@sep30 tonic water for cramps (sadly without the gin)
14+1 today and apart from fairly well controlled reflux im back to normal. There is light at the end of the tunnel ladies!

Dinosauraddict · 04/09/2019 12:41

@sep30 I've been advised by clinic to have one isotonic drink a day to try and stop the leg and feet cramps. Seems to be helping a little.

Jesskir89 · 04/09/2019 19:14

Lovely scan pics ladies :) I've got mine next week when I'm back from holiday can't wait! Girls have a look on boohoo for maternity clothes they're not great quality but fine for the price.

sep30 · 04/09/2019 22:01

Thanks so much ladies! Will be buying some tonic water or lucozade tomorrow to try 🤞🏼

Dinosauraddict · 04/09/2019 22:02

Hi everyone, has anyone else been shocked at the cost of pregnancy? I will caveat this in that I'm lucky I can make it work, I'm on a good income (higher rate taxpayer) and I had been saving a 'baby fund' before pregnancy. But am still shocked. Before pregnancy I always bought the vast majority of my clothes from charity shops, today I've spent £28 on a pair of maternity jeans. I'm buying mat dresses in the sale but they're still more than second hand clothes, and there are loads of other unexpected things that I'd just never thought about - this week I bought stretch mark cream, I'm wasting food for the first time ever because I can't bring myself to eat it, even an NHS scan yesterday cost money for parking, scan photos etc. It all adds up! Perhaps I'm just hormonal etc but I feel like some of this was not accounted for.

avocadoincident · 05/09/2019 06:08

@Dinosauraddict

Our scan photos are £3 each which I will buy buying later today. (Very excited).

Lidls do nice enough Mat clothes from time to time. I'll let everyone know when they come in. They normally do leggings and the pregnancy must have striped jersey Breton striped dress and tops.

But I'm trying to utilise things I already own rather than exclusively wear mat clothes. I always think a few key items and then make do as it's not for long. I have a few stretchy dresses already that can grow with me.
My issue is I need breastfeeding clothes that are maternity too as I'm feeding my 17 month old so I'm more limited again.

It's vitamins I think are pricey. I bet the mark up is astronomical'

Yvonne1988 · 05/09/2019 07:41

I just got some jeans from Asda £6 in the sale. Maternity ones. And 2 tops from eBay for mess than 3 quid each. I get free vitamins from my midwife for some reason. must be a thing up here because I get them free till the baby is 1! My partner earns alot but personally I don't so I'm being careful.

Dinosauraddict · 05/09/2019 09:59

@avocadoincident our scan photos were £20, not astronomical, but does mount up. @Yvonne1988 that's amazing about your vitamins, I get free prescriptions for things like my iron tablets until baby is 1, but that doesn't cover the folic acid/vitamins needed. Never bought clothes in Lidl before - will definitely have a look out. And eBay might be a good idea, thanks!

Yvonne1988 · 05/09/2019 10:27

I have a certificate for free prescriptions even though they are free anyway in Scotland. And free dental. Checks ups are free here you only pay for the work that needs done.

MunchyMunchkin · 05/09/2019 10:38

£20 is extortion @Dinosauraddict
Ours were £3 each.

It all adds up quickly especially the maternity wear!

doggeek · 05/09/2019 11:21

£20 is ridiculous! We got about 6 different photos and they only asked for a donation to the hospital charity. When we asked, the suggested donation was only £3 (total for all the photos)

Brandygirl27 · 05/09/2019 12:08

Hey ladies 15+1 weeks here 🙋‍♀️Is anyone suffering with itchy boobs ? Oh my it’s driving me crazy, also has anyone been prescribed cyclizine for nausea please ? Xx

DerbyshireGirly · 05/09/2019 12:20

Had my 12 week scan this morning, everything looking fine. NT nice and low at 1.0mm. Any skull theorists on here? I think that's a lovely square boy skull Smile

Jesskir89 · 05/09/2019 12:22

@Dinosauraddict boohoo 6 pound a dress in the same and Matalan jeans for a tenner. You just need to shop about. My scans are 5 each but I got 2 free last time :) @brandygirl27 no but I'm only 12 weeks

sep30 · 05/09/2019 12:34

@Brandygirl27 it might be where your skin is stretching I think i read somewhere! Lather on some bio oil and try not to itch it too much?

avocadoincident · 05/09/2019 13:09

Had scan today and due Friday 13th March

MunchyMunchkin · 05/09/2019 13:16

Lovely scan pics guys!

Brandygirl27 · 05/09/2019 13:21

@sep30 ahh yeah tbh they’ve grown but I don’t think I’ve ever suffered like this before, it’s soo hard not to itch 🙈lol I feel exuasted since I was up at 5am due to little boy waking up at that time and my little girl started school, is it bed time yet 😂🙈

Kaix · 05/09/2019 13:27

Ah here we are, lost the thread.

Got my scan date now, 16th September so not long now! DD estimated 28/3.

I’m somewhere around 10+5 today, lost half a stone, barely eating but really trying, not actually been sick but constantly feeling it.

Gonna have a read up now xx

Yvonne1988 · 05/09/2019 14:30

@kaix that's the same day as my scan but I'm 11+5 now ish.

sep30 · 05/09/2019 15:54

Oh wow @Brandygirl27 you do have your hands full 🙈🙈

Jesskir89 · 05/09/2019 16:17

@avocadoincident and @DerbyshireGirly lovely pics! I should probably know this but what's NT please?

satsumasaturday · 05/09/2019 16:52

@Jesskir89 others will probably know more detail but it stand for Nuchal translucency and from seeing what was measured at my scan it's the gap behind the neck in the scan. They use that measurement combined with your age and bloods to work out your odds of chromosomal abnormalities if you opt for the screening at your 12 week scan. Another thing she was looking for on mine was checking the presence of the nasal bone. There's a lot on google but the more I read up on it the more anxious I got about my results so I've stopped now!

Brandygirl27 · 05/09/2019 19:12

@sep30 yeah I really do, lol, it was a happy surprise this bubba lol, worth everything though just need my bed now my two are in bed 🤣lol xx

DerbyshireGirly · 05/09/2019 21:45
