Thanks @Keyboard91 and @Jesskir89 - WE'RE HAVING A BOY!!! X

whiskersonkittenss · 25/09/2019 15:46

thanks so much. I was going to spend around £70 on both pieces at the weekend, if I can't find it in store I'll have to get it online

whiskersonkittenss · 25/09/2019 15:47

@Dinosauraddict yay congratulations! also having a boy, so excited!

Yvonne1988 · 25/09/2019 16:08

@Doormat247 iv told him I want to go buy something when we have the scan even if it's just a baby grow from finding out what it is, and then go pricing up buggies. He's agreed. My scan is in the morning so will have a few hours to look about. Not much in Dumfries though so might need a trip to glasgow :D

DerbyshireGirly · 25/09/2019 16:25

@Yvonne1988 lovely little bump! You look pregnant, nicely defined (I just look a bit blobby at the moment lol) Smile

ineedanotherholiday · 25/09/2019 16:41

Anyone else find after 12 week scan they were in a strange limbo?

I still 'feel' pregnant in the sense that my boobs are still sore and I still have sickness but because 20 week scan is quite away away, early nov and I can't feel anything yet or really have any bump it still seems surreal even though I've seen the baby!

My bump seems less than it did a few weeks ago, I'm 14wks. Dh thinks it's getting slightly rounder and bigger but I wondered if it could just have been bloat making it bigger before. I've read that the uterus should start pushing up and out now and bump should start forming but loads of first time mums have said they didn't show for weeks! Seems an odd stage! I thought after the 12week scan is 'feel' more pregnant.

Jesskir89 · 25/09/2019 16:50

@doormat247 sorry to hear that are you ok?

MissPepper8 · 25/09/2019 17:03

Yvonne1988 Oh no you have a lovely shaped bump. I'll have to get a pic when I get my new length mirror.

I find the only time I have the most confidence is when I'm pregnant, I just remember it won't be there for long and then it's a toddler stealing my food lol xx

Yvonne1988 · 25/09/2019 17:07

@misspepper8 I feel quite self conscious but I don't know why. I was looking forward to the time when I didn't have to hide but I think I got used to it lol. Feel like everyone looking.

I'm feeling the teeniest poking a few times a day now. Been happening everyday this week.

Dinosauraddict · 25/09/2019 17:15

Sorry @Doormat247 I've just seen your post from earlier today. Hope you're ok. If you don't mind us asking, what issues are you worried about? I have downs in the family and was particularly worried about that.

Doormat247 · 25/09/2019 17:37

@Dinosauraddict we're worried about Zika. The doctors and hospital refused the tests and early scans as it advises as they don't come across it much so were completely clueless what to do next.
I've just got my downs blood test results and thought it seemed fine at 1:5,600 but saw some posts on here when I searched that most people seem to be nearer 1:100,000 so I'm a bit worried about that too. Plus the test was only for downs, not the 2 other syndromes.
Are you still waiting for your results? Or too early yet?

Doormat247 · 25/09/2019 17:40

@Yvonne1988 yes you should make sure you buy something. We went looking at buggies a few weeks ago as we have a mothercare outlet near us, but we won't be venturing in there again - the prices are unbelievable Confused. All they seem to stock is the fancy brands and outlet price is from £800 upwards Hmm.

Doormat247 · 25/09/2019 17:43

@Jesskir89 thank you. No I'm not doing so great - am in so much pain and the hospital refused me any painkillers because of the baby. Ended up in a&e then stayed in for mri scans. It's only marginally better and I have to go back to work next week :(
I had zero pregnancy symptoms so this has hit me like a brick getting the disc problem and pgp/spd together.

Yvonne1988 · 25/09/2019 17:58

@Doormat247 I'm quite happy to buy 2nd hand. But my boyfriend was a bit funny like that. I am all about saving money! The mamas and papas sola was my fave ever buggy last time so wanting something like that

MissPepper8 · 25/09/2019 18:37

@Yvonne1988 I'm sorry, I think it's everyone making a fuss if they know youre pregnant too. But let them look, you really do have a lovely shape 😊 x

That's lovely, I've been feeling baby tiny bit, but last night baby was going, felt 2 or 3 movements while relaxing in bed. X

Dinosauraddict · 25/09/2019 18:39

@Doormat247 what makes you worried about zika? When/where have you travelled? Our downs was 1:8000 (so not as good as a lot of results on here but honestly both yours and mine are absolutely fine and incredibly low risk)!

Keyboard91 · 25/09/2019 18:53

@Dinosauraddict congratulations!!! 😍 Can’t wait for our gender scan!

I was vegetarian. Today I stopped in Asda to buy steak (and onion rings) and had steak, homemade wedges, onion rings and peas and my GOD it was good ... to the point I just want another plate right now 🙈 guess I’m not vegetarian anymore 😂

@Doormat247 as a mathematician, your ‘risk’ is massively low. 1:251 is the cut off so 1 in 252 is ‘low’ risk and your risk is lower than the background risk so that is all verrrry positive. I don’t know much about zika, when did you get back from a zika country?

Ladies, I will create a new thread so when this one is full (1000 posts) then migrate over there :)

Thanks @Keyboard91 and I'm so glad another veggie is having the same issue. Throughout the pregnancy I have been craving different meats - for the last 10 days it has been chicken. I had a chicken wrap for lunch today, and yesterday, and the night before was a chicken burger. Earlier in the pregnancy it was sausages. I asked MW about it and it's apparently because we're not giving our bodies enough protein.

Keyboard91 · 25/09/2019 19:04

@Dinosauraddict I assumed it was protein or low iron. It was corned beef for me a couple of days ago, Chicken was last weekend! My cravings seem to change every few days haha.

that's so weird! I'm vegan and haven't craved anything meaty yet. my things are mainly fruits, jelly pots and nandos spicy fries Grin

Doormat247 · 25/09/2019 20:21

@Dinosauraddict @Keyboard91 the Zika worry is because I was in Costa Rica (high risk for Zika and currently cases are further on the rise) for two weeks. Got bitten over 50 times and showed signs of having contracted the virus, as did my DP. I appear to have likely fallen pregnant on our first day there.

Jesskir89 · 25/09/2019 21:27

@doormat247 sorry to hear that sweet hope everything's OK. Ladies make sure to move to thread 4

threegreensheep · 25/09/2019 21:34

@misspepper8 sorry that you had a bad experience last time. Have you had a debrief/counselling about it? Something the hospital can offer. Often things flare up again in the next pregnancy. Unfortunately with a previous CS you will require continuous monitoring during labour, due to the risk of uterine rupture (about 1-2%). You can refuse it but its generally against policy and you'll have a bit of a fight of your hands. However, just because you are on Dr led unit with a CTG does not mean you can't birth the way you want. Ask about wireless monitoring, get the mw to dim the lights, take your own music, take aromatherapy oils, anything to make you feel calm and relaxed. Your own pillows etc. Visit the unit if you can. Stay active in labour, you can be monitored kneeling, standing etc. Lots of options so don't dispair!
