Ah - see what I did there? [wink}
Hope it's ok to start a new thread. Computer couldn't cope with the old one.

Ok here, but am on operation not-go-mad today as have been feeling pretty down. Friend over this morning and will waddle into town this afternoon. This will render me exhausted and will then sleep/graze until bedtime.
Have also watched far too many baby progs on Discovery Health. Have become an armchair expert in giving birth ("ooh, you don't want to do that love"). Will get my come uppance soon enough!!!! Eek!!

??????????????

Turtle35 · 12/10/2004 13:36

Nailpolish was it a show?? I hate to say this but it could still be some time before DB makes an appearance but in any event it's a really good sign!! won't be long.

Thanks for the support everyone, sometimes I feel so selfish for wanting an induction and believe me I would rather it happened naturally but now!! I just can't continue with the agony I have been in and feel I could take on anything at this stage. I am Moose hear me roar!

Bean I have to say I really agree with MI on the idea of DSD moving in, I think it will be far too stressful when you have baby bean to consider. It sounds a bit like a serious attention getter by her threatening/wanting to move out now just as you are about to give birth.

Am off to m/w now for a bit of crying and begging and will report back in an hour or two. By the way, just one more thing to moan about....got plumber in this am to fix toilet blockage and ended up spending £400.00 - I am still in shock and feel like we have been majorly taken to the cleaners. It wasn't a straightforward job but still - OMFG.....

nailpolish · 12/10/2004 13:38

dont know turtle but i think i hope so! thank you x

piglit · 12/10/2004 13:50

Bean - for what it's worth I agree 100% with the wise words of Motherinferior.

Distracted · 12/10/2004 14:09

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back on here! Just got home last night. Baby Samuel was born at 6.54 pm Saturday night after having my waters broken at 3.30 pm.

I went in initially at 8 am and was sent home again as they were too busy, but got back in the afternoon and it all happened amazingly quickly!

I have to say for those of you waiting it may be just as well you didn't give birth in the last few days as, if where you live is anything like round here, babies are being born left, right and centre! All the hospitals are absolutely jam packed full.

Anyway, my little boy is absolutely gorgeous, I'm really thrilled with him and he got here in the end. I will post all the gory details on a birth announcement later and also come back with some labour and birth tips, but as he's currently asleep I'm going to grab some food and maybe a lie down.

Geogteach - by the way I was told ds was posterior when I had my waters broken, and certainly all my contractions were really in my lower back and bum, but he obviously turned during labour and it was all very quick, so there is hope! On the other hand epidurals are fantastic and I had decided to have one myself, but it all happened too quickly. Details to follow at some point!

huppa · 12/10/2004 14:09

Turtle - hope all goes well this afternoon. By the way, your not being selfish at all.

Bean - I too agree with motherinferior. A new baby turns your life upside down so completely to begin with and I don´t think you´ll have the energy to deal with dsd aswell.
I´m sure your sick of people suggesting ways to bring on labour, but for what it´s worth cleaning windows worked for me last time. Not that standing on a step ladder, stretching above your head is to be recommened at this stage of pregnanacy of course. I wasn´t actully trying to induce labour - I just had an overwhelming compulsion to clean windows.

Toots - I sympathise fully. Had that last time round and it was pretty painful, but it did clear up really quickly once I started taking antibiotics.

Harman - I had really itchy boobs a couple of months ago. Lathering loads of moisturising cream into them for a couple of days seemed to do the trick.

piglit and geogteach - hope those babies turn.

Welcome to Samuella

nailpolish - maybe you´ll be next

Absolutely nothing happening here. A few braxton hicks, but nothing more.

huppa · 12/10/2004 14:12

Sorry posts crossed distacted.

Fantastic news
Welcome to baby Samuel. Glad that everything went well - I know we´ve all been thinking of you in the past few days.
By the way how big was he?

nailpolish · 12/10/2004 14:12

congratulations distracted - what a lovely name for your wee boy. well done too xx

florenceuk · 12/10/2004 14:18

Wow so much happening on this thread. Congrats Distracted - and nailpolish????

Turtle, completely understand if you are in pain - another fortnight of sleeplessness, and you won't be able to enjoy the birth at all, let alone the aftermath.

Geogteach - babies can turn during labour so hopefully all goes well for you. I am slightly worried over DB's position as well - but will just have to wait and see.

Bean - agree with everyone else - small babies are absolutely all-consuming and demanding, and you need some space to concentrate - even if it is just for the first few months while you catch your breath and wonder what is happening.

No sign of anything from me anyway - just some BH. Getting sick of everyone asking when it's due though!

nailpolish · 12/10/2004 14:29

dont know if it was a show now - maybe i was just getting too excited it was only a spoonful with no blood. sorry is that too much info? florence - you are supposed to be before me!

beansprout · 12/10/2004 14:37

Distracted - congratulations on baby Samuel, that's fantastic news!!

Thanks to everyone re dsd. I think my position at the moment is that me and the Bean deserve a stable environment. Basically the relationship between dp and dsd is the complete opposite of that so unless they can sort some stuff out, it's just not viable. Felt really on the back foot and panicky but feel better now. Big thanks to the meece massive for your support.

Good luck to everyone who needs their db to turn and Turtle - we are all there ready to charge the midwife if she doesn't hear your moosey roar.

We seem to be forming an orderly queue for induction at the moment - anyone know how many preg actually do end with that?

congratulations, distracted!

Bellie · 12/10/2004 16:09

Congratulations distracted!
Sorry not been around for a while - have been frantically catching up with all my friends in RL as got it into my head that I won't be able to have long lesuirely lunches once db arrives.
Went to mw today and am 2/5 engaged - I took that as a good sign but not really sure now that I have thought about it?? I am also having period type cramps at irregular intervals. Does this mean that I am on the way for delivery without induction?? due 24th.
I do feel for all of you that are waiting as I am ready for db to make an appearance and if you have gone past due date must be very frustrating (sending good vibes to all of you)

Turtle35 · 12/10/2004 16:34

Fantastic News Distracted - we fellow Mooses have been cheering you on!! Samuel is lovely - how big?? Will look for your birth announcement.

Well no surprise, mw said "we don't like to induce before 40 weeks unless there is possibility of serious harm to mother or baby" I felt like saying someone else may get seriously harmed if they stand in my way!!

I tried everything but the best she will do is a sweep at 40 weeks on my dd and check me into hospital a few days after that for induction.
DB is 3/5 engaged in the correct position so maybe with a bit of luck she will come on her own!! I guess there is some reassurance that I wont go over more than a couple of days from DD.

Bellie welcome back!! it's been ages, you've got all the good signs there.

Florence when is your baby due

Bean I am pleased to read you sounding so positive.

Turtle35 · 12/10/2004 17:08

any one heard of Liquorice being good to induce labour?

Bellie · 12/10/2004 17:39

Turtle - I have heard it but no idea where from! Probably worth a try though

piglit · 12/10/2004 18:40

Congratulations Distracted and a lovely name by the way! You all make it sound soooo easy!!

Can we have another October baby by the morning please?? We're almost half way through the month already....

Toots · 12/10/2004 18:57

Piglit, turning the baby could take days. Really? Another waiting game, don't mind if you do, eh?

Turtle so sorry to hear you're in pain darling.

Sorry Bean's dp/dsd - but this is a no brainer. Toots says put a date in the diary four months from noW, and it is a no go subject in the mean time. And I mean NO GO SUBJECT .

beansprout · 12/10/2004 19:19

Haven't heard of liquorice (and was surfing for induction techniques at 4am this morning...) but worth a go old girl. Has there been any research into chocolate inducing labour? Shall we do some?

Piglit - will do what I can but I think Bean has other ideas. How are the cramps going Bellie?

Thanks Toots - can I tell dp you are actually v scary and that you live nearby?

i really believe there will be another baby by tomorrow morning

beansprout · 12/10/2004 22:37

Bellie? Harman? And where is Sooz?!!
Hope we all sleep well tonight (except anyone in labour, that's allowed).

Bibi - have you heard from your brother? Hope everything is ok.

huppa · 13/10/2004 08:33

Well I´m still here, but is anyone missing........?

piglit · 13/10/2004 08:53

OK - time for a roll call.

I'm still here - now a week late . However, db had a really good wriggle during my 3 and a half hours on all fours yesterday (my elbows are killing me) and seems to have moved most of the way back round. I have a friend coming for lunch today - I wonder if she'll mind if I spend the whole time with my bum in the air?

I hope everyone is well.

pupuce · 13/10/2004 09:02

Harman is still pregnant.... but had contractions in the night....she texted me.
