · 17/01/2020 12:32

I'm taking prenatal vitamins which say you can take pre conception and also during pregnancy. I'm supplementing with vitamin D. Most of us are probably Vit D deficient and so it's worth taking a supplement to make up for that especially in pregnancy. Grin

mimmi91 · 17/01/2020 13:19

@cg86 I've been looking into vitamin D as well, but keep getting scared off when I read labels saying "if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a doctor before taking this" !!

I have found vitamin D "oils" on amazon which seem quite nite ; I'm so sick of swallowing pills. It's basically your full dose in 1 single drop... Has anyone tried this??
