Pregnancy after IVF

I thought I'd start this thread for anyone who's pregnant following IVF as there are some things that are only really relevant to IVF pregnancies, like certain medications. It would be good to have some people in a similar situation to talk to.

33wks with my first and we got lucky first time IVF fresh transfer :)

Hopingforbabyd · 26/08/2019 19:12

Hi ladies 😊 hope you don't mind me joining. We had our second round of ivf last month and I'm now 5weeks 5days. A couple of weeks ago just before we tested I knew things were going our way as I had lots of symptoms, I woke up each morning feeling sicky but it was more of a hunger sick. My nipples started to become sore and I just felt so different. Today I've woken up and feel like my sore boobs are tailing off a little and no more sick feeling just tired and a little hungry here and there. I'm so worried with my symptoms dropping. This is our first baby so I have no idea how to feel and just need a little comfort. We haven't got our viability scan until 9th September and our clinic just says to carry on taking meds (on pessaries and patches) x

Marmite83 · 26/08/2019 20:41

@Hopingforbabyd try not to worry, I know it's hard. I'm 5+6 and have no symptoms at all really. What I do have is most likely a side effect of the meds. I have to admit it's been worrying me too but just keep reminding myself that my hcg has been rising well and my progesterone level was good last time the clinic checked. My scan is on Friday so just working towards that atm. Symptoms quite often don't appear until 6-7 weeks so I'm hoping they'll arrive for me soon (crazy that I want to feel sick!). I was 6 weeks when the nausea started with my dd. Just take it a day at a time.

Good luck for your scan tomorrow @Tinypaws, I've got everything crossed for you!

@Marmite83 thanks so much for the reassurance it means so much. Hoping all goes well with your scan. I wish we had ours early, I'm getting a little panicky as our clinic do no tests after otd they just do a scan at 7/8 weeks. I keep telling myself we're less than 2 weeks now lol. It's so frustrating isn't it to know whether it's your body or if it's the meds. I'd never thought I'd ever wish to feel sick or have sore boobs before lol xx

Marmite83 · 28/08/2019 21:46

How's everyone doing? I'm 6+1 and still no symptoms. Feeling pretty anxious about the scan on Friday.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 28/08/2019 22:16

@marmite83 understandable you’re feeling anxious. Fingers crossed all will be ok.

I’m having weird days. Some days feeling really rough and sick and other days ok. Although I’ve had scan and I’m grateful for it but still finding it hard to relax. Just hoping that everything is ok in there! Spoke to my DH about having another scan between now and 12 weeks but he is dead against it. After talking it through I can see his point so just have to hang on a little longer!

Marmite83 · 28/08/2019 22:46

How far along are you now @Whatelsecouldibecalled? I think I'd have a scan every day if I could! I'm actually wishing for nausea now which is madness really!

OP posts:
Whatelsecouldibecalled · 28/08/2019 23:19

I’m 8+3 today. Be careful what you wish for! 😂

Marmite83 · 29/08/2019 07:13

@Whatelsecouldibecalled i know what you mean. The nausea with my dd was horrendous but it gave me a bit of peace of mind at least. My first pregnancy, I didn't really get nausea and it ended in a mmc so I'm just a bit anxious this one's going to go the same way.

OP posts:
Whatelsecouldibecalled · 29/08/2019 09:38

@Marmite83 yep I get it. On the days I feel ok I’m panicking gosh j shouldn’t be feeling ok and that it’s a bad sign 🤦‍♀️

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 29/08/2019 09:39

Oops typo should say panicking that I shouldn’t feel ok when I do

Scarlett555 · 29/08/2019 09:55

How is everyone getting on?

I was sick this morning! Hooray!

But have a blood clot in my leg :( Have to go back to hospital today for ultrasound to see if it's DVT.

Hopingforbabyd · 29/08/2019 10:14

My sicky feeling has come back today too! Yay! We are having an early reassurance scan today as my anxiety is through the roof! I feel really impatient going for one today as we are only 6weeks 1 day but I just need that little bit of hope before our viability scan in a couple of weeks x

Scarlett555 · 29/08/2019 10:17

Good luck everyone with the scans! Let us know how you get on.

@Hopingforbabyd we are exactly the same I am also 6+1 today.

jemmarowe · 29/08/2019 10:20

Hey everyone :)
Hope you're all ok
I'm 11+3 today. Have had 2 scans so far and all looking good!
I felt sick on and off from weeks 5-10, but mainly I was so tired I could hardly move. Since I've stopped taking progesterone I feel miles better; I don't even need to nap!!!!
I have a meeting with the obstetrician today, I've got brittle bone disease and in the last few years have fractured my pelvis twice and my spine twice, just from a short jog.... I don't know if I should push for a c section? Or what they might advise.... xxx

Hopingforbabyd · 29/08/2019 11:21

@Scarlett555 bump buddies 😍 thank you lovely I'll let you know how I get on. Feeling nervous! X

Hopingforbabyd · 29/08/2019 15:36

Saw the most beautiful flickering heart on our early reassurance scan. So pleased we went 🥰

Passionfruit20 · 29/08/2019 16:42

Oh hello! @Marmite83 I somehow totally missed this!!!! Thank you so much for setting up.
(And good to see you here too @TinyPaws)
I’m 6 weeks today after IVF, a few of us have been on the IVF thread for a while.

I have some symptoms, eg. Super super tired, sore boobs, a little bit of nausea, but it’s hard to know what’s the progesterone and what’s ‘real’. I’ve also had some bad, sharp pains in my abdomen for about a week. They were freaking me out, but my clinic FINALLY rang me back today and said it’s probably fine. They said I could go to a walk in for an early scan if I was worried, but I’m trying to hold out until my viability scan on 12 September.

Lovely to meet all the rest of you!

Hopingforbabyd · 29/08/2019 17:37

Lovely to find ladies going through the same thing, I wish you all such a happy 9 months! @Passionfruit20 I too feel the same and not sure if it's pessaries. The lady at the scan said some days there may be no symptoms others there may be it's just our bodies adjusting. I'm so glad I went for an early scan it has really settled my anxiety. Whilst she was scanning she shown me a little patch of blood next to the yolk sack and said that may be from implantation bleeding and sometimes it may be absorbed into the body again during pregnancy but if I do experience spotting that's possibly what it is from but to be sure to check with clinic. It put my mind at ease knowing that some spotting may happen even though it is so scary. I hope that gives you and anyone else some reassurance as I've been incredibly nervous, I still am and I think I will be till they're safe in my arms x

Ginandtonic31 · 29/08/2019 18:45

Hi, I just wanted to say I'm 12 weeks after ivf and have bled 3 times. I had a harmatoma which is a bruise/patch of blood so most likely from that. Last time I was checked it had gone luckily. I k ow bleeding is scary but unless it's red and painful it's usually ok.

Marmite83 · 31/08/2019 21:00

I had a similar experience when pregnant with my dd @Ginandtonic31, there was a sudden gush of bright red blood but no clots or cramps. Turned out I had a haematoma in my uterus that was bleeding. All turned out fine and my dd is now 3.

Had our early scan yesterday and after being told they could only see a pregnancy sac I got a bit upset so my consultant suggested we try again with another machine and we finally saw a perfect little heartbeat. Very relieved buy I'm still not experiencing much in the way of symptoms which is worrying me a bit. Hoping the symptoms ramp up soon to help put my mind at rest.

@Ginandtonic31 hey lovely! I remember you from the ivf thread I made back in March! Hope you and baby are doing well 🥰 x

Ginandtonic31 · 31/08/2019 23:41

Ah @Hopingforbabyd I remember you too! Nice to see you've had success too 😊 how are you doing? I've had a lot of scans and s seems to be ok. Got the 12-week scab at 13 weeks next week ☺️

Hopingforbabyd · 01/09/2019 00:03

@Ginandtonic31 thank you so much! I'm 6+4 weeks today and it's flying by. Crazy to think how long it's taken us both to get here and now it's here! I don't quite know what to do with myself but I'll embrace all the sore boobies and sickness. I'm doing okay, I had an early scan on Thursday and we saw a little heartbeat it was so reassuring. We have our viable 8 week scan on 9th and then will be discharged from the ivf clinic. I think then it will feel so real. So far I've had on off nausea and extreme tiredness, it's so nice to feel it to know all is as it should be. Bet you can't wait for your scan now?! Have you told family and friends yet? Hubby is eager to shout from the rooftops but I'm still cautious about it all x

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 01/09/2019 10:46

Hi how’s everyone doing?

Sorry tmi alert!....

I’m having a bit of a nervous time. Had a bleed yesterday after doing my pessaries. Was bright red then continued but when to dark red and then brown. Then passed two bits of tissue/clots. I’m beside myself. It seems to have calmed off a bit now and is just brown discharge. I have phone epau yesterday and earliest they could get me in is tomorrow 3pm.

I’m also really constipated. It’s an ordeal going to the loo and I feel the straining isn’t helping the situation.

Also all ‘symptoms’ have gone. No sore boobs and don’t feel sick anymore.

Feel in a right state 😫😫😫
