Ah - see what I did there? [wink}
Hope it's ok to start a new thread. Computer couldn't cope with the old one.

Ok here, but am on operation not-go-mad today as have been feeling pretty down. Friend over this morning and will waddle into town this afternoon. This will render me exhausted and will then sleep/graze until bedtime.
Have also watched far too many baby progs on Discovery Health. Have become an armchair expert in giving birth ("ooh, you don't want to do that love"). Will get my come uppance soon enough!!!! Eek!!

Thanks for the update Pupuce!! Keeping our fingers crossed...

All quiet on the North West London front. Did sleep well though so feeling irritatingly perky today.
Piglit - am really pleased that your efforts are paying off, you are a fine specimen of a moose my friend.
I think we may have to report Sooz missing in action?!

OK guys - my waters have broken (I think) but not much else happening. Have rung DH to tell him to come home and DS is off to childminders. So obviously time to come on Mumsnet!

huppa · 13/10/2004 09:43

How exciting - hope everything goes well

pupuce · 13/10/2004 09:54

Hi Florence
You know that if your waters have broken you may well end up induced if you go to hospital to soon (they like to induce after 24 hours... protocols being not up to date with latest medical evidence).... you can saefly wait up to 96 hours (unless someone gives you a vaginal examination during that time). Contractions usually start within 24 to 48 hours...
Good luck...

piglit · 13/10/2004 10:00

Yippee - good luck Florence...

Bellie · 13/10/2004 10:02

Hi all - still here - had really bad period type cramps at 5am this morning and started thinking that something may be happening - and nothing since! Ho hum! Still I have 10 days to go until due date so can't really complain!

florenceuk · 13/10/2004 10:13

Thanks Pupuce. No sign of anything really happening apart from constant leaking - poor DH has deadline today but I told him to come home just in case I need to go. Midwives not called back, not sure what to do with myself now - maybe go and do some packing!

beansprout · 13/10/2004 10:20

Oooh Florence, I'm all excited!! Good luck!! And well done for logging on to tell us lot!! That's our moose!

florence thats very exciting you should def go and pack a bag. your baby will be here soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

piglit you are working very hard, you deserve to have an easy labour, sometime bloomin' soon.

i feel mingin' today, really sick and sore. dd wanted chocolate shreddies for brekkie and i nearly hurled. had loads more show yesterday so im convinced thats what it was. but it doesnt mean anything re time scale tho.

piglit · 13/10/2004 10:37

Sounds very promising though nailpolish...

Bellie · 13/10/2004 10:38

Florence sounds like this could be the time! Nailpolish sounds like db is starting to move for you too!

samuella · 13/10/2004 11:19

Hello again, it is great to hear you all in all the detail, no-one else really wants to know do they. I have been nesting like mad for 2 weeks and now begining to relax but no signs of labour - less than 2 wks to go. Although i did have strong contractions one night for an hour, then they just stopped. Anyone else going to UCH?

Personally I am going to try to avoid induction - they say sex (yes....hormones), raspberry leaf tea, cleaning the bath (exercise and getting baby's head down in right position) etc all help bring on labour if you baby is about done anyway. Good luck to you all, I havent yet got used to your names.

geogteach · 13/10/2004 11:44

Just checking in. Florence with DS1 my waters went and I went in, I was sent home to rest and eat for 24 hours and then come back for induction, by the time I got there I was already 3cm and didn't need to be induced so you could be lucky, good luck.

beansprout · 13/10/2004 12:03

A very wise friend (Piglit) has reminded me that it's a full moon tomorrow and this usually means an increase in the number of births. Make what you will of that but the birth centre I am hoping to go to actually has the moon phase chart up on the wall so there must be something in it.

There's a rumour that I might actually give birth at some point, but I don't believe it myself.

Good luck Florence!!
Turtle - was thinking of you last night as my hip finally gave up on me - how are you today?

OP posts:
piglit · 13/10/2004 12:26

I have started to plan my Christmas around still being pregnant....

Lots of people have told me that stuff about the full moon so you never know - there might be something in it. I might also try howling at the moon this evening and see if that works.

codswallop · 13/10/2004 12:51

p no baby yet?
may have a meet up nest week.

beansprout · 13/10/2004 12:57

Lol at moon howling - I just might join you. In fact, shall we all do it tonight (just for badness)?

Bean is very, very low. In fact, I think I may be giving birth, just very, very slowly indeed, sort of coming out by stealth? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part? (Doh!)

codswallop · 13/10/2004 13:02

oi! piggy

nailpolish · 13/10/2004 14:29

piglit you made me laugh

good job cos all i want to do today is cry and cry for no reason

i burnt dd's chicken dippers at lunchtime and you would have thought it was the end of the world i was sobbing so much feeling SO fed up today

motherinferior · 13/10/2004 14:41

Nailpolish, that is a GOOD SIGN.

Bean and Piggiwig, get howling.

nailpolish · 13/10/2004 14:42

if you say so, motherinferior!

my dd is being such a well behaved wee girl today it just makes me worse cos she keeps stroking my hair and asking me if im ok, giving me kisses

nailpolish · 13/10/2004 14:43

here i go again

beansprout · 13/10/2004 14:47

Nailpolish - I was like this yesterday, just sobbing like the world had ended. Hormones should be a banned substance but in the meantime please know that this feeling will pass and it's entirely normal to feel a million overwhelming things at this stage of things.

Would a jaffa cake help? I have some here...

Now, what time does the moon rise?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 13/10/2004 14:53

chocolate is a brilliant idea thanks

samuella · 13/10/2004 15:39

Hi, choc sounds good, much better than those old wives tales about gross things like sex and raspberry tea.

Does anyone else worry about transport ie getting to hospital(UCH for me) in time and stuff like whether to take car, try to get taxi, or check bus routes as per DP flippant advice? 3rd baby so its could be quick everyone says.
