Ah - see what I did there? [wink}
Hope it's ok to start a new thread. Computer couldn't cope with the old one.

Ok here, but am on operation not-go-mad today as have been feeling pretty down. Friend over this morning and will waddle into town this afternoon. This will render me exhausted and will then sleep/graze until bedtime.
Have also watched far too many baby progs on Discovery Health. Have become an armchair expert in giving birth ("ooh, you don't want to do that love"). Will get my come uppance soon enough!!!! Eek!!

Piglit that is rotten news about baby turning. Please, do all the all fours and birthing ball stuff you can. It really is worth trying to get that baby to turn.

Hi everyone else. Thinking of you all, particularly strongly at about 4.40am today. Did anyone notice?

Two and a half agonising days are now over. Please don't get an infected episiotomy. If you have stitches at all - don't do what I did and start poncing about in trousers, down to the corner shop and that. Get your nup out in the open air to keep dry. Basically lie on a towel and waft. Lecture over.

Oh and put aside a notebook. I've started writing down all Mel's feeds and the times I've taken my antibiotics. I swear I would forget my own name atm if I hadn't written it on the front!

Turtle35 · 11/10/2004 21:06

Oh Toots how awful, you poor poor thing, you must be taking it easy for at LEAST a week before trotting off to any shops!! Lots of sitz baths for you then. I was wide awake at 4.30 this am wishing DB would stop squirming and giving me so much horrible pain. The last two weeks have been the longest of my life I think.

Geogteach I love your jinxing idea and think I will do the same, I have gardners coming around on Thursday but they can still work in the garden if I am not here, I need to find something where I must be in the house.....any ideas - something to do with nesting would be good besides bloody plumbing problems with toilets.

piglit · 12/10/2004 08:16

Toots - what a nightmare.

Are you using arnica in the bath? A doctor friend of mine swears by it for sore nups post birth. In fact she told me to start taking it AND bathing in it from my due date. I'll definitely follow your advice and I hope you feel better soon.

samuella · 12/10/2004 09:38

Hello, I have just found this group, I'm awaiting 3rd baby....expected 24th. Long gap, have got a teenager too! have been adjusting to life at home after stopping work couple weeks ago. Teenager thinks I am v lazy. Anyone else been told to get blood sugar test to check for gestation diabetes? I am getting tmw

florenceuk · 12/10/2004 09:46

Toots sounds horribly painful - there's a good reason for the "traditional" lying in period of 10 days or so when you can just waft around in dressing gown.

Hi Samuella!

for those with babies needing turning and natural induction... do try a reflexologist or acupressurist... ve have vays of getting baby to do whats right!! and its a nice thing to have done at this point

here for more details .

Bibiboo · 12/10/2004 09:54

Bean, thats good news about baby's position, you will go before next Wed, with collective Moose Power willing you on

Florence, I finally got hold of series 1 of 24 for free - ha! Lovefilm.com gave us a months free trial of dvd rental, so we've watched about 3 hours a night since Saturday - Boo loves the tension and kicks me quite a lot when Jack's being double hard

Thanks for the support ladies, am sure baby will come out one way or another, seeing midwife this pm - is it worth me asking for a sizing type scan just in case? If the baby is going ot be too big for me, and I have to have a section, I'd much rather it was elective than emergency ... will they indulge me or pooh-pooh the notion?

piglit · 12/10/2004 09:56

Thanks Rosie - definitely worth giving it a go. I have been on all fours for what seems like hours but I'm not sure if it's worked yet.

Bibiboo · 12/10/2004 09:57

Also, wrecked bathroom yesterday in attempt to bring on labour - basically took everything that wasn't fitted out and started scraping walls etc so now it looks a right mess - have period type pains today too - am keeping my fat moose fingers crossed for some more movement - for myself and everyone else who wants out this week.

Turtle35 · 12/10/2004 10:30

Had the worst night sleep I think ever last night, have been wide awake since 4.00 am in agony, I have tried everything and feel like I am at my wits end. I am seeing my m/w today and think I might beg for induction even though I still have two weeks to go. I am sure she will say no but I am not sure what else to try any more, I feel crippled and can barely walk. Sorry to be so depressing but this is getting the better of me now.

Welcome Samuella - you are not lazy you are about to have a baby. Tell your teenager that one day they will realise this (boy or girl)?

beansprout · 12/10/2004 10:34

Hi and welcome Samuella!! I had glucose test a few weeks ago. It's become pretty standard but apparently it's only really a concern if a close blood relative is diabetic. Good luck!

Have to say, am a miserable old Bean today but collective moose power is helping. On top of all this miserable waiting, dp wants us to consider dsd (nearly 17) moving in with us. She wants to leave her mums and go into a hostel which is obviously a bad option. She is very, very hard to live with though and I don't know if I could manage. What to do? Argh!! I keep bursting into tears at the thought of it all but can't and don't want to say to dp that we can't offer that option. I never liked Scruples anyway... always preferred Trivial Pursuit.....

With a bit of luck I will go into labour which will take my mind off it all for a bit!!

Fingers crossed for some moose action today. Has anyone heard from Distracted? We are thinking of you D xx

Turtle - was up from 3-6am myself but I was fretting, not in pain. You poor thing - this is just getting worse and worse for you and I totally agree that you should have a serious chat with the midwife and ask just what could be done. We tolerate a lot of "aches and pains" but this places you in a different league. Best of luck and a huge hug in the meantime xxx

piglit · 12/10/2004 10:55

Turtle - ask to see a consultant if necessary. My pains have gone (for now) and I suspect that it was made worse by db moving round. I had decided at the weekend that I would insist on induction if the pain continued as I couldn't even stand up properly.

Good luck with the m/w.

nailpolish · 12/10/2004 11:12

welcome samuella - youll get lots of support and sympathy from the ladies here.

beansprout - what you dont need just now is stress and that sounds like a lot. families are hard work sometimes arent they?! hope everything runs smoothly for you maybe your dsd would be an extra pair of hands with the baby??????? xxx

turtle - ive been having some problems too but not as much as you by the sounds of it with pain and my mw said early induction was an option - 1 week early. just beg and cry and she will not say no. ive heard induction can be difficult but then at least you will have it over and done with?

good luck everyone and maybe we will have another baby today! xxxx

geogteach · 12/10/2004 11:38

Well i've been to hospital this morning - baby is back to back aaaaaaah! All fours was reocomended. Midwife tried a sweep but thought baby wasn't yet low enough for it to work. She seemed quite down to earth and took notice of my history, she has written copious notes about not being allowed to push for 3 hours this time and has recomended that if baby hasn't turned by the time I go in that I go straight for epidural. Thinking being that a long relatively painless labour will probably be preferable to a shorter one that still results in intervention, I think I probably agree with her here. Anyway my induction is booked for 8am Sunday morning if it has happened by then so at least there is deadline now!
Hope everyone is feeling better as the day progresses, going for a lie down now, i've already finished one of the books I bought to take into hospital in the event of an induction!

motherinferior · 12/10/2004 11:47

Bean babe, I seriously don't think you can have dsd around at the moment. She is just too hard work, and you need to dedicate your energies - and DP's - Beanwards. I also think this is NOT the time to have that discussion (although I appreciate that events are presumably forcing DP's hand). AND you have no room for her.

I think on consideration this may be time for a complete 'lalalala, not listening, will not talk about it now' strategy. You have enough on your plate. xxxxxxxxxxxx

nailpolish · 12/10/2004 12:00

geogteach - sounds awful for you ill keep my fingers crossed baby moves. epidural sounds good to me.

ive just had a mini panic - what does a show look like anyone? never had one last time

nailpolish · 12/10/2004 12:39

anyone?

motherinferior · 12/10/2004 12:41

Someone described it as a 'jelly egg' which was pretty accurate in my case - with some blood - but it could just be a bit of bleeding too.

nailpolish · 12/10/2004 12:42

what if there is no blood? sorry if this sounds disgusting

nailpolish · 12/10/2004 12:43

ps thank you x

motherinferior · 12/10/2004 12:43

Think that's still a show - technically it is the mucus plug coming away, blood a side-product I think.

nailpolish · 12/10/2004 12:45

omg! what happens now (wait and see i suppose is the answer!)
