Hi girls!

Recently found out that I’m pregnant and based on my last period I think I should be 4 weeks today! Just wanted to start a thread to see if there’s anyone else who’s in the same boat?

I’m so excited but also extremely nervous about the thoughts of a miscarriage so just wanting to reach out to people who are at a similar stage :)

Thanks! Xx

Congratulations all Smile
I'm 4+2 today, found out last Thursday!

mimmi91 · 14/01/2020 15:38

@Bumblelion20 congrats! We're cycle twins then, am also 4+2 today :) Many of our dates are sooo similar on this thread, I love it :D

@LaurenL7 yes I also keep thinking mine aren't getting darker ; but when I compare them side by side they actually do (esp compared to my original BFP strip haha!). I also enter them in my Femometer app, and it does recognise HCG level rises... Fingers crossed our big fat line appears soon! That would at least reassure me that a chemical pregnancy might be out of the way...

mimmi91 · 14/01/2020 15:51

BTW how old are you all? :) And did you TTC for long before BFP?

I'm 28, my husband too. BFP on 1st cycle, so feel like it was a fluke that's bound to go wrong Confused
But people can obv get pregnant straight away and still have healthy pregnancies, so I don't know why I'm obsessing so much...

Carouselfish · 14/01/2020 17:21

I'm 39 and trying to conceive for one month! And by trying I mean sex a couple of times a week without contraception. So not trying hard! Going to find out if HCG levels going well tomorrow. What's POAS? I'm so out of touch with acronyms!

Carouselfish · 14/01/2020 17:23

Oh! Just realised what it means! No, I did two and they were super fast and dark. HCG was 200ish yesterday. Off to check it tomorrow at hospital.

Chanel05 · 14/01/2020 17:49

I'm 30 and was ttc since June 2018.

LaurenL7 · 14/01/2020 18:06

I’m 29 and we were TTC for 1 cycle. I was monitoring my ovulation with the clear blue digital tests but never in a million years did I expect to get pregnant straight away. I do feel incredibly lucky as I’d convinced myself that it would take a while; I’m pretty certain I have endometriosis but that’s another story!

If all goes well I could end up sharing my 30th with my little one; either that or being very heavily pregnant so not great planning there 😂

@Carouselfish I don’t know if I’m being daft here but how do you know what your HGC levels are? Xx

@mimmi91 I'm 28 too! Came off my combined pill in November and we decided just to see what happens!
Hoping all goes well for all of us Smile

mimmi91 · 14/01/2020 18:20

Wow I'm impressed to see that many of us have conceived very fast :)
To be fair, I was monitoring my ovulation by doing cheap internet OPK strips, and DTD every day for a week leading up to OV :)

Very surprised that it happened so quickly, but sooo happy!!

mimmi91 · 14/01/2020 18:30

By the way! I've gotten a bit ahead of myself, and booked my first pregnancy appointment... Things are probs a bit different here in France, but they recommend the very first appt to happen between 8-12 weeks... Boo!
So well I've followed that recommendation, and have booked my 1st appt with a gyno at the hospital I'd like to give birth in... on the 12th of February (by then I'll be 8+3)... Feels sooooo far away...

LaurenL7 · 14/01/2020 20:39

Oh wow that is organised. I totally understand though, it’s too exciting not to get ahead of yourself, I’m the same.

I’m hoping to book my first midwife appointment on the 10th Feb as I’m off work that day and so is my OH. I’ll be exactly 8 weeks to the day if all goes well 😊

I couldn’t help myself and did another POAS tonight 🙈 The line was the darkest I’ve had, basically the same colour as the control line! I really need to chill out and stop taking them now 😂 xx

mimmi91 · 15/01/2020 06:58

@LaurenL7 yay, then we'd have our 1st appt around the same time! :D
I also thought I'd book it early, as I gyno appointments in France go very fast... Didn't want to have to wait til week 9 haha!

I've had to book in with a male gyno though, which is a first, and a bit scary!! But he's got such amazing reviews, so hopefully he'll make me feel more at ease than previous female gynos I've had...

Congrats on the dark HCG line!! That must feel really comforting :) Mine was also a bit darker this morning, but not yet as dark as the control line... Hopefully that'll happen in the next few days :)

Carouselfish · 15/01/2020 08:02

Only know levels as hospital did blood test. Concern it was ectopic. Find out this morning...

mimmi91 · 15/01/2020 08:20

@Carouselfish, fingers crossed that all is well for you!! Why is there any concern for ectopic? Have you had any weird symptoms?

Harri87 · 15/01/2020 09:11

How do you guys know what your hgc levels are and do you have to keep doing tests? I didn't even realise this!

I found out on new years eve, we were planning on going out and realised I hadn't had my period in a while (it's usually all over the place so I didn't think much) so thought we might aswell do a test, not expecting to be pregnant. We ended up doing 3 tests and they were all positive!

I'm finding it hard to get used to it to be honest. Everyone seems so happy and excited but I'm just worried about everything! I've had cramps and sickness which have stopped me from doing much this week, I'm worried it's always going to be like this. We were also planning to move to Europe this year but now we have no idea what were going to do...'

Bubble29 · 15/01/2020 09:35

@Harri87 I'm the same, I can't get excited yet because I'm too worried about everything.

Sorry I can't answer to original question, I'm intrigued to know the answer though.

Booona19 · 15/01/2020 09:53

@Harri87 no you don't have to keep doing tests at all, some people just do them to see the positive line getting darker as a bit of reassurance. As for the HCG levels, you can ask your doc to do a blood test and it measures how much HCG is in your blood and you can ask for a repeat test a few days later to see if the levels are rising as they should, I had mine done yesterday and will again next Tuesday, again it's just reassurance for me as I've had miscarriage in the past

mimmi91 · 15/01/2020 10:01

@Harri87 I only do the pregnancy tests every day because I found out so early (ie before my period was due) and so wanted to reassure myself that my HCG levels (pregnancy hormone) were going up (basically to rule out a chemical pregnancy, which is when you miscarry shortly after implantation, ie around the time you usually get your period).
Because you found out quite late (ie after your period was due) I'd say your chances of a chemical pregnancy are minimal :) But I'm no doctor, so I'm only saying this based on my research lol.
I don't know about knowing the exact levels though, I think only a blood test can confirm that. I'll probs only go in for a blood test in a couple of weeks, since I don't have any known health/fertility issues...

I've definitely already allowed myself to get excited, just because we've got a MUCH bigger chance of carrying a baby to term than to miscarry :)
If you think about it, we only had a 20% chance of actually conceiving each cycle ; and we still did. And now that our embys are implanted, we've got an 80% chance of them turning into real babies... I'd say the odds are in our favour :)
Plus it's better to stay positive about it!! However some days it's really hard, as the nerves easily take over...

Things that have made me super excited : daydreaming about telling my parents, siblings, friends, work... getting to buy pregnancy clothes... and of course, actually having a baby in 9 months (although this does seem far away still)...

debbs77 · 15/01/2020 10:01

Hi all!

I am 3+6 today, and found out last week with multiple early tests.

We had a MMC last year, which was a surprise baby, and totally threw us. After surgery in october, we decided that we would like to try for a baby. Unsuccessful the first month, but we did it the second month!

If all goes well (I'm feeling very confident it will!), then this will be our 1st baby together, my 7th, and his 2nd.

I am 42 and will be 43 by the time baby arrives xx

Bss20 · 15/01/2020 10:05

Hi ladies I am 4 weeks today and having period like cramps! Has anyone else had this? X

Bubble29 · 15/01/2020 10:53

@mimmi91 my twin! Hi again!

Thanks for your post, seeing those statistics was reassuring!

I can't wait to tell my parents and sister, don't know how I'm going to keep it from them for another 8 week!!! I think after being with my OH for 15 years and married for 3..... they've ruled us out of having a family 😂

mimmi91 · 15/01/2020 11:16

@Bubble29 hello!! I've also been with my DH for over 11 years, and I don't think anyone is expecting us to be expecting yet hehe.

I am finding the wait absolutely impossible to cope with. Every day goes by SO slowly. I want to tell everyone, but especially my mum - but am worried my dad would feel betrayed, and hence I'm debating...
I don't think I'll be able to wait until the 12week mark, it just feels sooo far away... How can we possibly make the weeks go by faster?!

debbs77 · 15/01/2020 11:19

The cramping is scary but normal!!

Crumbsinthecarpet · 15/01/2020 13:27

Hi can I join in? Got my bfp a few days ago, due around September 24th, feeling so nervous with every twinge and looking for reassurance!

Booona19 · 15/01/2020 14:43

@Crumbsinthecarpet Welcome and congrats on you BFP Smile
