Ah - see what I did there? [wink}
Hope it's ok to start a new thread. Computer couldn't cope with the old one.

Ok here, but am on operation not-go-mad today as have been feeling pretty down. Friend over this morning and will waddle into town this afternoon. This will render me exhausted and will then sleep/graze until bedtime.
Have also watched far too many baby progs on Discovery Health. Have become an armchair expert in giving birth ("ooh, you don't want to do that love"). Will get my come uppance soon enough!!!! Eek!!

Oooh Bean, just realised you're due in like 6 days!!! I wish you a speedy and pain free birth so you can then reassure me that 'it's not that bad'. Don't go killing yourself this afternoon - take it easy.
If you're going to update the due list, I'm due on 16th not 19th as I said before, not that 3 days is going to make much of a difference, I still want it out!

Saw m/w yesterday who told me that after feeling my tummy the baby was a "fair size" and 3/5 (I'm assuming engaged?). When I asked what she meant by fair size, she said I think we're looking at about 8lb at the moment...FFS! I've got over 2 weeks left to go yet! And I'm not all that big a person myself. Okay, so I'm not a skinny waif type, but I'm only 5ft tall and the baby already seems to be spread out from my neck to my knees - can it get much bigger than this?!
Have banned self from Discovery Health as the baby programmes are making me antsy and destroying the illusion of a "beautiful, exciting day" the parentcraft midwife keeps painting. I know she's a big fat liar, but sooooo want to believe her...
I am off into town now to buy self some gossip mags and then show off hugely impressive bump at DH's school lunch time. Have a good day all

Toots · 29/09/2004 10:58

This is a nice big, open airy space. I'll take it.

Bit mad here too Bean. Feel capable of strange behaviour. Fortunately no-one is about to get on wrong end of it. Will have a sleep.

Turtle35 · 29/09/2004 11:02

Welcome back Harman great to see you have been back online and have a new place. I hope you feel happy there? are you ready for DB in 3 weeks, I think I am a few days after you.

I am going to attempt to go swimming, it's a bit embarassing going into the gym now when I am so huge, I think people are thinking to themselves, gosh the gym hasn't done her much good!! I just like the floating sensation and taking some of the weight off my back.

Toots I sigh all the time and DH keeps saying to me "what's wrong now"?!! I just reply I don't know..... I think this is driving him nuts.

I have antenatal class at hospital this afternoon and the woman who runs it is very funny, straight-up no holds-bar and tells it like it is which I love. Although I did NCT classes I am kind of doubling up on antenatal but hearing some things twice is no harm I think.

hope everyone has restful day grazing.

geogteach · 29/09/2004 11:37

My mum is picking up DS from pre school so I can have a peaceful afternoon but midwife phoned at 8.30 last night with scan appointmemnt for same time. Everyone is conspiring against me getting time on my own, yestaday both kids were at nursery but had to take them out early for DS hearing test which he failed again, now he has to have assessment for hearing aid and speech and language assessment and all first degree relatives (me, DH, DD and new baby) all have to be tested, woopee some more hospital appointments! Only good thing was that they did DD there and then and she passed!

Turtle35 · 29/09/2004 12:54

Geoteach sorry to hear your DS hasn't passed the hearing test. This must cause you a lot of concern? as if being pg isn't enough, you really have your hands full, lucky your Mum can help you at times. Hope your scan goes well, fingers crossed.

I had great intentions to go swimming today but felt soooo tired again, had to go lie down for an hour or so.

Any one else feeling exhausted? I get to the point where if I don't lie down I might faint. Is this lack of iron? Was tested for anemia two weeks ago but didn't hear back from midwife so assumed it was all ok? hmm

eyelash · 29/09/2004 13:44

Harman - great to hear from you again - great about the new house. But how are you feeling at the moment?

Geoteach - sorry to hear about ds. It must be stressful for you.

Still here and with due date tomorrow doubt anything will happen. Thought I was having twinges last night but in the end put it down to wind. Fully prepared for this baby to run the course in terms of going overdue.

Turtle35 · 29/09/2004 13:49

Oh eyelash, I will be sending positive labour thoughts to you this evening!! Have you tried any pineapple? how about a curry and a bit of .... not sure how desperate you are!!!!

In any case I hope it happens for you soon, 40 Weeks is just to damn long.

have been guzzling my rasperry tea but not to sure that does anything????

am off to finish packing that bloody bag.....

how many nappies should I bring??

beansprout · 29/09/2004 15:53

Good luck with your new home Harman, good to hear from you. Sorry too to hear about DS's hearing test Geogtech. How severe is his hearing loss?

Have indeed exhibited strange behaviour today, starting at 5.30am with sitting on my front room floor feeling overwhelmed and just sobbing. But, operation not-go-mad is helping and have been busy, which is helping. Am currently doing a passing impression of sane, much to dp's relief I suspect.

Bibi - Bean is also "oooh, big" according to doc. I have consistently been big for dates (av of 2 cm over) and am wondering just how this is going to work?! Then I remind myself that it means I will finally meet Bean and I feel so excited that I don't care!!

Turtle35 · 29/09/2004 16:23

Bean I so understand your anxiety. There are days where I feel so afraid of the pain, I know it's crazy cause the end result will be baby but I am dreading it.

I actually got some painful twinges this afternoon and got a bit excited and realised it was only wind....urghh

beansprout · 29/09/2004 16:42

"Dread" is the word Turtle. Knowing that I will experience more pain than I can possibly bear in only a few days is a v frightening prospect. Everyone says "ooh, you must be excited" but they just get the good bit (Bean) and it's just me that has to do the other bit.
That said, same as you, when I get some twinges or aches, I feel a lot calmer, so maybe Mother Nature will help us out after all? I really, really hope so (shudder).

OP posts:
geogteach · 29/09/2004 19:24

Well baby is in correct position, I can't possibly have time for any more scans before the delivery!

beansprout · 29/09/2004 22:42

Geogteach - yeeeeaaaahhhhh!!!

OP posts:
Turtle35 · 30/09/2004 10:53

Great news Geoteach, I wish I could get mine to move over to the left....

am off to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned, no doubt will be a bleeding mess but I know I won't have much time for teeth cleaning once DB arrives!

florenceuk · 30/09/2004 11:44

Congrats Geogteach!

feeling very tired and a bit sick. Not the best of days perhaps.

piglit · 30/09/2004 14:08

Sorry to hear we are all feeeling so low. I have just cried my eyes out whilst trying to have a bowl of soup for lunch. I have no idea why but I feel really rubbish and a bit sick. I also feel completely and utterly overwhelmed.

Can we all send each other good vibes?

eyelash · 30/09/2004 14:38

Sorry to hear about the mood changes but it is completely normal. Had tears in Sainsburys this morning when checkout person asked my due date and I said today. She was so excited and I found it overwhelming. FlorenceUK - is sickness a sign of labour?

Saw midwife this morning and baby is fully engaged and she did a (consented) internal and she said she would be surprised if i hadn't delivered in the next week or so as cervix favourable . It wasn't even that uncomfortable but we will see what will happen. So stripped beds today and set up an open fire ready to light for when I go into labour.

Sending out good vibes

florenceuk · 30/09/2004 15:37

Eyelash I wish! I think feeling sick was just a sign of feeling sick....

Today I sorted out the baby clothes and resolved to buy poor DB-to-be at least one new babygro.

melsmum · 30/09/2004 15:57

hi im due oct 17th and getting fed up. ive had a lot of pelvic pain the past 3-4 weeks and not been able to pick up my 2 year old dd without almost crying out. although saying that, the past 2 days its gone away! why do we worry when something is wrong then worry when theres nothing wrong?!!!! the midwife says if the pain in unbearable then i could be induced 1 week early if i want to. that sounded like heaven but then i worry that maybe i shouldnt interfere with nature and just bear it out til the baby comes on its own. what would you do?

Toots · 30/09/2004 15:58

Me too here with the queasy. And the tears. Boo-hooed through most of yesterday, and all over midwife who I'd never even met before. Spent all evening in bed, groaning and sighing. F* this is hard isn't it girls? But I join hands with you all and kiss you on your pudgy knuckles. Bought some cheap and cheerful pjs today for some kind of afterwards....

I do have fab news though. Did I say that on Tuesday my osteo tried maneovure I read about on Radical Midwives website to turn baby from posterior? Well blow me, it worked. I was pronounced LOA yesterday. Still going to do hands and knees and leaning forward stuff as I sure don't want db to move now. Bean, I really think the manoevure helped. I would be more than happy to give you to lunch at my place around an appointment with him (27 quid) and he is fab at any back stuff too.

Toots · 30/09/2004 16:01

Melsmum - induction was not a good move for me, if I'm honest. I'd want to be very sure, if I were you, that the baby were in an optimum position before considering it, and prepared to have an epidural. Obviously some people are absolutely fine with it.

melsmum · 30/09/2004 16:07

omg - you have put me off immediately! there is no way i want to have a epidural - sounds too scary. plus its a midwife led unit and i wouldnt be able to go there if i had epidural. phew thanks toots! good luck to everyone with the next few weeks/months!

Turtle35 · 30/09/2004 16:30

Toots, good news on DB moving around, fingers crossed DB stays put until ready to be born.

I am impressed with you osteo and might get the details from you. I am actually off to see a reflexologist in a few minutes to try and ease my back ache, my hips are really sore when I am trying to sleep also and my bloody heartburn is getting worse by the day.

Any one else had reflexology? I sure hope it's safe?

beansprout · 30/09/2004 17:19

Hi and welcome to Mels Mum and Toots - am chuffed to bits that db is LOA, that's just fab . Will call you re osteo!

Have had a very tearful few days but am feeling a bit better today although it can change pretty quickly. Am better if I get out and do stuff but it leaves me exhausted and I am aware that I need to rest as Bean could go at any time. Madness or exhaustion? Mmmm, these glamorous lifestyle options eh?

OP posts:
piglit · 30/09/2004 17:21

I have a confession - I have just spent the best part of 2 hours asleep on the settee. And bloody marvellous it was too.

Turtle35 · 30/09/2004 18:40

Why is everyone crying???? I am not!! makes a change from my pychotic state of mind a couple of months ago.

Just had reflex and it was ohhhh soooo goood. I am so relaxed and hope this will improve my back.

Piglit isn't it wonderful when you wake up after a long nap, you are that much closer to giving birth though - he he.

Bean DON'T exhaust yourself or little bean will think you aren't ready for him/her to arrive.
