Ah - see what I did there? [wink}
Hope it's ok to start a new thread. Computer couldn't cope with the old one.

Ok here, but am on operation not-go-mad today as have been feeling pretty down. Friend over this morning and will waddle into town this afternoon. This will render me exhausted and will then sleep/graze until bedtime.
Have also watched far too many baby progs on Discovery Health. Have become an armchair expert in giving birth ("ooh, you don't want to do that love"). Will get my come uppance soon enough!!!! Eek!!

No db yet coddy I'm afraid. Sigh.

It's a lovely clear afternoon here so I'll get a good look at the moon and start to howl the minute I see it. Of course, we'll have to do it again tmrw night as I think the full moon is technically tmrw night.

I'm off to sit on the sofa with a Terry's chocolate orange (well, it's almost pineapple...)

aaaaarrrrrroooooooooooooo! she said, all howling and wolf-like.

piglit -have you really turned the baby in a day? Well done. that makes me and beansprout look like right lollygaggers.

oh girls - I can almost smell the amniotic fluid in the air.

piglit · 13/10/2004 18:31

Db has been LOA for weeks and weeks and I think he only went back to back because I couldn't walk at the weekend with my pubic bone pain and therefore spent the whole time lolling about on the sofa. I'll find out for sure tmrw when I go for my sweep.

Meanwhile, back to some howling at the moon.

Turtle35 · 13/10/2004 18:40

Oh it's all happening now!! Florence it's only a matter of hours I am sure for the contractions to kick in.

Harman hang in there babe - the real thing will probably happen tonight

I am definitely going to be howling at the moon like a proper moose, it's only right, besides I was doing my last antenatal class at my hospital today and they are completely full so I was told definitely not to go into labour tonight or I will have to go somewhere else. I do believe the moon has something to do with it..

I also slept really well last night for the first time in ages, had a great reflexology session yesterday and I think that really helped.

~Good luck labouring Mooses

beansprout · 13/10/2004 23:22

Well, seems that dsd coming to live here is off the agenda for now. She was supposed to come over tonight but didn't show and didn't even call us to let us know. Took dp out to dinner instead which was lovely.

Hope we all sleep well (esp. glad you did Turtle). Of the original October meece (and no offence as you Sept guys are very honorary ones) we have had one (our lady of Toots) in nearly two weeks.... Come on Florence!! Clearly, first timers like myself and Piglit simply can't be relied upon
We need to do some serious moon howling my meecy friends!

I am hoping Harman does the business tonight!

cazzybabs · 14/10/2004 10:13

I hope you don't mind me popping in...am so excitied for you guys. Am sending you all thoughts of prostoglandins so you can join us on the born in Oct thread.

huppa · 14/10/2004 10:15

Ooh, it´s very quiet this morning. Does that mean I should be looking out for some birth announcements in the next couple of days?

I´ve just got back from the doctor. Cervix is 1-2cm open and the head engaged - so things are looking promising.

I asked about the full moon theory. The doctor wasn´t sure but said changes in weather/air pressure have a significant impact on births. We´re due such a change here in Germany tomorrow - so let´s see what happens.

geogteach · 14/10/2004 10:33

Begining to think I should go and join the due in Nov thread! Even the man who is supposed to fit the bathroom floor hasn't turned up can't get anything done on time!

Turtle35 · 14/10/2004 10:34

Huppa fantatstic news, you won't be long now. Start howling my Moose friend and have a long relaxing bath.

I thought I was in labour last night. However being a first timer I wasn't sure. This is how it went;

seriously painful period pains around my lower tummy and into my back and down my thighs, kept coming back every hour or so and then would ease off, the pain was strong enough for me to wake DH and turn on the light and say oh dear I think this is it and then it subsided. I have had very little sleep now and feel exhausted but no more period type pains

Does that sound like a false start???

piglit · 14/10/2004 11:14

I had the same Turtle - period pains woke me at 3 but then nothing. Got my sweep this afternoon - yuk - so I'm going to eat a whole pineapple right now and see if that does the trick.

Turtle35 · 14/10/2004 11:23

Piglit, at least you know it will be one step closer to having db!! are you all ready to go if sweep works straight away? my mw told me that they can actually break the bag of waters when they do a sweep if the sack is low enough.

Oh good luck, I hope it's not to painful for you. Please let us know how you get on afterwards.

pupuce · 14/10/2004 11:35

Turtle, why would you want to break the bag of water?????? This is what helps the birth to be gentle on mother and baby,.... Mears has said this many times... avoid braking the bag if you can! However a false start is not necessarily a bad thing Turtle, it helps build your endorphins (natural pain killers)... the trick is to rest/sleep during the day when you are not having these pains. As this is your first you don't have a toddler to contend with so you shouild find an hour or two to have a nap! Good luck

Turtle35 · 14/10/2004 12:20

thanks pupuce will always take advice from the pros!! I didn't really mean that breaking the waters was good, I meant it's happened in the past which could speed up the process as a sweep doesn't always work first time. Is that right?

Any news of Harman?

pupuce · 14/10/2004 12:27

She is still pregnant
I am against sweep because I feel they are an induction and as such can get your labour going quickly without much respite (and that's not ideal and can lead to a failed induction)... I can understand women having a sweep if they are very close to 42 weeks - personnally I wouldn't.

Turtle35 · 14/10/2004 13:35
